Love the fudge, and the owner is soo cute always coming up with new flavors! They also have a large assortment of chocolates, and candies perfect for any sweet tooth! And if you are in desperate need of a gift they have a large assortment of candles, bath sets, and gourmet baskets. I havne't been there in awhile, the last time i drove by they were having a big sale so I hope they're still around!

We Won't Budge from this Fudge: Anita's Gifts and Things in San Carlos
The boyfriend won a pound of fudge here in their monthly drawing. So we stopped by the other day to claim the fudge, buy some greeting cards, and have a look around. Anita's has a large fudge and candy counter (full of truffles and other goodies), and two rooms of gift items. There are lots of gift sets - perfect in particular for babies (pastel stuffed animals galore) and visitors (there are lots of local food gifts).
The owner is super nice and is generous with the fudge samples. All the fudge is made new daily. We chose three flavors to make up our pound of fudge, and it's definitely some of the best we've ever had. We couldn't resist the dark chocolate walnut fudge (you can never go wrong with dark chocolate). The maple pecan fudge was so yummy it reminded me of the pecan pralines we ate nonstop in New Orleans. Even though we're not always peanut butter fans, we had to get Anita's chocolate peanut butter fudge which was soft and delectable.
Anita's is only open Saturdays for the near future. The sign outside says that that's the case because of a family emergency. Only being open one day a week and running a fairly empty shop makes me worried about the livelihood of this gem of a store. Eat at Speederia Pizzeria across the street, and then be sure to stop by Anita's to get some fudge.

Love Anita's! It's all about the fudge! The staff is wonderful, and the fudge is lovely -- creamy, never gritty, and in a nice set of flavors, including some seasonal flavors, like Pumpkin in the fall. Anita's also stocks some "penny candies" -- gummies, etc -- and a range of gifts of different kinds, but we go for the fudge, and sometimes the by-the piece chocolates.
On the down side, they have a $10.00 minimum credit charge I think, so you can't just have a tiny bite or two of fudge unless you're paying cash. Hours are sometimes short or varied, because they have a small staff and seem to have been having problems lately, but it's great to have a neighborhood candy store. :-)
