I came here for a nice dinner with my boyfriend and his family. It is a neat place hidden away! The parking lot was kind of annoying, we had to park on a gravel lot and walk a bit. The atmosphere is unique, it is rustic and put together very well. All of our meals came with fresh popovers, all of which were HUGE! They had sweetened whipped butter served on the side. It was absolutely amazing, incredibly tasty and I could have made a meal out of them!
I ordered the Caramel Glazed Pork Medallions with asiago potatoes. The pork was incredibly tender and the glaze complimented it perfectly. The portion was very large and I wasn't even able to finish everything! The potatoes were freshly baked and super hot. I would order my entire meal again!
The other five in my party ordered seafood, 4 walleyes and a tuna. Rave reviews from all of them, especially the two from California. They can't get walleye this good out there.
Half of our party ordered tea, and the water came luke warm with lipton's tea packets. Tea tastes best when steeped in boiling hot water and it would have been nice to have more hot tea options. Beyond the tea and the parking lot, this place is great and on the top end for St. Cloud dining! -

I've been to Anton's several times, but I never knew:
"Anton's proudly serves only 100% All Natural Angus Beef (and Chicken!). All of the beef we serve was raised without the use of hormones (ever!). No antibiotics are used (ever!). The cattle were raised on an all-natural 100% vegetarian diet (e.g. grass!) And best of all, they are certified Humane Raised and Handled."
That's pretty cool, Anton's. It'd be even cooler if the cows didn't eat corn either. What are the chances?
My steak was prepared as requested, rare. They serve a variety of quality beers at the typical markup, ridiculously overpriced low-quality wines (which doesn't affect my rating because I rarely drink "restaurant wine" around here), and boast one of MN's largest selections of scotch.
I always enjoy the musty smell from the mostly annual, but not necessarily, flooding of the first level and find the decor delightfully tacky. Don't wear your best here, but please not only a t-shirt. And take off your ball cap, please. -

I was driving from Fargo to Minneapolis on a Thursday night and was hungry and saw Anton's sign from the road. You drive over a little bridge and into a huge hidden parking lot and see this huge log cabin known as Anton's. It's like something from a movie.
It was the holidays so the place had all kinds of Christmas lights inside which gave it a nice feel.
I sat at the bar and had the NY Strip steak with salad and a huge piece of bread - also baked potato. My total with tax and tip was under 30 dollars.
I took a quick look around and the outside patio looks awesome in the summer. -

It may have been the company that I was with. It may have been that I was hungry for comfortable and genuinely NICE places like this that just don't exist in Los Angeles. But I love this place.
I love this place so much I want to keep it a secret, but given the population of Waite Park, I'll risk it.
This is the spot that my lovely local friends chose for our last night in Minnesota. I had the Walleye (the state fish, doncha know) which came with awesome fresh baked popovers (I took one back home to LA for my man), a salad, and a side dish (I chose au gratin potatoes which I couldn't finish on the spot so I nibbled on it the whole plane ride home). I love that they didn't over salt ANYTHING, and everything was delicious! This is something that is impossibly hard to come by!
We ate on a deck from which you can get a beautiful view of the river, the lush greenery, and the occasional kayaker.
The staff was friendly, helpful, and informative - the avatar of Minnesota Nice.
It was the best last meal together with beloved friends. -

I love this place. Right on the river for awesome scenery and it has a cute and unique ambiance with some little covered wagon booths for privacy. The service was always good and the food was delicious. My favorite is the Shrimp Boursin. So worth the calories and I liked it so much I order it every time I go there! This is a great little place and I highly recommend it.

I've been in St. Cloud for not even a day, and Anton's is the first restaurant my girlfriend took me to. We got there around 4pm for lunch (hey, I'm from Vegas, what do you expect) and discovered it was happy hour. The hostess sat us on the upstairs deck overlooking the lake, and we ordered a couple beers. One beer was on special, and our waitress mistakenly thought it was all beers. She made up for her error by bringing us an extra popover with our food.
I've never had a popover before, but it was this delicious eggy-bread concoction served with honey butter. I can now see why my girlfriend recommended I got my own, so the extra one wasn't put to waste. We also ordered a half price blackened chicken pizza, which came with onions and goat cheese on it, and a half price order of crab cakes that were heavy on the crab.
The food was delicious, the prices were low, the service was great, and we had a nice view to boot. What more could you ask for? -

We came here in May with a large group of family for lunch on a Friday. They were a little busy but not what I would call swamped. Our St. Cloud family remarked that there was nowhere decent to eat in town (i think they're wrong) but that we could go to Anton's because the food is OK and the kids would enjoy feeding the ducks or something like that. (It's just so nice when you go to visit someone and they are so excited to see your kids that they keep them entertained for you! And you get 5 seconds to relax and eat something!)
We had a large group and it took a while just to get seated - there seemed to be a lot of confusion over where they wanted to put us. They ran us up and down the stairs a couple of times before finally settling on a spot downstairs. Also the service was pretty slow. The food was pretty good though. I was asking the server about the salmon, was it farmed or wild, and she said she didn't know about the salmon specifically but that all of their meats are organically raised which was impressive. The menu had a lot to pick from which was also nice. The food was above average and the waitress brought us a couple plates of cookies to make up for the slow service.
The atmosphere here is nice - great woodsy setting but very stereotypical Minnesota decor - a little dated. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars because I feel like they deserve more than three but with the slooooow service we got, just can't bring myself to give them four. But I would totally go back next time we find ourselves in St. Cloud. -

I've been to Anton's twice, once for some mid-afternoon appetizers and beer, and then recently for the rehearsal dinner before my wedding. I will certainly return here the next time I'm in the Saint Cloud area so I can have a more normal dinner experience, because everything I've had so far was delicious. Plus, the popovers here are roughly the size of a human skull. I was amazed.
The decor of this place is great. The main area has a rustic log cabin feel, but there are several other rooms that have different and interesting decor. In back there is a terrific view of a stream (the Sauk River, maybe?) and many geese and ducks that are just hangin' out in the small area between the restaurant and the river.
All in all, terrific Minnesota food, fun yet classy decor, great views, and fantastic service for a banquet dinner. -

Neat atmosphere (it's in a log cabin!), kind staff, and great food.
The Place and the People:
You drive over a small bridge to get into Anton's parking lot - kinda cool. The restaurant is in a log cabin and is quite sizey. The atmosphere is open and relaxed - you can hang out at the bar or sit at your table for a few hours and they'll take great care of you. Our waitress did a fantastic job handling a slightly rowdy group of 11.
The Food:
Pretty good. The popover was the most exciting thing we all ate - a big, hollow ball of sweet bread that is fantastic. The serving sizes are fairly good, but I was nowhere close to finishing my meal - could not believe how stuffed I was! The rest of the food was good, but I didn't hear anyone gushing over how fantastic their food was. -

I've never had anything bad at this place! Everything is AWESOME!!! Prices for dinner can get spendy but you are getting high quality food so its worth it. My husband and I usually go for lunch or happy hour because those prices are just awesome !! We leave feeling like we robbed the place! Hahaha! Their happy hour is sort of a well kept secret but its awesome for those who know about it!! I think the times are like 4-6pm and if you sit in the bar area, you get dirt cheap appetizers and drink specials. Ive had every appetizer on their menu and they are all OUT OF THIS WORLD. Anything on their menu that has the Boursin sauce is guaranteed to be awesome.
I would reccommend this place for anything - celebrations, date nights, quick lunch, happy hour especially.
Best place in St Cloud by far!! -

I grew up spoiled by Anton's... until moving up in the world, and out, and around, etc., I had no clue that an "Antons" was not evident everywhere. It is not a chain establishment; it is privately owned, but the food is consistently as good as if it were an upscale chain. The casual atmosphere, rustic "log cabin" feel, the genuine care of the waitstaff, the beautiful view, the POPOVERS and whipped honey-butter....spoiled. Style pervades: the conviviality and casual air of the waitstaff paired with fantastic (and difficult to find--the popovers!) food and a beautiful view of the river. If you are looking for a fine dining establishment, Anton's would not be the first choice, but if you are looking for a unique experience with great food and a relaxing atmosphere, Anton's is a winner.
Recommendations: crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer, filet mignon, lamb chops or crab legs, and don't miss the popover with honey butter. -

I've been here a few times a few years back and the mashed potatoes stand out the most to me. So I guess I don't remember the main dishes. Although, I do think this has one of the best ambiences in St. Cloud. Right next to the Mississippi its good in the day or at night.

Locals Impression...Very classy restaurant with excellent food. This place has been around since prohibition, hence the copper moonshine distiller near the entrance. I've heard stories linking Anton's with Capone. It sits in the woods next to the Sauk River which make for the most picturesque dinner in town. The service and staff are always good! This is not only a great restaurant but a place with a ton of history connected to it.
