When the boyfriend told me that we'd be making the trip to Philadelphia this winter, I just knew I needed to fulfill my girlish dream of seeing the first Anthropologie store. I had seen photos of the building online before and was curious to see this fancy shop's flagship location. Located in an old granite mansion in Rittenhouse Square, this location is seemingly large but seemed to have less than the locations I have visited in California. However, 4 floors of adorable (and expensive) clothes, books, and sundries is fun to wander around in and the architecture alone was worth the visit. There was a beautiful stained glass dome ceiling inside (see my photo) and the sale section located on the basement level featured everything under the sun. I grabbed a couple things (at 75% off!) then bid adieu to possibly the only girlie store I really love.

I attempted to order my wife some Christmas gifts on Black Friday morning on http://Anthropologie.com.  I live in Southern California so I got up extra early to purchase these gifts with the purported 50% off promotion.  I completed the purchase and received a confirmation.  About 6 hours later I received an email cancelling my order as they had no stock in the products I ordered.  Obviously, their website is antiquated and unable to verify in-stock positions and their buyers are incapable of understanding how to keep items in-stock.

I was very calm and nice with the Customer Service rep when I inquired about the cancellation.  I was not offered any promotion or apology but the Customer Service rep only gave my pre-progammed responses and then got a very repugnant attitude when I expressed my dissapointment.  I will never EVER buy from Anthropologie again.  I have purchased many things over the years from them but NO MORE.  This goes for their affiliate companies too. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!

This is my favorite Anthropologie stores of all the ones in PA.  It's the biggest, prettiest, and they have the largest sale collection (an entire room on the bottom floor).  They are also dog friendly and I bring my 70lb lab here all the time.

The only downfall is that it gets incredibely crowded on the weekends, you may have a bit of a wait for a fitting room or to check out and the sale section gets intolerably packed.

This Anthropologie is one of the prettiest stores around. Even if you're not looking for clothing, it's worth a stop for the beautiful stained glass dome and coffered ceilings.

The merchandise selection is extensive. They have a shoe section and lots of home products like bedding, kitchen accessories, and lamps. As far as clothing goes, it would be difficult not to find something. Dresses, skirts, blouses, and jackets, pretty much anything you need, although they're a bit pricey sometimes. But this store has a really good sale section, so even if your budget is a bit tight there should be something for you.

Took my girlfriend shopping here because it's here favorite store.  I must admit, I love all the creative things they have as well.  The home goods are very nice.  Forget about the merchandise though, YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS HOUSE!  This is Drexel's old house.  It is a solid granite mansion.  I was annoying every sales clerk by asking a million questions about the history of the place.  I was awe struck.  It is incredible to say the least.  Be sure to check out every room.  Simply amazing.

I was never much of an "Anthro" girl due to their more-than-high-for-the-name prices but the store has definitely grown on me... It's a little "Banana Republic" mixed with a whole lot of "Urban Outfitters" which fits my somewhat eclectic clothes-personality to a T...

The store is pretty big, the sales room is usually packed with wonderful items in a variety of sizes rather than just 0 and 14, like other stores, just because no one buys them as much... In addition to the variety of sizes, there is also a pretty good variety of the type of clothes, from maxis to minis to blouses to tanks, to hot pants to red jeans, to journals to candles to pillows and comforters...

I still think the price is a bit too much and I also think that having a dressing room all the way on the top floor is not making it comfortable for the customer to shelp their potential buys around...

Anthropologie is hit or miss for me.  When it's a hit, it means I found a unique and flattering item for a reasonable price.  When it's a miss, it's usually a TOTAL miss.  I don't do boxy tops or twee dresses, which is much of what keeps Anthro in business.

The Walnut Street location stands out because it's such a beautiful store.  A beautifully restored four-story mansion. a-buzz with Anthro-hipster sales associates (all of whom are very nice, by the way), hipster girl power music playing, and the air vaguely scented with whatever that rose perfume is that clothes from Anthropologie always smell like.  Shopping here is an enjoyable experience, even if you don't buy anything.  Props to Anthro's marketing team.

Holy bejesus, this is one of the biggest Anthropologie stores I have ever seen. I was with the hubby, so we didn't get to spend as much time as I might have otherwise (meaning forever; yes I would move in -- have you seen their canopy bed?!).  Anyway, if you love Anthropologie and you are in Philly, you have no excuse for not stopping into this awesome location.

Great decorative ideas & unique items - a nice experience!

In addition to clothing, they sell home décor - lights, hooks, door handles...and more...

I love wandering through the store.

The bargain items are in the basement - shop at the end of the season for normal prices, some actually good sale prices.

I think this would be a great place to find to get a special gift for someone that you want to pay more for.

Dressing room on the 4th floor

Lots of staff to answer questions...

    Minus a star for price
Minus a star for ease of dressing room access, long lines and complicated register checkouts...their computer system seems cumbersome

Give the Philly Anthro SAs a raise! I travel quite a bit and have been to Anthropologie locations in California, Arizona, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, but the ladies at the Philly location are the most patient, knowledgeable and helpful SAs. Somehow, even when people are new, they are efficient, considering the store is so massive. On the 50% off sale days, they were so upbeat and friendly, which cannot be easy during 10 hour shifts of local chaos and madness, with long lines and the phones ringing off the hook.

I'm a big anthro-holic. I love visiting the flagship location if I ever find myself in Philly, by Walnut and Rittenhouse Square.

This trip I was being very VERY good and did not buy anything (my birthday is coming up and I am saving my purchasing for post birthday) but it's just a pleasure to walk through the store- I like to go all the way upstairs and make my way down, and take in all their beautiful merchandise and the particular beauty of the location- I love the domed ceiling, the giant mirror in one of the landings, and how the place seems to be very big yet small and un-intimidating at the same time.

Like others have said on this location, the sale section is huge, and though it's in the busy shopping area of the city, I never find that this location is super crowded to the point that you need to fight with people to check out the sale merchandise (ahem, Rockerfeller Center). The sale section is pretty huge and everything is just so beautifully merchandised that it's really very hard to leave without purchasing something gorgeous.

Damn you, URBN.  I want to hate you so badly.  Not only do you underpay my talented friends, most of your nigh-on disposable products are made by even more flagrantly underpaid people on other continents!

Yet you continue to define the aesthetic of millions of design-conscious people. Including myself, le sigh. Though there are always new, covetable pieces by Urban Outfitter's youthful house brands, Anthropologie's soft-focus, post-preppy prettiness speaks to women of many ages and cultures. The day before Thanksgiving, that flurry of femininity kept the registers cha-chinging for hours on end. The fact that employee discounts are extended to card-bearing, photo-I.D. producing friends and family this week also had something to do with it, I suspect.

This particular Anthro is housed in a historic Rittenhouse Square mansion and stuffed with women's apparel, accessories, hilariously spendy shoes, housewares, a lifetime's supply of scented candles and the famous Basement Sale Room.  It's the first location I ever visited (when it used to be Urban years ago) and still my favorite.  The perfect place to buy a gift for your favorite femme à la mode.

This particular Anthropologie location is just stunning. Everything is designed so well and the layout within a historic home that used to be owned by Mr. Drexel himself is just great.
I bought two teapots that I didnt want to carry all the way home so they kindly shipped it for free! Ah-mazing.

I am always way too naughty in this particular store....the sale section is HUGE and thankfully there is an elevator from the basement up to the top floor where the fitting rooms are located (since my arms are always ready to fall off from being so full).

The girls that work here are all dollfaces, and it remains on a VERY short list of places I always go when back in Philly.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Anthropologie!!  I can literally spend hours there. If i'm feeling a bit down, I instantly feel better once I step inside.  I always imagine what it would be like to live in the store!  It is absolutely beautiful.  They do a great job with all the displays and its always changing. Also, I always love when old buildings have been well preserved and the original features maintained despite being used for a different purpose. As well as clothes, they have really lovely items for the home.  I always find myself drifting of into a dream world where I live this charmed life and money is no issue.  In this life, I spend my days thinking about interior design and entertaining guests in my beautiful Rittenhouse townhouse where I would be serving tea and cakes on funky plates with matching napkins and wearing one of those fancy aprons they sell.

I really do love Anthropologie, and before they opened in London last year, I always brought my friends visiting from home there.  I think I felt at home there as it's one of the few american chain stores that had that eclectic european feel that i'm used to.  The only reason i'm not giving 5 stars is I think some of the things are a bit overpriced.  Also the prices don't seem consistent, some items are quite reasonable and then others are, "Seriously?! You expect me to pay $200 for that?!"  They have a large sale section downstairs that is always being restocked so it is worth checking regularly.  You can get some good bargains in there.

Today was their holiday shopping event which is always great.  Same shop with all the things love but with free wine, snacks and gift wrapping.  Amazing!

Imagine.  It's early fall, the air is crisp.  In a tiny bistro in the Marais, you are sipping a café-au-lait.  Nibbling on a pain de chocolat, you are halfway through reading Ernest Hemingway's "The Sun also Rises".   A lone accordion player is churning out tourist friendly tunes à-la-Edith Piaf nearby.  Set scene...

That is what Anthropologie sells.  Dreamy, feminine, european, shabby-bohemian chic.  From measuring cups, to bedding, soaps, upholstered furniture, shoes, books, undergarments, bags and apparel a-plenty - this flagship store offers to dress up your lifestyle from A to Z.

It's hard not to swoon in this gorgeous historical corner property; an airy, well-lit perfect four floor venue in which they sell their wares.  The store constantly reconfigures their product lines to keep it fresh and new.  With the addition of more ample change rooms on the fourth floor, you can start on the basement floor (where they currently have all the sale merchandise in the back) and move your way up.

They carry a wide range of designers (Nanette Lepore, Marimekko, odille, Tracey Reese, Moth, Ella Moss, Maeve, Fei, Moulinette Soeurs to name a few) with similar esthetics and price points.

The visual merchandisers are always spot on with beautiful, innovative and fantastical displays. The background music is appropriate (they seem to like a lot of french and jazzy tunes) and most importantly their staff is friendly and attentive (and stylish, of course!) without being overbearing.

The place is also perfect for a housewarming gift (basement floor for homewares).  Few gripes: their inventory caters more towards the slimmer girl, so don't expect to find many sizes that accomodate the curvier woman.  The sale section in the store is often a bit of a free-for-all and their shoe selection isn't kept well for the price that they charge even at a sale price.

I usually go to this store on Monday or Tuesday evenings when I have the luxury to stroll around in peace without the crowds, gather armfuls of stuff to try on and hope that when wearing my potential wardrobe it will take me back to Paris.

Of all the Anthropologie stores in the country, this one's my favorite because of two reasons: the interior design/architecture and the sale section.

The interior is like Alice In Wonderlad meets The Secret Garden. It calls to the inner girl in me that loves Disneyland and dainty things that sparkle. I love that it's on 4 split levels so it breaks up the space, but then my thighs feel the burn when I have to walk up the stairs (I call it my excercise for the week).

The best part is the sale section. I've stopped looking at the other floors so I don't tempt myself with things I can't afford and go straight to the basement. My closet prized possessions have come from the sale section - 2 Moulinette Soeurs dresses for $40 each and a pair of seafoam green wedges for $30. It's my favorite because it includes not only clothes and shoes (the only Anthro store I've been to that has a sale shoe section), but also bedding, homewares, and knicknacks.

It gets busy on the weekends, lots of snooty girls and their snootier moms for some reason. But whatever, I'll bust a cap for those pair of size 7 sandals thankyouverymuch.

Note: The basement level doesn't get good cell phone reception. I found that out when the bf was trying to call me for an hour and got po'd when I didn't pick up. Meh.. small sacrifice.

I know it's silly to love a place where EVERY SHIRT is $100 and EVERY DRESS is $300, whether it's by Tracy Reese or some nameless gal in Guatemala, but I do. And the Philly store is the mothership!

I get ants in my pants whenever I drive up to Philly, knowing no matter what I'll be heading to Walnut Street, whether it's pre-dinner, pre-club mess or the next day. It's four stories of overpriced bliss. I don't care, I always walk out of there feeling extra girly... and trust me a smoking, drinking, 30-something who still doesn't know how to put on make up the right way needs that from time to time!

#107 Being their flagship location, this Anthropologie rivals the best of stores out there. The original architecture of the building works so well with Anthro's personality, with its spiral staircase and beautiful ceilings. Every time I walk inside, I can't help but be in awe of the beautifully aesthetic displays that Anthro's interior design team work so hard on. At the minimum, I always spend at least 30 minutes inside this store, enough time to wander around each room and floor. To be honest, I don't think I own a single piece of Anthro clothing or jewelry, but this place is too much of a visual treat for me not to hang out here some times.

All Anthropologies are nice. This one has character. It even has a grand staircase. The Anthropologie building has a spiral staircase leading to many levels. It's like going through a home filled with many fabulous things and clothes to last a lifetime. Sigh. I'd love a closet this big.

The displays are lovely from chalkboards with tea cup images built out of chalk to tables of wedges and coffee table books to tickle your fancy. The  shirts and dresses are hanging on racks with space to breathe. The only spot where everything was crowded was in the basement sale area. I'll rummage through any sale. That's how you get the best deals. My $10 slacks were found on Rockefeller Center but here on Walnut I found the cutest bird shaped dispenser. I won't use it to hold food. I'm going to display it as a pop of color in my room. Plus the bird's bright yellow whistling face makes me happy.

Anthropologie is the type of store that will make you ponder purchasing a $30 headband, inspire you to wear a French frock, and even turn you on to quilted blankets when clearly you are into silk. I love Anthropologie and I am in love with this location. They have an elevator with a couch in it. A couch! I thought secret couches were limited to Nordstrom bathrooms. Now us women have them in our elevators. It's too genius.

Even though the prices are out of this world as in $$$ the selection this year for the fall is amazing, cute and very "Mad Men" flavoring -my fav AMC show!

They are now carrying these delicious light fragrances called Tokyomilk priced at $28 for 1 oz. (I suggest buying the sample pack which is only $49 online at http://theperfumedcour...)

Also Lovin the selection of cute sweaters (see photo I added) with lots of layers, embroidery, buttons - soft material a plus.

I ended buying the reading glasses tres cool by A.J. Morgan and getting them replaced with my prescription reading lenses. Only $28 for the glasses with "Modern Eye" styling. A deal!

I also ended buying the cute lambs wool flapper style hat which covered my ears - a must for the winter.

The clothing selection was to die for but over my budget. I'll have to wait till they go on sale or better yet; catch a consignment deal.

Some trustfundian will surely get a gift she doesn't like and sell it at Green Street or Buffalo Exchange. Also a great place to catch J. Crew deals too! Why buy retail?

Update: I bought those stupid samples. they are so small its not worth it. Just pick a few you like its a better deal.

Let me just say that I am giving the Rittenhouse Anthropologie five stars because of the fact that when I was at the register, none other than Lauren Graham (the mother) from the Gilmore GIrls was being rung up beside me.

That aside, Anthropologie is the Urban Outfitters for mothers and young professionals who still want to be hip, but tame enough for work and children.  The very reason I shop here is because I am always guaranteed to find a "classic" piece - a dress or top that will stand the test of time.

It is overpriced - and much of their stock is questionable.  I was under the impression that the bohemian look went out of style a couple years ago.  However, the sales are wonderful, and the building itself is gorgeous.  That's enough for me.

The sheer FABULOSITY (Ask Kimora, she says it's a word) of this place is enough to make me want to dress up JUST BECAUSE, the next time I come here.  From the building to the merchandise, this store is four floors of DARLING!

As the resident "girly-girl" of my circle of friends, I was already an Anthropologie fan, but this store right here just reaffirmed what I already knew...I love this place so much I want to take it out behind the middle school and get it pregnant!*

A friend and I spent about two hours in this location, looking for the perfect dress for an event, and she ended up with three spectacular purchases.

I'm going to be honest, shopping here as often as I'd like would require that I enter a higher tax bracket, but I can absolutely do a  few pieces here and there.  I love the fact that there's not just a sale section, there is a sale ROOM.  If you can't find something you love in there, then something is wrong with you!  The housewares section alone makes me want to buy a house, just so I can decorate it!

Absolutely the best of the Anthropologies I've visited thus far!

    * You can thank Tracy Morgan for that literary pearl!

This is my Mecca.  I try to avoid this store for it will eventually land me in the poor house, however, I fail every time!

Poverty aside, I have always been attracted to this store since i was a little girl.  Previously it was an urban outfitters (which is now right down the street) and I have very fond memories of doing huge back to school shopping trips there to be the coolest when classes commenced.  That never happened, but I still love this building.

Sure the clothes are a bit pricey, but for what you get, but I think it is well worth it.  Every item has a little detail or doodad that makes it different from everything else out there.  People never cease to compliment my clothes and if you shop the sale rack, you can get some great deals.  Plus its on the bottom floor, so you just start at the bottom and work your way up.

No other store compares with displays though and even if you are not interested in the clothes, a trip is still worth it!  Christmas is the best time of year to visit in my opinion....their little vignettes of holiday cheer are better than any Christmas manger I have seen.

Where this store outshines others is in their staff.  In February I was shopping for the essential birthday dress to go out on the town in and of course I began my search at anthropologie....I came across the perfect party dress, but was sad to find that it was not in my size...I went to the register and was helped by the nicest girl who made it her mission to get me in the dress.  My only regret is not getting her name....anyways, after multiple calls, she found the dress in Georgia....and arranged for it to be overnighted to me....this girl went well above and beyond.  The dress arrived in time and helped make the birthday better!

Gifts are easy finds here too since they have an extensive housewares section.

Call me crazy, but whenever I travel in the states, i find the closest anthro and make a trip....each store is its own fairyland in which i want to live.

    Four stars for uniqueness.
    Not five stars for ripoff.

If you are into fashion/clothes and have money, then you will probably shop here and that's cool 'cause you have so much frickn' money it doesn't even matter. In fact, you could probably lose $100 on the subway and not notice.

But if you are into fashion/clothes and don't work on Wallstreet, then you know InterMix, Scoop NYC and Anthropologie are all just feeding off consumers who like to elite shop without the research. Meaning: Antro has some really hippy/soft/beautiful threads, but so does Urban if you search. in fact, if you are right out of college with loans but still want to be chic and haven't yet developed an affinity for snobbishness, then you can find the same styles (more or less) and trends at Temptation, Nordstrom Rack or Zara.

The craftsmanship and materials at Antro cannot be beat. But for $300 for a sun dress, I think I can take a few loose threads on a $80 dress from Zara.

The test of how amazing a store is, I brought my DH in here with me last week. Although he has little to no interest in women's clothing, he too was  lost for hours in the amazing windows, architectural details, and out of this world displays.

Visually enchanting, filled with wardrobe ideas, amazing colors and patterns. This isn't just a clothing store, it's practically a lifestyle.

On my trip home, I thought about how I could easily just go live in the Anthropologie store. I bet they have a coffee maker, a fridge and I could probably get onto someone's wifi in Rittenhouse square.

Not that I'd need to, I think my cohort is liking the lovely housewares and is quickly becoming in favor of a whole apartment redo.

Lastly, this is deal central for shoes. You will not find more lovely, unique shoes than here, in the basement. Go forth, and tread cutely.

Sure, Anthropologie is great.  They've always got good stuff - but this store is amazing.  Being that the company is headquartered in Philly, I like to think of this Anthro as it's mothersip.  It's humongous and elegant and antique and embodies in a building all that the Anthro woman is.

if it's in the catalogue or on the web you'll find it here, not to mention the BEST sale department of any Anthropologie, ever.  She dressed me in high school, sent me to college freshman year with my comforter, and furnished the studio apartment that I live in NYC in now.  I miss her so, but everytime I return to Philly, I visit her as well.  After all these years, we are like family you know :)

So many cute things!  So expensive!  Even though most stuff is out of my price range, I still love wandering around the store's four stories and falling in love with all the stuff.  I basically want to live here.

I did buy a really cute corduroy jacket last time.  I figured the splurge was worth it since I can wear it all the time and I just couldn't resist. Oh and I also bought a pair of tights... at $12 they weren't exactly a bargain, but they were the exact shade of teal I wanted and compared to everything else in the store, they seemed damn cheap.

    Dear Anthropologie,

I would like to move in to your flagship store. It appears you have everything I might need: adorable clothes and shoes, comfortable and stylish bedding and furniture, and a soundtrack that makes me feel like I'm Zooey Deschanel.

Let me know when I can send over the moving van. My bags are packed.

    Love,

    Molly K

Oh Anthropologie, how I loath to love you. I can't even allow myself to go into this store unless I'm prepared to empty my wallet. The last time I went, I accompanied two of my friends, and left my wallet at home...good thing, because I fell in love with a dress that I surely would've bought, if I had my trusty credit card on me.

I read in Philadelphia Magazine a while ago, that the man who created this store understood what women want to experience when they're shopping. They want it to be an experience, and be made to feel special...well, he nailed it on the head! Everything in that store is awesome and SPECIAL. I want EVERYTHING in there. The clothes are cool, stylish, and unique, and all of the home accessories are so warm and inviting....

I've actually considered trying to get a part time job there to feed my Anthropologie addiction. Working there may allow me to wear pretty dresses, but being in the store that long might place me in a cardboard box on the side of the street....might be worth it if I have their bedding though :)

Let's face the facts, some of which have already been stated in other reviews. Anthropologie is the same company as Urban Outfitters. Sometimes you can see accessories at Anthropologie (a pair of sunglasses I took note of recently, for exmaple) and then stroll down the street to Urban Outfitters and find the exact pair for about half the price. This is why I subtract one star. But I love Anthrpologie, otherwise.

Their items are special. Everything seems "special". Old timey and modern at the same time. Now that I'm a young professional with a home to call my own (wall hooks to hang, knobs to change, etc.), Anthro is right up my alley. Their knobs! Oh, the knobs.

They have a wide selection of everything. And while their clothes are a little on the steep side, their sale section is huge, and the prices of the homewares are, I think, appropriate. Also, their selection of books is unique and great, but also marked up quite a deal from what you could get them for on Amazon - but it's a good place to get ideas if you're looking for something interesting to put on your shelf or coffee table.

Also, with the popularity of Mad Men, everyone wants to be a little Joan Holloway or Betty Draper (style-wise, at least, in Betty's case), and you can probably find the right items here to pull it off.

This place is four floors heaven for the fashion forward, if, and I DO mean IF you can afford it!
They have some truly beautiful dresses here, sweaters, pants, furniture etc, but the price tags are scary for someone on my budget.  I found a perfume here that I've decided I will have to buy...but surprisingly enough..it wasn't that expensive...only $45 which is what i usually pay for my very sexy from Victoria's Secret.
I love love love their displays!  Just really great set up.  It's very comfortable to browse...no sales person jumping in your way every few minutes.  There is a room full of sales downstairs, but to be honest...even most of the sales items are pretty up there!
Great place to check out either way!

FIVE. I love this place. hands down, LOVE. The only thing I own from there is a couple of cabinet knobs (they have an awesome selection of cool different ones...I think as low as $6 a pop if they're not too ornament).

But it's just something about the downstairs level that's just floor to ceiling books and plates with little graphic pictures of birds on them, and dishcloths of a thousand colors, and somehow it all looks perfect and you'd just give your left (or non dominant..) arm to have your apartment look like that. Go to Anthro, go downstairs, and experience.

STRIKING!... DELICIOUS!... AND MY HEY-SEUS THIS PERFUME I JUST PURCHASED IS BLISS! I THANK YOU ANTHROPOLOGIE FAMILY!

Wow. Where do I begin?... As far as the family of stores under their umbrella I found Urban Outfitters first. I totally dug the quirkiness & funky stylings there, but MY WORD Anthopologie is completely EARTHY, SOPHISTICATED GLAM! If your inner girlie-girl does not peek her head out & do cartwheels on the way to a tea party you may as well place yourself perpendicular to the direction of SEPTA's rails & call it a night!

Although I have passed the building several times making a "note to self" to stop in one day, I now feel as though I have done myself a disservice from not visiting sooner. I have always been a big fan of fine architecture & this property is a treasure trove for amazing pieces. If you walk into the building & head to the rightmost room & then look up... there are several portraits painted amongst individual molding acting as frames. Now that I read from a fellow Yelper that it was once a private residence I'm curious to know if that faces were those of the family members who spent their lives here. There are also grand fireplaces stacked on top of each other & found myself staring at the arrangement with curiosity & awe. CLEARLY there are some freakishly creative people out there & I would love to meet those in charge of design there!

That's just talking about the property! I also agree with another Yelper who said this is more like a grown up Urban Outfitters, yes there are still hippe-esque pieces, but if you take a look there are sleek business pieces as well. I stopped with excitement when I saw a book about Annie Leibovitz & her stories behind some of her work. As a photographer that was an awesome find & I'll be back for that! ; )

Now yesterday was my first trip in & I tried a Tokyo Milk perfume tester & told the sales rep., I am going to "live" with this today & see if it makes it, if so I'll be back tomorrow. Welp... I just purchased French Kiss (No. 15) today & couldn't make it more than two blocks without getting compliments as I sprayed it again today! I also bought one of those funky cabinet knobs (it looks like a face of a watch) & their houseware items are absolutely adorable. This place makes me want to be an interior decorator solely so I can spend other people's money to create stunning & personalized spaces for them! Please don't ever let me fall into a 'Duck Tales' pile of money in a vault (remember that?!) because I will make a lot of Philadelphians (& visitors) upset as the shelves, bins, & walls would be bare there!

    OFFICIALLY I AM A FAN & I'M COMING BACK FOR MORE! ; )

Way better than Urban Outfitters down the street (where clothes fall apart on the first washing).... but things are still kinda pricey for what you're getting. I actually love the home section though - they have really creative knick knacks and housewares. The sale section is also pretty good, since home stuff never goes out of style!

This is a great Anthropologie store - probably their "flag ship" store, since the company was started in Philadelphia. The building itself is really impressive.

For the ladies who appreciate fashion! (God knows I do)

Alright girls - here is the deal. Whether you can afford Anthropologie or not (their prices are a tad on the expensive side) it is WELL worth the visit. Not only is this once previously-lived-in mansion the most gorgeous, well preserved store in the city, but between the 4 stories of fabulousness is something for everyone. They not only carry clothes, shoes, and accessories, but every kind of homegood you can think of. My girlfriends and I have spent hours in this store, even if we never had the intent to buy anything. And their sales staff is always attentive without being pushy, and has never been anything but kind to me.

The overall style is kitchy meets classic, from their clothes that are simple with a little something "extra", to their homegoods that all have their own unique character. EVERYTHING is well crafted and highly detailed, and when you can afford to, is worth shelling out for.

Worth a visit, regardless - especially being right across from Rittenhouse!

This is my favorite store and of its locations, this is the flagship and the most impressive.  The building itself is very impressive and as a frequent shopper, Anthropologie designers are so amazing because they continuously transform the space.

Oh, and there's clothing.  Ah, the clothing.  If you embrace your inner girl, this store is for you.  Beautifully made...some of it almost looks handmade, any seamstress would appreciate these pieces.  They're pricey and you'd expect them to be.

The sale section is downstairs and often it's disappointing because the most unwearable, most "runway" styles end up there.  It's worth digging through though but if you fall in love with something that's full price in the store don't wait for it to go on sale.  Designs aren't heavily stocked and often sell out quickly.

If you want a piece of clothing or two to puncuate or update your wardrobe, it's worth tossing down some money here.

If you like Anthropologie, you HAVE to visit the flagship store in Rittenhouse Square. It was an experience.

I was derailed. Normally, I head straight for the sales section. No exceptions. Except this store is huge and I was repeatedly derailed by pretty, little things. There were 4 levels, including the basement. The top floor is bed, bath, and perfumes. The Anthropologie buyers have gathered a fabulous collection of delicious scents and knickknacks. The second floor has clothes and some stationary, including Orla Kiely. They also have Orla handbags. The first floor houses the cash registers, jewelry, and more clothes. I finally found the sale section on the ground floor along with more gorgeous chinaware, kitchen items, etc.

This is definitely a boyfriend-friendly store. Even if you're not interested in the store's contents, you'd be amazed at how the store has used the original historic(?) building's layout and architecture to its advantage.
