I have been seeing Dr. Suh for 5 years.  She is AMAZING.  She is incredibly smart and also incredibly kind and personable.  She listens, asks appropriate questions, and always takes her time with you.

And the Pap ain't bad (as far as that goes) either.

Did I mention how smart she is? Now that's what I want in a doctor.  (And friends and stuff, but that's off-topic.)

Ok, I'm just going to say it.

Dr. Suh gave me the least traumatizing pap smear of my life.

That's TMI for half of you, but pretty useful info for the other half. She's really sweet, friendly and very thorough and well-rounded in her care. I am really glad she is my doctor.

I'm disappointed to see all the 5-star reviews of Dr. Suh, only because that could make it more difficult to get an appointment if she takes on more new patients.

Dr. Suh been my primary doc for over 5 years now, and she is great, as all have said. Easy to talk to and able to listen. Knowledgable. And what others have said about the whole pap experience? Yeah, she's got that figured out, too, to make as easy as it probably can be on all involved.

After reading the great reviews on Yelp, I went to Dr. Suh for a full check up as a new patient.   She was friendly, personable, thorough, and informative.   She is easy to talk to and listens to you without making you feel rushed or incompetent.   Dr. Suh also called me a week after my exam results came back and while everything was ok, she called me personally to make sure all my questions were answered.   Unfortunately, I no longer see Dr. Suh as my insurance has changed and she is not part of the Cigna network.

I've been a patient of Dr. Suh's for many years now. She is unquestionably  THE BEST doctor I have ever had. I recommend her to anyone, especially women who continually feel marginalized by health care providers.

Dr. Suh listens, treats you like a real human, makes helpful suggestions, provides you with excellent referrals and is true a pleasure to know. She is dignified, friendly and graceful.

Doctor appointments are supposed to be excruciating chores, but that's just not the case with Dr. Suh!

Though it seemed as though it took a lifetime of waiting to get an appointment, Dr. Suh was totally worth it.

I was left waiting in the clean and spacious waiting room for just a couple minutes before I was called in by the nurse (I had filled out all my intake forms via the printable forms on the office website).

Dr. Suh arrived only five minutes after the nurse left and patiently walked me through the medical history forms asking many additional questions along the way. She was thorough and did not seem rushed at all.

I'm super happy with having Dr. Suh as my new GP, yay!

PS, 'SUH' is pronounced, 'SAW'

No rush and and a good solid IM doc.  The check-up I had with her was not rushed and she was informative, giving me some tips, suggestions, asking me questions, etc. throughout the whole exam.  Had some blood works done, and got a call from one of the head nurses about a day later in regards to the results (I did prefer the doc herself to call, but that's alright).  Pretty straight forward and simple.  The only thing that sucks is the validated parking (be expected to pay about $15 with tip).  Street parking can be found but a good number of blocks away - best bet is to take the CTA.

We were just discussing the other day what a nice change it is to have a concerned, attentive doctor.  The lady was amazed how she hadn't been to see Dr. Suh in over a year and she remembered small details about things that were going on in her life back then.  I'm not sure how she does it but it is a nice feeling for sure to know the person caring for you actually cares about you.

Other doctors probably feel the same way but they are terrible at communicating it.

She totally doesn't need another 5 star review, but Dr. Suh is everything people say. She's been my doctor for 2 years now and she is by far the best doctor I've been to in Chicago and I'm super picky about doctors.

Love it - am so glad Yelp and friends' recommendations sent me on my way to Dr. Suh.  I work in the health care industry - and she's EXCELLENT in patient care.  Extremely thorough (goes point by point through your whole medical history), doesn't rush, will go through everything, and answers any and all questions that you may have.  Answers are immediate and very knowledgeable.  It's great to have a thorough, obviously SMART doctor.  When any friends ask, I very highly recommend her.

Parking - there's some validated parking at a nearby garage.
Appointments - there is a long wait to make an appointment with her (I think 1-1.5 months?!)  Worth the wait unless you have an emergency, of course.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Wow, I'm surprised by all these positive reviews.

I was feeling super crummy last year for a couple months - nauseous, sick to my stomach, crampy, bloated. I went to my gynecologist, thinking something was going on there. But he informed me that something wasn't right with my tummy, that I should see a general doctor. He referred me to Dr. Suh.

I saw her on a Friday, she did a blood test, figured maybe I had an ulcer, if not that, probably IBS. Meanwhile, I went to a family gathering that weekend where I spoke to a relative who has Crohn's, but whose "Crohn's" disappeared several years ago when she stopped eating wheat.

She suggested maybe my feeling crummy had something to do with wheat, that I stop eating it for a week and see how I felt. Another relative, a Physician's Assistant, asked me if the doctor was going to test me for celiac disease. When I told her no, she told me to call the doctor's office back and request they run this test, because they keep your blood on file for a week.

Called Dr. Suh's office, they said they'd run it. Cut wheat out of my diet that week, felt a lot better. But chalked it up to coincidence. The next Monday I get a call from Dr. Suh. "Looks like you have celiac disease," she said. I asked if I needed any further tests, like an endoscopy, to confirm the diagnosis. She said no. I asked her what would happen if I continued to eat wheat, like would it damage my body. She basically said no, acted as if it wasn't a big deal.

How wrong she was. My relative suggested seeing a doctor at Northwestern's Center for Integrative Medicine. Went there, doctor said "Yes, you need to have an endoscopy, that's the only way to confirm celiac disease. And yes, you must stop eating gluten if you have this disease, otherwise it will do further damage to your intestines." Hhhmm. Good to know. Had the endoscopy, which confirmed I had celiac.

Had I not spoken to my relative and requested that I be tested for celiac disease, Dr. Suh probably would have given me the silly IBS diagnosis. Which basically means "Sorry, we're not sure why you're feeling like crap, you have IBS."

In any case, Dr. Suh seemed nice enough. But I can only give one star because she's so horribly misinformed about celiac disease. Doctors like her are the reason that it takes the average person with celiac disease 11 years before they're diagnosed. I guess I was lucky I had relatives who were aware of the disease and helped me out.

I've been following Dr. Suh's career for much of our lives, it seems.

Not deliberately, of course. It's just that, we've lived in the same areas and attended the same schools, although a few years apart. New Haven, Boston...and now Chicago.

Weird, that. But I'm glad I've discovered her here. I set up an appointment on a coworker's recommendation, and she is genuinely one of the best doctors I have ever had, patient, unhurried and thorough.

I sincerely hope, somewhere in her busy schedule, she is training new doctors to be more like her!

I went to Dr. Suh today and she is the BEST doctor I have ever seen!  (well besides Dr. Pu but he's a pediatrician).

I found Dr. Suh though Yelp (I love this site) and my original appointment was late January but had to postpone it because she had a family emergency.  I didn't mind because I went in for a yearly check-up.

I arrived at 12:28 and filled out some paperwork and the nurse called me in 10 minutes later.  The nurse was really funny and gentle when drawing blood.  She was great but I didn't get her name.

Five minutes later Dr. Suh came in and wow, she is extremely thorough!!!!!!!!!!  I am so impressed with her.  She went through my whole new patient form and I have never seen a doctor do that before.  She even asked me about my vaccinations and the last time I got my tetnus shot.  I mean I have no idea and I didn't know that you had to get a shot every 10 years!  Hmm I'll have to ask my mom about that... anyways... she went through every single section and asked questions about everything.  She really cares for her patients!

I felt very comfortable with her (aka told her that I am a binge drinker on weekends)  so I talked about my concerns and she gave me useful suggestions and was straight forward.  She listens to you, which I think is rare to find in a doctor.

Of course I asked her if she knew about Yelp (which she did) and I think it's really awesome how this site can help people find great doctors, etc.  I love Yelp!

I highly highly highly recommend anyone to see Dr. Suh.  I love that her office is right in the loop and the office itself is VERY big!  They even have their own x-ray machine.  The office is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Go Dr. Suh!!!  =)

More of an administrative thing, but...I called 2 months ago to get an appointment with Dr. Suh based on all the positive reviews on Yelp. The original appointment was supposed to have been last week, but they called to reschedule it to the 25th. I just got a call from Dr. Suh's office telling me that effective today, they will no longer be accepting Cigna insurance for new patients. They'll continue covering the patients they already have who have Cigna, but any new ones with Cigna will be seen as out of network.

So I waited 2 months for an appointment only to be rescheduled and not only that, rescheduled to a date when they no longer take my insurance. VERY disappointing.

I'm stunned. I thought that concerned, knowledgeable, unhurried doctors were a thing of the past. You know, the stuff of Andy Griffith Show episodes. I was hoping that Dr. Suh would be half as good as everyone raves. Turns out, she's even better.

First things first. I call to make my first appointment and the receptionist asks me to set aside two hours. Dr. Suh likes to do a complete physical examination of her new patients. In fact, the first question on the packet of questionnaires she had me fill out when I arrived was "When was your last physical?" Umm . . . NEVER?! I've been going to doctors for 26 years and none of the yahoos I've seen suggested doing one. Already I was impressed.

The appointment itself was totally professional from start to finish. It didn't take a full two hours, but it took a long time. Dr. Suh answered every single question thoughtfully, took a real interest in my daily life, and couched all of her advice in terms of our game plan for the future. I left feeling totally empowered and anxious to hear my test results (which she promised to deliver herself!).

Dr. Suh called right on schedule, and she helped me put all of my numbers in context. I bet my cholesterol level is better than your cholesterol level!

Wow...just left Dr Suh's office and boy am I impressed.  I owe Kelly M & Julie B for this fabulous find!

I've been seeing my previous internist for about 5 years and haven't been overly pleased with her during my last few appointments.  Lately I get the feeling that she's rushed and I'm always dealing with rude nurses.  I've been too lazy to switch doctors and whenever I'm feeling sick the last thing I want is to deal with all the new DR office bs (paperwork, medical histroy explanation, etc).  However,  a few weeks ago a medication that I've been on for 5 years was taken off the market because of side effects and I needed to make a Dr's apointment to find an alternative medication.  I figured this would be a good time to switch and made an appointment with Dr Suh based on Kelly & Julie's reviews.

From the moment I walked into Dr Suh's office I knew I made the right choice! Get this...the receptionist actually smiled at me! The nurse couldn't have been friendlier and was so incredibly sweet when I had a minor freakout as she was about to take my blood (I have major issues with needles).

And then there was Dr Suh...not only incredibly bright (and has the credentials to back up this statement), but she has the best bedside manner I"ve ever encountered with a doctor! I had to wait for about 45 minutes to see her,  but she was so apologetic about not running on time that I didn't even care!   She took her time to listen to my medical history and I felt so at ease chatting with her.  After spending an hour in her office I regret not switching internists years ago!

Had a first visit medical with Dr Suh.  I went to her after reading her reviews on here.

The office was very efficient, confirming my appointment and receiving my faxed in joining instructions.

When I arrived reception was nice and welcoming as was the receptionist.  When I went in to have my blood taken and ECG the nurse was a bit abrupt and couldve been a bit friendlier but she warmed up once I started chatting to her.

Dr Suh was very nice we had a nice chat during the consultation so I felt pretty confident everything is going to be checked.  I should get a call once all the tests are back.  Now I am older (40) regular and full medicals are most important.  I had an xray while there too all very efficient.

The office was enormous and with their own Xray machine too!

I've been seeing Dr. Suh since she was with the Women's Health practice at Illinois Masonic.  She is absolutely the best in terms of knowledge and taking time with her patients.  Even if I move out the the city at some point - will continue to see her.

She's particularly good with patients who take a proactive approach to their healthcare (willing to listen) - she's great at suggesting combination treatments and will provide an educated patient with the research to backup her recommendations.  Continue to be impressed by her.

What an amazing doctor. That you so much Yelp people for finding her.

I've been shopping for a doctor for years and unfortunately I've run into some real quacks. One wanted me to buy her book. Another wanted me to go on the O blood type diet. Another wanted me to take my temperature every hour and take herbal meds if it strayed even a tenth of a degree. Another fell asleep during the consult (yes....awkward!). Yet another told me to start taking long walks and would I like an anti-depressant (I had walking pneumonia it turned out that time). The one before Dr Suh wanted to align my chakras. Srsly.

It's been a nightmare. For years I haven't felt....well. I'm often completely exhausted and I get a sinus or throat infection pretty much monthly that some random doctor prescribes me an antibiotic before sending me on my way. The process would repeat over and over.

I've been tested for a zillion things and in 2003 came up with high thyroid antibodies but my thyroid tested as normal. This is with some random doctor who wanted to sell me her book but outright refused to treat me with any medication or run any other tests and she refused to read any information I got from online (if no one was going to help me I was going to try to help myself!).

So I just kept bouncing around and amassing this huge file of medical test results and feeling horrible most of the time.

Dr Suh's office tested everything (even urine!) and if I have one complaint it is that even with my very good insurance it came to around $500 for just the tests so know that going in.

Everything tested fine (cept borderline cholesterol darn it) and Dr. Suh was on vacation that week so another doctor called to give me the normal test results. Same old, same old, right? The only difference was I spaced out and forgot to bring with me my big stack of old medical records.

Dr. Suh gave me a very thorough exam. She spent a long time with me and before we were done, she referred me to a sinus specialist in the same building. Before my appointment with him two weeks later, I dropped off my records to Dr. Suh's office. I didn't give it another thought.

A few days later (I was away on vacation this time) Dr. Suh called to say she reviewed my medical records and based on my old and current test results she feels I'm subclinically hypothyroid.

*cue the chorus* Ah! Finally a diagnosis. Finally something I can DO about not feeling well.

Finally a doctor that took the time to actually care for her patient!

Need a great doctor who is knowledgeable, keeps current with medical information, and who cares? Don't give up.

Go see Dr. Suh.

Dr Suh is THE BEST in Chicagoland!!  I'm so happy to see her reviewed here.  I've had her for nearly 10 years now and have never had a better doctor. Everyone I have referred to her have come back to me and said "Wow! She is fantastic!"  Then they have referred her to others.

She always explains everything to you. She trusts that you are intelligent and never belittles you like many (most) doctors. She never rushes through the visit. She has called me back in the evening with results.  She has called me back super quickly on Saturdays or Sundays if I have a need for antibiotics, etc.  She knows exactly what to test for and who to refer you to when you need a referral.

Simply fantastic.  Now I hope 1,000 new patients don't join up and I can't get an appointment anymore!

Dr. Suh was such a great find for me.  I had been having a terrible time with my previous doctor, who was a complete joke.  That's being nice.

I've seen Dr. Suh a few times now- once when I thought I had an ulcer (no I am NOT a hypochondriac! It hurt! to the point where I gave up coffee for a whole week!!) and then again for strep throat.  She was really great and very thorough both times.  She asks tons of questions and really encourages you to jump in about anything that concerns you.  When I had a recurrence of the strep two weeks after my initial weekend of hell, she was very quick to respond to my Saturday afternoon request to call in the prescription for antibiotics to the pharmacy again after verbally checking with me on my symptoms to make sure it really was the same thing all over again.  She will not make you feel like you are being insane for having concerns, and is not averse to running tests to make follow up on problems you describe.  I like doctors that are very thorough as I quickly got fed up with those who just blew off my questions

I was just in for a check up today- this is saying a lot because I absolutely hate going to the doctor but just figured it was time to get completely checked out.  If I didn't have a doctor I liked so much and who made me feel totally comfortable discussing anything and everything, I probably would have put it off forever.

The practice also recently moved its office and its in a really convenient location for anyone in the Loop (its at Clark/Washington) and its a much nicer space than the old office.

The nurses are for the most part very friendly (except one at the end, I couldn't figure her out!)

I know there are lots of great doctors out there as well as terrible ones.  I wouldn't want to treat a doctor like a restaurant and say "you have to check her out!" but mostly this is here for anyone who had been considering making her their primary care physician, or who like me had to fumble through insurance listings and pick people at random and hope for the best!) and wanted to read first hand experiences.  I am with Aetna for insurance and she is in their network.

I know it's been said a million times, but Dr. Suh is great. She is very easy to talk to, takes time to listen to you and answers your questions thoroughly.

The only thing I would change about her office is that if appointments are running really late, I wish they'd give you a call. Of course that is a problem all doctor's offices have, so I don't hold it against her.

Dr. Suh is great. When I was hit with the flu last December, I gave her a call and ended up leaving her a message advising her of my symptoms. A few hours later, she gives me a call to schedule an appointment the next day. I loved the fact that she cared enough to make sure I come in to get checked. Plus, every time I've come in for a visit, she takes the time to make sure I understood the status of my health. She will also personally give you a call to update you on any bloodwork or other tests.

I just wanted to say "ditto" to everything everyone else has said. Dr. Suh is the best. I'm grateful to have found her.

Great doctor.  Very thorough and efficient in a good way.  Would highly recommend if you can get an appointment.

Best doctor-- hands down. She listens to your needs-- your preferences-- and makes it happen. She's squeezed me in on emergencies and helped me through a number of rough times over the years.

I know this sounds corny, but when I take stock of what I am thankful for, I count Dr. Suh as one of those blessings.  We love her so much that we changed our insurance JUST to stay with her!  A number of years ago, she moved to a Northwestern Hosp affiliated practice that did not take HMOs.  (We had had BCBS HMO for years.)  We couldn't afford the BCBS PPO at that time - which we would have needed to continue seeing her.  But after 1-2 years, we couldn't take it - we missed her! - so we changed our policy.  She is kind, courteous, considerate, honest.  Always returns phone calls - calls your prescriptions in without a hassle or demanding an office visit.  She even called me on XMAS EVE to give me some test results!  She is never in a rush - she spends time with you.  And she is compassionate - she sponsored me on a race I did for Team in Training in honor of my dad who died from lymphoma.  And when my brother died of a heart attack at 39, she called to check on me.  Need I say more?  We adore her...............and boy, are we lucky.
