It's still too expensive and I have conflicting feelings about my obsession, BUT! Here's a secret tip:

On Tuesdays, they have super-secret sales. The sales are either on home goods or on clothes, and they're only on Tuesdays, and also? They alternate, so every other week it's clothes or home-y stuff like candles and throw pillows and all that delightfulness.

And don't forget the always on sale cave in the back of the store. Sure, it seems strange that you have to go into a tiny room and be all smushed against other folks while trying to peruse their discounted wares, but whatever. I like the sale cave.

    Um. It's Tuesday.

    Eff.

I guess if I was rich I might like this store more. I usually end up wandering around finding something here and there that is pretty or nice but the price always leaves me cold. I think the quality can be hit or miss, too. I've seen dresses where each one had at least one button falling off (not from the sale room, either) and the last time I was in, I couldn't try a sale skirt on (still $60, though) because the zipper was broken.

Their housewares are pretty and unique and tend to be a little more reasonably priced.

"Do you remember how we managed before
We could afford real nervous breakdowns
    Or before the Anthropologie store
Was erected on Indian burial grounds"

I can't help but think of Ben Folds every time I see this store.  Just one of those things...

They don't have anything in my range of clothing, true, but I've bought enough gifts here to feel like I've contributed.  And, should Powerball come calling, there are some pretty awesome ideas for setting up a room with furniture.

They really do carry style well here, in clothes and in decor.  I've always liked the people who work here that I've dealt with, but this store always felt a little more closed off than it's East Side copy Urban Outfitters.  The actual feel of the place, though, is entirely 3rd Ward trendy.

Which is why there's that missing star...I couldn't afford to put all five of them up.  At least not til there's some awesome sale.

Note*** Please see Rachel F.'s review, because we are kindred spirits with respect to our feelings about Anthro.

I have been known to spend OBSCENE amounts of money in this store.  I have also been known to walk in circles throughout the store, try on 20 items, and walk out empty handed because I can't justify spending the money.  Usually, I have NO problem spending money on well-made, unique articles of clothing.  I used to work at Moxy (oh, how I miss thee)...and I have a refined taste for good fabrics and clothing design (you should see what I spend on a good pair of jeans.)  But sometimes, the chinese-made, mass-produced, over-priced, but totally cute clothing in Anthro is too much for me.  All I can think about is the unreasonable mark-up, and I leave completely disappointed.

But...then there are the times that I just don't care, and I want some d@mn cute clothes.  Goodbye $300.  You would have been wasted on something else anyways.

So the verdict is....when I'm feeling depressed, impulsive, and in need of shopping therapy, Anthro is my go-to.  When I'm thinking rationally, I can't do it.

Need a quality dress for a vacation, wedding, or night out? Want to look fab and pick up a gift for a friend (lets say new home, new job, or new husband) this is the place to do it! I love this store, it's got great style, and the location can't be beat! I enjoy the sale den in the back of the store, I have gotten some great deals from there! Sure, somethings are a bit expensive, but overall, you get what you pay for, and there is some quality stuff here!

Anthropologie employees can be sticky-uppy, but these ladies were nice and helpful.

It doesn't really matter either way, I will still come back to scour your sales racks.

Where I spend most of my money in Milwaukee. :)

I love, love LOVE the unique, feminine and flat-out beautiful clothing, jewelry and accessories here. Hell, the home goods too!

I work dangerously close to this location, and what a treat. My coworkers and I will walk down in the dead of winter to see what's new each week. They turn things over fairly quick and there's always new stuff to try, new stuff on sale (though warning: the sale room in the back is not for the faint of heart. On a busy day, it can be crowded, full of elbows and a bit stuffy. But the finds can be totally worth it!).

I know it's a chain, but it's a damn good one. And it's hands down where I'd choose to shop if I had to pick one store for the rest of my life. It's that good.

I feel lucky to have such a large, airy, beautiful Anthro in my town. I've been to ones all over, and ours is one of the best! Plus the staff are super nice, very attentive and will always help you track down the right size, whether it's in the back or in NYC.

All I can say is, I am so, so lucky they don't have an in-store credit card, because they'd have to bring back debtor's prison for me. Yes, the store "bonus" card is pretty useless, but I get it swiped everytime anyway. Maybe someday all those "rewards" will add up to something other than digital receipt storage and a once-yearly 15% coupon. 15%??!! Really? Cripes. Yet I get super excited every year nonetheless, and will continue to do so.

Anthro, you're an expensive mistress, but I love you. All the clothes I buy here, I wear to death and love each and every time. I never have to worry about having something to wear now that I shop here. The beautiful pieces I invest in ensure there's always something gorgeous yet easy to throw on.

I was in town for a wedding.  When I realized the night before the ceremony, the store forgot to remove the security tag from my dress.  First thing, I did was panic.  I was unfamiliar with the area and had no alternative attire for the ceremony.  My husband googled the nearest location (30 miles from our hotel).

I hopped into my rental car to the nearest store located in Milwaukee.  As I approached the store, I was immediately greeted by a sales lady.  I told her what happen and she apologized and removed the security tag.  She did not even question whether or not I actually bought the dress there.

I am always impressed with the level of customer service here.  But I was even more impressed during my last visit.

    Happy Shopping!!!

Anthro is not insanely expensive.  It's insanely addictive, so we spend more.  The issue isn't that $88 shirt, it's not being able to leave without five $88 shirts, a bedspread, dress, vase, few darling dish towels etc.  It's easy to drop a grand without blinking an eye--even after putting back a few things.  The people working there are very helpful and they're very good about exchanges.  I heard Giada's (Food Network) husband is the designer. Half of the experience is in the ambience.  The creativity is incredible and the floor plan keeps you walking in circles, buying more and more.  My favorite store.

Great store to browse for inspiration!  I'm a sewer and I go here when I need some help with new ideas.  There's very unique clothing and home decorating items in here.  Not the usual crap you see at the mall.  This is pretty high end; great fabrics, interesting designs.  It's a bit eclectic for me (I prefer goofy/modern stuff that you'd find at Anthropologie's partner, Urban Outfitters) but I feel so grown up and fancy walking through this place.

For clothing it's a bit expensive so I typically only buy from the clearance room (back left corner).  And for some reason I tend to prefer the store more in the fall/winter, I think I like their sweaters better than their spring/summer knits but that's just me.

Their home decor is very cool, they have a great selection of drawer pulls, hooks, wall hangings and other things.  I'm still pondering going back for those ceramic doll salt/pepper shakers!  You never know what you'll find!

Love this store, and have for about the last six years.

My experience in this particular Anthropologie has been good. The staff will help you in the dressing room, but other than that they let you browse and wander around as you wish... without bothering you every 2 minutes.

Good sale room... great accessories... and perfect for getting a gift for that person who is just so hard to buy for.

I love anthropologie's clothes and this store is a nice one because it is so big, the people who work there are nice and helpful, and there are nice big dressing rooms with places to sit.

That said, it is of course rather expensive. I have never bought anything from here that wasn't on sale. I own lots of their clothes though because I buy it at Jeremy's in San Francisco where they sell the overstock. My husband doesn't mind me dragging him here because he likes perusing the books they sell.

also, it is a great place to get ideas for making clothes as someone else mentioned. I am a big knitter and have gotten a few ideas from here. In fact, there is a ravelry group that makes things inspired by anthropologie.

I love anthropologie and I'm so glad they finally opened one in Milwaukee. This is one of those stores where you want everything. They have the best home stuff, and good sales.  Some things can be a bit pricey but everything is so unique its worth it. I'm just glad I don't have to drive all the way to Chicago to shop here anymore.

Anthropologie is my favorite store! But, this Anthropologie has frumpy rude employees. I would rather go to Chicago or order online.
