Thank you to Four Barrel Coffee for having Anthony's Cookies in their pastry case on a coffee run about 3 months ago!  One bite of the Chocolate Chip floored me to a point I almost dropped my mocha.  After hearing from them that Anthony's was on the opposite end of Valencia, I paid them a visit and was greeted with a warm welcome from Anthony himself.  Having four options at Four Barrels is one thing, but having more than 14 flavors at his bakery is overwhelming for people with sweet tooths.

You can't really go wrong with any of the flavors, but my personal favorites are:
German Chocolate Chip*  (Hands down favorite!)
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip
Toffee Chip
Cookies N Creme (cookie within a cookie)
Peanut Butter*
White Chocolate Chip

*only on select days

Father, forgive me, I have sinned. I bought a dozen of Anthony's sinful cookies... and they were awesome.

Can't believe SF didn't have another store like this before... JUST cookies. FRESH BAKED COOKIES with 10+ kinds everyday.

My faves:
- Toffee chip - delicious to the last morsel, esp if you like toffee. Perfect, not too much toffee, not to little
- White choc chip - loved every bite, esp for you white choc fans
- Walnut choc chip - really fresh walnuts, yum... esp for the nut fans

My least favorite was cinnamon sugar. Just too much cinnamon for me but others might like it.

Hint: Get their daily cookie schedule as they have 8 regular kinds and 6 that rotate on different days.

Bottom line: Actually, Father, forget it... I'm going to get another dozen.

I popped in here on a whim after a tiring but fun excursion to Bernal Heights Park. I thought that they might be closed, but when I tried the door, it opened. The workers were all clearly in the process of shutting down, but as I tentatively walked in, someone approached the cash register and told me what the remaining cookie options were. I got a cinnamon sugar...it was wonderful. Chewy, soft, crunchy all at once. The friendly and welcoming service made the experience even better.

I'm desperate to try the toffee chip. Why do I not live the Mission already?

My staff and I are daily visitors of Anthony's since our office is just around the corner. We eat waaay to many of these cookies and put on the pounds to prove it!They are addictive!

I have taken a dozen too dinner parties and they are always a hit. I would recommend bringing a dozen or two to your holiday parties.

Cookies:
Favorites:
Cookies and Cream - A cookie within a cookie...brilliant!
Toffee - OMG! So good. This cookie is really rich and delicious.
Banana Walnut - These cookies are HUGE--they're like little cupcakes.
Whatever Anthony reccomends
Whatever is fresh out the oven -  mmmm...warm cookies

Least Favorite:
Haven't had a cookie that i didn't like.

Staff:
Anthony is almost always there--you appreciate a business owner who puts in the time to make sure quality is at it's finest. The rest of the staff is pretty new, but they are all friendly and are budding cookie connoisseurs.

Go get a box of cookies--you'll love them!

I got to meet Anthony at a wedding I attended a while back and must say that he's a pretty cool guy. What makes him even better are the cookies he bakes. His cookies were the most delicious wedding favors! The cookies were so good that I couldn't help but eat other people's cookies at my table and at other tables around me.

Hmm.. I think I need to feed my Anthony's Cookies fix right about... NOW!!

Anthony and his cookies are in my neighborhood, so I walk past all the time - and every time I do I think, "God damn I love cookies."

So why haven't I tried them? I'm trying to eat healthier? I'm in a hurry? I'm too lazy or impatient to wait in line for a couple of minutes? These have all been true at one time or another - but last night on my way to a friend's birthday dinner the planets finally aligned and I stepped in to get my pal a dozen cookies. It may have been Friday night, but people were still lining up for these fresh baked goodies - which my friend loved. In fact, I was so sold on my friend's response to the cookies that I went back to Anthony's today to finally try them for myself - my friend is right - these are really good cookies.

I nearly cried with jealousy when I saw AC's huge, sprawling kitchen. But I felt better after eating four dozen cookies-and-cream cookies.

I also dig the milk bottle decor. I derive amusement from the people who ask "hey can I buy this bottle of milk? Is it still good? HAR HAR HAR"

The first time I met Anthony was in 2007 on a street corner in Oakland, at a tableclothed booth piled with boxes of those fine, fine cookies. This man is truly living the dream, capturing the hearts and bellies of San Francisco along the way.

I love the cookies here. So far we've had the cinnamon sugar, Toffee chip, double chocolate, and oatmeal cranberry. The cinnamon sugar was the best. Not to say that the others weren't good, but it was a good cookie.

The double chocolate was a little too sweet for my taste. Please eat them the same day or better yet, right away! I had the Toffee chip the next day and it was not the same.

The people working there were very friendly and helpful about their products. Very warm and friendly there and you can tell that they love their products too. A huge plus!

Okay - here's something amazing: cookies that don't make you feel like a piece of shit after eating them.

Some cookies are delicious but too big.
Some taste artificial.
Others are dry, bland, forgettable.

The thing about Anthony's is that they're just, well, perfect.

The perfect size, thoughtful combinations of ingredients, well-made and flavorful.  Just bursting with flavor!

This is perhaps best-illustrated by their cookies and cream cookie.
When I saw it I remember thinking, "Well...it already IS a cookie, so what?...is it just cream-flavored then?"  Then I tried one and - fuck me blue - it tasted like cookies and cream.  I couldn't even wrap my head around it beforehand but Anthony taught me a little something about the cannibalization of flavors.

The toffee chocolate chip is the other "gun-to-your-head-which-one-would-you-choose" flavor.  Although the likelihood of someone jamming a piece in your face and demanding you pick two cookies to eat is probably slim.

Next best thing to baking your own. The cookies are warm because they just came out of the oven. The whole wheat oatmeal raisin was good but a little too much cinnamon for our taste. The chocolate chip walnut is great.

We're so happy we happened upon Anthony's.

I count myself lucky to have accidentally walked by Anthony's the day after they opened shop.  That sweet smell of fresh baked cookies poured out the door and drew me in.  I was rewarded with free samples and a menu of signature inventions:

Double chocolate
Cookies n' cream
Banana walnut
Ginger snaps (ok, I've had these before, but not nearly as gingery)
and more..

All were sweet and hot-out-of-the-oven amazing.  They're rich - a few bites does the trick.  Coupled with milk, it brought me back to childhood.

Also, at the time, I needed a really good Thank You gift.  A half-dozen, one-of-each box, tied with a string, was it.  I received many happy accolades mumbled over cookies & milk ; ).

Tip: Re-heat cookies for a few minutes in the oven -- it's worth the wait to eat them warm rather than cold.

The cookies here are infinitely excellent. Crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. They taste like they're fresh out of the oven even after they cool down. I don't know how Anthony does it but he's a cookie genius. I went there last night and told Anthony it was my first time there. He gave me a few extra cookies to make sure I got to try all the best ones -- nice!

World-beating cookies and friendly people making them. You can't not love Anthony's Cookies.

Anthony's Cookies are damned tasty.  Eat them and be happy.

I love going to this neighborhood shop.  The sweet aroma wafts out onto Valencia street and grabs you by the face.  It is tastefully and simply decorated with a simple interior.  The stark contrast of white Strauss milk jugs reminds you of where you are.

Anthony himself is a super cool dude.  Friendly.  curious. inquisitiive.   He is obviously constantly trying to improve, which is the sign of a great small business.

My favorites are the cookies and cream (oreo cookies inside of a cookie - De-friggin-licious) and the toffee.  The toffee is sugary and scrumptious, and melts out nicely to flavor the whole cookie.

Great success!

Not only are they yummy (I purchased a whole box) but Anthony and his staff seemed like good people.
Would have loved a little bit better cup of coffee, but hell I'm willing to let that slide...Warm folks and warm cookies! If that is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Recently I attended a beautiful and very hip wedding.
Anthony's Cookies were the wedding favors.
Cause that's how the cool kids get down.
No crappy Jordan Almonds here folks.
They even had the pull to get Anthony himself in the building.
Such a super nice guy, and quite the local celebrity.
Whispers went through the room when he arrived.
"There he is!"
"It's Anthony, the cookie guy."
"OOoooh I love the Banana Walnut"
"You think he would sign this cookie?"
Yea, your right I'm going to eat it anyway,
maybe he'll sign my boobs?"
I don't need to tell you how yummy his creations are.
Go try them for yourself. . .

SERVICE: Impeccable. The guys greeted us immediately as we walked in. They were so sweet and gave us samples as we were narrowing our choices down. It was smart move because we ended up buying more than we intended to because they were SO DARN DELICIOUS!

PRODUCT: We were originally saving them for after lunch but as we walked to get a lunch, we realized that we already went through half of what we bought in a matter of minutes. Yes, they  were THAT yummy - warm, soft, & chewy. It was so tempting to just skip lunch and finish off the cookies! Cookie prices are very reasonable.

DECOR: Wonderfully simple. Cookies in a window display to the side. Cookie flavors written on a blackboard. Glass bottles of Strauss milk all lined up. Cookies & milk - totally brings me back to my childhood. Who doesn't love that combination?

OWNER: Walked out of the store and was asked by a young man, "How was it?" At first I thought it was someone who was debating if he should go into the store to get some cookies. When I asked him out of curiosity he replied, "I'm Anthony!" Oooooh! It's always so cool to meet the owner of a store that you support who is so genuine and caring. He looked busy but took the time to talk with us and tell us a little about himself. Left a very positive impression on me.

Wanna excite all your senses, but don't have the money/connections for illicit drugs?? Well this place has got you covered.

Walking in for the first time, I felt happy tingles all over. The intoxicating smell of freshly baked peanut butter cookies, the sight of Anthony's contagious ear to ear grin, the sound of the cashier complimenting my forever frizzy hair, the feel of warm chocolate cookie melting on my sweaty palm, and finally the taste of the six perfect cookies I devoured while sitting in Bay Bridge rush hour traffic for 90 minutes--and all for the low low price of $5.

Traffic never tasted so good.

Anthony's is a no frills bakery that sells just cookies and some beverages. As you walk in you can clearly see the bakery and there's a newsprint menu on the adjacent wall. They don't even put out their cookies for display instead they leave them on their baking sheets that sit in cooling racks.

There are over a dozen flavors to choose from. I was quite puzzled as which one to choose so I asked for recommendations. The cashier was quite helpful and friendly. His favorite was the new German Chocolate so I got one of those and out of curiosity the Cookies and Cream. Each were just 95 cents.

It's really hard reviewing these cookies because I ate them so fast:
First bite - It's good. Not what I expected. Is this what everyone's talking about?
Second bite - Chewy and crisp. Good flavor and somewhat buttery.
Third bite - Wait... Where'd my cookie go? I finished it already? I want another one!!!

I tried the German Chocolate first since it looked really good. The insides glow with deliciousness. I can't believe how great it looks when you break open this cookie. I could have eaten an entire box of the German Chocolate. I'm hesitant about things labeled German Chocolate because it's usually too chocolatey for my tastes. This was a good balance. I'm really glad I asked for a recommendation.

The Cookies and Cream is good too. It has specks of black cookie dots just like an Oreo shake. It's just like you'd expect it to taste - great. I can't see myself eating a lot of these, but I see why people like this flavor.

____

Modestly priced chewy crispy addiction that doesn't overload your sugar blood count. Great snack for a picnic or work break. They'll be gone as soon as you know it.

"These cookies are DIVINE!"

My sister exclaimed as she sprayed cookie crumbs all over the car while she attempted to simultaneously stuff three cookies in her mouth while extolling the virtue of these heavenly baked goods.

I had heard so much about Anthony's Cookies that when my cookie monster sister came into town I just had to have her try them since I think most cookies are just fine (I mean they're no donuts) so we purchased four cookies for testing purposes and here are our findings:

* Chocolate Chip Walnut: AMAZING! Said in a sing-song voice while picturing angels. This is what earned them the divine.

* Toffee Chip: DELICIOUS! A little flat but still really good.

* Whole Wheat Oatmeal Raisin: Yummy but whole wheat has no place in cookies. We're eating a freaking cookie so don't try to sneak any whole wheat in there.

* Cinnamon Sugar Cookie: Mmmmm was really good but it was kind of a trick because it was a molasses cookie.

My sister keeps asking when we're going by here again.

Is Anthony's Cookies by your house? No.
Is Anthony's Coookies by your office? No.
Is Anthony's Cookies by where we are going to dinner? No.
Is Anthony's Cookies on the way to the airport? No.

She's turned into a cookie fiend! Thanks to Anthony's Cookies I'm going to have to take my sister to the Mission for a couple of hits before she goes back to Seattle.

Ever since Anthony's opened, Mrs. Fields and those little elves that bake cookies in trees have been crying themselves to sleep at night.  There is no competition.

I second Corey's comment:  I'm a lifelong fan of Anthony's too.  You can't really help it after you meet him. Anthony is humble, he gives back to the community, and his cookies are to die for.  We were blessed to feature his cookies as our wedding favors and the guests just loved it!  Dozens of people approached me during the wedding to compliment them and tell me they were the best cookies they'd ever had.

Do yourself a favor and stop by Anthony's cookies!

I guess the lesson is don't come at the end of the day. They'll be out of all the good ones, and the ones they'll have left aren't that good. I''m not saying I don't belive they have good cookies, but the banana one was fairly bland and unevenly cooked.

Anthony is the sweetest, nicest person and the best cookie maker out there in the world!

I'm not big on sweets, but these cookies are to die for. I first heard about these cookies when a friend of mine bought them for me as a gift one weekend. He described them as "the best cookies on the planet" and that every single person whose tasted them has fallen in love. I fell in love!!!

On the same weekend, I attended my sister's wedding and Anthony provided wedding favors...and to my pleasant surprise- he attended the wedding! I spoke with him and he is the most appreciative and humble man.

These cookies are good.

Over the course of watching Anthony's cookies go up I had my doubts, but he was always so nice whenever I'd pass by, I always wished them well.  And now, I'm so grateful for delicious baking cookie smell wafting onto the street around the corner from where I live, and for the great cookies responsible for the smell.  Every cookie I've had is either the best, or close to best, version I've had of that cookie.  Personal favorites are the Banana Nut (imagine a banana bread cookie) and Toffee Chip (thin, crisp and tender).  Lucky for him, others seem to agree and Anthony's Cookies is on the fast track to becoming a Mission institution (thanks, I imagine, the elementary school down the street).  One thing, there used to be more music/dancing/joking going on here, i hope they're not getting weary from the daily grind of turning out these treats--we've come to depend on them!

Why is it so hard for my friends from Sactown to come to the city?

They're all busy working and making babies that's why. Either somebody is getting engaged, pregnant or working overtime.

If they can't come to the city, then I'm bringing a city treat to them.

I was disappointed they didn't have the banana walnut cookies when I came here. But the free samples of cookies n' cream , white chocolate chip, toffee nut and chocolate chip walnut made me a happy customer.

I bought 18 cookies which are plenty for my friends to share.  I got a little bit of everything, which include the four samples above plus whole wheat oatmeal raisin and oatmeal with cranberry.

Friendly service, fresh baked cookies, quality ingredients and most importantly, they use real butter.  You can smell that butter even without biting into the cookie. Anthony does his cookies right.

I caught up with a friend I haven't talked to in awhile. She was delighted to see me (and my goodies in the box, I'm sure) and exclaimed, "Hey, it's been awhile. I've been so busy. I just got engaged!"

See what I mean?

His cookies turned me into a puppet! I was at a party and his cookies were the talk of the night. I couldn't stop taking cookies, even though I should have left some for others. Then bam someone spotted my thievery. "Stop! Cookie monster."  I was a little ashamed. Very little to be honest. Yeah, they are that good.

I really think these cookies would make a great gift. Or if you want to eat your feelings. Or if you want to reward yourself after a half marathon.

Fortunately I was lucky enough to meet Anthony and I immediately noticed his passion and love for what he does. He is the type of person you definitely want to support. Now, I actually have to get myself there.

There are only two cookies I compare to everyone else's, the venerable Toll House, made from scratch, and Debra Specials, from Mrs. Fields' bakery. Butter is key, and without it, you've sacrificed flavor, aroma, and texture, all of which separates packaged goods from fresh made. Walking into Anthony's, I was reminded of the year I spent selling fine pastries and cakes at Choice's in the Crocker Center Galleria, and the shelf life of baked goods, which is three days (it's the butter), and should therefor be enjoyed immediately. When given a choice between fresh, and plastic wrapped, why would anyone choose what could easily last for months outside?

I noticed Anthony's because it took over the store next to what used to be Lord Martine and Bradford Noble's workshop, and it was tagged on Facebook. I'm also always pleased to see new boutique stores on Valencia Street. Anthony's is not exactly a boutique, no shelves full of cute cookie tins, no window display, in fact, no fancy anything, just a counter, a board with flavors and prices, a cooler with drinks, and a long view of three guys making cookies, by the batch. And yes, you're going to have to wait for my favorite, the Chocolate Chip with walnuts.

If you hate Toll House cookies, it's probably because you used Crisco instead of butter, your pans were too thin, your oven could not maintain the proper temperature, or you weren't paying enough attention, which means they came out either stiff, burned, or both. If you love them properly, the chips come out crunchy on the outside, melted inside, and the cookie is crisp, buttery, and golden brown, all the way through. But to me, it's the walnuts that make or break it (apologies to those with allergies). I shell, peel, and toast mine before adding them in, and I believe Anthony does too, because his rendition of this classic treat has won me over.

Sad to say, I haven't as yet confirmed this, because the bakers are either too busy, or too distracted, for a friendly chat. Perhaps this will change with time, but given the spare room, it was like waiting for your little bundle of joy at St. Mary's. They say that having a bakery in the neighborhood improves mental health, and you'd think that walking into a place practically swimming in butter would keep a smile on, but four customers, and the staff, managed to do without. Yikes!

Oatmeal raisin? Stick with Debra's Specials. Like his other cookies (I've tried them all, twice, but not the Cookies n Cream, my bad?), Anthony gets the flavor and aroma right, but the texture is more scone, or cake, than cookie. And we know from cookies, right?

By the way, if you love marzipan, try the pine nut encrusted marzipan cookies at Dianda's Bakery, right down 25th street from Anthony's, on Mission. They are, quite frankly, Cookie Monster sex. Share them with good champagne, then hide them. Seriously.

Oh, and forget about parking on that end of Valencia, the body shop takes up what the residents don't. Anthony's cookies are wee things, and at $5 for six, it's not worth the double parking ticket. Ride shotgun, and dash in.

Cheers,
John Zane

I'm hanging out at my cousin's house & her husband (big ups cuzin!) comes home with a smallish white box. This is a burger & fries kinda guy so I was curious to see what he had in the dainty little box that is pretty much reserved for bakeries. He tells me they are from Anthony's Cookies on Valencia, which I've never heard of. He's generous enough to let me try a few & I'm thinking, "HOMYGAWD, am I in trouble. These badboys are GUUUD." I had the toffee chip (I'm telling you, I love toffee & I love these cookies) and a semi sweet chocolate chip. I am a milk chocolate cookie kind of girl all the way, but the semi sweet was so rich & sweet, it was enough to make me turn my back on milk chocolate (at least for a few minutes.)

These are the kind of cookies I wish every cookie was like: chewy, sweet & the perfect size. I've never set foot in Anthony's & I haven't had another one of his cookies since that first time a few months ago, but I wouldn't mind (like, at all) if one of those little white boxes magically appeared at my cousin's house again *hint hint guys*

This place is super cool, tucked away; would have never known it was there, until the smells waft pass your face. The cookie is the perfect flavor and texture. I tried a few, but opted for the cookies and cream. The owner is super nice and engaging. The samples are plentiful and addictive. I will be a frequenter forshizzle.

Wow!  okay, at first I was skeptical.  How can a business make sustainable profit by selling ONLY cookies!  After trying my first couple yesterday, I am very glad Anthony opened a shop that I can go grab some whenever I want.

I tried Cookies & Cream, and Peanut Butter cookies.  Both had nice texture, chewiness, and full of flavors.  Right amount of sweetness without making you feel the uncomfortable sugar rush afterward.  Also, the cookie sizes are sensible.

Certain flavors are only available on certain days, so keep that in mind if you are craving for a particular flavor.

Two more reasons to love Anthony's Cookies (as if we needed 'em):

1)  Their newest cookie flavor:  PEANUT BUTTER.

2)  The "handsome young man" perfectly described Diane's P.'s yelp.

I am in LOVE with them both.

Many more visits later, I have tried about half of the cookie types ... In addition to my fav, the cookies & cream, thumbs-up to the white chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, oatmeal cranberry, cinnamon sugar ... and when they are fresh out of the oven, it's just a little bit more happiness ...

Anthony's Cookies are delicious.  I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally did.  What a great treat! I had the semi sweet chocolate chip cookie and the whole wheat oatmeal cookie.  Semi sweet chocolate chip was great, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.  The chips melted as if they were freshly baked.  I think they were and it was a half hour before closing.  Yum! The oatmeal cookie was good too, flavorful packed with raisins and oats.  Definitely deserves another visit to try the other flavors.

In a 'hood that loves complaining about chain this, chain that, everyone should just eat a freakin' cookie from Anthony's and then shut the hell up.

Everyone and their mom has rightfully been raving about this adorable indie cookie spot (with milk for sale and jugs as decor) on a less-trafficked spot of Valencia. We made a point to visit one day before making dinner (yeah, I know, what appetite?).

At the end of the day, Anthony was the last man standing (joking about how the boss never knows where anything is) and he couldn't have been nicer. He treated us to some warm, delicious samples of his homemade cookies, and we left with a half-dozen (should have gotten more) assortment. The cookies-and-cream cookie is still my favorite, and the toffee and cinnamon sugar were close behind.

I will definitely be back.
