I'm so happy to find a quality Indian restaurant within walking distance of my house! No longer do I feel the need to go all the way to the U District to get some delicious curry.
Upon entering the restaurant, you're guided down a flight of stairs into a dark, sultry looking room. The lighting is dim but not murky, the ambience is both social and energetic but quaint and romantic (gotta love those tucked-away corners for extra privacy). our server was very personable and checked on us often. the water cups never went empty, and they even swapped my basmati rice for brown rice after i realized i'd forgotten to specify.
being a chinese gal, i like my food hot. not just spicy, but 'dang, this curry just punched me in the face, and man it feels good!' kind of spicy. Annapurna will not disappoint when it comes to heat, which is really important to me as I consider spicyness to be an essential part of Indian cuisine.
I ordered the Himalayan curry with tofu and veggies - the flavor was quite tomato-y but i appreciated the lightness (not heavy and overly thick with coconut milk). the veggies were bright, fresh, and vibrantly colored, overall very delicious looking. the boyfriend ordered an eggplant curry dish which was also good, and we split an order of the spinach momos which were good, although a bit smaller than i'd hoped for.
all in all, the food was very fresh and well presented and the portions were perfectly sized. we'll be coming back when we want some good authentic tasting indian chow.
Back the effffff off Cedars, you and your superiority complex.
Annapurna does it and does it well. Making some mean Himalayan and Nepalese and "etc..." dishes without being all fussy. Plus, Annapurna has cool goblets that make the water feel freezing cold when it's just just above freezing cold.
The food is great, the price is great, the service is great. The decor is pretty freakin fantastic. They decorated their air vent cylinder things to be elephants. How awesome is that? When is the last time you looked at an air vent and said, "elephant?" Probably never. And you never will unless you check out the deliciousness that is Annapurna.
Get 'er done.
Annapurna is good.
The positives are that 1) The food is really good; the tibetan momos are awesome! 2) the location is fantastic it's just down the street from my sister's house, how great is that? 3) The servers are very polite.
The negatives are, well really only one and that is it's in a basement, and yes they have tried to brighten the place up but it's still a bit inner-sanctumish for my taste.
Good food though.
This place was was not the mecca of the Holy Saag grail that I've been looking for but it was ok. The decor was good, the stairs down to the place set a mood of going on an adventure. The menu looked exciting. But the food was just mediocre. My saag was watery and my naan really lacked flavor. I kept noticing that it tasted like generic pizza dough and not like the awesome naan that I had for years living in AZ. Still my friends seemed pleased and all stumbled out full and relatively happy. I continue my quest for awesome Saag though.
There's a special place in my heart for restaurants that, although they serve plenty of non-vegetarian meals, mark clearly on their menus the items that are vegan. I know we're a small market, but business owners take note: if I discover that your restaurant cares enough to mark vegan items on the menu I will make a special trip to try you out. That's how I ended up at Annapurna Café.
The restaurant is in a basement, but they did a good job of making it pleasant; there are lots of bright colors and a bunch of interesting photos on the walls, with a genera Himalayan theme. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable.
We started with an appetizer called a "spinach momo". I can't believe I lived over 25 years of momo-free life before getting to try these! They're adorable little dumplings (these were green, what with the spinach), and they came with three different chutneys to dip them in. Our favorite was the tomato one, but the peanut came a close second, and it was an agonizing choice to decide where to dip each one.
We shared a palak tofu and a kauli ko tarkari, with a stuffed paratha bread on the side. The kauli ko tarkari was my favorite, with cauliflower, peas, and potatoes in a light, sweet & spicy sauce. Palak tofu was also good, though I got a bit overwhelmed by the sheer quantities of spinach (it's spinach and a little bit of tomato with tofu serving the role usually held by paneer). The thing that kept me away from giving 5 stars was the bread: the parts that actually contained the filling (around the outside) were quite tasty, but the middle of the bread was doughy and bland with no filling.
Thanks Annapurna Café for labeling your vegan offerings and giving me a chance to try new, delicious foods. I'll be back to sample more Tibetan/Nepalese food, especially if it's all as tasty as those momos!
Delicious food, quick service from a welcoming waiter. We asked him for an appetizer suggestion - it was "Samosas" served with a choice of two sauces - quite tasty - one of us ordered lamb curry, the other lamb kafka - it came family-style for easy sharing. The kafka seemed quite sweet, the curry savory. Good-sized portions. Rice pudding for dessert. A pleasant, predominantly red, cave-like atmosphere with lots of interesting mountain decor. Surprisingly inexpensive.
Annapurna's mango lassis may just be the best I've ever had. They have a very large menu I've yet to have anything that wasn't really good. Annapurna might just be the best Indian restaurant on Capitol Hill.
They're relatively cheap, with most entrees being around $10 and the servers are attentive.
When I come to Annapurna I feel like I'm escaping the cold Seattle weather and emerging in warm peaceful retreat. Nothing like a hot chai tea and their delicious lentil dal soup on a rainy winter afternoon. Love the chicken tikka masala.
Seriously, this place rocks. And for the price, it's a hell of a deal. Possibly one of my favorite restaurants in town.
I am a somewhat new fan of Indian food and since my first scrumptious taste of this wonderful cuisine my palate craves it frequently. I had a date and we planned to meet in Capitol Hill and I needed options. Since Indian always sounds good I hit up Yelp for some suggestions and found Annapurna. Hearing that it was a good date spot I decided we should meet there.
Annapurna is in the basement of a building. You walk down the stairs and come to a small ordering window. A waiter was there ringing up some food and said he'd be right with me. As soon as he finished he directed me to a corner table. There are pictures along the walls and I couldn't help but stare at them as they captured Indian life and monuments such as the Taj Mahal. I instantly agreed that it is a good date spot. Its cozy without getting uncomfortable.
I looked through the menu before my date arrived and it was extensive. I kept my focus on the vegetarian section and found many of my favorites like the spinach and homemade cheese as well as curries.
My date arrived and he quickly looked through the menu. We agreed to share a few items so we ordered the spinach dish, a vegetable dish, and naan bread. I believe you can't have Indian food without naan bread since its one of the greatest food item known to man.
The food came in a timely manner and was trailing steam behind it. The spinach dish was lovely, the vegetables were cooked just right, the sauce that vegetables swam in was flavorful, and the naan was an excellent addition.
I recommend Annapurna to anyone that is a fan of Indian food. It certainly is a great date spot. And while my date wasn't all that fulfilling the food sure was. At least I got one good thing out of the night and you will too once you have the food.
It's fall and the time for all things cozy, savory and comforting is upon us. This means tucking into warm hats, scarves and mouth-watering bowls of some of the best Seattle has to offer. Annapurna Café in Capital Hill is just such a place. Located on the main drag of Broadway, the entryway is really just a landing that curves to a well lit set of stairs. The walls are those rich golden hues you see so often Indian culture. The invitation of the feel and smells coming from below are irresistible. While there are no windows in the restaurant, the lighting and set up creates a romantic neighborhood escape from the noise and the street rather than a feeling of being hemmed in.
My date and I were quickly greeted warmly and seen to a table. Drink orders were taken after a brief interval and we were given plenty of time to look over the menu. Trust me you're going to want time. There is much to choose from and most dishes are accompanied with your choice of brown or basmati rice.
As for drinks, yes it has a full bar so if you're not inclined to teetotal during your meal, it's all available-- whatever suits you. The beer and wine list are decent with a nod toward a more substantial beer selection. My date and I however went with something more traditional. He ordered a chai iced tea, *sorry reader--I didn't steal a sip, so I can't report on this* while I went with a pot of Jasmine tea. When the drinks arrived, immediate points were won--my Jasmine tea came in a French Press. A cute little pot that held enough to fill not quite 3 of the small tea cups. The loose leaf tea was perfect...how could it not be? I got to be in charge of how strong I wanted it *thank you French press*.
We split an order of Crispy Lamb Rolls ($4.95 for four pieces) that came with a small side of pineapple mango chutney. The chutney, truth be told was more of a glaze with a kick of heat and small bits of fruit interspersed throughout. This is in no way criticism. It's just not what I thought of as actual chutney. The glaze approach is a good one as traditional chunky chutney would have eclipsed the flavors of the lamb, ginger and garlic. Rolls like this can be sort of hit or miss for me. I'm always a little leery of how much grease I'm going to encounter. Survey says?? None! It was light, crispy and the filling flavorful not oily.
We each ordered separate entrees *and yes on this I was sure to sample some of his*. The Himalayan Curry with chicken ($10.95) and Dal Bhat, a bean and lentil stew w/ onions and small accents of diced tomato ($7.95) came in charming metal bowls, each paired with our own serving of basmati rice. We asked for medium spice and word of warning...they mean it. Medium means medium, so careful you don't overshoot.
The curry was a well balanced dish with meat, sauce and vegetables subtly combined. Dal is a pretty basic Indian stew, so while it may not be to everyone's liking, it was thick, flavorful and was just what I was looking for that night.
When it's been raining all day and the "Seattle greys" get you down--head out to "the hill." Annapurna's service was attentive and easygoing kinda like its town. Most importantly the food was delicious (not to mention AFFORDABLE).
I only knew to go down the stairs (because frankly, I might have turned around!) by reading a previous review of Annapurna. I actually like that it's wedged down in the basement - it adds to the coziness and warm atmosphere.
I absolutely LOVE Indian food. There is nothing I like more than using only my hands and warm naan as my utensils. Face it... food tastes better when you eat with your hands! My experience at Annapurna was for the most part great! The service was excellent - fast, always had full glasses of ice water, friendly. My friend and I ordered a lamb curry, naan, and some sort of vegetable and chicken stir fry with sauce.
The Curry: Large chunks of lamb, flavorful, delicious.
The Stir fry: Too sweet, tasted like a dish you'd get at a cheap Chinese restaurant. Definitely didn't seem like a typical Indian/Himalayan dish.
The Naan: Warm, slightly crispy in parts, mostly soft, just the way I like it.
The Lowdown: I'd definitely come back here for more curry and naan, but I'll just stay clear of that other dish.
Mmmmm. My boyfriend took me here on our first date. The food was amazing and gave us things to talk about while we tried to calm our nerves.
The curries (while perhaps not "Himalayan") were amazing. Spicy with deep and complex flavors, and tons of veggies. I love peas and carrots and was so excited to see them in my curry. I love that the curries come with jasmine rice. Their garlic naan is amazing (as clearly indicated by a ton of other reviewers). I had the lamb and he had chicken, both proteins were lean and tender. The portions were good sized, I usually take some of mine home for lunch the following day.
The drinks are good, they even have Himalayan beer.
I love it here. I bring friends here. The boyfriend and I come here and laugh about our awkward first date.
Service was impeccable, food delicious, the lamb crispy rolls are the best!!!
Love this place...
We visited Annapurna a few weeks ago because I had decided I would die if I didn't get some naan. And not just that lifelessly sad excuse for naan you see at grocery stores labeled "Real Naan!" that has never seen the inside of a tandoor... but real naan. Naan that makes you want to cry its so good. Annapurna came pretty close!
Walking into Annapurna is like like walking down into some basement studio; twisty stairs, art and pictures on the walls and that faint smell of curry wafting up toward you as you descend. Getting in was easy, no wait on a Wednesday night and they host who greeted us was friendly and attentive throughout.
We started with a yogurt drink which was refreshing, tart, tasty and just a touch bitter. And of course... naan. The naan was obviously made in a tandoor, evident by the tell-tale hole in the middle where a poker was thrust to remove it from the side of this unique cooking device.
The Tika Masala was quite tasty and the lamb curry also good, with spice levels not overpowering but definitely there.
Overall I enjoyed Annapurna and will go back again but I will admit I had hoped for larger portions considering my boyfriend seems to be able to put away at the rate of a pro-football star (and I certainly keep up). The only other reason I have to dock it a star is its complete inaccessibility, I know its a cool old building and I wouldn't trade the weird stairs for anything but I'd love to take my dad here and I just can't see myself getting his wheelchair down that stairwell. Oh well, there's always take out :)
Great indian food. Yum. Tikka gold beer is the bomb- spicy and good with the food.
Some standout items here... the momos were better than I've had at other restaurants serving them... but most of the curries were strangely sweet. It is, however, an excellent place to take a large group, up to perhaps 20 people, thanks to the semi-isolated secondary dining room near their bar. Staff was very accommodating.
I ADORE this spot. The restaurant atmosphere has a real wholesome warm & fuzzy feel, like rockin' a snuggie on the couch while a little pussy cat named 'sunshine' purrs in your lap.... except sexier and minus the Tina Fey-esque desperation.
Speaking of (desperate), this spot would make an awesome first date spot: it's totally romantic, the food is well-priced and delightful, and they have a FULL bar for those wretched "blind" setups your mutual friends insist upon thrusting you into after too many of your lonely snuggie nights. So if your date ends up being a piss poor reflection of your intellectual/ physical-attractiveness level (or he just spent the last 10 minutes talking to you about his local L.A.R.P.* chapter): order yourself a nice dry Bombay Sapphire martini, up, with 2 olives and don't worry kid, the food will be totally boss to make up for the company...
I highly recommend:
-spinach momo's
-garlic naan
-palak paneer
-tandoori anything
Side note: this place also has thee most incredible mint chutney i have ever had, i eat it by the spoonful.
Cool, now that I've done my good review deed of the day, I'm gonna get back to my date... with my snuggie.
*L.A.R.P.= Live action role play
stellar chicken tikka masala, stellar tandoori stuff, stellar naan, stellar everything.
if you know someone who needs to into an indian food lover, this is just the temple to accomplish that. i've seen it happen here in Annapurna with mine own eyes.
I have been eyeing this place for a few weeks now and finally went in.
Atmosphere is great, a bit dark but it's very nice!
The staff is GREAT, very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu!
I had the spinach momo for an appetizer YUMMY! I got the Garlic Naan and it is absolutely amazing as other yelpers have suggested. For dinner I got the Vegetable Kofta. It was good, I told my server that I really liked spice, if I hadn't done this I don't think that I would have enjoyed this dish, it was on the sweet side, kind of like sweet tomato soup (but from my Indian food experiences many sauces taste like this), but the spice really helped. The paneer/vegetable balls were very good however.
My girlfriend and I went here a few weeks ago and we enjoyed most of the food. The restaurant feels very authentic with dark lighting and decor.
Chicken Tiki Masala: Absolutely amazing! wonderful flavors, sweet yet spicy. Will definitely order again!
Chicken Tiki Sagg: Not very good at all, very bland and too spinachy for my liking. Will not order again.
Garlic Naan: Very good, not too crispy/burnt but not soggy. Wonderful Garlic flavor without being overbearing. Will definitely order again!
I only give this 4 stars because of the bland chicken sagg, otherwise amazing food!
Delicious food; wide variety of chutneys; beautiful presentation of baked items...and they have hot sake! We made a toast to color; the restaurant itself is vibrant and inviting.
Also agree that staff are awesome; excellent service.
I use Palak Paneer as a basis for comparison when it comes to Indian food. It's one of my favorite dishes in the whole world and I don't eat it nearly often enough. (Maybe if I ate it more often I would be able to order other things at Indian restaurants. Hmm.) Last weekend I was hungry and looking for takeout on the hill when I came across this place.
The Palak Paneer was fine. I've had better and I've had worse. The price was average - $9 for an average sized portion with average white rice.
Next time I'll get a side of garlic naan since that seems to be where all the fuss is!
I absolutely love this place.
I came here last night with my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed the food here.
We ordered the garlic naan as starter and it came out right away. It was soft, chewy and wonderfully garlicky. I believe it was a mint chutney the served on the side for dipping. Whatever it was I wanted to lift the bowl to my mouth and drink it. But I wanted to appear classy to my date...so I restrained myself.
I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. It came out in cute little metal bowel that look almost antiqued. The food itself was medium spicy, which I found to be perfect. The chicken was wonderfully juicy and tender and I found the sauce to be a bit complex and multilayered. It was creamy and delicious and I think a bit sweet and nutty. The sweetness wasn't overwhelming at all.
The mango lemonade was a good contrast to my dish. I left full and happy and came home and ate the remainders for my late night dinner. I wish I had more.
Service was attentive, polite and prompt. The only draw back was the crazy lady taking AT her date the entire time we were dining there. Slash fiction isn't that interesting. She didn't let him get a SINGLE word in edgewise, and otherwise detracted from the nice atmosphere I feel the restaurant presented.
Great food. Decent portions and prices. I'm definitely coming back to explore this interesting menu further.
I'm subtracting two stars for several reasons. It was a minor hassle to get a legitimate coupon honored, plus I wasn't given the happy-hour discount for my appetizer when the bill came. Honestly, service wasn't all I had hoped it would be. The waiter was a real nice guy. The only problem was that he didn't come around much. I don't understand, since the place was almost empty. I had to walk over to the register just to get a to-go box.
My only other gripe is a BIG pet peeve of mine. Why are so many Indian restaurants absolutely terrified of adding adequate, authentic levels of spice? I insisted on five star spiciness and ended up with a jar of spice paste to mix in myself. **Sigh**
Yum! Wonderful chicken tikka masala, awesome garlic naan, perfectly cooked rice. Oh, and fabulous soup! I don't remember the name but it had a dumpling. Definitely worth checking out. The restaurant itself is also enjoyable--very warm and cozy. A good place for a date :)
After gorging, I don't actually feel that bad...unlike after eating a Dick's burger. Not that Dick's isn't good too...
I moved to Seattle a few weeks ago from Chicago and have come to realize that people here are VERY generous with their ratings. My husband and I have been misguided multiple times because practically every restaurant has a 4 star rating.
This restaurant is far from 4 stars. The food is about a 1.5, but i'm rounding up for the nice, although not very attentive wait staff. My husband started by ordering a mango lassi. I would love to see how they made this, so that I would know never to use any of those ingredients in a mango lassi. It tasted icy and powdery... not the smooth, creamy consistency a mango lassi should have.
We ordered an eggplant appetizer that was okay, but nothing special. Then...chicken tikka masala. What a dissapointment! This is my go-to dish at Indian restaurants, so I am very familiar with it. This simply is not chicken tikka masala as you and I may know it. It tasted as if the main ingredient was sugar. On top of the sauce being just plain wrong, the chicken was tough and chewy. I could barely cut it with my fork and knife.
My man ordered Lamb Saag that was okay, but waaaaay too salty (and I love me some salt, so that is saying a lot) The basmati rice was kind of clumped up and had no flavor. The regular naan had nice texture, but also had no flavor. Overall a highly disappointing, overly priced meal.
During my first visit in Seattle I stumbled into this place and had the most amazing dinner.
I don't remember exactly what I had but they were these vegetarian starchy balls of goodness in a soupy creamy sauce that blew my mind. It was so good my friend stopped eating her dish and started eating mine.
If you have not already been and was wondering what Nepalese food is all about, this will surely satisfy your tastebuds.
It smells like heaven exploded, where is it coming from? Mmmm think I will just keep walking and forget all about that glorious smell until I pass it again in a week or two. How about if I just keep walking past this amazing smell for a year and half without exploring. Oh the wasted time.
If you live in Seattle and you have walked down Broadway you have smelled what's cooking at Anna Purna. What is cooking, is goodness. Do yourself a favor if you have not been, go, tonight!
You walk downstairs and the smell just gets better and better until finally you are there, Nepalese food heaven or is it Nirvana. Either way you feel all tingly like something good is about to happen. If you don't know what to order I would start with the Chicken Masala. It's not going to be to crazy or to spicey it is a nice introduction. Also, you have to get the Garlic Nan Bread with this and of course a beer.
The servers smiles are beautiful, they are attentive. The crowd is mixed from family and friends to sometimes loud college kids. Not a good date spot but a great place to go with a friend. You will not be disappointed.
Yum yum yum... More yum. Absolutely without a doubt the best Marsala ever and the nan, is great too. There is a server there. A rather handsome lad who always seems to be my waiter. Very nice, not over attentive. This place is kind of weird to eat at alone but great with a friend or friends. I think it's because it is in a basement. I think that they could seriously double their business if they relocated to a spot more open and inviting. I might just eat there every day. The only reason why this spot gets only 4 stars is because of the underground location.
Although I'm no expert on Indian or Himalayan food, I do love flavorful and spicy cuisine. This place delivers those qualities and more--good food, service, and cozy decor makes it a solid dinner option on Broadway.
Vegans and vegetarians will rejoice in the variety of non-meat and non-dairy meals, and omnivores have even more delicious options. It's difficult to choose, but I bet you'll be satisfied with any choice you make.
The happy hour menu looks great and cheap--I'm going to try that out soon!
It's in a basement, right on broadway,
Ok indian food, and it feels warm. Not memorable, but not bad. The staff is pretty nice.
Reasonable prices.
I would've never ventured here by myself, so I'm grateful Swerdlow suggested it. I was a little worried at first because the dining area smelled a little like bleach, but I got over it as soon as our food arrived. And it arrived FAST, like a few minutes after we ordered.
We shared naan with cheese and I had the chicken tikka with brown rice. The meat and veggies were perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The service was beyond friendly and prompt.
I will be back!
I was really excited to go there when it opened quite a few years ago. But was highly disappointed in the quality of the food. I was really expecting something different than poorly done indian cuisine. It was bland and I have never returned.
I'd never consider myself a connoisseur of Indian Cuisine but I really enjoy Annapurna. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is kinda of cute and tucked away and most importantly - the food was great!
My sister is a fan of wildly spicy foods and she got just what she wanted. They're also vegetarian friendly for all of you meat-haters.
The food is fresh even though I think the water they serve comes from a hose or the tap. Not too refreshing there.
I've gone with an English friend who has eaten his fair share of Indian food and he loved it as well. Take it from him.. this place is tasty!
Annapurna is amazing. It is phoenomenal. Seriously.
When I went to Annapurna for the first time, I was shocked to find a restaurant near Broadway and Denny, since the bustling food selection of broadway begins a block east; nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised.
The food here is to die for. I got Himalayan Curry on Sunday and I went back there THE NEXT DAY to try Annapurna curry. If you enjoy a little bit of a spice, I highly highly recommend Annapurna Curry. It is absolutely delicious, and the taste really hit the spot (price is also really reasonable, but who wouldn't expect that from a broadway restaurant?).
I also got a hot Chai here, and it was a great chai. I'm used to the bottomless chai from Taste of India, and wanted more, but this chai wasn't bottomless. ::sniff::
The service was awesome and the food came very fast.
i really don't know how this place made out with 4 stars as it is easily the worst indian food i've ever had the displeasure of eating.
for starters, they served us soup that could only be described as "warm" because it tasted like nothing, really. i have no idea how they did it because i know i saw onions in it. weird! that should have been a clue of what was yet to come.
for entrees, we both ordered chicken tikki masala (which we had the previous day for lunch at a place up the street) and it was just NOT GOOD. it tasted like very sweet creamy tomato soup! gross! the service left a lot to be desired, we were the only ones in the place and we were half done with our meal when the naan arrived. it made no sense. the food was waaay overpriced! i could buy 20lbs of sugar and 2 gallons of tomato soup for what we paid.
the ceilings were very low which meant when another table was seated near us, the sound carried so far that it felt like they were sitting in the chairs next to us. i guess that is to be expected in a basement but maybe put on some music? just an idea.
i still feel ill from the meal. in closing, EW.
Pretty good, although very tame. The curry we sampled was barely spicy at all, which was disappointing. On the other hand, everything had good flavor, and full bar! Sometimes you need real booze to wash down your Indian food.
The restaurant itself is in the basement, and the decorations are moderately pleasing. I wouldn't recommend going on a first date here, but a Sunday night dinner for a seasoned couple is quite nice.
I feel like I should mention the naked Yeti picture on the beer placard sitting on the table. He was oh-so-fine. Apparently you get nice gluts walking up and down the Himalayas all the time. Or perhaps I am horny enough that naked, furry things appeal to me? Maybe I like furry men? Something to ponder while eating your garlic naan.
This is one of my bf & I's favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. We go there every couple of weeks.
If you have not tried their appetizer, give that a shot. We love their dumpling dishes.
When we go there, we usually order a curry dish with lamb, and I cannot remember a time when I thought that the food was just ok; the food has always been good.
I thought that the Chai was a little too sweet and milky, but I still like the food a lot.
I also agree with Jenny about grease; there are many non-dairy/coconut base curries to choose from at Annapurna.
The price was reasonable, but not "cheap" for Indian/Nepalese food.
Pros: cool decor, good food, nice wait staff
Cons: parking (only street parking, so be prepared to walk!)
I will go back again! :)
I absolutely LURV Annapurna. The owners and employees are polite and attentive. If you like Indian food but don't like the grease that can sometimes come with it, you may like many of the items on their menu. The Saag Chana, Annapurna Curry with Tofu, and the Palak Paneer are excellent.
If you are a vegetarian or vegan or just want to experiment with some new tastes, try Annapurna.
Love this place. Love the decor. Love that they sent me christmas cards with gift certificates!! Seriously! Why can't more places do this? I guess Red Robin gives you a free burger for your birthday....
I used to come here a lot. But I hadn't been there in maybe a year, and just revisited them yesterday. Thanks to their Happy Hour sandwich board sign! I and 2 friends got some appetizers and drinks.
__The Mango drink was definitely Yum-skies: mango juice, saffron vodka (yum x2), and black pepper. It was seriously a lot better than I expected. Smooth flavor but with a bit of spice.
__The sparkling drinks were just OK...tried the Tamarind and Pineapple. Tamarind was good, but wished it was more Tamarind-y. Pineapple was a little too sweet for my flav.
__Momos (dumplings) were tasty, light, and juicy.
__Samosas were really good!! It was drenched in some type of yogurt-based sauce (or was it cream?) and some chutney, with garbanzo beans on top. I almost wish it would just be separate so you can dip it yourself or taste the samosa by itself. But it was still super good.
I was kinda sad to see only one other person in the dining room. But it 'was' 4 o`clock on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving..
Will definitely come back to try more drinks. Its $2 OFF cocktails!! wheehoo
