Review from Mike V.
Only place I'll stop for food between Tony's BBQ'd Oysters and Mendocino.
Consistently delicious tacos (I always go for the chicken street style tacos) and a fantastic salsa bar.
they also have eye-wateringly good salsas that will TOTALLY wake you up if you are getting sleepy on the long windy drive up the coast.
There's also a great TrueValue hardware next door with lots of supplies for camping, diving, and BBQing so you can have an even more productive pit stop. -

Near the end of a visit to this neck of the woods, we needed a little something outside the realm of the backyard Weber kettle and so when we saw Antonio's sign on Route 1 pointing west we headed up the hill toward to the water to check it out.
The place had a pretty good crowd, which is more than I can say for the other south of the border choices in and around Gualala then. The salsa bar looked better than I expected, which had me hoping for a few good fish tacos and some tasty carnitas.
If my wife had asked beforehand, I would have bet on the carnitas to come out on top. I would have lost.
I wouldn't call the fish tacos amazing, but they definitely were good. Fresh fish (just tilapia, nothing wild or fancy) lightly breaded and perfectly fried with a sprinkling of shredded iceberg 'n diced tomato plus a little saucy drizzle. The tortillas were standard issue. The carnitas were of the overzealously-crisped variety and therefore dry.
We'd stop in again if nearby for another relaxing stretch.Listed in: U Gotta Love Mexican Food!

Don't order what I did -- the combo plate. Microwaved relleno, cold enchilada, crisp taco.
Order the carnitas soft tacos and you will be happy. The salsa bar has some wonderful, tasty accompaniments. -

Tacos were very good, small cafe style dining. Nice staff. Probably the best food within city limits.

This is the only place on the north coast that I stop at consistently for food. It's way better than the Mexican food in the Gualala Supermarket and that mariachi place in Anchor Bay. I get the roll taquitos every time -- and the salsa bar kicks ass!

One of the best BBQ pork tacos I've ever had, and that's all I ever get in the Mission in San Francisco. Their extensive menu looks solid throughout. Of special note may be their breakfast menu, featuring at least eight different mexican dishes in addition to worldwide standards such as eggs and bacon. My friend got tacos and beans and rice on the side, and everything was thoroughly enjoyable--an excellence in Mexican food rarely seen on the Northern California coast.

Wife and I were rolling thru Gualala on Saturday about noon and saw the sign to Antonios Tacos. We were pleasantly surprised about our meals. Very very good. Will definately return when back in Gualala. Good job Antonios. Thank you!!

We stopped here while staying in Gualala. This place was pretty good. We got enchiladas and combo plate with relleno, taco and enchilada. I love my enchiladas, but my husband said the taco was great, but the relleno was bland and the enchilada was hard. The prices were fair. This is a small dining cafe, not a large restaurant. There aren't a whole lot of options for food in this town. We would probably go back if we were visiting again.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Antonio's. The food was really fresh, and the service was great. And, the salsa bar is an extra bonus. We got the burrito macho, which was a little spicy and the chile verde plate, which was carnitas with a salsa verde. We also got the chicken enchiladas. Everything was really good, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

This place is out of the tourist zone and is more interested in good affordable Mexican food than making a quick buck. The salza bar has some real winners and meals come with chips. The vibe is friendly and casual with lots of locals and good Mexican music playing. I would rate this a surprisingly affordable and delicious alternative to overamped tourist food nearby.
