These guys are great. We don't eat a lot of meat in our house but, when we do we tend to get it from Antonelli's .

I feel they are always friendly (even if we are just walking by, they always say "hi" and ask how we are) and knowledgeable.

The one thing is, they have specials that aren't always listed on the meats. If you check out the special flyer in the Examiner (yeah, the free paper on your doorstep) it has a list of weekly prices. So, you have to know beforehand of any deals.

I am happy that they have Snake River Kobe American Kobe beef.  I believe they are one of the best American style Kobe beef I believe.

As of today, prices are:
Ground shoulder $9.90/LB
NY Stake $54.99 /LB
Fillet $79.99

Ground shoulder tastes great as a burger.  I think Snake River American Kobe is the best beef to be used for a burger - be careful to not over cook it.  It has very nice beef juice flavor with depth.  The fat doesn't linger in your mouth.

They are good lower priced and less marbled fat alternative to the "real" Kobe beef.   Snake River " crosses its premiere Japanese Wagyu cattle with premium American Black Angus"  http://www.snakeriverf...  So they are not 100% Kobe beef.  Also the cattle do not come from Japan so they should be called "American Kobe style beef" to be correct.   You can also read my blog about Wagyu / Kobe beef. http://www.bunnyeats.c...

One thing, the butcher did not know what exactly Kobe beef / Wagyu was.  I wish they study more about back ground of meat they sell.

My husband and I started doing low-carb diet so we are eating tons of meat.  I  went to Antonelli's after feeling dissatisfied with the other options.  (We live in outer Richmond)

Their meat is spectacular.  Fabulous quality.  There's none of the attitude that you find at Laurel Village, which is why I hadn't thought of going there to begin with.  Furthermore, they are so NICE.  They all seem to really love their work and know a lot about their meat.  I really feel good giving them our business.  I appreciate the quality so much that I don't even mind driving a little further than usual.

We are blessed in my neighborhood with some fabulous shops, among them some of the best -- I'm telling you THE BEST -- butchers available. Among my holy trinity of dead animal hawkers in the Richmond (Bryan's and AK complete the triune set), Antonelli's is my Holy Ghost. Really.

When I need a quick chicken to roast, or a couple of perfect trout to stuff with fresh herbs, or a piece of grass fed prime rib, these guys come through without fail, providing high quality, excellent service, professionalism and a decent price.

Infusing my world with a spiritual completeness that only a really fine roast bird can provide, Antonelli's is heaven sent. Divine.

Oh, whatever: They're great.

5 stars for the butchers alone.  Friendly ... knowledgeable ... Patient .... Polite.  I really appreciate that when it comes to a meat shop cause I don't know one side of the cow from the other.  I've been here more than a dozen times and I haven't received bad service yet.

Try the bacon .. great prices and super fresh.  The quality has compelled me to explore other types of meat.  Plus they often throw in an extra knuckle bone for my pup!  Gotta love the sweet old man behind the counter.  The short one ... not the tall guy.

UPDATE:
I just finished reading the Omnivore's Dilemma and have significantly cut down on my meat intake.  When I do go red I now opt for meat from grass fed animals.  Antonelli's got it.  And they are educated about the distributor.  I appreciate that.

As of recently this is my preferred butcher in SF.

Excellent meats with down-to-earth and knowledgeable butchers working the counter (very unlike the pricks you're likely to find up the block at Bryans)

Great seafood as well

Located inside Cal Mart (I didn't know first time I went)

Tips:
-Try the "Kurobuta" brand bacon...EXCELLENT
Kurobuta pork chops are also amazing
-The Loch Duart farm raised Salmon is the best farm raised Salmon I have had. The Loch Durat brand has apparently been served at French Laundry and Aqua...wonderfully moist and flavorful

I'll add to the love fest-
-awesome service
-great fresh, some organic meats
-super selection and worth the money
-butchers are very knowledgeable and nice and will do anything you want with the meat--chop, cut, de-bone, de-fat etc.
-best turkeys at the holidays

Uh-oh, the first non-5-star review.  But 5 stars for me means I'll definitely be back.  And while Antonelli's is great, I'm not sure I'd bother to drive out here regularly when I have Guerra's so close.

They have a wide and well-laid out selection here.  I wanted to make some curry, and I asked for goat--they didn't have any but offered to order some (good ol' San Francisco).  In the end I went with some quite inexpensive bone-in lamb, then stewed it until the meat came off the bones.  Not the tenderest, but cheap and flavorful.  Another plus is that they're inside Cal-Mart, so it's extra convenient to combine it with your other grocery shopping.

Now I just need to go try Bryan's down the street and see who the winner is...

These guys really are a great find. Excellent selection, great quality, good selection of locally raised meats (and grass-fed beef, too), and helpful butchers. And, unlike certain other Laurel Village butchers I could name, they're actually open on Sunday.

One warning I'll give you, though... they seem to pack up things about a half hour before the rest of Cal-Mart closes. So don't show up five minutes before closing time and expect to get all your meat and fish shopping done.

Fresh everything, and the guys behind the counter know how to sear/grill/marinate/bake/roast all of what they sell.  Also a very friendly bunch.

I love coming to Antonelli's, especially when I have a special meal to prepare. The guys there are knowledgeable, patient, and take pride in what they do. They'll make sure I'm getting the freshest cut the way I like it--every time. I'm certainly not going to get that kind of service from any big chain supermarket butcher. And the prices are only marginally more than Safeway, sometimes the same price. Go there when you need to make sure you have the best quality meat and fish.

Premium quality meats that come with expert advice on preparation and friendly service. The best butcher in San Francisco! It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Some people prefer Bryan's. But then again, some people bought K-Fed's album. There's no accounting for taste.

Great butcher. So convenient to get to go to a high-quality butcher while in your grocery store, rather than having to make 2 separate stops. Really helpful and you can so taste the difference between this goodness and the mass-produced stuff!

I'm really fond of these guys because they're great to talk to, both the fish mongers and butchers. Anytime I'm working with a specific recipie I bring it up in conversation. They're very knowledgeable about when things are in season and if what they have at the time is really worth working with or waiting on.

I honestly never feel the need to walk down to Bryans (except for veal demi glac).

Been here twice already.  Butchers sure know their meat!  The gentleman that helped me was very nice and knowledgable about the source of the meat and what it is fed.  A lot of their beef is grassfed although the short ribs I bought were grassfed while young and grain fed later.  I also bought some Kurobuta ham which was really nice.  I will definitely be going back here for my meat needs.  I only eat meat that has no hormones or antibiotics so this place is really up my alley.  I believe their meat is local.  The short ribs were from somewhere in CA.  I don't know if their meat is slaughtered at the ranch or at a slaughterhouse.  Great place, check it out.
