This is my favorite Antho! When I want to get something super unique and different from any other store, I come here.

The clothes are beautiful. If I was rich, my closet would look like Anthro.

Serive and quality of merchandise is spectacular, wouldn't think anything less of any Anthropologie.

Location is perfect! Blackhawk should have opened this place a long time ago!

It's pricey, no doubt about it.  I can't rationalize spending $200 on a dress I'll wear occasionally.  200 bucks boots?  Sure.  200 dollar jacket?  Yes!   Even a formal gown to wear in a wedding?  Absolutely  A casual dress?  Can't do it.  But I love the clothes they carry!  Vintage inspired, gorgeous fabrics, trendy but not cheap or too young.  I try to hit the sales frequently, always look through the sales closet.  The staff are pleasant and energetic.  It's a great place to shop, as long as you shop carefully and thoughtfully.

I love the aesthetics of all anthro's. Their visual design department = pure genius!! I am not always a huge fan of their clothes...but I manage to find pieces I like. I love their home accessories. The bedding is gorgeous and the candles smell amazing!! Especially 'Volcano', it makes my house smell like Anthropologie. They are soy based candles with long burning times.
I don't particularly love this location. The girls that work here are very snobby. I understand that the area itself can have demanding and obnoxious people, but come on people- would it kill you to be nice to your customers. There is one girl, Jen, who is always sour and acts like I am pestering her when she rings me up. And I think she is a manager. Yikes!! I will stick to the Berkeley location, even if this one is in my backyard.

You may not believe this, but...I love dressing like a boy.

It's true! I spend most of my time in baggy cut-off shorts and ill-fitting tank tops, barefoot and make-up-less. Plus, I have the same haircut as Ruggy J (and Justin Beiber, and Donald Trump). See?

BUT, when I do decide to girl it up, Anthro is totally my style: racks upon racks of loose-fitting, subtlely feminine, pajama-like apparel. Of course, I always head straight to the sale rack where the prices are slightly less depressing, and THIS store has the nicest, cleanest, least-crowded sale room I've ever seen at an Anthro. Even on a Sunday afternoon! Perhaps all the Danville housewifes shop on weekdays?

Anyway, it's as lovely as you'd expect any Anthro store to be, but since it's out in the burbs of D-ville it's like this hidden gem of un-picked-over goods. Anthro-fiends, you can thank me later!

ProTip: why do Antro stores smell SO good? Blue Volcano scented candle! The Rolling Stones burn it in their dressing room, and it's totally worth the $28 dollars of olfactory pleasure!

While I love going to this store (it's very visually appealing and fun to go through, for me), I rarely seem to find anything I like. That probably has to do with my cheap nature. I don't generally pay $70 for a flimsy top, so even if I like something a lot, I talk myself out of buying it, and that's probably a good thing :P

I do find really great gifts here! I've shopped for other people a couple of times, and even though it can get pricey, I love the specialized little gifts (fun books, decorations, personal items, jewelry) and I always see something that reminds me specifically of a loved one.

I also really love the size of this store. The sale section is mostly crap for me, but there are several hidden gems in there usually. Found a fun designed shirt in there today, in my size, but it was marked down from $80 to $50... All for a shirt. It was nothing fancy, just a long-sleeved, striped, cotton thing. I would've purchased it for about $30, but $50 was a little much. The selection in this store is great, although they obviously don't have everything that's online.

Because it's a bit of a drive for me, I have called this store a couple of times in order to set aside an item that I found online to buy later that day. The service I've received on the phone has always been stellar. They've picked up the phone promptly and been very helpful and efficient in finding and setting the item aside for me. However, this is where the pros of this store stop.

The customer service within the actual store is kind of horrendous. I have walked in several times and shopped around for a substantial amount of time without being greeted/acknowledged once. To be fair, I'm sure there has been at least one exception to this: a warm greeting, an "are you finding everything ok?" But for the most part, the service is pretty bad. Today, a girl who I have shopped with before (more than once) merely smiled at me and kept walking. The ladies who work here just come off as negligent and unappreciative of their customers. Their store is big and I'm sure it's a lot to handle, but the traffic is really not that bad in the store (especially when you are one of the first ones in the door that morning). There is barely ever even a line formed at the cash registers, so I expect to at least be acknowledged and not have to chase you down if I need help finding something in this huge store.

Overall, I like the store, but they definitely need to make their customers feel more welcome.

I love Anthro clothes (even though they do run quite large), and I particularly love this location, especially since it's close to home and I don't have to enter a mall to shop here. I really hate malls. All of the women who work here are really friendly and helpful, the store is always kept very neat, they have more inventory than other Anthro stores, especially in the sales section, and I NEVER have to wait in line. I once had to wait in line for 20 minutes at the Berkeley store, and the Santana Row location is always insane. Blackhawk Plaza is really beautiful and it's nice to just stroll around.

Now I have to write a review on Anthropologie.

I have been in several of these stores more than once and I find that this one is not only my favorite one but my friends also as she was shopping for a special dress and found it here and amazingly in her size.

I wish they had a line of clothes for men because I would really become a fan then. If they can come up with a line of men's clothing which would equal the style and quality of their women's line that would be something.

But let's get to my reason for liking these stores.

They sell candles. Primarily the Volcano candle which is what you smell the minute you walk into the store. (I hope) This candle fills our home with the sweetest of odors you could possible imagine. They are a little pricy but well worth it. They last a long time.

The best reason for going here is seeing my friends eyes light up when she walks into the store and seeing the dress/dresses she wants in her size. That alone is worth the trip to any Anthropologie no matter where it is.

Love, love, love the clothes. I was just really disappointed on my last visit with the staff. I wanted to try on alot because I wanted to buy alot and I was snickered at and offered zero help in the dressing room while everyone else was. Just surprising that they are only willing to help you of you have a few things.

It's been years since I've been in an Anthropologie and I've forgotten how cute their clothes are.

I wandered in today with my two young kids because I'm looking for a dress for a super casual beach wedding in September and I'm also looking for something cute to wear to my casual high school reunion in October.

Right now they are having a great sale and I was able to scoop up about  dresses and 4 shirts to bring home and try on.

I was afraid because it's marketed to a younger/hip crowd that the sizes would run small but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it runs very similar to Gap/Banana/J. Crew sizes.

Morgan, the sales associate who was in the back was very sweet and offered to take my large Restoration Hardware bag to the front for me. She engaged my kids even though they were singing and dancing around. Very sweet.

The girl on the register (I wish I got her name), was also very helpful and nice and got me the Anthropologie card that tracks your purchases so you don't need to hang on to your receipts for returns.

The only reason I wasn't super impressed is the manager-some blonde girl wearing the walkie talkie thing was rude. She made eye contact with me numerous times and not once opened her mouth to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. In fact, she actually talked over me to tell Morgan something.

She clearly did not appreciate the kids being in the store and wasn't even pretending not to be annoyed-even though they were well behaved (albeit a little loud and out of tune in their singing).

Thankfully the sales associates were great and the clothes super cute (and great prices in the sale rack!) so I know I'll be back. I need to get out of my Gap rut.

How is it possible to spend 30 minutes in a store and wander through the entire place ... and not be greeted even once?  I was so excited to see my new favorite store, but this store leaves me cold.  This store is neater than the SF store -- even the sale racks were organized by color then size.  The decor is gorgeous -- I'm kind of glad it doesn't fit my house, or I'd end up spending way too much money here.  But PLEASE... a little warmth in the staff would go a long way!

SF Anthro, I'm sticking with you!

Outrageously expensive for clothing made in China. Yet Anthro still remains to exist as they continue to overprice their garments?

I have to admit, I contribute to their existence!  Although they are extremely overpriced, I do like their unique patterns and tasteful colors!

But this store in particular, has a better sales selection.  More chances of finding your size compared to their bigger stores in San Francisco or San Jose.  It's a hidden gem!

For the maternity / baby finds list:

I haven't found any maternity clothes here, but they have a small selection of kid's wear and toys for the little ones. Wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to check it out, but if you just happen to be there anyway, it's worth taking a quick look.

Yikes! Trouble ahead! For my wallet that is...

I stumbled on a review recently for this Anthro location and after reading phrases like "beautiful layout" and "nearly empty" and finally "great sale section".. I just had to check it out for myself. Although the 4th Street locale is just minutes away, not to mention about a quarter of a mile from my work... there is nothing like FREE & EASY PARKING to make an extra 20 minutes on the freeway really seem like no big deal.

So I hiked it up to Danville this afternoon, my 15% off birthday discount card in tow, to the yuppie-esque "blackhawk plaza" and found a parking spot about 15 feet from the front door. Sweet.
The reviews are correct, the store is gorgeous. It's laid out almost in a circle of little spaces, and is big enough that I kept getting lost.

I think I was there for literally just under 3 hours. I know, the employees were probably all placing bets about when I would finally leave.
Anyway... after about 4 visits to the dressing room I was finally ready to go, with.. drum roll... one pair of amazing army green winter wool shorts (so adorbs w/opaque tights and boots), one super sweet comfy silk polka-dot dress w/pockets I plan to wear to a wedding next month, a red wool to die for button-down capelet on sale for $50 from almost $200(!!), two radical long sleeved nautical striped tops I'm totally loving at the moment (especially under jumpers) and 3 x-mas gifts (2 super cute dish towels w/embroidered foxes & a cluster of colorful mod measuring spoons)- all for just under $275. Not bad!!

All in all, I will be back. And soon most likely. The sales girls were all super duper friendly & helpful. Not snooty at all which unfortunately can be an issue w/many Anthro's. From my stint in retail I can state with utmost certainty that their merchandise could not be presented any more aesthetically pleasing. For reals, it's all so pretty, cozy, and lush that you end up picking up stuff you would never in any other circumstance pick up. Anthro's marketing team should win awards I swear. Such a cozy holiday mood was I lulled into that I came home singing "Let it snow" under my breath without even knowing it. It wasn't till my hubbie said "Are you serious right now?" that I realized what a trance Anthro had put on me. Magic I tell you. Scary.

As far as Anthropologie stores go, this one is great.  Blackhawk Plaza is cute as can be after the remodel, the store itself is well laid out and the staff is friendly and helpful.  It's never terribly busy. So...shhhh!  Here's the big secret.  Since it's not the busiest Anthro, the sale room is fabulous!  I live just a few seconds away, literally, and pop in at odd times just to check the sale room.  You should, too!  Keep this place in business in this location--shop often!  So much for the secret!

I'm a fan.  I personally like their style.. it's kind of classy bohemian... if there can be such a description.  The layout is open and inviting, with many items that catch your attention, Housewares and clothing seemed to be intertwined, which is great, because I felt like I was in a good antique store which had many items just WAITING to be discovered.

Came into this store for the first time with my girlfriend and was super impressed with the level of customer service we recieved. I mean, I don't normally go into many women's clothing stores, but I found this one to actually be fun. The staff was fun and engaging with both of us and not just her, which made me feel a lot better about being in tow.

While my girl was shopping around I was able to read a bunch of their books (cocktails, cooking, and etiquette) and cruise through their fun home wares section. She ended up buying a bunch of cute things for herself and was excited when she heard that the store was extending hours, after March 8th, to close at 7p. I guess they used to close at 6?

All in all, one of the only places I've really enjoyed shopping with my girlfriend and would love to come again! Especially for some ice-cream at Draeger's afterwards...

I just discovered this store after living 2 minutes away from it for nearly 2 years... I love the Santana Row store and going there with my mother is part of our Santana Row ritual... but the Blackhawk store is the best! I was tracking down a Royal Apothic fragrance (it's a so-so fragrance that comes in an ultra-vintage atomizer bottle) and I called ahead for a particular scent. One of the girls held it for me and had it at the counter when I came in. I love spending tons of time in a store, getting to know the staff and buying entire wardrobes, but it's also important to receive good service when I'm in a hurry and only spending a few bucks. I was impressed with the professional, courteous service and the simple, effective competence of holding an item for me and having it when I get there. Surprisingly, that can go really wrong quite often.

The layout is AMAZING and it is the most fun I've had in an Anthro store. Like I said I was in a hurry but it was such a gorgeous, spacious store that I had to inspect it before leaving. I love their displays and installations and this store is quite unique in the amount of space they have to work with... and what they're doing with it. They've created quite an organic shopping experience where I don't feel bombarded with only one type of thing. I look at a blouse, then a candle, then a book, then another blouse and so on. Very enjoyable. I was at the Santana Row store this weekend and it was way more crowded and items were harder to see and harder to find. Plus the young, casual but spunky staff didn't seem to be able to keep up with the merchandise. (Yes, I get irked when I am more passionate about the merchandise than the staff!) Ahh... I sure wish I'd visited this store sooner!!! I appreciated the slightly more mature-looking staff that knew the product and seemed to take their positions seriously.

I've alway loved this place...it's just so pretty inside and the clothing although not always high quality is just so unique that I need to give them credit for that.  A drawback is that sometimes the prices are "pretty" ridiculous, on the other hand, their sale room is full of cool buys.

I treat myself occassionally at shopping here and since I received an oh so cute 15% happy birthday card from them...I paid them a quick visit that resulted in me walking out with the cuties items!  Staffs very helpful and nice, not to mention, Blackhawk Plaza is beautiful...minus all the little kids hanging out.

    I LOVE this store!!! :)

The last few times I've been, I always dropped a couple hundred dollars before leaving the store...so dangerous.  The ambiance and the decor of this store is fabulous!  Not to mention the staffs here are super friendly and helpful.  Within minutes of stepping in, there are sale associates greeting you.  As soon as you start to pick a couple of pieces of clothing to try on, someone will stroll over to start a dressing room for you.

Although their prices are on the higher-end, their quality is wonderful and it's a store that you can definitely find some key pieces to add to your wardrobe.  Finally, don't miss the sales section towards the back...it's a small area but there's tons of good items.  They also do mark downs every Tuesday so be sure to watch for that.

This is a great place for gifts or a unique shirt, skirt, or dress. Even with a sale discount the clothes can still be pricey, but when I wear clothes from Anthro people always comment on them!

I always think it's harder to review clothing chains because of the way that they're set up - you're going to find a certain price range, you're going to see a certain clientele and type of employee. And that's a STRANGE reason to give a bad review. Would you go into Louis Vuitton and demand they give you that purse for $50?

My rant aside, this is a nice Anthropologie - it's in a great location for people too deeply entrenched in the suburbs to venture too far, and, of course, it's in the lovely (empty) Blackhawk Plaza. The staff of the dressing room was the only real contact with the staff that I had, but as always, they were very helpful - I believe a girl named Bailey was working the room and she was attentive and friendly.

The layout of the store is a bit strange - some of the shelves are placed to section off areas, but the placement of that seems haphazard. I know that Anthropologie tends to be a more free wheeling~* kind of place, but things seemed to just be... around, no rhyme or reason or even a theme. I saw clothing in the middle of the bedding section?

These are all nitpicks, though, and if you need your Anthro fix, this isn't a bad place to get it. Though I had no contact with the staff outside the dressing room (a problem for some, though I'm okay with it), they all seemed to be helping customers out or stocking. Like I said, the layout was weird, but everything else? Awesome.

Thank you. There is a god. Danvillites and San Ramoninans rejoice because real style has arrived after we've all been waiting and waiting and waiting for the store to open.

Friendly staff, spacious fitting rooms, killer sweaters and dresses and jewelry. All are right in my backyard (saves me at least $30 in gas since I don't have to drive to Berkeley/4th St to get my fix). The store has a really nice layout, too. And comfy couch for the husband to wait while I try on a gajillion things.

Support Anthrolpologie, people! They've made an investment in us and they are counting us to bring our credit cards. :-) I'm going back tomorrow since I didn't get a chance to cruise the itty bitty sale room (closet?) ... see you there, right?!

After reading all the reviews I decided to go check it out for myself. This location truly has some good sales selections, much better than the Anthro near Rockefeller Center in NY. The cheapest thing I found in NY was $40 but here I bought a dress on sale for $10! It was probably the last one left and was larger than my size, but add a belt and voila!

The employees there were friendly and willing to help when needed. Some reviewers mentioned they expected a warmer welcome, but personally I prefer shopping in peace without having anyone asking how you are today.

Overall this Anthro has a great location/setting and sale selection :) Will definitely come back.

    I love Anthro!

! I bought a shirt there a month ago and finally wore it last week. I washed it and it shrunk. I called the danville location in a panic because these cute little shirts are not cheap! I told them that my shirt shrunk and they said to bring it back. I brought it back and they gave me full credit and I didn't even have a receipt!

I was waiting for a catch the whole time but there isn't one... I am pretty stoked.

If you like Anthropologie, you will like this particular store. I think it's a given that when it comes to clothes, to each their own. So if this isn't your thing, fine. But if you like what they carry, than this particular store is a pleasure to shop at.  It is very spacious, beautifully and artistically designed, and it is almost always nearly empty, which means, no lines in the dressing room and no lines at the cash register. Also, I always get a FREE parking spot just outside the store. Compared to shopping at the store in Berkeley on 4th Street, this alone should make you prefer this shop.

Because I live equidistant between the two locations, the Danville store is the obvious choice for me.

I can't get enough of this place.  It's filled with adorable stuff.

If you have been to any of the other Anthropolgie stores then you know what to expect.  It's a clothing store mixed with jewelry, books and home decore.

The prices can be high, but the merchandize is good quality and unique.

Like some of the reviewers, I LOVE Anthropologie.  My story was that over the holidays I found a dress I loved and the store in Burlingame told me they'd try and find it since they didn't have my size.  I got a call from the Danville store when I was in Germany on Dec 22 and low and behold, they had it, took my credit card, and said they'd ship it out!  Unfortunately, due to UPS and not the store, the dress was never on my doorstep when I returned home Jan 4th.

After contacting the Danville store, the gals did a great job locating another dress, had it shipped out, and on Jan 19th (3 weeks after the original day it was supposed to be here)  it finally arrived.  It didn't have a receipt, was now $30 cheaper (hey, that's a lot in this economy), and I wanted a way to return it in case it didn't fit.

Here's where the 2 stars comes in.  Not entirely sure who answered the phone this morning, but the gal in charge today sounded completely pissed off with my request of asking for a receipt.  I tried to make it easy by saying if you just put the transaction on my Anthro card, I'll just deal with it in Burlingame, but she said she couldn't do it now and had to do it at the time of purchase and they never found my name when they rang up the original transaction (ok, so my name is the same name that made it thru on my credit card....go figure how the credit card one went thru.)  Anyhow after sounding like dealing with me was the most annoying thing, I got off the phone feellng like it was me doing them a disservice for asking for something that I should have been provided in the first place, but was lost.  I want to make sure no one's got my credit info, that they charged me the right amount, and all the other things that most normal consumers want.  Asking also that the price shows $30 cheaper and that I wanted to see if they could credit me was a whole other discussion.  The fact that they only had a 14 day adjustment policy and they rang me up in December....I finally said, I just got this on the 19th of January, almost a month late.  OK, she'd honour that then.  I didn't even want to go into it.

I just want my receipt.  If Danville wasn't so far in the burbs, I'd probably just drive there myself and deal with this.  Sorry to piss off whomever answered the phone...I forgot I was the consumer.  I'll just keep my business over here in the city.

5 stars for letting my dog shop with me and for creative merchandising (as always). The store was bright and cheery, and sales associates were surprising chipper instead of holier-than-thou. The store seems to have less merchandise than the one on 4th Street in Berkeley, so I doubt I'll come out this way anytime soon.

Love this location.  So much neater and cleaner than the SF location.  I love SF but there are too many people rummaging through the sale section.  The Blackhawk location usually has my size and a good selection of sale merchandise.

Even though this location is smaller than the downtown SF location, the sales selections in Danville beats the selections in SF.  Everything is neat and organized.  I love their sales hole.  I call it a hole because it's literally a hole in a wall with racks of sale items.  Love it!  Great customers service.

I don't usually write reviews, but felt I had to make an exception this time.

I was so excited a couple of years ago when I heard that an Anthropologie was opening up near my house.  I went when they first opened and had a not-so-good experience with a blonde manager there.  I've never encountered an employee so rude at any Anthropologie.  I decided to do my shopping at the Berkley store instead.

Last week I was in a bind and had to pick out an outfit for a rehearsal dinner I was going to that night, so I rushed to the Anthropologie in Blackhawk, hoping for different results.

I was pleasantly surprised.  The store was booming, filled with happy customers.  There were employees on all of the registers which kept the line short.  I had a really sweet employee (Valarie, I think her name was) help me pick out my outfit.  I'm pretty sure she was a manager - she was helping both customers and other employees and answered any question I threw her way. Anyway, I got the PERFECT dress for the dinner, plus a scarf, tights, belt, and a sweater which I normally wouldn't have picked out myself.  The way she styled it was so "Anthro" I just loved it. The girl in the fitting room (I don't remember her name) brought me a couple of tops I might like as well.  They were both so patient with me, and it made the experience really nice.

It's nice to see that a store can keep its customer service high, even when packed with needy customers. I am so happy I only have to drive 10 minutes for Anthropologie again. I just wish they had shoes!

I was so happy when this store opened up in Blackhawk. Its very pricey, but the clothes are great and one of a kind. The sales room is my favorite (B/c of the prices). But I almost always find something at Anthro. I got one of my favorite perfumes there, and lots of cute outfits and tops! Definitely worth stopping by. They have bathroom, bedroom, kitchen stuff, as well as pjs, hats, purses, and other accessories!
