I love the Antioch Bridge!
Well yes I do. As a native Californian I am very proud of all our Bay Area bridges!
The Antioch Bridge is probably the Bay Areas least traveled and least known bridge.
It starts in Contra Costra County and end in Sacramento County.
This bridge is a toll bridge and also allows bicyclists and pedestrians. -

I have been over this bridge countless times. Once I got into a fender bender right outside the toll plaza while heading onto the bridge and had to pull over.
While exchanging information with the guy a pack of wild pit bulls started running on the bridge. The guy I just hit had a some woman with him and she said,"Oh, we should get them they're going to get hurt."
I looked at her and just shook my head and said,"You would be crazy to go after those dogs." She didn't understand why we shouldn't save them. Hello its a pack of Pit Bulls from god knows where in Antioch!!!!
This bridge is narrow and scary but the view on the way back in to Antioch is really gorgeous on a clear day. You can see Mt. Diablo, all of Antioch and the Delta.
At night when a plane is flying over while driving at the top its a crazy optical illusion because the plane looks like its right there, right above your head.
Its an odd bridge and if your going towards Rio Vista its almost like a bridge to nowhere. I used to date a guy who lived in Dixon and that was the fastest way to get there from Brentwood.
Still $5 for this bridge. Kind of expensive but whatever. I don't go over this bridge for personal reasons anymore so technically I'm not paying for it. Or am I? -

I'm not out in far east Contra Costa County much, but if I'm taking the back way to Sacramento or coming back from the mountains through the Delta, I love going over this bridge! The Antioch Straight Bridge cuts a distinct profile from a distance and it's precisely the narrowness and steep climb that makes this fun and safe "roller coaster" experience.
