We stayed here for the Labor day weekend for 2 nights. Got the reservation easily, just a week prior to the long weekend. $18per night. On reaching we were pleasantly surprised to see the spacious campsites, unlike most others where the tents have to be too closely crammed near each other. Each campsite had its own picnic table and grill. Drinking water was easily available. Could also buy log for $5 from the ranger, which was fairly convenient. The owner is a sweet person.

The major downside was that there was no shower! We had to drive half a mile to take bath for $5 each,in another resort nearby.
Also, the bathrooms didn't have any shelves for changing clothes and no mirrors!

Rest, we completely enjoyed our stay, which was a large group of 10 , until almost kicked out after 2 nights stay.

Nice little campground on Lake Shasta easily accessible off Highway 5. The sites are far enough apart so you have privacy. Bathrooms are clean, they provide bear boxes for your food, and most sites are shaded by oak trees.

The problem with this campground is that it lies literally right next to the train tracks. Not knowing this when we arrived at 11pm, we were woken up twice in the middle of the night to train whistles & the earth rumbling beneath us. Now I don't usually mind train sounds, but when it feels like the train is going to barrel right through your tent in the middle of the night, it's a bit unsettling. Plus the freeway is close by so you can hear the sounds of cars & trucks all night. Not really what I want to hear while camping.

I awoke in the morning hoping to take a quick dip in the lake, when I walked to the edge I found a 30 foot drop with no lake access. I guess if Lake Shasta ever fills up there will be lakefront campsites but until then, you have to find somewhere else to get down to the lake.

I was glad we were just passing through therefore we only stayed one night.

We stayed here for Memorial Weekend because we wanted to hike at Whiskeytown NRA.  It's only about a half hr drive away so not too far.

We stayed at a single site which was $18 per night plus a $9 reservation fee when you reserve ahead.  877-444-6777 or http://www.reserveusa.com

The campsite has a picnic table & fire grill/pit.  Drinking water is available and flush & vault toilets too.  We stayed at campground #24 which I thought was too far from the flushed toilets.  Hate walking far to the bathrooms.  Bear bins available to put all your food & toiletries.

No showers at this campground.  Women's flushed toilets: 2 toilets & 2 sinks, no mirrors or shelves.  Lights turn off at 6AM in the bathroom.

Some jerk decided to park in our campsite while we were gone all day.  We had to get the camp host to help us.  He did and even gave us a voucher for a free nights stay to use in the future.  Nice service.
