This place is amazing. 50 different kinds of slices. Spicy Chicken was amazing. Tortellini with Red Sauce... amazing. I hear the honey mustard chicken is to die for - i'm trying that one next.

This place is a pure gem.

I pass by Antonios a lot and love stopping by to grab a slice.
I love their spicy chicken and their buffalo chicken but not a fan of their white pizza.
I also love their late hours

    I am a pizza snob.

I was in Amherst on the 7th.

Got a cheese slice, which is standard for all my pizza reviews.

Staff left it in the oven to long but I will not deduct points.

Crust: A thick for my taste but the dough was fresh!  And dough held the slice together nicely.

Sauce:  Fresh with nice zing from the garlic and basil.  Very nice.

Cheese:  Nice amount for a high end slice.

    All in all very good!

Not one of my all time top five but I could grow on me!

Personally I find Antonio's really overrated, with that being said I do enjoy the wide variety of slices even if it does follow the Amherst formula of "throw "stuff" on a pizza and see what sticks. Pricey but it's expected in Amherst.  Service is iffy if it's crowded it's possible to get away without paying because they don't seem to pay too much attention but i always wait patiently.  With all this being said I've never had a BAD experience just no great ones either.

Antonio's is the crack of pizza. In college I abused it and it destroyed my life (financially). After leaving Amherst, I had several relapses, sometimes driving an hour or more to grab a black bean, avocado and feta or chicken bacon which I'd eat in the parking lot around back. It made me feel dirty and weak. But I HAD to do it. I NEEDED it and there was no substitute.

Please, don't eat here. Think about your future...

I've had this years ago back when I used to come to the zoo to party and I remember with every trip an Antonio's pit stop was a must.  Recently I've been reunited with this delicious spot because now, I actually have a good reason to come out there.  Also, the gf surprised me with my favorite slice when she came home. Anyways, I think they have the most creative and best pizza I'd ever had. I mean they slices with tortellini and chips on them!  If there creations are too out there for you, they do have the traditional option as well.  Sauce is sweet, plenty of cheese, and crispy crust, what's not to love? My personal favorite is the steak burrito, cheesy beefy and crispy (damn I sound like a taco bell commercial).

The place gets crowded and the line is pretty awkward, makes you just want to get in, get out, and get to grubbin. If every pizza shop would leave the slice in the oven, when reheating a little longer, they can probably have that crispier slice, not a sad droopy mess (learn something from this place). Anyways no doubt about it, this place is a must if you're in the area.

Great grab and go pizza . huge selections and quick service.. Eat there about 1 a month and i have never had a complaint. I get buffalo chicken pizza and usuallu browse for somthing diffrent and my wife always gets cheese.. There is better pizza out there but not for the price and quickness of getting something diffrent.

    HOLY FUDGERY!
If i wasn't a super health freak, i could eat this every night!
I went tonight and watched my boyfriend gobble down three slices of pizza, while i ate his itty bitty crusts. HAHA
The avocado taco pizza was probably the best i have ever had, even though i only had a small bite.
It amazes me, cause every slice i have tried prior to tonight has been outstanding!
Their creations are so unique. I mean come on, theres a reason why this place is always bumping.

Found myself out in Western Mass last Sunday hiking and on my way home, Antonio's beckoned me for a slice or two of nostalgia.  What can I say ?  I totally caved.....ended up grabbing a slice of the Florentine, and a steak taco, and 2 Sicilians for the kids (they are fans from going to the one in Providence which is much closer to home).  Not the greatest pizza in the world, I'm sure all the pizza snobs will cry and moan about how it's not authentic or the ingredients didn't come from paisiano's garden in the old country, but whatever.....for what it is it is damn good IMO.  And no one can seriously hold a candle to their creativity.  It's nice everytime I make my waty out to the Pioneer Valley there is Antonio's to deliver the goods.....mmmmm !!!

Only worth your while for the "hot cheese up front" deal when the slices are fresh and cheap. Otherwise, it's ever so over-rated. But it's the best thing ever when you are shattered beyond oblivion! 2 stars for keeping us messy hordes fed!

I came here with my husband who is an Amherst College alum after a late night flight in from Austin, Texas. It was the only food place open at midnight, and it was SLAMMIN. I had the black bean and avocado, and it changed my life. It was pretty filthy, but what do you expect from a college pizza place at midnight located next to a bar? I will definitely visit Antonio's on my next trip to Amherst!

Piece of advise - If this is your first time there, act like you know what you're doing even if you don't. They will chew you up and spit you out.

The service is quick, and often rude. Don't be put off by it. Go in, get your pizza, and get the hell out. If you stay inside on the Th, Fri or Sat after 11:00pm, be prepared witness the most amusing Zoomass crowd.

Antonio's, you've changed, but, you're still OK pizza.
    -
Holy moly.  Back in the day, this place used to make the BEST pizza around.  And I mean the best - that wonderful crunchy crust (even the underside), lots of wonderful cheese, and a tangy sauce.
    -
Today, it's still pretty good, but not as good as I rememeber it.  It still has that wonderful crunchy crust, and it still has that awesome cheese loaded on top, but that sauce is awfully weak.  Not much in the flavor department there.  They still make cheap slices to churn out to the college students, which is good, but the flavor is lacking.  Or maybe this stuff just tastes better when you're loaded?

I don't eat a lot of pizza, but even I could tell this pizza wasn't anything special.  I see lots of reviews here praising the quality of the pizza.  WTH?  I can only conclude that the local college students don't have lots of pizza choices in town or that lots of students are on drugs.  Stay off drugs kids.  Drugs are bad, mmmmkay.

Usually when I get a slice from these types of joints I select whatever looks the freshest on the counter.  However I had a really tough time choosing a slice at Antonios.  Nothing looked fresh.  If I had a carbon-dating machine with me it probably would have detected nothing was made since the Paleolithic Age.  It was surprising considering the number of people working behind the counter and the fact that the place was packed to the gills with customers.  I would have thought I could easily catch a fresh pie coming out of the oven.  But I had no such luck.

Plus, all the pizzas on the counter had toppings sprinkled on them looking like last-minute afterthoughts.  The pizzas were cooked as regular cheese pies and then later toppings were piled on top after they were fully cooked.  Blah.  That's a really chinzy half-ass way of bringing variety to slices and it just doesn't make anything look very appetizing.

    2-stars pizza.

I'm really embarrassed that as a UMass Alum, I have yet to review Amherst joints... it didn't occur to me.. until now:

Antonio's... sweet Antonio's. I love you and your infinite combinations of pizza... buff chick, taco, ravioli, you name it... Antonio's has done it, and probably better than anyone else in the country.

I love this place so much. I especially miss the long lines at 2am.. where all you can hear is "HOT CHEESE UP FRONT!" I used to beeline it for the front, and then flirt with the guys to let me have something else for slice two. glory days.

In all seriousness, Antonio's rocks. really great pizza.. awful for sit-down meals, but all in all, the perfect UMass spot. It's really quite legendary - it drove McDonald's out of business! (I believe this is the only restaurant in the country to accomplish that). amazing. epic. delicious.

    god I miss college.

Funny story, a family ordered a whole pie to go, but then ate in the restaurant...when they got the pie, the dolt behind the counter asked them to RETURN THE BOX when they were done SO THEY COULD REUSE IT.  All in the name of not wasting trees...I think the health department would have something to say about that.

Whatever...if you like nacho chips, black beans, and other assorted crap on your pie...go for it.

Considering I lived in Amherst for almost 5 years, it is really a crime that I didn't eat here more often.  My absolute favorite is the avocado quesadilla.  Pizza with sour cream on it??  Heavenly.  The potato pizza is also absolutely delicious, but may be a little too bland for some people's taste.  There is very little seating - I only ever managed to get a seat inside once.  More often than not, I ended up eating my pizza on a bench outside - which isn't really all that bad on a nice day.

The only real complaint I can think of is that none of the pizzas are labeled, so I never know for sure what anything is.  I always have to ask "what's this?" at least 4-5 times before I order.

    Slices of Heaven!

My friend who went to Smith College for her grad school raved about this place so I drove down to downtown Amherst to see what all the hype was about.....
I can tell you Antonio's lived up to the hype.  I never saw as many cool slice options in one place.  I tried a spicy chicken slice, and potato style slice, and a standard slice of cheese.  The slices were good size, piping hot, and I ate outside on the bench and watched the sights and sounds of downtown Amherst.

This place is really as good as my friend said it was.  Big Fan!

YUM! I just had two delicious slices of Antonio's pizza. Boy am I glad to be here in Amherst for the next month, because that will mean several trips to Antonio's to eat my way through their menu!

Slice 1: fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil.

Slice 2: one of the three daily specials, a black bean quesadilla slice that had black bean puree, salsa, avocado, sour cream, cheese, and crushed tortilla chips. WOW.

    Go there.

Tasty, tasty slices in Amherst. The shop is very small and getting a table is difficult. The slices themselves are a bit pricey but one is more than enough to feed me.

Antonio's reminds me of Sam's in Northampton, but smaller, louder, more crowded, and slightly more expensive. So I'll stick to the one in my own backyard.

This is my hometown variety shop when it comes to pizza by the slice. It's become a tourist attraction, which is a good and bad thing because there's always people in there. You gotta go while the kids are in school to get yourself a decent slice in record time.

Fact remains, you really haven't had a wholesome experience in Amherst until you get a slice from here. They offer slices of the day, which is great for people who like to explore toppings on their pizza. They also have cherry coke (my favorite fountain beverage), and a copious amounts of shake-on ingredients for people who like their pizza extra herbal, spicy, cheese, whatever.

    Personal Favorites - BBQ Chicken/Bacon, Pepperoni/Sausage, Chicken-Parm, Potato-Bacon

If you don't know Antonio's you didn't go to UMass, or any other school in the five college area for that matter.

This place will always have certain sentimental value to as it was the most popular late spot for me in college. For this reason, it's hard to give an unbiased review. That said, this may be one of the greatest by-the-slice pizza places in the country. A bold claim, I know, but I have lived in boston for several years and have yet to find a places that definitively beats it. And yes I know Boston is not the entire country, however, my  UMass friends living in different cities have had simular experiences.

What really sets Antonio's apart from the competition is selection! I doubt I have ever been there when they were offering less than 10 varieties of pizza by the slice. Many of the flavor combinations seemed counterintuitive or overly ambitious, but over the years I learned to ignore my intuition and go for it - and so far I have not yet regretted it.

Why this magical winning formula is not more broadly copied I really don't know. There is a place in Harvard Square called Crazy Doughs is based on simular concept... alas, the selection is never nearly as ambitious or as well executed.

My favorite slice of pizza? Avocado quesadilla. TRY IT! Antonio's in Amherst is unquestionably, one of my top places to grab pizza.

When it gets busy (i.e. Saturday night after the bars close), it can get a bit hectic with a line out the door. In general, the employees are laid back, but when it gets busy and stressful, some of them may be rude. Ignore it. The pizza is worth it.

Some of the best pizza in the area. Many options when you walk in the door. always go for the specialty slices until after 1AM when hot cheese upfront kicks in (cheese slices only) this is where once the bars get out everyone fills the sidewalk outside so be prepared for a line.
I would suggest getting the daily specials and honey mustard chicken and ask for extra honey mustard.
Not a place for keeping your healthy diet intact. however a great cure for a morning after the bars.
Def check this place out if your visiting!

Antonio's is one of those places that inspires a cult-like slavish devotion from its fans. My husband is one of those fans.

I've been a few times now and Antonio's is solid. They have a million "gourmet' varieties in a traditional round pie or a sicilian slice. Gordon's favorites are Mac n' Cheesburger, Potato Bacon, Chicken Bleu Cheese, Nacho, Steak Burrito and anything with creme fraiche.

The specials are usually a great choice, too. I got the Spinach Pie on my last visit which was a round pie slice that was basically a giant spanokopita. Yum. Very filling, though. Took me three tries to finish it.

My only beef with Antonio's is that they move FAST behind the counter. They want you to order and move on. There's no taking your time or asking questions. They will answer your questions, but with a foot tapping and barely containing an eye roll. They want to move you right along; in and out. For someone who's not a local, that's not easy!!

Worth checking out when in you're in Amherst.

Antonio's is nice. They have a lot of different pizzas and crazy ideas, but that's one of the things that makes this establishment special.

That said, I do not think I could come to Antonio's as my "usual place" to get a slice of pizza, because every time I come, their pizza is fancy even though I may not necessarily want a crazy wild slice of potato skin pizza, chicken quesadilla, etc...

I don't think their plain cheese pizza, triangle or sicilian, is that great. It's pretty average and I have had better slices elsewhere. And with that said, that's how I judge pizza places-by first looking at their originals.

Lots of different slices to look towards and experiment with. Place gets packed and crazy during the after party hours!

Anywhere else, the complicated toppings would be a disappointing gimmick. Here, they're pizza perfection.

The guy behind the counter seemed gruff but warmed up quickly. Being a newbie, I asked for recommendations, and he got all serious on me. Obviously, I wanted the honey mustard chicken, but it was in the oven. Apologetic, he steered me toward the chicken/ranch and the alfredo/broccoli.

Wow, a revelation. The crust is just crispy enough to support the crazy array of stuff on top. And the toppings have just the right proportions. This stuff is even good cold--which, considering the weather around here, might come in handy.
