Anthology is an adorable boutique offering stylish digs at very affordable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful, providing honest recommendations as you try-on the snazzy apparel. Unfortunately, I often wind-up trying on most of the store, but rarely being satisfied with the fit. The return policy is an unfortunate 14 days, and only in exchange for store credit or another size/color of the original garment.
Anthology is a great woman's clothing shop, as long as you are lucky enough to find something that fits properly.
When I first moved to Hoboken 2 and a half years ago I thought this store was a great find. Now as a more experienced shopper in this small town, I realize the clothes are way over priced for not great quality. Also, even though the staff is definitely nice they are waaay too much in your face and don't let you try something on without commenting. I find it annoying that they say they "loooove everything" when you know you look AWFUL - sounds salesy and fake.
I did give the 2 stars because their sale rack can have some ok stuff on it (and it's really the only approriate time to buy from this store since you're actually paying for the quality when at a reduced price).
This place sucks you in with it's stylish window dressings that scream the latest styles from NYLON and Vogue. (Can those two mix?)
Anthology is another savior as it's super close to my apartment and I can run there for a quick top to go out in before the night starts. The staff is SO FRIENDLY and they treat you like you're a 5th Avenue princess even if you're only trying on a 40$ dress.
Another bonus for the pile of cute t shirts (My favorite buy was my "Like Totally Green" shirt with the Recycle logo.)
Only 4 stars as they are quite limited (I know I know they're a boutique) but their sizes skew more towards the S and XS sizes.
I'm always a little hesitant to give 5 star reviews, though I really can't think of anything bad about this store. The service is always very friendly and I think I've walked out with a purchase every time I've gone in. Their selection is very fashionable and they have a nice variety of casual dresses, tops, jeans, bags and accessories.
Wait I thought of something a little annoying- they do have these little signs up all over the store that have an evil looking smiley face and reads "Smile, you're on camera" which seems to take an otherwise high-ish end clothing store down a notch in class. But then again, accessories are easy to steal and having worked in a retail clothing store, I know it's a problem. So I'll just ignore it and continue to browse the pretty jewelry.
The prices are average- not too low, not too high and they have a nice looking sales rack in the back of the store. The sales associates are always eager to help and offer their fashion advice. It's rare that I take up the help of sales people. Usually I like to be left alone, but find that I give in while shopping here.
