What is there not to enjoy on a sunny afternoon at a lovely vineyard with peek-a-boo views of Skaneateles lake?
Nothing as far as I'm concerned.

The grounds are beautiful, especially on a warm spring or summer day, with blooming flowers and blue skies.

The tasting room is large and inviting.  You'll find a bar for tastings on one side of the room (and you can taste a good number of them for only a couple $.) and racks of wine for purchase on the other.  And towards the back is a dining room which I hear mixes up some tasty salads and sandwiches.

Visited over Memorial Day weekend. The tasting room is well done. It has an old world feel. The exterior/grounds are still being worked on, and needs more polish. I believe our pourer mentioned that they had been on site less than 3 years.

I tasted 6 wines, the whites were cool and refreshing (Riesling and Chardonnay were great). All of the reds I tried were below par except for the Elation (which was just okay). Unfortunately, this is the only winery in the area. So don't plan for an afternoon of tastings around Anyela's. Bottles start at around $13, with a 5% discount for 6 or more bottles and a 10% discount for 12 or more bottles.

This is the only winery on Skaneateles (pronounced "Skinny-at-e-las") Lake, south of Syracuse, NY.  We found out why there are not more wineries on this Finger Lake; the property taxes are much higher here than the lakes west of this one.   Anyela's is a highly impressive operation.  Nothing rustic about this one.  In fact, more like a fancy restaurant.  The wines are excellent; some of the best I've had in the region.
The tasting room is in a huge room that feels like like a great room in a castle.

The wines:  Reds are the stars here.  The Finger Lakes region has a relatively short growing season, so the area is more known of its whites (particulary chardonnay and Riesling).  But the reds at Anyela's are sensational.   The pinot noir (yes, pinot noir) as well as a few blends called "Elevation," "Overlay" and "Sync."   The Overlay is especially unique:  35% Cabernet Franc, 15% Pinot Noir, 20% Shiraz, and 30% Merlot.   And par for the course in upstate  NY, the prices are right.

There are many places for outdoor seating, although outdoor seating season is short here.  This area of the Finger Lakes gets more snow than the more western lakes.  There is a view of the lake from the hill, and you can easily tell that this venue is popular for weddings and other events.

It's further away from the other Finger Lakes wineries, but well worth the trip.   Four stars (not five) mainly due to the restaurant-feel of the tasting room.  They do serve food here, as NY laws are different compared to Virginia.

FANTASTIC wine!!  I went over Memorial Day weekend and I must say this is the best wine I tasted in the entire region.  Their Red Noiret was just a super smooth red wine without that bitter/pucker on the finish.  Goes down so easy.  My other favorite was their Chardonnay..mmm like butter.  So crisp and smooth.  The Reisling was wonderful and had notes of key lime pie on the finish.  You can tell they take great quality in the wines they produce.  The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room is very nice and they have a nice sitting area where you can go and enjoy a glass or two.  What a gem in the Skaneateles area!
