Review from Corey G.
This is a place to go if you want an authentic Mexican cuisine experience in Yakima that is not a truck or stand (and you know I love taco trucks!).
Made it here after a summer hike. For east-siders, Yakima is the perfect stop for post hike sustenance---on the way home, and there are some decent options (if you know the down low).
"Pssst!", I sound as I look side to side. "I'll give you some down low."
There are so many Mexican food options in Yakima. One could spend many years trying to explore all of them. For just a straight up good meal, with great service, and with some durn good flavors, Antojitos Mexicanos is where it's at.
Located in what must have been a fast food restaurant in the past (this seems to be a requirement for any good Mexican restaurant: recycling an old bland fast food restaurant into something spicy, colorful, and SO much more flavorful).
I went for basic and simplicity here. I went for a few meat tacos. While waiting for the food, a server dropped by and left us with a green::tan::orange::red rainbow of sauces and salsa spectacular. We tried them all with our chips. If you have a particular flavor, you'll get to experiment here.
Of course the tacos were excellent. The meat was expertly seasoned. The small tortillas were great and not dry like many can be. We left full and happy campers. This will mos def be a place I'd like to be called a regular. -

Been here a couple of times. I like how they bring out a variety of salsa's for your meal. The food was mediocre, I had a dish with carnitas both times, and it tasted like freezer burn. The service was good, both times the staff have been friendly and prompt.

This is a one of kind Mexican restaurant. I would say this is the best Mexican food I have had in the states. The selection of hot sauce and salsa is excellent. Even down to the kids quesadilla we ordered was delicious. Make sure you are prepared to wait for it is a small place and is always busy. Additionally it is only open until 8. This is the only reason they get 4 stars. Otherwise the food and service is deserving of 5 stars.

I love this place, Six types of salsas for your chips and entrees and all of them have great flavor! I usually get the Pambazo (Torta with bread dipped in red sauce). It is huge and absolutely delicious not to mention dirt cheap!

Very good food.
I had Enchiladas Ranchero, wife had the "No way Jose",
I really like both dishes but the "No Way Jose" was great, marinated steak in hot sauces with homade tortillas. They brought us a bunch of salsas when we arrived and I thought chips would follow, much to my dismay they did not.
The prices were average, would definitely choose this over the more popular Mexican restaurant in town. Decor is nice for a converted Dairy Queen.
4 stars, great but I was disappointed that there was no chips and salsa- also no nachos on the menu. -

I'm from New Mexico, where we get a lot of LEGIT Mexican food. This place is as freaking good as it gets. When the server warns a white girl like me that the camarones a la diabla plate is "very spicy" I get excited. It was just that, VERY spicy. Definitely the spiciest food I've had in Washington and it was DELICIOUS. The rice and beans are great and the menu itself has a range of amazing sounding options. The pollo adovado is very tasty and not spicy (in case you aren't a spice person).
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, look no further. Deliciosa! -

LOVE this place! The food is fresh and flavorful and the staff is really nice. Their sopitos and tacos are my favorite in town. I really like their smokey salsa...but my favorite is the avocado salsa (and I don't even care for avocados).

The only thing in terms of food that Yakima has to offer to a medical student living far from home. This place has great service and good tacos! I find myself coming back too often.

Best Spicy Dish in Yakima - No Way Jose Steak.
Great food, great prices. Love all the salsas they bring to the table. Can't really go wrong here as far as I can tell.
I love spicy food and had the No Way Jose steak. It was as spicy as advertised and delicious. The homemade corn tortillas are to die for.Listed in: Best of Yakima

Hell yea. This is some good Mexican food. While I've never spent any significant time in Mexico (tourist areas don't really count), I'm pretty sure this is the authentic stuff. Lots of actual Mexican people eating there and Yakima has a pretty big Hispanic population.
I had enchiladas (see photo). Good choice. Nice shredded beef, shredded cheese and cabbage on top, and a variety of salsas. They were not smothered in sauce. Rice and beans, while so often an afterthought at Americanized places, were actually really good. The tortilla chips were freshly baked and crispy.
While I got plenty of food, I didn't leave feeling like I was going to just fall asleep and then wake up and run to the bathroom. There is something less heavy about the food here than I'm used to.
Will definitely come back here next time I am in town. -

Pos:
Super friendly service.
7 different salsas and homemade chips.
Nice patio area.
Fair prices.
Neg:
No Fajitas?
Relatively bland marinated meats.
Very basic menu items, almost everything needs to be added as an extra to make your meal interesting. -

Good menu, but the azada burrito wasn't so great. Not enough meat and it was chopped too small, not crispy enough. Great salsa and tortillas. I'm willing to give them another try. Good potential.

Pambazo, a frisbee sized torta dunked in something red, and then pan fried. Get this with the adobada, and there is a good chance it will become your new favorite thing in the world. You get 6 salsas at your table, the chip situation is interesting (you get tostada shells), minor thing considering how awesome the food is. The waitstaff and owners are on point, even though it can get BUSY at times. Sopitos, horchatas, enchalada plate, this place is great. (forgive the spelling:)
This is a good time to be a fan of this style of mexican food, El Mirador, Mercedes, the vans and numerous other taquerias, you can't go wrong, but Antojitos takes it to the next level. -

Aye caramba! No way Jose steak is hardcore - not for the meek. Luckily the meek will inherit the earth because I am probably going to die after eating this meal. I can say I did it, but if I were to do it again I would skip the spice and order an entree where you can actually taste the food and not just the spice. My wife mentioned the chicken was a bit dry in the pollo adovado. But that was the only concern. The bathrooms were clean and the place is cute with attentive service to boot. It's Mexican restaurants like this that makes Eastern Washington such a gem. Thank God for diversity and capitalism. And may God bless America (they serve beer too if you haven't noticed)...

Very authentic Mexican food. I love shredded cabbage, cotija cheese, and hot, hot salsa. Their fish tacos are delicious, and I love their rice. My husband loves their enchiladas rancheras. Our server was extremely nice and quick. Bonus: they have Diet Coke in a can! It's our new favorite place.

Loved it. This is NOT some greasy TexMex. These are flavorful meals and the portions are just right. I am personally not crazy about Mexican food but I will definitively go there again when I get to town.

Their Chimichangas or what some would call "Rolled Tacos" come hot , fresh, non-greasy fried to perfection topped. The chicken inside so moist and flavorful. We also had the basic Asada tacos made with fresh tortillas and the sopitas?

They have a really good veggie burrito, an often overlooked menu item at most mexican joints. 5 star props for that.

Sooo good! Went there for lunch today and had the combo meal #8, burrito, 1 taco and rice n beans. The burrito was enormous, the tacos were so good i prob could have eaten a ton of those. Their rice and beans were freshly made, you could tell they hadn't been sitting all day. Overall it was a great place, service was good and the food was delish!!!

This was an excellent place to get a pulse of Yakima. The food was great! Never had a Pamboza before, but it was a treat. Good sauces to add to things - don't be afraid to ask for more if you need it. I'll be back for the food again!!!

Boston, MA
The best authentic Mexican food, north of southern California! For a Bostonian, it's hard to come by authentic Mexican food, and this place is such a welcome surprise! The chorizo burrito is beyond delicious, and all the salsa are so flavorful! I wish we had a spot like this in Boston. The staff were extremely friendly, and you could tell that it is a family run joint. Go there, you will not be disappointed!

Very good. Portions are huge. The torta is good but the sopitos are the best. Large variety of salsa/sauces to try on your food. Everytime I go to see my friends in Yak I always make a stop by this joint.

Loved the 5 different salsas. Ordered chicken and pork tacos, they were cheap and amazing and the rice that came with them was delicious!! My only recomendation would be to get better chips to go with all the amazing complementary salsas - they use tostada shells - kind of weird. We will be back for sure!

This is our favorite place to go for Mexican food when we visit our in-laws in Yakima. Their tortillas are home-made and so delicious and soft! I always get their tacos, the meat is moist and perfectly seasoned and the rice and beans are soooo good!! Even the sour cream tastes like Sour cream, everything here is so delicious and inexpensive. I especially love the line of salsas that they bring you, they are all excellent. Next time I am going to get what my father-in-law always gets, the Mexican sandwich. The bread is so freakin' awesome...

Antojitos is the standard by which all others Mexican restaurants will be judged. This is the real deal folks and altho I live in Seattle the thought has crossed my mind to go to Yakima for lunch at Antojitos. The drive would be worth it.

We love it here!! This is one of our favorite places in Yakima. The service is fantastic, the food is great - it never disappoints! I come to Antojitos with friends, with my husband, for work meetings, etc. I bring people here from out of town and they always want to go back to Antojitos. Some of my favorites are the Tacos al Carbon, totopos as an appetizer (beans with jalapenos and tostadas) fish tacos, pozole, love their rice, they make good mixed drinks...I think I really like everything there! I enjoy the outdoor seating area during the warm weather months.

Probably the best legitimately authentic Mexican food in town. If you want crappy Tex-Mex food, and value grease over taste, then this is not the place for you. The wait staff is very helpful and attentive, even tailoring their choices to support any vegans you may have tagging along. Food comes with an excellent selection of sauces, and there's not a bad choice on the menu.
