I'm not exactly a guru when it comes to baked goods, but I got this thing called a stomach I gotta satisfy. For starters, eliminate yourself the trouble of finding this place. It can be a doozie. Even then, heads up! Since my discovery of Anjou Bakery, the world suddenly became my enemy. Do not make haste on days you come across my check-ins. Why not slow down and enjoy life more? For, I'm the pestering bird that always gets the worm.

The place could use a little home improvement, I'll admit. A VIP for yours truly, as an example. But, I can suffice with my very own marble statue. A take at Michelangelo's David, oughta roll in customers and tourists alike? I hate to interrupt this fascinating conversation, but I'm dreadfully getting off topic here. Anyway, Anjou Bakery is at the cornerstone of all things Washington. A truly famous locale worth lookin' into.

Check out their pies! Check out their bakes! Check out their...hold it, hold it! (Hmm...that sounds awfully familiar?) In any case, I'm afraid you won't find any Powdered Flarts at Anjou Bakery. I love Flarts! They're famous for romance. Fortunately, their sandwiches and café make up for the disappointment. I'll say it again! It's worth lookin' into!

While the baking is above average, the atmosphere is taking a steady decline. The bakery was initially a rustic barn with an old west touch. Over time a modern remodel has occurred and I feel like it's taken me from the old west with charm and history to an exaggerated attempt to recreate an opulent Ikea show room.  Some things are truly just better left alone.

It's seems if you're unknown or not a local, you're just not as welcomed.

But at least they have some decent baking going on.

Better than 5 stars. I admit, I am a sucker for French bakeries... but listen, this place really is as good as it gets. If you are headed out Highway 2 and passing between Cashmere and Wentachee you better stop. SERIOUS.

I guess you could say that this place reminds me a little bit of almost every bakery I have ever loved...It will probably do the same for you. It's a great space with plenty of tables to sit and an area outside, too. There are sandwiches around lunch time and a host of fresh baked goods, pies, cookies. They do espresso and have a cold case with Pellegrino, Limonata, fresh pressed apple cider, etc. etc. I shared a black bottom cupcake and slice of cinnamon toast pastry that were both to die for. I wanted to try everything...

I am still in mourning for Ala Francaise at University Village 1983 - 2006 RIP. No place else has reminded me of it or even come close to capturing my heart since they closed the way this little place did. If only they weren't a good 125 miles from my house...

The hours are limited, but since there isn't a lot out that far on Highway 2, you can imagine why. "OPEN Thursday - Monday" is what the sign said. Perfect for all of us weekend warriors.

I've heard a lot of good things about Anjou before I finally made a stop. They close at 5pm, so every time I want to stop on the way back to Seattle it's Closed.

What to do? I stopped on my way from Seattle and it was open. Tada!

They are under remodelation, but they are still open. The staff is very friendly. They didn't have any pies when we stopped (2pm). They apparently run out before noon. AND they don't even make APPLE PIES...WHY OH WHY??? It's apple Capital of the World...now close second to China.

Cool quaint joint to get a cup of joe and read the Wenatchee World before you hit the pass.

At the start of my weekend in what I refer to as the middle of nowhere Washington I made a trip to the fantastic Anjou bakery. A favorite of my friends who frequent the area, the Anjou Bakery provides consistent delicious food.

The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The staff is friendly and make you feel welcome. Scattered benches outdoors and bench seating inside make for a relaxed meal. I recommend sitting outside and enjoying the scenery. When you get your food you can use the microwave to heat to your liking.

The bakery has a grand selection of coffee, pastries, sandwiches and panini's. On my most recent trip I had a latte, almond pastry and a brie panini. All three were delicious. I am still trying to figure out how they make the that perfect design on the top of the lattes with the foam. (see photo)

The bakery has limited hours, I believe it is only open Thursday - Sunday. It's worth rearranging your trip to make a stop at Anjou.

This gem has a great selection of freshly baked pastries. Their bread pudding was incredible. The decor was so cute and fresh and they even had an outdoor patio. I hope to make it back when I am visiting family in Leavenworth next.

this is located on highway 2 between Cashmere and Wenatchee. You can't miss it since there is a sign leading you to Anjou from the road. The structure is a rustic old farmhouse with a big porch. It's comfy and relaxed. The breads and pastries here are amazing and yet, they are extremely pricey so watch out. Lunch is served for a few hours and then you are relegated to quiche and a salad so don't expect more if you arrive late. They also make espresso which is tasty as well.

They have unpredictable days of operation. For example, we drove from Seattle and arrived there around 2 pm on a Wednesday only to find them closed. Their hours state that they are open until 5 pm but alas, nobody was home. This will not stop us from recommending this place or returning but I would suggest calling ahead just to make sure.

Their erratic hours could have left us feeling let down however, we would never had found Lamolo's had they been open in the first place (see my other review).

My wife bought me a pear tart from this bakery on her way back from Idaho. It was absolutely the best pastry I've ever eaten. Marvelous flaky pastry with a divine filling!!  If I lived near there I'd weigh 400 lbs!!!

I really love this place since they remodeled and have the outdoor patio! The pastries are really good but they don't have a very big selection and the coffee is pretty good as well. They always play good music here and everyone is really friendly!

This is a perfect place to stop if you're staying in Wenatchee and making your way back to Seattle. They carry Cafe Vita coffee and I love their baguettes with seeds. (It's great to munch on during the drive home.)

Great coffee, with their own chocolate made in house.

    Fantastic pastries and friendly staff.

Don't miss this gem in it's unassuming building/location just off US 2.

My family and I try to enjoy this place and their expensive food and coffee, but the owner just keeps ruining it for us. Never have I spent so much and felt so unwanted. They should just put up a sign that says "Buy our stuff and get the hell out."

And whatever you do, don't bring your kids, cause you will get nothing but dirty looks. I wish the owners would just chill out and try to match the vibe of their slow, country barn setting. Instead they try to pretend to be elitist food snobs who own a crappy little barn and make expensive and most of the time 2 day old pastries and sell them for full price.

We are never going back. Here is to bringing a couple french press's to the river, buying a couple pastries somewhere else and enjoying ourselves like you should on a Sunday morning.

My new favorite bakery in the area, worth the trek out of Leavenworth. The old barn structure has a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, and there is a nice little porch in front.  Good coffee, sandwiches, and bread, and excellent, excellent sweets. My family has been searching for a marionberry pie to rival one that a Leavenworth bakery used to make, and Anjou actually surpassed the original favorite.

Yum yum yum. Granted, they are only open Thurs-Sunday, so lots of people are going to miss this place. That said, if you're nearby on a weekend, you should be stopping here for a morning pastry and espresso. The cinnamon rolls are delicious, the coffee is good, the staff is friendly, the the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Things aren't cheap - it's 3-4 dollars for a croissant or roll - so be aware of that going in. There aren't a ton of options, but what they have on offer is tasty and shouldn't be missed. Easy to spot from the road near Cashmere.

Coffee was good.  Pasteries were the best I've had in the states.  I'd grow another thumb just to give them an extra thumbs up, but sadly, I lack that superpower.

Love Bakeries. Got a almond croissant- very good. Ended up taking home one of their rosemary and olive oil bread- it was awesome. Wish I would have tried their espresso but had just wasted my coffee fix on Wenatchee Starbucks- so mad about that. Next time though.

I always stop here on my way to Wenatchee, it is the best of the best if you like REAL artisan bread.  I am not sure if there is even another bakery in this entire state that can make bread as good as these folks.  I love the rosemary bread or the miche, and the costini is worth the price tag, it is AWESOME!  Thanks for being so wonderful Anjou!!!

This is a bakery in the French tradition.  Elaine's croissant was not what she expected, but it almost definitely wasn't over-baked.  Judging by the parking lot, you might like this place if you drive a station wagon and travel with a dog; if you carry things on a roof rack; or if you are a cyclist.  You will find the Seattle Times here, as well as a local paper.  If you think "Eastern Washington" means anything on the other side of the mountains, this might be a good place to pause and adjust your assumptions without leaving your comfort zone.  Absolutely delicious baked goods, and fun shabby chic barn decor.  Very busy on the weekends.  Push the door extra hard; it's just heavy.

A little local treasure. See this is what you get when someone who loves baking decides to share their food. Everything is European style, rustic and excellent. This isn't the place to take the kids for a donut. Save this for a nice adult afternoon. THEY ARE CLOSE TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS.

Bread = Yum.  And they have some great cheeses as well.  I always stop by here on my way to Seattle, thinking I will bring some yummy treats from the eastside.  I never have anything left by the time I get to my destination.  Alas.
