My mom, fiance, and I had lunch here while we were in town for Christmas. We all enjoyed our sandwiches, and had some bread pudding for dessert. They are the kind of sandwiches you would make at home, except for the homemade bread which is delicious!

We found this place using Yelp yesterday, looking for a place to get off the freeway for a while. The building doesn't look like much outside, but inside is quite cozy and warm. It's a little sandwich deli located in a large antique mall building.
I ordered the club sandwich, which comes on egg bread. Anne had the tuna sandwich, which she asked to be grilled (yum!). Her side was pasta salad, mine was the macaroni salad. Neither salad was very good - just bland. The macaroni salad was kind of odd - almost like potato salad.
But Anne LOVED the tuna sandwich. My club was OK - the egg bread was a little odd. But it was a decent sandwich and I liked it.
Service was kinda funny - even though there were only 3 tables with customers, it took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged... the wait staff (3 or 4) were gathered around a table with a local patron just visiting, and never even said hello or offered water to us until we finally flagged them. So I guess if you're a local, the service is outstanding... but if you're a stranger, well - just wait a while - we'll get to you eventually LOL!
But overall, it was 3-Yelp-stars - A-OK

I'm lucky to have found this place during a work trip. Kalama's one of those sleepy little towns only a few blocks wide. The deli fits right in with the antique mall. The overall feel of it is cozy and, of course, a little quaint. There's something comforting about biting into slices of homemade bread still hot from the oven. They load the sandwiches with plenty of crispy bacon, turkey and cranberry, or whatever meat and veggies you pick. The lunch combos are filling and there is a good selection of homemade desserts.
It's just off I-5 exit 30, a good stop for any road trip. Go and rediscover the charms of little town America before it was overrun by chain restaurants.
