It's decent. Considering I don't spend a lot of money getting my nails done anyway this was worth my while. It's basic and gets the job done. If I wanted spa treatment I'd go to a spa, duh! In and out with good service. FYI they do sanitize the tools. I saw my lady take out and put back the tray with the tools in the sanitizer machine. She did a good job so I'll be back. It's literally across the street from my building.

Not the best color selection if Ur looking for non conventional colors, but I usually bring my own polish anyway. Lots of Essie and Opi although not the latest colors. Still not bad compared to what I've seen at other places.

Also not thrilled abt the tax but hey it's the city.

Meh at best.  This place is tiny, and seems significantly lacking in hygiene.

Mani/pedi on Friday...nails already peeling off two days later.  And somehow I got roped into the spa pedicure and my $20 mani/pedi became $50...what the....??

Only plus is the the girl who did my nails was super sweet.  - That being said, I'll never go back.

    Meh.

I went there on Sunday. I walked in and was helped right away. I got the $20 mani-pedi. They did a very good job for a $20 service. 4 days later my mani-pedi is still in perfect condition which is great.

THe only negative is that the guy working on me demanded a tip before he did my manicure, which is a huge turn off for me.

But otherwise, very time efficient, cheap, and long lasting nails so far!

Just went yesterday after reading the fabulous reviews on Yelp. Having gone to 3 other nail salons in Fi-Di, I'd have to say Ann ranks high in terms of sheer customer service. They really seem to take their time with not only your nails, but in making you feel comfortable.

From hanging up your coat for you the moment you walk in, to helping you put it on on your way out. Small gestures show a lot. The mini bottles of water are also a great finishing touch. And, of course, last but not least, the nails come out looking amazing! Extremely satisfied with how mine came out and I'll post an update to see how long they last!

just got a mani pedi at ann's
the place is on the second floor- i didn't know what to expect but happy with everything so far, color selection is standard..
the place looks clean for a nail salon..
the lady who did my nail, lin did a good job and really polite and detail.. she took almost an hour to finish mani pedi that cost 20$!
i saw some of the workers, latino woman who did another person next to me and she did not look happy at all..
so i felt that if you get the right person- this place is a deal!!
    will def come back again!!!!!

Exactly my feeling: Meh, I've experienced better. Yes, its a cheap $20 Mani-Pedi and they do have a good selection of colors but honestly I expected more. I went on a Saturday morning and everything was very rushed. In fact I had one girl working on my mani while another did my pedi. By pedi I mean I soaked my feet for 5 minutes, then the woman scrubbed them 3 times, then was done. One thing: do not get tricked into the leg massage and the manicurists watches over you when you tip. Mine actually asked, "Is that tip for the girl who did your pedi and me?" Are you kidding? A $7 tip for a $30 service isnt enough?

They ask if you would like a leg massage in the middle of your pedi, I thought it was a nice gesture so agreed. Only to find out it was an extra $10 to have her rub watery lotion on my calves. The polish lasted 1.5 weeks, but I would rather go somewhere else to actually get a pedicure. If your looking for cheap, quick, but not perfect this is your place.

$20 mani-pedi, so they're already starting off on a good note. Now this is a common price among nail salons in FiDi so to get my loyalty they'd have to set themselves apart from the rest.  Fortunately they do!

The owner, Ann I presume, is very friendly and greets you at the door.  My mani and pedi were both very good- quick but not rushed, and with attention paid to the services.  This is just what a $20 (read: non-spa) mani-pedi should be.
When I was about to leave, Ann saw me testing the smudginess of my newly painted toenails and she rushed over to wrap my feet in plastic so I didn't ruin the pedicure.  It was a nice touch.
    I'll definitely be back!

I just came here due to the reviews..I was truly underwhelmed and had to write one myself. The staff is cool.. they greet every customer that walks in -- to the point they don't focus on your nails. Soo annoying!

I must have had Ann. Anyway - I first came in and a man was doing my manicure - he was horrible. I had to request Ann because I refuse to have someone inexperienced do it - just because it's busy. He clearly doesn't do nails regularly.

I got my nails done on Saturday and they already chipped. The price is good ..but every place in that area has the same special.

This place is nothing to write home about. Don't believe the hype.

Ann's Nails is the best deal around at $20 for a mani/pedi.  Everyone is extremely friendly, accomodating and efficient. It's not a luxurious, drawn-out affair so if you're expecting a top-notch spa, this isn't for you. But they do a great job.

For a special treat, I'd definitely recommend the $10 chair massage -- amazing!

Thank you to my roommate and fellow yelper Alexandra L. for introducing me to this awesome spot. A better deal can't be found!

Yea, I know...I'm reviewing a nail salon.  Shaddap.

I got a massage in this joint.  A. Legit. Massage.

The little asian chick that performed the massage was like a female version of Mr. Miagi from the original Karate Kid (which should never have been re-made).  She worked all the knots and kinks out of my muscles.  I almost fell asleep, it felt so relaxing.

    $30 for 30 minutes.  Suhweet.

Sorry about the drool on your floor, Ann.

I've been to Ann Nail twice since starting my new job a few blocks away. I like to go on my lunch hour, though after returning to my office, shutting the door, and stewing in my nail fumes, I do feel a little inebriated on acetone after awhile. Anyway.

On my first visit to Ann Nail, the proprietor was very welcoming. I asked for the $20 Mani-Pedi, which is 7 days a week and not just the weekends anymore. I was assigned to an older Latina woman (tall, has had her hair in a long pony tail the two times I've visited) that did not do a great job. She had kind of an attitude, was listless during the quick massages, and did a piss poor job on my manicure-- there were so many bubbles that I had to ask her to do some nails over again, which she smirked at. I was in and out in 45 minutes. My nails chipped later that day. I was pissed.

I wasn't going to visit again, but when I looked around during my manicure, I saw the other nail technicians hard at work and saw that their technique was really good. I think that memory convinced me to go back a second time, though I planned on requesting one of the younger nail technicians that I observed during my last visit. I ended up being assigned to her (her name is Jade-- young, Asian, and has black plastic frame glasses), and she was fantastic! She did a great job on my nails with nary a bubble while painting. The only downside is that she took the full hour to work on me, which is a plus, but I was a little late to work on my way back.

My manicure is still perfect five days later and shows no sign of chipping soon. I would recommend spending the extra dollar on the quick dry.

It's not the cleanest place, but it's definitely not the worst in the neighborhood. One star for my first visit, four stars for my second visit, subtract some points since it's not quite the most sterile environment, add a bunch of points because it's a ridiculously good value and somehow, through magic math, you get three stars. It's hit or miss, but I'm sticking with Jade from now on!

Stop everything. This place is legit. Love the women, atmosphere, and the color selection.  It is really hard to find a good deal in manhattan, ($20 for a GOOD mani/pedi!!) and a clean salon.  I love this place, and I tell all of my friends about it! I am happy to go all the way from the uws to maiden lane to catch this deal, Ann is a gem.

I only wish the mani pedi deal was everyday... alas... just weekends.

I LOVE this place. The $20 weekend deal is amazing. They take really good care of you, and you feel really welcome when you walk in and when you walk out.

One little issue I had was how long it took. The girl who I had really took her time. It was a good thing that I didn't have anywhere I needed to be.

I just want to reiterate how wonderful Ann's Nails is. Ann & her team are all very skilled and could not be sweeter. In the colder months, they insist on zipping your jacket and putting on your shoes for you, which is great, since if you're like me, you don't have the attention span or patience to sit under a dryer long enough.

Ann also always thanks me so genuinely when I bring friends by, which makes me want to keep recommending this place to others!

And like I said in my previous review: my mani/pedi lasts on average a week and a half before even the first chip. As someone who is usually lucky to make it past the first few days, I have no idea what kind of magic they're working, but I love it.

This is the only nail salon I will go to in my neighborhood (FiDi)...and after I've tried ALL the others.  The owner is always there, greets everyone as they walk in, and offers them a mini bottle of water.  Some of the nail artists have been there since I started going 3 years ago, and that says a lot for the business.  I never request a specific girl because I know all of them will do a great job.
$20 for mani/pedi on the weekends...can't beat that!

$21 for a manicure and pedicure-what a steal! Yasuda does a very meticulous job, so ask for her unless you're in a rush. The salon gets very busy from 12-2p.m. on weekdays so be sure to make an appointment ahead of time. Their color selection is somewhat limited, but they have some great Essie polishes. I also appreciate how quiet the salon is. There are no TVs playing bad reality television and there isn't loud music blasting, which isn't true of many nail salons.

Great prices and good services and the staff is always very friendly!

A pedicure in Manhattan for $15!? Am I back in college!?

I read fantastic reviews for Ann Nail Salon online, so today finally ventured to check it out. I went at about 2:45 p.m. as a walk-in, and there were plenty of seats which was fabulous! My technician told me that lunch time is much busier, so I highly recommend mid-afternoon!

There are lots of nice colors of polish to pick from at Ann Nail Salon, and everyone who works there is warm, smiling and friendly. My technician was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She did a fantastic job on my feet and easily talked me into a ten minute foot/leg massage after her one minute massage hooked me. She must be a trained masseuse!

The salon is not beautiful, but it's not bad looking either. While it's near busy streets and construction, the environment is still quiet and relaxing. Even though we can't be too picky down in FiDi, I'd still highly recommend this place to anyone.

A totally easy and fantastic experience, for $26 plus tip -- including tax and the add-on massage, which I never opt for...oh, I'll be back for sure! Thank you for existing Ann Nails!!! You are wonderful!!

I'm a sucker for a good deal, and even if it turns out horribly, I comfort myself with the thought, "But it was SUCH a bargain!"

Probably not the best way to proceed when it comes to choosing grooming facilities, but I digress.

$20 for a mani/pedi on weekends is a great deal, not to mention that the place is even open on weekends, a veritable anomaly in the wasteland that is the Financial District.

Onto the important bits: the actual manicure and pedicure. To be completely honest, if it hadn't been $20 for the both of them, I would be kind of pissed with the pedicure I got. When I got home I noticed that there were noticeably sharp edges on some toenails from the woman cutting them sloppily and not filing them properly. I get pedicures so I don't have to trim and file them myself at home.

The manicure was fine, trimming, filing and painting all went off without a hitch. It's been 4 days and I'm starting to see a tiny bit of wear at the tips, but nothing super noticeable.

I wouldn't get another pedicure here, but I might stop by and get a quick mani if nothing else was open and I was too lazy to travel outside of FiDi.

I decided the try the place after reading the reviews.  I was pretty disappointed.  The walk up is through a crummy looking stairwell and the shop isn't much better looking.  My massage chair didn't work(which is a big reason that I get a pedicure when it's boot season), the technician lazily applied the polish, and then the drier didn't work properly that I smudged my thumb on my way out.  Yeah, it was a $20 mani/pedi, but I would rather pay the $25 and get a good one.

I moved to the Financial District 2 years ago and the first time I came to this place I had one of the best mani/pedi I've ever had.  The woman who worked with me scrubbed my feet to baby soft like I've never had and gave an amazing massage.

Since then, things aren't so great.   I usually alternate between Ann's and Candy nails across the street, which both offer a mani/pedi on the weekends for under $20. I'm disillusioned with both now, neither act like they want you there are a client and only go through the motions of the steps of your treatment.

The breaking point for me today at Ann's was a couple things... they 'lost' the colors I'd selected and then were weird about my asking for a paraffin treatment with my pedicure.  The woman did my whole pedicure and no paraffin... when she started putting on my flip flops to paint my nails, I asked her again about this.  She said they'd do it after..who does a paraffin treatment AFTER your toenails are painted?!

Finally after she did my fingernails and installed me under the dryer for multiple sessions, forgetting about me because they were too busy trying to close the shop (I showed up an HOUR AND A HALF before closing time), then six women swarmed me to dip my feet into scalding paraffin without putting any lotion on first... I kept mentioning it was too hot and they repeatedly tried to dip my feet in anyway.  Then while my second foot was being dipped, one woman insisted in in picking my first foot up and putting it in the boot.  imagine two people trying to do opposite stuff to your feet while you're trying to balance precariously on those rolley stools with wet nails.... someone had to catch me from falling off.

Forgive me, but isn't the whole point of paraffin to soak in the rich lotion that they put on before the wax?

I won't be back.  Too bad...because my first visit there was so great.

You can always get a cheaper manicure in Chinatown. But if you've abandoned the pursuit of that particular holy grail and you live or work in the Financial District, this is a great place to get your nails done.

It looks like every other nail factory, but a couple things set it apart:

*it's quiet in here. really really quiet. if you don't want to hear the lady next to you on the massage chair yapping on her cell, come to Ann's.
*they're open late -- till 9pm -- and on weekends. that's a rarity this far south on the island.
*they care about service. they'll put your coat on for you, carry your bag and your shoes, pull out chairs for you, the whole nine yards. i find it a bit disconcerting, but it's sweet that they don't want you to mess up your nails. oh, and free bottles of poland spring, too.
*they put your shoes in a sterilizer machine while doing your pedicure. this is so weird that i don't know if it's actually a plus.
    *mani+pedi deal on the weekends -- $23

If you spend time in the Financial District and don't like to spend a lot on your nails, then this is the best run-of-the-mill salon you'll find around here. And be sure to say hi to Ann! (she's the one that wears glasses and greets every single person who comes in.)

"Got her toes done up with her fingernails matching." - Kanye/ Kid Sister

Ann Nail Salon is best of nail salons I've been to in the Financial District so far.  It is a walk-up on the second floor.  This is not a luxurious nail salon by any means, but they did a decent job with my manicure.  For $8, I got a manicure that didn't chip for at least a couple of days which was nice.  There are lots of OPI and Essie colors to choose from.  Everyone is very nice and my manicurist took her time and did a nice job.

PS - Is anyone weirded out by the fact that the nail dryers say "Pedicure Dryers?"

I usually reserve my reviewing skills for restaurants and businesses that suck (see recent manhattan apartment entry) but since my mani/pedi from this place is still in perfect shape and it's 5 days later - I just had to tell the world about it.

You see, yelpers of the world, I am extremely hard on my nails. Always have been. I got this mani/pedi at the last second before a wedding I attended last Saturday. This was done purposely to avoid the inevitable chipping that begins (for me) usually immediately.

Well, it's the following Thursday and my mani still looks amazing. Normally I would have taken acetone to my nails by now b/c the chipping drives me crazy but from Ann Nail Salon the thought has yet to cross my fingertips.

I love that this place was quiet - except for my group of friend's and our excitement surrounding the upcoming nuptials (I apologize to others patronizing this place last Saturday if you had the misfortune to overhear us). The manicurists were very sweet and professional. Friendly to all. I would definitely go back for another Saturday $20 mani/pedi and so should YOU!

I work right around the corner, so this is very convenient for me. This joint is small, and not the cleanest place on earth (though certainly not the dirtiest) and you can usually be seen without an appointment, which is helpful.

They actually do a decent job with polish, it lasts a long time and my nails have always looked nice when I have left them, but I can't really bring myself to give this place more than 2 stars because of how unclean it is. Keep in mind, its not super dirty, I just don't like to go anywhere that looks like it could use a mopping and the windowsills haven't been dusted. You are going to be touching my nails and cutting my cuticles. Be clean about it!!

I gave it two stars because they give a good manicure that lasts and its really inexpensive.

In my humble opinion, Ann's is hands down the best deal in the neighborhood.  $20 mani pedi that looks great and lasts much longer than places I've paid double the price.  I'm not sure why anyone would go to the other neighborhood salons that charge more, or charge the same price but offer far inferior quality.

The technicians at Ann's are friendly, take their time and pay attention to detail - I have never felt rushed here, and am consistently happy with the results.

Only two cons:  The salon itself could use a little sprucing up, and I wish they had a slightly larger color selection.

I usually go to Candy across the street but I decided to try out Ann's to see if there was a difference. It was a bit smaller but the atmosphere is the same. The girl who did my nails was meticulous. She spent 40 minutes on my pedicure and awhile on my manicure and it's Wednesday and I don't have a chip yet.

On the weekends it's $20 manicure & pedicure ($10 extra if you get the leg massage). I will be visiting there again in the near future- the only negative was that they don't take Amex.

I didn't have enough time to get them to redo a few of the worse ones because I had to go back to work... but for the prices they charge, I'll come back for a normal mani-pedi and update this at some point in the near future... maybe... these bubbles are driving me nuts...

After reading all these great reviews, I decided to give this place a try on my lunch break. I went in for a pedicure and absolutely hated it.

The guy that did my feet has to have been the laziest person alive. He was completely useless. He gave the worst massage I've ever had in my life. He might as well have been asleep while he was doing it because he put no muscle into it. The foot scrub was exceptionally awful. It was as if I had a 10 year old girl tickling my feet.

Then to top it off, he tipped himself out of my change! Gave himself a $2 tip for his lackluster performance.

If there was a way to give zero stars on here, I would. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your hard earned cash.

Cheap and good. The salon itself could use some re-decorating and color, but no big deal. I went to this second level salon with a co-worker during lunch and we were both sat down quickly. The color selection is limited, but not a huge issue since I wasn't looking for a specific color. My co-worker was looking for a specific Essie color and couldn't find it, but she picked out another similar color. I got a simple $8 manicure. My manicurist cut my untidy cuticles nicely and didn't nip me which was great! Would definitley come here again.

I like how they arrange the colors with the labels out so that I don't have to pick up every red looking for the exact one that I like!

I still like the skinny asian guy (who gets there a little after noon on the weekends) because he does a METICULOUS job. The other guy, not so much, but on average, decent. I was tryng to grow out my nails so I've been getting acrylics/silk wraps/gels at various places in the city, etc, but this has been my fave so far!

My fave thing about this place is that it's quiet. I hate salons that are loud and full of ppl yapping about crap.

I went here Saturday for the first time for a pedicure and they did an excellent job. It's 2 days later and the pedicure is still going strong... no smudges or chips. Also it was really cheap ($15) and the place seemed very clean.

I would definitely recommend it to others.

first time going to ann, got a gel manicure, which i have gotten from several other places around town.  they charge $30, which is average price.  my manicurist was super nice, but very slow, and unfortunately I wasn't happy with the quality.  not only are there lots of little flaws in the surface of the paint, but one nail had already chipped the VERY NEXT DAY.   maybe it's the brand of gel - they used O.P.I..  if it's going to chip like a regular manicure, it's not worth the $30 you pay for gel.

if you want gel, go somewhere else where they do calgel or another better brand ... I have found calgel doesn't ever chip, despite dog walking, dish doing, and general roughhousing i do with my nails.  i usually remove after two weeks only b/c it is growing out ...

I got a mani/pedi and although they clearly state that it costs $20 on the weekends, it actually turned out to be $23. I also got my eyebrows done for $7 and they did a great job. The room that they do the waxing in is actually the storage room with a bed shoved in it, but it worked. The foot baths were not nearly as clean as I was hoping for, but I loved the massaging chair, I have never been on one that massaged my thighs, back, and head all at the same time. I also paid an extra $10 for a longer calf and foot massage, but I wouldn't do it again. She rubbed way too hard at first and just used a cucumber lotion. I also was a bit disappointed that they did not put anything in the foot bath. It was only water, no soap or fun crystals.

Was looking for this place to get my nails done before my wedding. I came here mostly because of the reviews and I have to say this place was great.
