Bloomfield Hills, MI
We needed to set up a business dinner in the area and of course I "Yelped" the zip code to find appropriate places. I had never been to Antonios and I made the selection solely on the positive reviews.
I liked what I ordered and I would go back again. I didn't order anything particularly exotic or challenging, but I did have a nice meal and a good service experience.
I ordered the lasagna and a side of sausage. The lasagna was nice and cheesy and it had plenty of tasty meat sauce. The portion was large and the presentation was very nice. The sausage had a nice fennel taste and aroma and was a nice compliment to the lasagna. I also had a side salad and I enjoyed the bread that they served. My business associates had veal dishes and they enjoyed them. They too looked like ample portions and were presented nicely.
A good deal all around. -

I had eggplant parmigiana here, and it was a big mistake. My dining companions who had some of the freshly made pasta really enjoyed their meals. The eggplant was terrible. The portion that I was served tasted as if it had freezer-burn. Seriously. I should have stayed home and eaten a frozen dinner.
I did try the pasta, and it was very good. I would recommend ordering any of the pasta dishes. The bread that they brought to the table was also very good. -

Antonio's is my favorite Italian restaurant in metro Detroit. The combination of quality, value, and service simply cannot be matched. Sure there are other Italian restaurants with equally excellent food, but you'll likely pay 50% more than you have to. I have yet to find a Minestrone soup that can match Antonio's, and the fresh baked bread melts in your mouth, just perfect! The menu covers a wide range of dishes, from homemade pastas to pizza, veal, paninis and calzones, soups and salads. It is great for lunch or dinner, dine in or carry out.
The service is always prompt and attentive, and your food usually arrives faster than you'd expect. You can order house wines by the glass, half carafe, or whole carafe which is great when you'd like a glass or two of wine without spending $40 for a bottle. They also have a full service bar and serve espresso and coffee along with a nice selection of desserts (try the canoli!).
I really can't find anything negative to say about this place. If cost is no concern, I'm sure you can find better Italian food, but you really can't match Antonio's for value. -

This was our second time here and they have been consistently good. The bread is amazing, just as all the yelpers have stated. The ambience is comfortable, and the service is excellent. There is a pizza special on Monday night and a pasta special on Tuesday nights that are great values. They can get busy so be prepared to wait - sitting at the bar sharing a bottle of wine while you wait for your table is a nice way to pass the time. I know a little bambino slept tight last night with a belly full of pizza and salad : )

The absolute worst Italian food I have ever had. I ordered chicken parmigiana and to what i could tell it was microwaved. I would have rather eaten at Olive Garden and I am not even a fan of that place. The only thing worth eating is the bread they give you. Met our waitress twice, once when she took our order and the other to pick up our bill. We saw her all night although she decided texting or facebooking was a much more constructive use of her time. I should have been clued in on the quality of service when we walked into the door and they had a small group of employees and what seemed to be a manager having a laugh and acknowledging we were waiting to sit but continued to chat and when they finally took us to our seat the host never even welcomed us he continued to talk to his friends. Went once and I will never return

I can not argue on the value to quality at this location. The Osso Bucco would be my go to dish here. The servings are wonderful and mostly the staff is accommodating and knowledgeable. I did have a problem with the owner who spoke rather stern, almost contemptuous when we questioned why we were not seated when we had made a reservation. When spoken to in that way it is hard to enjoy a meal, even when he came back and ask how everything was. For the food and service I would give four stars. However with the attitude projected by the owner I could never recommend to anyone.

Great, great, great. Big portions, tasty food, almost always great service. Saw one of the other reviewers complained mostly about the bathroom. Seriously?! What are you doing hanging out in there?! Get out of the bathroom and enjoy the restaurant!

I can't say enough about the food at Antonio's. It is amazing. Seriously, it's crave-worthy. I dream about the bread. The chicken pastina soup is delicious. And every entree I've had there has been really delicious. My favorites are the Covatelli Bolognese and the Vegetarian Lasagna. The pizza is also very good. My husband has not enjoyed the chicken dishes as much, but I've never tried them.
As for the service, it's really hit or miss. There is one server in particular who is excellent. He is friendly and gives impeccable service every time. On the other hand, there are one or two servers who cause us to cringe when we are seated at their tables. They are slow, slow, slow. One time in particular, my husband and I went there for a late lunch and there were literally two other tables of customers at the time. Our server was only responsible for our table, and our lunch still lasted an hour and 15 minutes. It wasn't because we wanted to linger, it was because every time we requested something, it took him 5 to 10 minutes to deliver. Our check sat on the table with our credit card peeking out for 10 minutes, waiting for him to come pick it up.
I saw a review commenting on the state of the bathrooms, and I've never had any problems with them. The women's bathroom has always been clean enough.
Overall, this is one of my husband's and my favorite restaurants, solely because the food is so excellent. -

You'll get real good Italian here. Homemade is the key here. You pick up on this right away as you see someone making pasta just off the lobby. We've eaten here several times and even had our rehearsal dinner here. The chicken picata was great and the pasta bolognese was superb. I know, some people say that pasta is pasta. At Antonio's it is leagues better and I am not a pasta fan. They had a Whitefish with ragu that was fork tender and not to acidic. Definitely give the fish a try here.
Carb lovers will order several refills of the bread. It's that good. Pizza. Some dare say that great Italian restaurants do not stoop so low as to serve pizza. Whatever. The pizza here is way better than the Metro's fave of Buddy's. The ingredients are of the highest quality and it reflects in how the pizza tastes and looks. The crust is not too thick and not too thin. Just right. Bring the family and it will cost you, but not much more than Olive Garden. They can do singles as well as efficiently accommodate larger groups and the service does not falter. I recommend any of the house wines. -

Food is consistently decent. Bathrooms are consistently DISGUSTING (I can only speak for the men's room). My family goes there at least once a month but we avoid the bathrooms like the plague. I hope there kitchen is cleaner than the bathrooms; gross!
Update; my latest experience was for an early dinner with a party of 6. Two of us arrived early and requested the table, this was 5:30 and there were maybe 5 tables of people already eating which left at least 20 or more tables open. The lanky, sloppy "Bieber haired" host told the 2 of us who arrived early that he could not seat us until the whole party was there. Are you serious? 20 empty tables? Ridiculous! Needless to say this kind of rubbed us all the wrong way- it might be a while before we go back. -

Great quality food at Antonio's. The Chicken Antonio is like dessert for an entree. The sauce is so rich and creamy.
There is usually quite a wait. Our last two visits to Antonio's has been comical thanks to the very young staff at the front. When the host asked for my husband's name and he replied "Jack" the host asked how it was spelled - and he was serious. Did I mention that they were young? Maybe immature and inexperienced is a better description. Our last visit our host was seating us and picked up one of the glasses on the table, looked closely at it and then shook his head in disgust and walked away.
In all honesty, this is not meant to be a negative review because these things did not ruin our meal nor the experience, it was simply comical. I think it's fair to assume that the students at the front may be studying some form of drama or performing arts. They like to entertain each other and make it known to the customers that there can be dramatic events that take place when seating us and working with the waitstaff.
This was all observed thanks to the somewhat lengthy wait for a table. It is understood that this is not a fast food venue or an in-and-out restaurant. It's worth the wait and the waitstaff has been wonderful. Hilda was very courteous and although she was busy, she took the time to be personable and attentive.
You really can't go wrong with the food and they make good strong drinks too! -

Tonight the pasta was very, very tasty. The salad was fresh. But the tiramisu? It was frosty, as in fresh out of the freezer frosty. Not cool (well, literally cool, but figuratively uncool).

I have been craving Italian food, which rarely ever happens and was meeting up with a friend for dinner who lives in the WB. I remembered my sister raving about the bread here (like almost all of the other reviews!), so we decided to check it out.
I was a little surprised to find Antonio's hanging out in a strip mall, but that doesn't bother me. The ambiance was nice, but a little cheesy maybe? There were other tables filled, but we got in without a wait and there were plenty of tables available (it was during the week though). We were first seated in one of those half moon booths which I find really awkward when sitting there with a party of two, so we moved to a normal shaped booth right by the front of the restaurant.
The staff was super attentive and came over a lot to make sure we were happy and give us refills. The menu is huge and has so much to choose from! I settled on gnocchi in pesto and my friend got lasagna. The dinner salads were pretty tasty and that bread was pretty delicious. I didn't eat much though because I needed to save room for pasta!
The gnocchi were great! But very rich. I had a hard time getting through even a third of the dish. My friend was a little disappointed with the lasagna. There was so much cheese that it took several bites to find the pasta part. The portions were HUGE. We easily could have split an entree and still walk out with left overs!
I had an enjoyable time at Antonio's and although I probably wouldn't make a trip out there from Royal Oak, I would gladly dine there again if I'm in their 'hood. -

Yum yum yum....the food is delicious here especially the bread...OMG. If you start, you won't stop. Don't say I didn't warn you. It's priced on the moderate to just above moderate side but the food quality is worth it. One day I hope to try the pizza. There are just too many things to try and they're all good.

My bf's parents love this place. Having Italian blood, they are awfuly picky on where to go.
I went here for a 'meet the parents' dinner.
The waitstaff was excellet. We had fresh bread rolls brought out to us. They were warm and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The ministrone soup was good. I tried the eggplant parm for the first time. and OMG. was it good! The homemade sauce was very tasty. The portions were a good size too. Had enough for lunch the next day. We were all happy with our meals.
This review got 4 stars because of location. It's in a strip mall. Food this good deserves a better location. -

One of the first things you see walking into Antonio's is a little room on your right, with walls of glass and someone hand making pasta. What a great way to set the mood for your meal! I have never had a problem getting a table at Antonio's, and they are quite accommodating to groups. The food has never disappointed me... from the delicious bread to start to the very fresh pastas and desserts, I always leave with a happy belly. On more than one occasion, Antonio has come to the table to make sure that we were satisfied with our meal and service. I have never had a bad thing to say. The last star is lost in the layout and decor of the restuarant.... there are so many places that are more romantic and Italian feeling to visit.

The food is ok but the bread is outstanding, I think they must sprinkle it with crack because last time I was here I almost ate 2 baskets of the stuff.

Yet again, another date night restaurant with the BF. He has a thing for Italian food and this place is literally two blocks from his house. And I'm going to agree with pretty much all the other reviews, the bread is fantastic. Warm, garlicky, deliciousness packed into roll form. You could make a meal out of the bread and meat sauce. Yum. We split the polenta appetizer with sausage and meat sauce. I really like it, but he wasn't crazy about it. Apparently for polenta, you either like it or you don't. Anywho, I ordered the vegetable lasagna and we got the linguini arrabiata. Both were delicious. There was a nice mix of vegetables and plenty of cheese. Their arrabiata sauce is great and it's the bf's new favorite. I only wish we saved room for dessert, because there was a gorgeous looking cannoli on display.

I dined here last night for the third time and although the food is not excellent, it's nothing to pass over, either. I love whole wheat pasta, so when a restaurant offers that, they immediately win me over. More so, the bread they serve prior to serving entrees is wonderful (mm garlic). The quality of the pasta was incredible. I've never had whole wheat pasta that wasn't the grainy, and Antonio's offered me just that, a smooth, wholesome pasta dish. My cousin ordered the veal and was less than satisfied, however, they are known for their pasta, not their meat. My grandfather, however, swears by their veal chops. He and my grandmother ordered baked dishes (he ordered baked spaghetti, she ordered eggplant parmesan) and were more than satisfied. Over all, when taking into account the cuisine and environment (this includes the waitstaff) I'd highly recommend Antonio's.

This was the WORST service I have EVER receieved. When it comes to eating out I'm not a high maintence customer, however this service was exceptionally horrible. My party of cutomers consisisted of 14 people, and from the moment we saw our waitress she was nothing but rude to us. The food was over priced for the quality we recived. The waitress numerious times reached over me and bumped into me countinuously without ever aplogizing. When I recived my food (chicken caeser salad) the meat was undercooked and it was dreched in dressing. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY HORRIBLE FOOD AND TERRIBLE SERVICE.

So it's not high-class Italian, however Antonio's has pasta's, soups and meat's like your mom used to make. I believe this is one of their smaller restaurants seats plenty however you will normally find a dinner crowd here waiting for a table so get there early. and the endless bread basket wins me over!

I frequent Antonio's with my girlfriend, and occasionally my family. I've tried a few different dishes, but found my favorite to be the cavatelli bolognese, and consistently order it visit after visit. As all the other reviews have already said, the bread is absolutely fantastic. If you are a fan of pizza, it's delicious here as well.
The service is usually great. The biggest issue with the waiters is how they are split between the restaurant. There have been a few instances where I was the only table on one side of the restaurant that my waiter was serving, while the rest of his tables were on the opposite side, leaving my table slightly neglected. However, we were never left without water because there are servers dedicated to keeping your glass full, and you happy that
You won't find yourself disappointed with your experience at Antonio's. -

Now that I know this place, the strip mall part of the equation doesn't even phase me. The bread is absolutely the best part of the experience.....warm and yummy inside and a little bit crispy on the outside. I love that they have some whole wheat pasta options. Their eggplant parmesan is primo! Their salads and chicken pastina soup are also big hits.
