I used to go to a VCA vet for both of my two previous cats. With my new kitten, I picked this vet because it is close to my house. VCA is way more expensive than this vet! I agree with other posters that the vet can be a little brief and doesn't always answer questions in detail. Still, I had a really good experience when they spayed my kitten a few months ago. I've never had to spay a cat before and was really nervous about the whole thing. They did an awesome job of calming me down! Also, the next day, when I was worried about her stitches, I was told to come in within the hour (for free) and the doctor checked everything out to make sure it was all good. He didn't seem to mind my nervous cat-mommy fears and did a great job of making me relax.
I've never actually had an exam but when my cat is due I will try them out!
I am the owner of an american terrier pit bull, jesus, and I get very agitated when he becomes sick or needs a routine doctor's exam. He is truly the love of my life and I do not trust just any Vet to take care of him the way I would. Dr. Grewal at Animal Medical Center is passionate about his love for animals and it shows. Not only is he caring, but he takes the time to eduicate you about your pet's needs, and I find that very comforting.
I've been using Animal Medical Center for a new cat I adopted because this vet was the one the pet shelter would cover the cost to use for my initial visit.
This cat ended up needing quite a few medical procedures in the few months I've had him and I've taken him to AMC for all of it.
- Surgery to remove cyst
- Infected eye
- Tapeworms
I've been pleased with AMC and Dr Grewal. While the place may not ooze with lovey-doveyness, they seem to do a fine job addressing the medical issues.
I previously had ranked AMC at 4 stars but am upgrading my review to 5 as I am proud of my last experience with them. I had taken my puppy in who was vomiting and very lethargic in to Dr Grewal and his staff. Knowing that for a puppy to be this sick so early on chances are not always that great. The doctor and his staff did a great job in communicating with me daily as they had kept my pup for 2 nights performing blood work, administering fluids, and antibiotics. He is back home with me now, feeling good and back to his normal self.
I'd like to thank the doctor and his staff for their great work and consistent good service over the years!

I have been taking my pets to AMC for over ten years after being referred by a close friend. I… Read more »
I am never going here again. I took my female dog, Terri, here because apparently our vet had moved here. It was just down the block from where we lived, anyway.
I walk in, the front is in order and the girl at the counter is helpful and friendly. Great.
After filling out the "new patient" info and waiting about 10 minutes, Terri and I are taken into an exam room.
After a few minutes, in walks the vet and his tech. I immediately let them know that *I* should be the one to muzzle my dog - and, good for them, they let me do it. (I've worked in a clinic and a kennel - my dog is just plain nuts, and I know how to care for her).
My reason for going was that she was having seizure-like panic attacks - not something I'd ever witnessed a dog having, so I was obviously a little concerned.
Anyway, the vet (I forget his name, maybe if I can find the paperwork later on) was cold and unfriendly. He examined her, did the bloodwork I asked for, and then when I started asking about arthritis medications (she's 10) he looked at me like "I'm sorry, who here went to Med school?" and said to me "How do you KNOW it's arthritis, have you had any x-rays done?"
WHAT?! Are you telling me that after 3 years of working with animals I can't tell when my own dog has arthritis?!
Anyway, $163 later ($40 just for the visit), I received a phone call from him telling me that her bloodwork was basically fine, but there were a few things he'd like me to come back in for and check: urine and stool samples, as well as a few x-rays. He turned a 3-minute phone call into a 15-minute lecture/sale. He basically treated me like somebody who just had her car looked at and he's the mechanic attempting to sell me on 4 new tires, an unnecessary transmission flush, and how about a touch of lavender sprayed in there for fresh scent? It'll only cost you $500 more!
Bah. I can't stand people like that. This is my child. I know she's crazy. I know she's old (still a good 5 years left on her, though). I know her teeth are horrible. I don't need to be sold on a bunch of unnecessary procedures by some asshole vet who overcharges. (He really was an asshole - I spared you from the details of his attitude.)
I'm taking her and her brother to Cambrian Animal Hospital tomorrow for their shots and a dental consultation. I've already been told just the visits are $34 each, but I'm going to trust my fellow Yelpers and hope for a similar great experience.
The office staff are pretty friendly. And I'm sure they do a fairly good job at caring for your animals. However, I always frown when someone tries to pressure me into buying something after I've said no several times.
I had adopted two cats and came to this veterinarian simply because the foster family took them here for their first sets of visits. The foster family had given me all the shot documentation and certificates, however, the doctor argued that he would need to retake those shots because he had no record of them in his office. I gave in and allowed him to retake those shots even though I had the proof in my hands.
I've brought my cats to him a total of 3 times and each time he seemed more interested in trying to sell me a prescription strength flea medication by Frontline. He was very persistent on trying to make that sale but I stood my ground. When he gave up on trying to convince me I overheard him tell his receptionists to continue to ask me. I've had my cats for 2 years and never had flea problems. Guess he needed the money to pay off that Benz parked out in front. I'm going to try a different veterinarian next time.
I am editing my 3 stars to 1 after yesterday. First of all, I think the expired antibiotics show serious irresponsibility. Second, I went to a new vet yesterday and she told me for my cat's diabetes he needs to be on wet food, and that the food AMC sold me (for $29) is no good. I've done some research and it shows that this food is not preferred anymore. I am going today to try to get new antibiotics and return the food, which I don't know if they'll let me do. Original (3 star) review is below.
I took my cat here to get his teeth cleaned, since it was way cheaper than a quote I got at another vet. The other vet had also said I'd have to come in separately for the bloodwork and then the cleaning. At AMC they did everything right then- just had to pick up my kitty a couple hours later, so that was good. When they did the blood work needed for the anesthesia, they found that he had diabetes (hence the bad teeth). Well, since there is a serious problem, I looked at reviews on here and was really concerned, so I am taking him to a new place today. The doctor does seem to care about my cat but is a little scattered when you talk to him on the phone. Also, the antibiotics they gave me after the cleaning are expired! So, I would say this place is probably fine for your simple vaccinations or cleanings, but for a serious problem look for a more reputable doctor.
Last Saturday my normal Vet was closed, and my 6 year old dog was really sick, and he was vomiting, and drinking a lot of water since the night before. One of my neighbors recommended AMC, and i looked at Yelp and i was a little bit reluctant after seeing some negative comments since emergency clinic was to expensive i took a chance, and i called them, and they took me in right away knowing the seriousness of the situation. At the end of the day i know I made the right decision and i saved my dogs life. The staff was very helpful, nice, and passionate towards the animal. The Doctor was by far the best doctor I have gone to. He was actually cared about the animal, and he did X-rays and blood tests, and he explained to me what was really going on and how to fix it. They revealed to me that my dog had a uterus infection since my dog has not been fixed. They did immediate surgery, and they saved my dogs life.He was very sincere by the way he handled his clients. AMC is by far the best place for pets to be brought in. I am switching Vets immediately to AMC right away. Then i
I just returned home from my visit to this vet. It definitely left a lot to be desired. I had never been here before and I would have expected the vet to show some sort of interest in my pet and her habits. The exam litterally took a total of not more than 5 minutes (and that's being generous). It was difficult to get a clear explanation on vaccines. They don't offer a vaccine clinic and don't know of any in the areas. It was suggested that I try Petco! If I did want to bring her back for shots (which I was thinking about doing so I could go home and do my own research on what a dog her age needed) I would have to pay for another $38 office visit. The vet also recommended blood work because she's an older dog. I'm fine with that but tell me the benefits and why I should do it. Arg! I'm so frustrated and will never go back to this place.
I've been taking my pets to AMC for close to 13 years. I have nothing but excellent praise for the care and attention that they give to each patient and its owner. I've taken three different dogs to AMC over the years and never thought for a second to take them out of Dr. Grewal's care. The office has handled multiple emergency situation for my pets with extreme professionalism and care. Each time, the pet has recovered well with absolutely no problems.
I've also referred many pets over to Dr. Grewal's office and hear back nothing but excellent reviews of the care their pet received. To this day, each pet owner has loyally stayed with AMC for all their pet's health needs.
I'm not sure if the above reviews are real or not, because I could never imagine the office staff and doctor treating any pet owner in a negative way. AMC has never tried to sell me anything that I didn't need and even advised me of how I could save money by waiting to see how the conservative treatments work for my pet. Their prices are always reasonable and I've never been overcharged for anything. They've actually SAVED me a couple thousand dollars because I took their advice and didn't go the surgical route for a problem my dog was having.
Again, I wouldn't take my pets to any other doctor. AMC is always my first choice for my pet's health.
