Totally solid dry cleaners. Not super expensive and they do a great job. I have to agree with Susan C though, measure your pants yourself and bring them in pinned. Pretty quick and flexible return on dry cleaning (I have definitely needed things rushed and they were able to accomodate). Alterations seem to take a little longer though, so don't take them here last minute.
The owner is so nice, she remembers me every time and never demands my ticket that I inevitably forgot. One time I dropped off a sweater to be dry cleaned with a button loose and she fixed it for me without mentioning a thing!
We used Ann's for three years (before moving). All our cleaning was done perfectly, and the service was always professional and friendly.
Great place, unless of course you actually want to get the services your paying for (I know, I know, I'm asking a lot here).
Don't bring clothes with stains on them here - you'll be basically paying to have them bathed in chemicals & heat, with not even the slightest difference made to the stain.
Don't get your pants lengthened here - they won't be long enough, despite remaining excess fabric.
Don't get your shirts pressed here - unless by pressing, you mean you want wrinkles pressed permanently into your sleeves & back.
Don't bring delicate knit sweaters here - unless you want holes to show up in the shoulders.
I have given this place many, many chances because they are so conveniently located near my house. However, once I took a shirt with a stain on it that they failed to remove over to another cleaners, who removed it with apparently no problem, I vowed never to return to Ann's. I now go way out of my way to take my clothes over to Cole Valley to get them cleaned properly - and for about the same moderate prices.

So I've had one of those big SF Giants jackets for years now... since the Candlestick days, come to think of it, but I don't wear it often enough to wash it regularly. It's starting to get a bit sticky with the blood of Dodger fans so I decided to drop it off at Ann's Cleaners while I was doing the rest of my laundry at what purports to be a laundromat across the street. Here is the verbatim conversation I had with who I assume is Ann:
Me: Hey there, I'd like to get this dry cleaned*, please.
Ann: [pokes and prods the jacket] Uh... no.
Me: Sorry?
Ann: Uhhh... [fluffs and shapes jacket] ... no.
Me: It says "Dry Clean Only" right there on the tag.
Ann: Yeah... uh, no.
Me: [blinks] No?
Ann: No.
So maybe I need to say some kind of secret password like at the Ink & Paint Club. All's I know is that it ain't "May I have this dry cleaned." So if you see some dude waving a jacket around yelling "WALT SENT ME!" you'll know why. I keep feeling like I should give this place an extra star for the benefit of the doubt or something, but when a dry cleaning place refuses to dry clean a dry clean only jacket, I'm kind of backed into a corner on the issue. So, here we are. On the raggedy edge. Don't push me... and I won't push you. ... Wait, that was a "Firefly" quote, ignore that.
*-For some reason I was about to type "drag queened." I think this means I have officially "arrived" in the Castro.
**-And no, I didn't intend to quote "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in consecutive reviews. That just happened.

Ann's Cleaners is the best dry cleaning and laundry service I've ever experienced. I have no idea why Ann turned down Troy's Gigantes jacket. My only guess is that she's a die-hard A's fan and wouldn't be caught dead with a decades-old, garlic fry-sludge-encrusted SF Giants jacket (and who could blame her?).
The wash-n-fold is affordable, fast, and meticulous. Everything comes back sorted and organized beautifully. It is ironically located across the street from the most hellish laundry facility on Earth (see: my George's laundry review). Ann does a great job dry-cleaning, and does amazing alterations as well. She even ironed some shirts I needed for an out-of-town wedding. I dropped them off in the morning, and they were down in a few hours. I was ashamed at my ineptitude at ironing, and she did a fabulous job and only charged me a buck or so. Ann stays open relatively late for a dry cleaner (6:30 on weekdays), which makes drop off and pick-up very convenient. After a while, you won't even need your pink tags to pick up your clothes. The second you walk in, she'll get your clothes ready for you. Go Ann, Go A's!

Back in the days when I had to wear business suits I used this dry cleaner exclusively. Ann is quick, efficent and the prices are moderate. She's also done clothing alterations for me which weren't cheap but they were well done. If you are going to have pants shortended I reccomending measuring them yourself and tagging the appropriate length to cut off.

absolutely not the best dry cleaning in the city.
my shirts were badly pressed. i gave ann's two chances. i pointed out a stain and asked for it to be scrubbed. that shirt was pressed with the stain in it. i somehow managed to get the stain out at home after paying to have it cleaned and pressed at ann's.
there are better cleaners in the area. find them. tell your friends.
