This place works like a well oiled machine. Glasses are never empty, the staff swirl and whirl around each other like gears in a clock, nothing is neglected.
The food was exactly what I was hoping for. Most Italian places you visit are "pick a pasta, now pick a sauce". There's so much more to Italian food than that.

I had a braised short rib over cheesy polenta with a sweet and savory sauce that was fork tender, robust and hearty.
For what you get, the prices are very fair.

I love the atmosphere here!  It feels like I'm back home in Jersey.
I stick with the classic Italian-American foods.  They do those really right.
Pizza, lasagna and pasta dishes.  Great spot for a date.

F- Food is consistently tasty- Eggplant Parm, caesar salad, cannolli and bread pudding are a must. Italian-American flavors.
A- Ambiance is casual, Italian-market, great upstairs seating addition.
C- Cost, reasonable for quality but portions are sometimes small.
T- Time- usually quick service if not too busy. Ask for bread right away.
S- Service is consistently pleasant. Servers are attentive and pretty much stay on top of everything.

The downstairs restaurant is 15-20 tables scattered throughout a very authentic Italian market.  With the deli counters full of typical Italian meats/cheeses/breads/desserts, and the walls filled with bottles of wine and fancy olive oil, you really get the feeling you're about to be pleasantly surprised by the food.  The red sauce is homemade and delicious.  It tastes extremely fresh and the natural tomato flavors really shine through, unlike most pre-made sauces where the flavors are muddied by preservatives and other nonsense.

    Specifics:
    * Lasagna - very good - great balance of pasta, meat, cheese and sauce. (4/5)
    * Penne al  forno - excellent - what most people would recognize as baked ziti, this dish has the great tomato flavor from the sauce with basil and cheese providing the perfect accent flavors.  (4.5/5) - side note, I decided half-way through eating this that adding sausage would make it a complete knockout of a pasta dish.
    * Dessert - rarely do I get dessert, but we were in the mood for bread pudding (sadly they were out) - so we got the cannoli and were pleasantly surprised.  Crispy shell, velvety ricotta cheese filling heightened by the freshness of the orange zest running throughout - make sure they don't skimp on chocolate chips, this really helps make it great. (4/5)

    Other:
    * Wine - you can buy the wine from the market and normal store prices, and for a $5 corkage fee drink it at the table.  That is by far the smallest markup of wine you'll find, because at other restaurants you can spend $20 and only get a very cheap bottle.
    * To try - I was told by the manager (Bobby - great guy)  that the pizzas and calzones are amazing!  I'll get those next time and report back.  Also I still need to try that bread pudding that was sold out (so I'm assuming it's good too).

This unassuming deli/market/restaurant really delivers on ambiance and food quality - and to top it off the prices are extremely reasonable.  I highly recommend doing yourself a favor if you're in central Florida and in the mood for Italian that you avoid the big chains and check out the Antonio's café and deli.

If I could give 6 stars I would.  This is the BEST place I have reviewed so far.  Everything was a 5.  The Wait staff, the food, the ambiance.

When we walked in, we realized that we were woefully under dressed.  We were going to leave when the manager insisted that we come in and that we were dressed just fine.  The waiter suggested wine for us and let us split a meal.  We got the salmon pasta and I think it was the best thing I ever put in my mouth.  It was THAT good.  We also had the pear endive salad and that was good as well.

Even though we split the meal we both had to bring food home.  We did get dessert and a waiter who heard us discussing options stopped to give his opinions.  I tried the Chocolate amazingness of the Valintino, and my friend got the berry and whipped cream treat.  We were both in love with our choices.

Every single person in the restaurant was extremely nice, said hello and goodbye.  I called my fiancee on the way home to gush about how great this place was. I can't WAIT to go back!

When my wife and I lived in Maitland, we ate in the deli/wine shop several times a month.  We only ate upstairs once and it was fine, but downstairs is simply a monumental value to anyone who enjoys good Italian food and any wine they can find on the shelf.

Being able to choose a wine from the shelf and pay only $5 corkage (when the wait staff doesn't "forget" to charge us) is simply a treat.  A 20 dollar bottle of wine for 20 dollars is reason enough to dine there, rather than go to Olive Garden and pay 20 dollars for a 5 dollar bottle of grape juice.

The food is as tasty as it is reasonable.  The chicken parm is awesome and there is a pork dish there that rocks when they have it.  For two people to have a full dinner with salad and bread, and a bottle of wine, and pay only 40-50 dollars is simply grand theft as far as I'm concerned.

Expect to wait on weekend nights after 5, and expect a somewhat cramped interior, but this is also a deli and liquor store so there is no reason to be put off by a few people standing around.

We ate here regularly when we lived in Maitland. Upstairs dining (formal) is great for a treat, but we always gravitated downstairs to the less formal cafe/deli. We enjoyed eating amongst the shelves of products and wines with the hustle and bustle of activity. Always have had great service, have dined as a couple and in larger groups.  Lunch and dinner it's equally busy.

Pizza and Calzones are amazing. Pasta dishes are wonderful and the 1/2 chicken was a regular for my hungry husband. Love the house salad with the sun dried tomato creamy dressing. All items travel well for take out.

Wine selections are nice, you can buy from the retail and open there without a corkage. Bonus.

Molto bene!  Finding a place to take my all-Italian family is a tough feat since their standards are so high.  But thankfully I listened to some wise friends and brought them here.

From the warm bread at the beginning to the Rum cake at the end, everything was simply wonderful.  The highlights for me were the Saffron Risotto and the Papardelle Bolognese.  Very authentic and cooked perfectly.  Melt in your mouth delicious and the type of food your still raving about the next day.

Another hight point was the way my table of 6 was served -- at the very same time.  Other servers pitched in and placed our dishes in front of us at the very same moment.  A nod to the staff for creating an exceptional and authentic dining experience at a reasonable price.

I haven't had a chance to go upstairs to the other part of Antonio's, but I can tell you I can't wait to get up there. Downstairs is definitely my sort of style, and reminds me of some of the places I went to while living in Europe.  Sitting amongst the isles and near the deli case has it's own sort of nifty. You can look around at all the neat imported items, and if you feel like it, grab one and take it to the table to open and taste. There is something to be said for getting up and grabbing your own bottle of wine from the cooler.

I've been here a few times, and everything I have had is delish. Damn near worth that fifth star. A few more visits will probably get it.  The pizza is definitely a star, fresh mozz, spinach, and pancetta? Oh yeah. And the gargonzola pasta? Heaven. Couldn't have asked for better. I really want to try a calzone now. Now if I can find the time to get back up there.

Came in for dinner on Friday night and wow... it was packed.  We waited almost an hour for a table, but the food was worth the wait.  Also, we picked our bottle of wine and were able to start drinking it while we waited.

This is half deli\half shop, so don't be surprised if someone wants to get a closer look at that bottle of tequila right by your head.

Even though it was busy, the service was fantastic.  Quick and friendly.  I really liked the appetizer of grilled eggplant rollatini.  My dinner wasn't as good as I wanted it to be...grilled chicken breast over veggies.  But that's partly because I was keeping myself on my eating plan and avoiding carbs.  Sigh.

The chicken wasn't seasoned as well as I wanted, but the veggies were cooked perfectly.  The lemon sauce was light and perfect.  I added some crushed red pepper and that made the dish sing.

    Molto bene, Antonio's!

Pretty much the only decent restaurant in Maitland. Food is good, but overpriced. I come here for the sun-dried tomato dressing, and that is all. Service is usually pretty slow as well, and can be unfriendly.

Like another reviewer I was here for a private party so I can't comment on the regular dinner service. Downstairs is a casual cafe and store that you pass through before headng upstairs to the restaurant.

Before we even sat down we were brought glasses of wine. Once seated we were brought an array of apps served family style. We had the Bruschetta and Mozzarella but by far the favorite was the calamari. The calamari was cooked light and crispy with a great saltiness and a hint of peanut. The Caesar salad was next but the sardine flavor was too strong for my liking. I ordered the Ravioli for my main course but by the time it came I was already full! I did have a few bites and it was very good; it had spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and shallots all in a light cream sauce. Finally desserts which consisted of a cannoli and a Belgian Chocolate cup filled with brandy and a raspberry sauce. I wasn't a fan of either. The cannoli was dry and bitter as was the chocolate dessert.

Service was excellent. Even though we were with a private party the servers did everything they could to accommodate individual guests. Food for all 40 guests was brought out together and all was fresh and hot. Water (and wine) glasses were never empty. From my experience as a guest for a graduation party I would definitely come back as a dinner guest.

I have ordered take out many times from this restaurant.  I order take out only as a result of the rude wait staff.  I thought the food was tasty, but didn't want to deal with the tiny seating area, the snooty wait staff & have to leave a tip too.

Well, this week I ordered our usual meals (Pollo Piazziola & Pollo Carciofi), and when we got it home & began eating - I found a long black hair tangled up in my pasta.  Disgusting.

This place doesn't make their cooks wear hats or hair nets, which has always struck me as less than appetizing, but this was just too much.

The restaurant is in Maitland, and is frequented by the pseudo upper-crust geezer wine crowd.  I'd love to know what any of those folks would do or say if they were treated to an unsanitary treat in their linguine.

Stay away.  We tossed the food & got take out from Romano's Macaroni Grill where the cooks wear hats.

This review is for take out.....SO GOOD!  I grew up in the Maitland/Winter Park area and this is one of our go-to spots for take out pizza.  We had it for dinner last week one night and it was amazing.  The dough is perfect, not too thin or thick and the ingredients are fresh.  It's been years since I've had Antonio's and it's still just as good as it always was.  The people are really nice and they will customize any dish, pizza, or calzone to perfection.  The price is right too.  This place is so good.  Enough said.

The upstairs to Antonio's is too stuffy for me, eat downstairs for casual laid back meal where it feels like your in Italy at a corner deli. The food was really average I had risotto and chicken parm. I've had better maybe they could have suggested something else but the waiter seemed to struggle with everything.

    Great food, service and decor!

A fantastic restaurant in Maitland, serving a variety of Italian fare- from pizza and pasta to salads and soups.

The downstairs area is casual and perfect for lunch. You eat surrounded by the "market" where you can choose from olives, tomato sauce, wine and so much more!

There is a great atmosphere and the service is right on par.

I had a tasty chicken dish and will certainly be back for more!

Super friendly wait staff. Really good food. Very popular. Lot was full and then some when I was leaving but the complementary valet should make that less of an issue (I didn't need to use him though). Prices are a bit high likely due to location, quality and clientele (plenty of business folks).

Have been here at least once a week for lunch or dinner, for the past ten years. It just doesnt get any better than this. Crispy crusted pizzas as in Italy, from their hot oven. Always fresh salads, cheeses, perfect sandwiches, great roast chicken and pasta dishes. You buy the bottom of wine off the shelf and they serve it. Heavenly desserts. Ask for olive oil w our bread when you sit down.

Casual, we have been in blazers from church to baseball uniforms from games. Energetic atmosphere, but not too loud. Extremely friendly waitstaff. Enjoyed by us, our college kids, our parents. Trust me on this choice!

I love this place. The owner,  an Orlando native whose Grandparents immigrated from Italy, actually flew in brick masons from Italy to build the wood burning ovens, and most of the wait and kitchen staff all speak Italian.
You don't get more authentic than that!
    The service is impeccable.
You can dress up a bit and take the elevator to enjoy fine dining and a view of the lake in the second floor dining room, or come as you are and visit the casual cafe and wine shop downstairs.
The server will recommend the daily entree specials.
Be sure to listen to him.
I recommend the duck breast, because even though it may not be prepared the same way every day, its always something you'll tell your friends about the next day!
The wine selection is extensive, and I recommend that you order what you like, if you know about wine. If not, they will happily suggest the appropriate (and expensive) bottle.
This should be the most popular fine restaurant in town.
Many places with half the quality charge much more for less.
Note: be sure to check the website for monthly prix fixe specials.

My experience was underwhelmed. The server was awkward and service was not prompt. Our drinks were never refilled when less than half full and his personality was really lacking. I saw that Spaghetti alla Marinara
was on the menu and I inquired with the server if they had Meatballs. His reply was " they have that downstairs."  with no attempt of being accomodating. I ended up ordering the Risotto ai Funghi ...with the pronouciation fun-gee. And the server pronounced it fun-guy...not correct. He was mubling to himself about the pronounciation....just awkward. We ordered the freaking Bruschetta and when the server came to serve it, he attempted to use two soup spoons with one hand to clamp the Bruschetta to deliver it onto our bread plates, he was very shaky...geesh..he was really struggling. My husband ordered the Pollo alla Parmigiana ..Chicken Parm that came with just two bites of spaghetti....it was good...but not worth the price..seriously.

For first impression for dinning upstairs....not thrilled..not impressed.
We should have gotten up from our table and went downstairs for our dinner...where there were MEATBALLS!

Unfortunate bad experience by Jennifer in the other review. I've been going here for a long time and i have not experienced any rudeness at all. The owner is incredibly picky about the freshness and quality of the ingredients. So much so that once I complained that the pepperoni on a pizza I got tasted weird and came to find-out that the reason was because they were using a very expensive cappicola type meat for the pepperoni and it was just so different from  the normal stuff that it didn't taste "right". They changed the meat to more traditional (and cheaper for them) pepperoni by the next time I ordered one. The pizza from the deli area of the Maitland location is possibly the best in Orlando. The experience I've had as well as anyone I've ever brought there has been top notch..

Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner in the private room (so not a typical dining experience!) Service was excellent, the waiter kept refilling our wine, and when they serve food, they bring out multiple servers with all the food to set down the plates at once.  I had the insalata cesare (caesar salad), nothing special but it was a lot tastier than the insalata quattro stagione (mixed greens w/ vinaigrette), which was bland.  I had the scaloppine picatta (veal medallions).  It was very good, but the sauce starts to taste a little too lemony after awhile.  mashed potatoes were very good.  Looking at the price online right now, I'm not sure this dish was worth it.  But the father of the groom did comment that their food that night was not as good as it usually is.  I would go back to try their other foods.

The deli is on the first floor and is a cool place. Gotta check it out. Good food. Upstairs is an upscale restaurant and it rocks. If you want a great meal and great wine then go here. Bring the cash cause it is 'upscale'. You want cheap and good go downstairs to the deli. They own a couple locations in Orlando including the one in Celebration which is great also.

While I still adore Antonio's food and would still rate it FIVE stars, I feel that in all good conscience, I have to add an addendum to the review I wrote and lower the overall rating. My husband gave me an Antonio's gift card for Christmas and I went there today to spend it on delicacies...canned and jar items that I can't find in the Orlando area. Their selection is fabulous BUT....beware of the deceptive pricing! For example, scungilli in the can is labelled on the shelf as 5 dollars and change. I bought two cans. The price? Nearly 19 bucks!!!! I bought a medium sized car of artichokes...unmarked on the shelf...17 bucks at the checkout...and perhaps the worst offender...white anchovies...marked as under 6 bucks on the shelf...FIFTEEN DOLLARS at the checkout. Long story short...I bought what I thought was a 50 dollar gift cards worth of food...which cost me 85 dollars. I don't think the pricing issues were intentional...if they were I would have been on the phone in a heartbeat with the city of Maitland but my advice is that if you DO buy items at Antonio's ask for the prices ahead of time  so you dont get burned as I did.

Not sure when reviewer Dale was last at La Fiamma, but the only people who spoke Italian on my visit were a couple of Argentinian servers.  Their Italian was quite good, though, and props to them for learning it.  I was pretty apprensive when scanning the menu choices of mostly the same old stuff, and both the server-recommended cabernet (I was a solo diner, so just a glass) and the bruschetta were okay but a long way from something to write home about.  But the evening's special pasta, a sacchette alla Vodka, was very different and intruigingly enjoyable.  For dessert, I enjoyed some biscotti with Vin Santo - a true Italian dopo cena selection, which you NEVER find in a US restaurant.  While definitely not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner, and most definitely not the place to try your first bottle of Brunello (jeez, the prices!), it's still worth a visit.
