Review from Karina M.
Just minutes away from East side destinations like Coney Island, River Downs, and Riverbend, Annie's is billed as a sprawling entertainment complex that features live music, dancing, and plenty of draft and bottle beer.
Annie's books national, regional, and locals music acts, ranging from bluegrass to rap, metal to reggae, and everything in between. However if you aren't going for live show, the dance club vibe can be quite sleazy. Sunday nights are disco night, when women 18 and older (men must be 21+) can boogie the night away to tired songs from before they were born. You'll know these youngsters by the big black X's on their hands, which won't wash off no matter how hard they try.
The indoor capacity is about 1200, but the patio can hold 3500 people. During the summers, the enormous patio will be packed, especially since the smoking ban.
I've had some pretty fun times at Annie's, like when I watched bands from Vans Warped tour play an after-show party here a few years back. But other than a handful of cool live shows, my experiences at Annie's have left something to be desired. -
