Anthony's is superb. I've been going for years for all sorts of occasions including New Years Eve and I have always really enjoyed my meal. There have been a few not-so-good waiters and waitresses but only a few in the dozens of times I've gone there.
Anthony's at one time would have deserved 5 stars easily but ever since they got rid of the salad bar it's just not reached the full potential.
Again, great for parties, and groups. It's just a great time. I can't wait to see the place once they've finished the massive renovations. -

We stopped for dinner here the other night for a pizza. Was not looking for much and that's what we got. Pretty average overall.
I thought the pizza selection was a bit of a letdown these days. Very very basic options. We went with the margharita pizza and it was a bit of a letdown from what i was expecting. It was loaded with way too much tomato sauce and not whole tomatoes. The flavor was good, but way too much sauce. The free antipasta was nice to start with. And the wait staff was so so. -

Very consistent. Staff has been around, they consistently don't like kids, but if you're lucky you can get the nice one.
They are renovating, and have recently stopped serving the stuffed bread- possibly to pay for the upgrade? -

I've only had the pizza, so I cannot speak to the other dishes on the menu. The pizza is good. Very good, even. But twice now they've screwed up the order, and that's just not acceptable. A half-cheese pie is not that complicated a concept -- just stop putting cheese on it once you've covered the first half! Yes, that means the Parmesan, too!
Points off for being all the way on the west end of town. It's not really their fault, I'm sure it's very convenient for the people who live in that area. -

I've been here a couple of times recently both take out pie and eat in off the menu and I have decided that it is only ok. Some people rave about it but I can't get excited about the food. The atmosphere is very family oriented, I can say is that it's fine for kids!

Food is amazing & has a range of selection which is great, but the service is awful. I held my Sunday (post wedding) brunch there and the woman who appeared to be the organizer/boss was rude. We had one waiter for 19 of guests which isn't bad considering it is buffet style, however our waiter couldn't keep up with our drink orders. It felt like I was bothering the lady who was making the omelets, who wouldn't make eye contact or look up to take an order. The atmosphere is completely open and joined rooms. I didn't like the lack of privacy and banquet style halls they have. It is informal and lacks personality, style and taste.

John the bartender most nights makes this a great place as do the hostess and the waitresses!! And...of all things the pizza is good, the Gnocchi (potato macaroni with mozzarella) are amazing and homemade and their other dishes are excellent!! The salad bar is fantastic as a side or even for those nights when that's all you want!! The provolone is lol..the real "stinky" cheese and the pepperoncini will give you a tingle!! Always had it and was always fresh!!

John the bartender is a real nice guy. Their happy hour on Thursday nights is amazing. The food is delicious. The pizza and stuffed breads are awesome. I've had the brunch on Sunday morning once and it was also good.

We just had the WORST experience EVER at Anthony's of Guilford... I don't even know where to begin. The service was embarrassing at BEST. The waitress didn't know how to spell Puttanesca and asked us what it was. The food took over an hour to come out and when it did, one order was incorrect, and one never got placed by the waitress. The food was disgusting. The mangager offered to comp a round of drinks, sadly no one at the table was drinking (our mistake). We thought she might comp something else but actually kept saying...Mistakes happen, instead of I'm sorry. It is too bad, because we actually used to like this place...
It was soooooooo bad...There is no second chance on this one. This place is not what it used to be. If you want good Italian on the Shoreline...go anywhere but Anthonys. -

Gosh, it's interesting to read that others have had a terrible experience at Anthony's. It's just not what it used to be. Bad service, bad food. Guess you can't screw up alcohol, though...unless you water it down or give skimpy drinks. What a shame to see this long standing restaurant turn to awful. It used to be so good, too.

Branford, CT
I have come here for several brunches including Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Easter. I always found the food at the brunches to be abundant, fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. I am not a big eater so a lot of it is lost on me but for the price it is the best deal in the area for brunch. It include mimosas and bloody marys and the desert table is to die for. We will be back.
