The view was impressive, but the food could have been a LOT better for the price. The food had really good presentation but really was lacking in taste. I wouldn't go back here for the food, which is kind of a shame, since it is a beautiful view. I think this is more of a place to take someone who hasn't been there before. Once you've tried it, there's really no reason to go back. I only give it 3 stars because its good for a first visit.
Reunion Tower closed last week for renovations. It ought to be closed for 12-18 months, so don't plan on going in 2008.
I've eaten at Antares twice and the food was good both times, but it really doesn't matter now. They're turning two levels into one, ripping out the old air conditioning, and rebuilding everything. It ought to be something when it's done.

Antares is missing its fifth star from me for 1 main reason. I have been there for both dinner and for Sunday Brunch. First, dinner. I was not very impressed with the food, when factoring in the price. The food was good, don't get me wrong, but I've had better, considering the cost of the meal.
Now, my recommendation for Antares is for its Sunday Brunch. GO! Its around $31 a person, and its an extraordinary meal. The food ranges from fresh seafood, extra-large shrimp, fresh fruit, to your traditional omlettes, pancakes, french toast and an array of almost anything you could want. And its made right in front of you. The pastry tray is to die for. And the views are outstanding, of course.
Certainly try the dinner some night. The night-time views are romantic. But go in having a 4-star expectation. Maybe you will be suprised. But defenately go to the Sunday Brunch and I promise you will not be dissapointed.

The food here wasn't very good, and it was way overpriced. Having a great view of the Dallas skyline is good in theory, but then you remember that the main part of the Dallas skyline is the giant light-up ball in the sky, and you can't see it if you're inside of it. The service was just OK, and I really didn't enjoy any of the food. I guess it's a place to go once, just for the experience, but I wouldn't go again.

I don't have much good to say about this ball o' cheez in the sky - it is incredibly naff with the revolving floor and all. The menu, from what I can remember, did not have any spectacular offerings and of course the prices are outrageous for what you are served. Don't get me wrong - I am more than happy to fork over the moolah for a truly spectacular meal. My one experience at Antares was far from spectacular: the food, the atmosphere and even the clientele (a gaggle of pre-teens were running the circuit of the restaurant during dinner service!) sucked.
Word to the wise: just because it costs a lot and men are requested to wear jackets, doesn't mean the food is any good or it is going to be an exceptional dining experience. Exceptionally bad, perhaps... Seriously.
I guess you could call it cheesy, but I think its great! Yes, we did get engaged here, but when you're involved in regional planning/city government, it's sort of fitting!
The food was very good and the service as well. The people sitting next to us were celebrating their anniversary and couldn't help but stop what they were doing when my husband (boyfriend at the time) got down on one knee. Very unique. Very Dallas.
I normally don't do revolving restaurants or restaurants on top of famous towers that are hotbeds for cheesy marriage proposals and "romantic ambiance," but dinner was on the company so why not...Antares Atop Reunion Tower is what its name states, a restaurant on top of Reunion Tower, which is part of The Hyatt Regency in Dallas. When you're that high up I guess any city skyline is beautiful and this definitely was, plus the food wasn't bad at all...free food never is! I had the jerk rubbed prime rib because I heard that Dallas is the best place to get anything jerk rubbed outside of Negril (did that come out right?). It was really good and everything else looked good too. I must say, my time in Dallas wasn't great, there is no public transportation from the airport and the airport itself has more bridges, overpasses and tunnels than a freakin 6 Flags ride...I was so nauseous after my rides to and from my hotel, nothing really made me happy. Now, all I need is to find a girlfriend to propose to in Dallas!

I'll cover my experiences at Antares in a few parts: Atmosphere, Food, Service, and Price. As a whole, the experience is one that is a must for any Dallas or Fort Worth resident that has never spent $150 on a meal for two. If you want a restaurant to splurge on, make this your first.
First, the atmosphere. To enter the restaurant, you've got to navigate the slightly tricky parking (just valet, its free for under 3 hours, and much easier), and then follow the signs in the Hyatt-Regency lobby to get to the elevator. Once at the elevator, get ready for the ride. At 55 stories up, the trip up to Antares might be all some people want to see, but is quite exhiliarating once you've done it a time or two. The lobby of the restaurant is very lavishly decorated, but does lack adequate seating for everyone that is waiting for their tables on a weekend night. If you have an extended wait, consider the lounge atop the restaurant for a few drinks, instead of standing around in the lobby. The views are absolutely amazing, as you rotate one full turn every 55 minutes, getting to experience the entire dallas skyline, from within the skyline. Some may find the view breathtaking, while others may prefer to look at the other tables, and sometimes the floor, as it is very high. My recommendation for those with squeamish tendencies is to request a table on the 'inner ring' of the seating area, as that will afford you a nice view with a bit of distance between you and the window. Those with window seats truly will have 'window seats', as you are literally inches away from them.
Reservations are a must, especially on the weekends, as there's nothing worse than waiting to pay $150 on a meal.
Now on to the food. My personal favorites (and the menu does change, so check the Hyatt website before your trip) are the Bacon wrapped Sea Scallops, Filet Mignon (the mashed potatoes are excellent), and the signature Reunion Tower dessert. The steak was cooked to perfection, hardly even needing a fork at medium, and was flavored just right. My wife enjoyed the prime rib, although there was much more meat given than expected, and we did take a doggie bag home. The drinks are what you would expect at any upscale bar, but not exceptional.
Service was, in my opinion, the best I have received at a high-end restaurant in the Dallas area. Considering the fact that our first trip was on a local prom night, the servers kept up excellently. This might have been because the server knew not to expect much tip from the high school crowd and thus spent a little more time attending to our needs, but nonetheless, all subsequent trips have also been stellar. We did not wait long for drinks to be brought, as well as refilled. The waiter was courteous and polite, and did not mind questions about the menu.
As for the price, just make sure that you're not close to the limit on your Mastercard. With a minimum entree price of around $22, appetizers hanging at $8 to $12, and drinks running at least $6 each, a night for 2 is sure to add up quickly. I've never personally escaped at under $150, but the overall experience is well worth it.
