This place is truly amazing. The food is super cheap and super delicious. The lady working was really a sweet heart and I want to go again.

Why four instead of five stars? Clearly you don't know this is sixteenth and mission or you have never stood at sixteenth and mission (especially at midnight but other times as well). There were so many tweakers out and they are on the prowl late at night. Raar!

I got the longaniza for two dollars and it was fantastic with all of the accoutrements on two corn tortillas. I did end up eating it hiding by the side of the cart but I laughed about the whole thing even though it was raining and I think positively about the experience.

Antojitos San Miguel is next to a building adjacent to the 16th st. bart entrance. i've been hearing about bacon dogs and spotted some in this cart. i pointed to the bacon dog and said either "hot dog" or bacon dog"  and how much?   reply: "$3.00"

me: "ok , i'll take it"
seniorita: "you want mustard, ketchup, onions,.?"
me: "everything" at this point i realized i inadvertantly ordered the wrong thing. since neither dogs were  listed on the menu,. i went with the flow. ...reasoning: same dog used in both offerings. could still judge quality of dog.

    sampling:
-tostada with polle (chicken). guacomole (2)
some cream cheese sauce with pieces of chicken on a slightly stale tostada with some spring mix salad on top. interesting but not overwhelming eating.
    -hot dog on bun (3)
came with everything(mustard, ketchip, ....). large sausage, slightly favorful. extrapolating this to the bacon dog, said dog would get taste from bacon, not dog.

    frijoles refritos:
-this is a guatamalan food stand, not mex. items posted on truck ($2-$5.). designed for instant consumption.
-probably should be 4 stars for the guatamalan food. will upgrade when i sample the featured foods.
    -friendly, fast service from seniorita.
-language barrier, misunderstanding about what i wanted may have occurred.
-little activity at lunch, evening busy?

It's not very healthy but it sure is cheap. Quality-wise - it's cart food so don't expect gourmet food. This cart definitely brings flavor to San Francisco. Who cares about over-priced hotdogs and pretzels? We need more cheap and culture-filled carts like this in San Francisco.

I had a quick two dollar tamal tastefully served in a milpa (corn husk) and with a dollup of black bean puree.  it was delicious and tasty, sprinkled with a bit of dry cheese and had some interesting flavors.

I was asked whether I wanted my order "for here" or "to go". This was kind of funny because there is no restaurant seating as this is a walk-up taco truck style operation... but they obviously make good use of the seating around the 16th St. BART station. This also gives normal people an excuse to outnumber (and hopefully squeeze out!) the population of crackheads that would otherwise seem to dominate that outdoor seating area.

Delicious. Fresh ingredients, appropriately spicey, and ridiculously low prices (isn't it awesome how you can pass on the savings to customers when do you don't have to worry about the overhead costs of renting a huge place in San Francisco?)

    Great hours too

The tamale (they call it a tamalcuche or something like that) is really delicious, very moist, yummy filling, and well infused w/ the aroma of the banana leaf it's steamed in.

I also really enjoyed the Longanisa taco, basically a yummy grilled sausage wrapped in two corn tortillas.

The proprietors are very friendly too, and explain what condiments to eat with which items.  Altogether a great little place!

This is the little cart right outside the BART station. Can't beat $2 for freshly grilled chicken, two small tortillas and a dollop of black beans. Make sure to tell them to go easy on the oil.

This place is STILL the best place for Guatemalan food in the city.  Always fresh, always friendly.  Try some of their beer! it's unique and oh so refreshing.  Although it is a bit small, some could call it "cozy".  Their taco truck at 16th and mission is pretty good too!

Guatemalan tamale, $3. A fair size, it's silky soft, filled with chicken (kind of like Filipino kaldereta, if you've had it), and wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks. A nice, quick treat coming in or out of 16th Street Mission BART.

post bi rite ice cream sweetness, left me yearning for the salt like a long lost lover.

however, the tamal guatmalteca was super soft and melted in your mouth, i assume bc it was deep fried just before it entered my vicious mouth. kind of gross if that is the truth. the other tamal with black beans/sour cream did not melt but was rather salty. and those taquito looking things, avoid like you avoid porta potties. the meat was as crisp as its tortilla crust - yuck!

It's cheap and superconvenient -right at the top of the escalators coming out of the Bart station - but you get wha tyou pay for.

3 dollars for a fried chicken plate. The picture shows 2 pieces of chicken, but I only got 1. It comes with black bean puree topped with sour cream, and a tortilla. I asked for no tortilla but more bean puree and the girl merrily obliged. Even so, I do wish there were a second piece of chicken because with just one it's barely a snack. The chicken is also prefried and reheated in a microwave when ordered, so while the batter is quite flavorful, it's soggy.

I do like the 2 dollar "rellenito de platano" (stuffed plantain), which is a plantain ball stuffed with beans, topped with bean puree and sour cream. I couldn't decide if it was a dessert or savory snack, but it was and interesting combination of flavors.

The tostada de ceviche, i've had much better. The shrimp seems to have been cooked conventionally (rather than through acidic processes like proper ceviche) so they were quite tough and chewy. I'd pass on this unless you had a real hankering for some kind of ceviche.

Great for a quick, cheap bite. Not so great if you have the spare cash, because it's not impossible to get double the amount of food for double the price, but also double the quality, within a block's radius. (e.g. Taqueria Los Coyotes,  Pancho Villa's, La Oaxaquena, etc)

I can only comment on their rejanito de platano, but it definitely hit the spot and it was cheap as hell (2$ with beans a sour cream). Check next bus, and if your ride isn't coming for a few minutes there really isn't any reason to not give this place a try.

I spent about 6 months in Guatemala when I was a little kid, and anytime I taste the refried black beans on the chicken tacos at this stand it brings tears of joy. Also the chili it comes with is intensely hot and satisfying.

This mom/daughter team has really amazing tamales that are wrapped in banana leaves.   Very cheap prices --- excellent bite to grab as you're either getting on or off the Bart.

Just tried my first tamale from this cart and it is delicious.  It tastes really fresh and is quite flavorful.  As a bonus, it was super cheap, the service was friendly and the entire transaction was really fast.  I can't wait to try the rest of their stuff!  Makes taking the BART every day a little easier =)

Like my friend told me as we were scarfing down those juicy tacos..."man if it wasn't for you and your drunk ass asking people where we could find the best tacos, we woulda never found this taco truck". From the first day I've been here the only thing that I've ever ordered were the carne asada tacos, theres just something about the meat that makes this place the only reason why I go bar hopping around there....Because I know eventually I'll end up here with alcohol induced munchies. At 2 dollars a piece with guac, sour cream, and black beans on the side plus any topping you would like on it layed out in front of you on the counter it's a freaken steal if ya ask me. As for the service, theres this nice lady with glasses who works there at around 2 AM, I never got this "oh your not latino wtf are you doing here" vibe with her, she's nice no matter what race you are ^_^ must suck having to work that truck at 2 AM though...so always make sure to tip. Btw if you are reading my boring review right now and have gotten this far...WTF are you waiting for?!??!?! get to that taco truck and order some tacos now!!!! get the carne asada!!
