3 reviews for Antlers at Vail
The Antlers of Vail is one of the few spots around that will let you bring your dogs, and not make you feel like you're hurting someone in the process.
Even though this is true, the dog friendly condos are the older ones. The carpeting is clean, but older. Some of the furniture certainly dates back to the eighties, and the art on the walls doesn't speak differently. In fact, at the condo we were in, there was a family picture of the folks who owned it. Pretty entertaining stuff, as they were all dressed in super vintage (80's) ski gear, and looked like something out of the move "Aspen Extreme". I got a kick out of it-- but I'm kinda dorky like that.
The rooms were very clean-- maid service was excellent. In fact, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
I really enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. They've done a lot with the landscaping, and hummingbirds and butterflies abound (we were there in the summer). The mountain views outside your windows are spectacular, and the location of the Antlers is central to everything.
A good deal for the dog lover out there...
Maybe I shouldn't be spoiling my secret. Oh well : )
The Antlers at Vail has three things going for it: location, location, location. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the Vail Gondola, you can be out your front door and hitting the slopes in a matter of minutes, without ever having to get in a car or on a bus.
When Mama Q, Little Q and I were in Vail for Taste of Vail (http://tasteofvail.com) a multi-day wine and food festival that also includes multiple fundraising auctions, we got to stay in a one-bedroom condo at the Antlers. Each condo is independently owned, and - key word here - decorated. Our condo was so over-the-top Western that it was unintentionally kitsch.
But that's Vail, baby! And if you haven't been, be sure to bring your ten gallon hat and wool-lined denim coat. Pack an extra bag if you must, for these two items, combined with Uggs, seemed to be uniform in the shopping district of Vail.
Ah, but I digress. Our condo came equipped with everything we needed: a fully equipped kitchen, towels, blankets, the whole nine yards. The gas-powered fireplace was sweet, and the views killer. The walls are thick, and there was little sound passing from room to room. Important to note in a ski town where some people are partying until the time our son gets up in the morning.
There are no internal hallways at the Antlers. Your front door opens up on an outdoor balcony and walkway that leads to interior stairs or an elevator. They keep the walkways cleared, but it is still radically cold as soon as you step outside your front door.
There is a hot-tub. The front desk has DVDs you can check out to watch in your room. There is free internet access, but it is hard-wired. If you no longer travel with a CAT-5 cable they will loan you one at the front desk.
There is no restaurant at the Antlers, but it is next door to the Marriott, which has a decent restaurant for emergency needs. Most importantly: Vail has a great free public transit system. Catch a shuttle from Denver airport and you won't need a car the whole time you are there.
You can catch a bus into town to shop, eat, or hit a market and bring stuff home to cook in your condo. An important option if you are on a budget.
Love staying at the Antlers. It is like a home away from home. Right in the middle of Lionshead, you can walk anywhere you need to get to. Great pool and hot tubs, lots of fun for kids. Dog friendly...all around great spot to stay in Vail.
Some of the rooms are getting a little tired and could use some updating. But always clean and welcoming.
