I have a beagle.
Beagles hate, HATE getting their nails trimmed, especially my little guy.. Everytime I try to do this on my own, I think my neighbors must think i'm killing someone on a monthly basis with all the howling and wailing..
Simply called Animal Salon, the staff here are super friendly, take time to get to know your dog and can do wonders with the most fidgety animals... My dog was in and out in a few minutes with his vocal chords intact and my presence of mind calm.
If you've given up hope on nail trims for your pet give this place a try! -

After checking out the prices at Petco for a grooming and wash, I was kind of turned off by their $46 price for my small terrier/dachshund mix.
However, when I shopped for prices, Animal Salon quoted me $35! Nice! I was a little apprehensive dropping my dog off, he looked so nervous! But Adrienne was super caring and took some time to get to know him.
When I got my dog back, he was super happy and looked great! I told him I just needed a cut, wash and nail trim, but Adrienne saw that he sheds like crazy and gave him a specialty formulated shampoo without me asking!
Animal Salon is nothing fancy, but they're super nice and really accommodating toward a busy schedule. -

Pros: They keep the time they gave you. Reasonable pricing. They care about the dogs.
Cons: They can't take directions and don't really care what actually happened with the dog.
This poor dog had an incident at the vet where they gave her 2 rabies vaccine instead of the regular 1 vaccine so she has 2 big-O bald spots. On top of that, she has a hot spot from allergies.
We explained this to them when we dropped her off and explained that we didn't need her groomed pretty but just to shave or clip her fur to make her more comfortable. Guess what we got back? A dog with combed out long ear and head fur and a ear-full of lecture on how this dog is matted and the spots are from her chewing on the matted fur.
We don't NEED or WANT her to have long fur or combed out puffy fur. We WANT her to be comfortable and short haired because she just had problems with her skin from the vaccines.
What a bunch of self-righteous people! We are two people one works 70+ hrs/wk and the other is a sleep-deprived nursing student. I am doing the best I can, OK? Next time I will be sure to cut off all the mats before taking her in or maybe show you MY matted hair instead since I haven't been to a salon in over 8 months yet I took my dog to you before getting a haircut myself?!?!?!?!?!? -

If you have BIG dogs, this is your place ! I am sooooo tired of grooming places that only cater to tiny breeds. They roll their eyes and id they will even take a big dog, they will charge you a hell of a lot of money for a simple bath and trim. Everyone at the Animal Salon has bent over backwards to provide GREAT service at a more than reasonable cost for our giant breed dogs over the years. We have St. Bernards and Newfoundlands, and 2 of them have been extremely shy and scared and one could not get up onto a table to be groomed. They were always handled with the utmost care and respect and love and patience. I am not picky about any special haircuts, just wanted baths and trims , but was always very happy with however the dogs 'cuts' came out, and would highly, highly recommend these groomers to anyone with large dogs.

This place is the best value for pet grooming. We have 2 old dogs, ages 12 and 13, and don't get them groomed very often but now that we found this place, we'll definitely get them groomed more often. The prices were really reasonable, $70 for both dogs (which is cheaper than Petco). Their haircuts are pretty standard, nothing pretty or fancy, and the groomer did a great job. One of our dogs is blind and they took great care of him and even put him in the same cage as our other dog so that he has someone familiar with him. They also gave them a break in the middle of grooming so that they don't tired or scared. I just feel like they made the extra effort to make our dogs feel comfortable.
To summarize: dog loving groomers + reasonable pricing = 5 stars. -

I took my cat in for his annual emasculation, erm, lion cut due to it getting "hotter" for the summer. I called a few days in advance and was directed to Melissa who generally does cat grooming.
She recommended I come in right at open on Saturday morning to avoid the big dog rush that happens every morning around 9 AM. I went in with a scared cat, but she was very friendly and gentle. I watched the cut and wash and thought it was swift yet precise.
I'll gladly take my cat back here whenever he needs a trim or cut again. -

OK we gave this place another try since Doodles was starting to look like we could make a sweater out of him. Plus the poor little guy was shpetzing out in the desert and everything was sticking to his "wool" when he came in to take a drink of water. He was a mess, the floors were a mess, but he was so cute and fluffy when clean!
Doodles was paired off with Melissa this time and the whole ordeal went much better. He looks ridiculous without hair, but the whole ordeal only took an hour and he and Melissa were still friends when it was over. It's always a good sign when your pet is still lovey dovey after something as traumatic as ...a bath! We shall return! -

Animal Salon is a hidden gem! It's a small grooming salon tucked away in a PQ shopping center. I never would have taken notice of it if it hadn't been recommended to me by a friend.
We had never had Roxy professionally groomed before. I'll admit, we were a bit nervous the first time we brought her here. Fortunately for us (and for Roxy), our fears were unwarranted. Terri did an amazing job. Roxy looks great and has received tons of compliments on her new 'do!
Best of all, the prices were extremely reasonable. I would have expected a much higher price for a dog Roxy's size. It helps that we were given a great price because Roxy is apparently (and surprisingly) easy to work with.
Don't go here expecting a fancy, high end salon. It's very simple, with no frills. But that's fine, because the service quality is amazing! Roxy has gotten her hurr did twice, and I guarantee she'll be back!
*Bonus point given for the fun bandanas Roxy gets. I'm so glad they don't put frilly bows on her head!Listed in: Two Paws Up!

My dogs have been clients of The Animal Salon for years. This place is super clean and doesn't have that wet dog smell! The groomers are very nice and professional. Making appointments is a breeze, and they call you when your dog is ready to be picked up. If you're running late, don't worry...your' dogs will be happy there.
My only complaint is that they don't take credit cards. -

Best Groomers in Rancho Penasquitos and well worth the drive if you're not. These animal loving people will transform your shaggy dog or cat. from head to toe. Shampoo, cut and care are on the menu of services.
Everyone there is a true animal lover and I wasn't surprised to see the groomers sneak kisses and hugs while they were working, no wonder the animals don't fuzz when they're left there.
Leave your worries at the door and let these wonderful, skilled and talented Animal Salon workers will clean up your kitty or dog. -

I love this place. My angel Mickey had a horrible time with groomers for years. Sharon the owner and her daughter take special care with every request I have ever made to be gentle and loving with my 10 year old shih tzu, Mickey. They are an 'animal centered' business and truly care about the dogs. It is calmer than most grooming places I have been. Just tell the groomer what your baby's special needs are and they will oblige. AND their prices are very reasonable. I trust Animal Salon completely....to respond to another comment about bleeding toenail-sometimes it cannot be helped-especially if your dog has long quicks, like my baby-even at the vet it happens but for me it has never happened at Animal Salon.

Sooo not impressed with this place. First off it was not clean at all. Then I had to wait until one of the dog groomers got done with her conversation with her friend to ask me why I was there. I explained to her that my dog just needed her nails clipped, but please be careful due to past bad experiences with her previous dog groomer. The first nail she cut was so short I can barely see it! BLOOD!!! Are you kidding me! I just said to be careful. What part of that did she not understand. I would never recommend this place.

I took my dog here and they did such a good job! The prices aren't bad at all and the staff is sooo friendly! I'll definitely be coming here more often. by the way, don't go to Petco in Carmel Mt. I heard one of the groomers yelling at a dog.. how sad =(

Very reasonably priced. I take my toy poodle/ bichon mix to get groomed here. Audrey is a sweet old lady. She does a thorough job, feet are always spotless. However, you must be VERY specific on what you want (i.e. don't make them look like yuppy poodles... I want fluffy teddy bear look)... or else you might have a funny looking dog for the next several weeks!

My previous reviews are not good enough..haha. So i went in and i got my lhasa apso mix groomed/shaved. Since he gets mats very easily i just have them shave him. The price is still $35, cash/check only but it comes with a bath, cut, nail clipping, anal gland cleaning, and ear hair plucking. All of that for only $35! It really is a good deal. The last time it went it took about 3 1/2 hours, shorter than before. Good deal, I recommend this place to everyone! And they are very thorough!

Great experience in all ways. I took my Schnoodle here today for the first time. They took very good care of him and he looks and smells great. The price was very reasonable and I will be going back regularly.
