This place has good chicken. Call ahead, pick it up and take it home. You won't be disappointed unless you expect good service with a friendly smile. This is not the place for that. It's for chicken. The owner doesn't care about anything but selling you that chicken. Just setting your expectations.

If you ask nicely he might give you an extra side order of the addictive garlic sauce.

I've been a long time customer of Ani's Chicken, and I never really write reviews which explains why i havent written very many, but in order to express me loyalthy to this fine establishment I feel like it is my duty. I have known Sarkis for about 7-years he is a very nice man, and I always enjoy our conversations when I eat here with my family. The employees are very nice, the place is clean and the food is impeccable.

I have noticed a lot of people complain because they cant bring their own softdrinks/water into the restaurant. I think this is hilarious and definetly does not warrent lowering the amount of stars one would give. Why would you bring water into a restaurant? Do you bring your own food when your family invites you over for Thanskgiving? No, of course not a classless person would do that. Would a classless person also write such a review because they are far too cheap to spend a buck? That, my friend is for the reader to decide.

All in all Ani's is an amazing restaurant where the food is fresh, the service is impeccable and it feels good to be a socially responsible person and buy from a mom and pop shop.

    Eat local think global ;)

    Delicious chicken, hummus, pita, rice.

Eat this for lunch: the gyro special

Eat this for dinner: any of the chicken or kabob plates
The Lula kabob (beef or chicken) is delicious. I'd get either.

The people that work here are really nice. I've been coming here for years and ordered for myself, my family, and large groups at church. They have been very accommodating for all. It's a better deal and better food than Zankou's by far.

Decent whole chicken, I say would feed about 4. Their pita bread and hummus is what I love! Something about that chicken wrapped in the soft bread with hummus and sour cream makes me want more. I tried a slice of their walnut candied bread dessert and its just too sweet for me. Crushed walnut smothered with honey and cinnamon in a flaky bread with honey poured all over.

This place is awesome to order food to go.  The place its self is pretty small but their food is yummy.  I ordered large platters for my birthday dinner for about 25 people I had a ton of chicken, rice, salad, hummus, and pita bread all for around $100.  All my friends and family had seconds and even thirds and I still had chicken left over.  Great portions, and everything was ready on time just for me to pick up.

"Hey Dad, I brought some more chicken for us to check out".  "Oh, that's great!  Come on in".  You'd think he and Lillian would say, "That's enough we are good".  But they were getting into this whole fabulous world of chicken.  Understand, they wanted to pickup Walmart or Costco chicken for their little party as that's all they know.  Chicken quest still moving on.

I explained how Ani's makes a similar rotisserie chicken as Zankou so I thought it's worth a try for us to see how they compare.  Explained how Ani's is an Armenian take on Zankou's Beirut version of the same. blah blah blah.  Also that Ani's is super close and a lot cheaper (my dad gets off that word big time).

In comparison to Zankou the humus was definitely more tangy and had a stronger cumin flavor.   Also, the chicken was definitely on the dry side and not nearly as flavorful nor juicy as Zankou's.  My dad doesn't talk in those terms.  Within 30 seconds while stuffing chicken, hummus, and garlic spread into his mouth he started saying, "the other place was better".  Next, 30 seconds, "the other place was better",  Multiply this by 5 or 10 times and you get the picture.  I was saying, "Dad, don't talk with food in your mouth, I can see it".  Next 30 seconds, "Dad, don't talk .....".  etc. etc.  I laugh in retrospect as it's classic.

Anyways, like my dad said, "the other place was better".

This was possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had.  After waiting 45 minutes for our food, and seeing multiple other parties that had arrived after us get served before us, the owner/manager put our food outside without telling us, and when we finally tried to cancel the order to leave, he yelled at one of my companions and told her not to complain because he was old enough to be her father.  He also had some choice four letter words for her.  All-in-all a terrible experience for mediocre food.

Avoid this restaurant like the plague.  I think the owner must have some issues with the size or functionality of his manhood, because he clearly has issues with women.

I love that this place is close to my place.  Love their gyro, they don't skimp on the meat!!! It's about an 8.00 meal.  Usually get the family chicken meal, about 16.00.  Love their salad, the whole meal is just delicious.  Had their bakalava once and they made it just how I like it.  No complaints.  We always do take out.

Service is slow, meat is cooked unevenly (one side of the kebab was tender and moist while the other was dry), portions are small, hummus doesn't have enough tahini in it, and it's a Greek salad, not Greek salad ingredients with Italian dressing. Ew, please.

That said, I'd rather head over to Zankou.  It's faster, cleaner, and tastier too.

Park out front, if the spaces fill up, street parking is available.

Owner would not accept http://Restaurant.com certificate and was SUPER RUDE about it!!

If the owner was a bit nicer, I wouldn't mind. But the way he came off as if I would not spend full price on the damn $6 combos. So screw him!

What do you order when every thing looks so good? My boyfriend, his mom and I literally stood there and starred at the menu for a good 15 minutes before we were ready to order. Chicken, Lula (ground beef) Kabob and Beef Kabob was the final decision.

Chicken- Cooked to perfection! Skin was crispy and inside was moist.
Lula Kabob- Packed with sooo much flavor.
Beef Kabob- Melts in your mouth, so tender.

If you like garlic order their garlic sauce to go with your meal if it doesn't come with it, its cool, refreshing and is packed with garlic flavor. I would definitely come back to try their other items.

On the positive side, the food here was delicious and all 4 people in my party were happy with and enjoyed their rotisserie chicken, beef kebabs, rice, salads, pita, and hummus. It was my first time there today and I was very impressed with the food. The prices seemed a bit high for lunch in that area $8-$10 per plate, but it was very good.
Where the stars get knocked off is in the ambiance department it's really not all that clean or attractive.
Stars really got dropped due to our experience with the owner/clerk. My friend and I had brought in our own water bottles (both of us making our effort to be eco-friendly and healthy by not drinking soda) and were rudely ordered to take them back out to our cars. We were already in the middle of our lunches and he said, "No outside food or drink allowed! Take it back to your car." I reluctantly did so and then went up to the counter to ask for cups of ice water to drink with our meals. He said, "No, we don't have that. You have to buy our bottled water." I'm wondering if that's even LEGAL???
Anyway, it was a BAD EXPERIENCE AND I WILL NEVER RETURN TO ANI'S, even though the food was good. Customers should NEVER be treated this way!

i think before today, based on food alone, i would have given a three to four star rating. however, we ate there today and it spoiled the experience.

i'm the kind of person that brings water with me everywhere i go in my purse. i don't drink soda and always just prefer to have water. After we ordered i ran to my car to grab my water bottle and the guy yelled at me and said "no outside food or drinks!" He offered me a cup of ice water in a cup which was nice, but already my experience was off to a crappy start. who doesn't allow a water bottle inside the restaurant?? he then gave us just two waters for three people. i had to ask for another.

he gave us our food which was a plate of beef and a whole chicken. everything came on styrofoam plates and he didn't even give us plates to put our individual food on. the warm pitas turned crunchy and hard halfway through the meal, obviously microwaved.

after we ate i wasn't sure what to do with my plates. do u bus them myself? do i throw it away? it was just awkward as i figured out what to do with my stuff.

the garlic is half as good as zankou at best. the chicken is good, but after todays crumby service and zankou down the street i'll be going to zankou only.

The chicken at Ani's is fairly consistent. The Greek Salad is very good.

If you are into Hummus, this is the place to get it. I normally order several large sides of hummus and pita to take home. I often top my salad with their hummus as well.

They rice pilaf is a bit oily, so I normally swap it with a different side dish.

I love family-owned places with authentic native foods. This place is one of them. It's consistent throughout the years, it's original, and it's fresh. I get their plate combos, tabouleh, tzatziki, and garlic sauce for $1 more. They used to give pita bread whenever you ask for them if you're dining in, but now they charge... which is understandable considering the economy.  I came here with a friend pretty late one night and the owner was nice enough to wait for us to finish before they close. Gotta love family-owned!

I'm a frequent and will forever be a frequent. I am now a mediterranean food lover!

I had been coming to eat here often and even bringing friends & family to try this place, but so far I haven't felt as inclined to go back to eat here, mostly because of the portions of the food (they have unfortunately been reduced!)

I still believe that this place has  wonderful hummus, garlic sauce, and roasted chicken, but when I ordered my meal to go and I opened it when I got home, I was saddened that the plate looked half empty :-/ It may be a sign of the times... I also wish the quality of the salad were better, but instead I go to Krazy Kabob down the street on Beverly.

About a week ago my best friend let me know she wanted to try Ani's Chicken. I'm not sure how she heard of it but we decided to go yesterday. First off, the location kinda sucks. It is on a main street and easy to pass if you aren't paying close attention. The parking lot is pretty small but luckily we got there just as another car left.

The place itself is rather small. There are only a few tables and the arrangement is a bit akward since the line to order food is between two tables. When we got there, there were three couples ahead of us and since the guy working there was new he took a little longer to get peoples orders right. We ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, lamb kabob plate, potato salad, kidney beans, and an extra order of pita bread.  After we ordered we decided to wait outside. We ended up waiting a good 20-30 mins for our food. Which wasn't too bad considering it was pretty busy and there were about 3 or 4 people who came to pick up orders they called in.

The drive home was painful since the food smelled so good. I just wanted to dig in. I had the chicken kabob plate and it was soo good. The chicken was moist and flavorful, the hummus was very good, the rice was basic but still good. The salad wasn't very good; it could have used more dressing. The garlic sauce that came with it was fantastic, next time I will see if I can order extra. The kidney beans were ok, but not something I would order again, and the potato salad was very good. My best friend said the lamb was really good too. They also messed up our order and gave us an extra chicken sandwich which we gave to my friend's mom.

The service was decent. The guy taking our order was very nice and learning the ropes and let us know when our order was almost ready. Overall this is a good place to get Middle Eastern food. I do recommend calling your order in or ordering there and taking it to go. Next time I will defiantly order more garlic sauce, a large hummus and extra pita bread, it is so yummy.

When I come to Ani's I like to get the chicken kabobs and some tabouleh. Their tabouleh kicks ass. Sometimes I go in for just tabouleh, hummus and pita bread. Those three things make me a happy girl.

Ani's is pretty small inside so I like to take my order to go. They tend to be a little slow but it's because they make your food by order. Another tip is to call in your order so you can just pick it up. ;)

I was craving for Zankou chicken and thought I would give this place a try since it's supposed to be similar to Zankou.

Got the chicken special for $6.99.  A whole chicken, pita bread, garlic sauce, lula sandwich...and an order of stuffed grape leaves.

    Lula sandwich:  kinda bland....2.5 stars.
Chicken:  I was disappointed with the first bite but it got better with every bite.  It melted in my mouth.  It didn't taste as good as Zankou though..3 stars
Stuffed grape leaves:  I kinda regretted ordering this because it's mushy.  I prefer the one from George's Greek.  2 stars.

Service was great!!  The two guys helping us were super friendly and nice.

2.5 stars for the food and 5 stars for service!!

Ani's BBQ chicken is kinda yummylicious!!

I have finally graduated from ordering the half chicken special. I am here for dinner on a weekly basis and have tried the lamb which is soooo good! My bf had the chops and he says they were the tastiest, most moist in his entire life. There are 4 small chops with rice which is better than any other place. Another fave is the combo chicken and lamb, the wraps are delicious. We have tried just about everything but just can't get into the hummus but do love the garlic cucumber sauce. LOVE this place!!!

I love that Sarkis (the owner) and his workers are attentive. Minutes from the house and they now deliver to local businesses.

Located near Down Town Montebello is this gem called Ani's BBQ Chicken. It's a freakin HUGE place with tons of parking spot. The whole place is pretty chill cozy interior nice people working here and very attentive. This would totally fit for a perfect date spot. I'm serious this place is awesome!!!

Nah I'm just fuck*ng with you.

It's a small spot in Montebello that could probably seat 20 people inside and 10 outside. Small straight up no bullshit place that serves great chicken! I was planning to head to Zankou but I went here instead just to try it and I wasn't disappointed at all. I ordered the special #2 which is half chicken with rice salad and pita bread, I also ordered a piece of lula kabob just to try it. The only thing that sucks is that I didn't pay attention to the big ass sign in front that says $6.99 for a whole rotisserie chicken! I should have totally gotten that and bring the other half for lunch.

    Go try this place!!!

    Yeah you!

I'm sitting at the computer writing this review and my mouth is watering with thoughts of Glorious Grilled Kabobs on the way home for dinner. My wife found Ani about 10 years ago and we make our occaisional stop whenever I get in the mood for a Kabob. Funny thing is that I really don't like their chicken. Tastes ok but I find it to dry. I hate dry chicken. But I love their Kabobs. Beef, Pork, Lamb, Chicken, Chicken Breast or the awesome Lula Kabobs, I like Chicken best. Their Rice is great and with the Hummos it reminds me of working in Glendale. Here's the best part, the owners are really cool. The Family works there and they all know their stuff. With all the reviews I've done I haven't gone out to find a better Kabob. I think I will make it quest, but if it gets better than Anis I will be in for a Great treat.

Before Zankou Chicken opened up it's doors in Montebello, there was Ani's Chicken.  Sure they both serve similar food but Ani's Chicken is mom & pop while the other is corporate.

Between the two, I prefer Ani's chicken because it is a bit more juicy but a bit more oily.  It has more flavor and the price is just right: $6.99 for a whole chicken is their special.

I've had their family meal which comes with salad and a couple of sides.  The only thing I wanted to try and that is always unavailable has been the baba ghanoush.

For a quick meal and craving for chicken, I'd choose Ani's Chicken.

Ani's blows Zankou out of the water.  For serious.  I could write a whole thesis about why Ani's is the best Mediterranean-style rotisserie chicken/kabob place I've had in LA.  But instead I'll give you 5 reasons why you should eat there:

    5. The only other Mediterranean-style rotisserie chicken/kabob place in LA i've tried is Zankou and Ani's is cheaper, tastier, and they give you all the pita bread you want when you eat there.
    4. Ani's is family-owned I think and I always like supporting the local mom and pop shops.
    3. OMG THEIR GARLIC SAUCE.  I just want to rub it all over my body.  So delicious and way better than Zankou's.
    2. Can't think of any more.
    1. Oh just thought of something, their hummus is creamy and delicious.

They've provided dinner for my family and I many-a-time (family meal 1 whole chicken, rice pilaf, greek salad, a large hummus and a whole pack of pita bread for like $16) and they're always a hit.

    EAT ANI'S

I'm sold on this place when I need to pick up something really quick to take home.

Any BBQ plate you get has all the fixings you need:   salad, humus, bed of flavored rice and a whole stack of pita bread.    i personally love the BBQ chicken kabobs.  Nuff said.

You might see the Armenian version of the Sopranos sitting in here in their Fila or Coogi suits sometimes, but don't worry,  everybody is nice as long as you don't stare.

This place has been here for a long time, and I don't know why I've never tried it out. Well, maybe I do. I totally thought it was a broasted chicken place.

Sick of all the tacos, burritos, and burgers. Not wanting sushi or Zankou. Wanting to be a bit healthy we decided to go get chicken.

I was surprised when I walked in to see gyros and hummus and tabouleh. My mood immediately brightened. Now see, I don't like chicken usually, but when it's made on a kabob I'll scarf it down.

Ordered the chicken kabob with a side of hummus. Hummus was great, so much better than the stuff I'd been buying at the grocery store. The plate was good, I thought better than Zankou.

The person I was with got a gyro, which I believe they were slightly disappointed with as the red peppers were overpowering the flavor of the meat.

The staff was friendly and welcoming and the place was kinda hopping.

In my opinion: Ani reminds me of the soupnazi. You can go in here for ten yrs straight, and unless your one of his croonies..don't expect a friendly dude.  I'll been going in there a few years, and its just my observation. Their food isn't as good as it used to be. Its still damn good though, when chicken kabobs arent burnt. Think of Ani's kabobs as a drug deal, you walk in w money, get your goods, and get the hell out. No makey friends w Ani & as for customer service you pay, & he tosses you your food. Go home and enjoy your delicious meal, invite me over cause I told you about this place. Share the kebob, damn it! Seriously, this place, made me a kebob addict, damn you, Ani!!!

I love this place! The food is sooooo delicious! I usually get the beef kabob plate and completely finish it all in one sitting! Yes it's a lot of food but I just can't seem to help myself. Even thinking of the food right now is making my mouth water. I would eat here everyday if I had the means $$ to!
Service is always nice and friendly here. Tables fill up fast if you plan on eating there at prime eating times, but I always call in my order for faster service!

Sarkis the owner is a very nice man and his restaurant is small but clean . The food is very good and the service is personal and quick. Do not sit at the table by the register , as you will be bumped by men wearing Adidas warm up suits with dress shoes , and they will not apologize.
    Clean restroom but limited parking

One of my favorite rotisserie chicken places!  Mmmm garlic sauce!  Hummus!

Ani's Chicken offers party packs/catering (just call two hours in advance)!

It's a good idea to call in to pre-order your dine in or pick up.  :)

(on a side note: there aren't too many parking spots in the lot)

On Sunday we had a belated mothers day celebration due to my mother and Auntie not being in towne, so we (the kids) had some time to plan a partay..

So My cuz Corrine texted asking what we should do and that my brother had mentioned having a toga party, with that being said and me bieng a big dude I looked like a dark version of John Belushi from the movie Animal House... Not a good site..lol.

Anyways we decided to order from Ani's Chicken. I have always wanted to try it and never got a chance until Sunday. We ordered a grip of food that they said would feed 17 people, well hell there was like 25 people that showed up (some invited some uninvited, but familey non the less) and we still had food left over. The food was freaking awsome and they hooked it up with 7 different apitizers now that what the Fuck Im talkin bout,  everything was bombay.. The chicken was off the chain and the lamb was so good my son even dug on it. I think i would say that my fav would have to be all of it cause I'm a fat ass that likes to grub..

And as far as price went i don't think we could have beat it if we had bats. it was soo cheap.. you gotta check this place out.. trust u'll dig it..

My husband and I came in with a http://restaurant.com coupon.  We tried to order a "family special" (what we usually get), plus enough other items to get us over the minimum for the coupon, but the owner refused and told us we had to order separate plates.  That's not what the coupon says, but we were on a date and didn't want to ruin the night, so we agreed not to press it.  We ordered separate plates, and made sure to go over the minimum again.  The guy at the register took our order, then went in the back.

The owner came out a minute later with a calculator.  He added the bill up (ok), calculated tax and 19% tip on the original total (again ok, that's what the coupon says)...then added $5 to the bill (WTF?!?).  My husband asked where the coupon said there was an additional $5 charge, and the owner pointed to a clause in the fine print that said "not valid without additional consideration."  Owner claimed "additional consideration" meant he could charge us an additional fee (whatever he wanted, apparently) for the privilege of using our coupon.

Now, that's complete and utter bullshit.

The "additional consideration" clause means you have to buy something and you have to pay some money for it -- in other words, you can't use the coupon alone to get a free meal.  We have used those coupons at four other restaurants, and none of them tried pulling that trick on us.

My husband (a lawyer) got irritated and started arguing with the owner over the meaning of "consideration"...at which point the owner backtracked, claimed http://restaurant.com was a scam, and offered us the whole meal for the discounted price with no tax and no tip.  (We took it, but still...WTF?  That just underscores how shady this guy is in the first place.)

On top of all that, the owner was very rude and patronizing the entire time.  Insinuating that we hadn't read the fine print, underlining bits and pieces of the fine print, etc.  (Again: lawyer husband.  Irritated.)

I mean, it's one thing if the owner just refuses to accept http://restaurant.com coupons.  We know some places don't like it.  But bullshitting us about what the coupon says, pulling an extra $5 charge out of thin air, AND being a jerk about it the whole time?  Come on.

Note to self: from now on, no more coupons, and take out only at this place.

I love this place.  The chicken is moist and flavorful.  The last time I went here I got the chicken kabob plate.  It came with a salad, rice, garlic sauce, and pita bread.  The garlic sauce is amazing! I could eat tons of it and I think I'll ask for extra next time.  I liked everything except for the salad because the dressing was a bit sour. I also got some hummus and it was delectable! It was a great compliment to my chicken kabob plate.  The only bad thing about this place is the parking-- it can be a pain sometimes because there is a limited number of spaces.

This is the place to go for perfect rotisserie chicken. Everything from their entrees to their condiments are awesome. By far my favorite place to get hummus.

Be sure to try their chicken early afternoon because by closing time, you'll be lucked out with the less meaty chicken.

I crossed the road to Ani's because the nightwatch security guards at our company's secure facility recommended the place.  I asked them because beyond the Arches I had no idea where in late-night LA excellent food could be found, and figured... well who knows better than the nightwatch badgerinos?

The rotisserie chicken would make a vegan renege.  The Armenian salad would make a carnivore reconsider.  The baklava ranks among some of the best I have had anywhere.  The dill-infused olive oil was ample and the price for everything for our twosome was less than $20.  We've got a BINGO.

(hint:  out of towners worship the Garmin).
