This review is for the Grooming Spa, part of the Hospital:

Absolutely thrilled with the grooming Todd gave us on our Yorkie, Cosmo. Just wonderful! We have had so many haphazard groomings on Cosmo since moving to Santa Cruz (don't even get us started on the kids at Petsmart!)

Cosmo not only looked show ring ready with clean crisp lines that flattered his few extra pounds, but he was happy and bouncy and obviously had had a good time.

We were impressed with the initial consultation--Todd went over everything before hand, so we got exactly what we wanted, plus he offered us a few ideas we never would have thought of. I love that the salon is so new and clean--all stainless and glass, and not dirty old crates like some other more cheesy back room groomers (the terrible one on Capitola Road comes to mind!)

If you love your dog--we highly recommend these wonderful groomers and their clean and open and inviting environment. Better than anything we ever found in the bay area!

Dr. Craig Evans is the BEST. He was our vet with Adobe and I am so happy to find him at Soquel. I made the mistake of bargain shopping and almost paid the price of our puppies life.  Dr. Evans has ALWAYS treated our pets as if they belonged to him. I trust him entirely. This is a honest Vet, and one heck of a great person.

BEST DOG GROOMING in Santa Cruz County!! Both Mary and Todd have groomed our dog, and the work is A-1! Their experience, dedication and caring shows. From the top-knotch hand scissoring to the hand grinded (not just sharply cut!) nails, not to mention his happy-go-lucky attitude when picked up, our Bogey has never looked better than when groomed at the Pet Spa at Animal Hospital of Soquel!

Hmmmmm. I used to come here to see Dr. Brennan who was fantastic with my sensitive pooch. She recently retired/left the practice here. The last two visits I've had we've been seen by very young assistant only. Not sure how I feel about it. There seems to have been a 100% turnover in staff - both medical and clerical. Not sure why.

They were really nice today, but kind of looked at me blankly at first when I came in for my appointment. I'll give them one more try. I'd like to know about the new vet(s) who work here. Who are they? Where are they from? Are they good?

I have only had to take two of my animals here before. The first one was my old cat Rocky. Rocky was a stray my grandma had found and adopted, and was just in bad shape. Before he died we took him here to get checked out when she was living with me. Rocky had feline AIDS, so it was very important to be careful with him. The staff here was amazing with Rocky and kept telling us he was a very sweet kitty cat.

I took my dog Filbert here about a year ago when he ended up getting a scratch on his eye. My normal vet could not see me that day, and they are just down the street from where I work so I decided why not. Very professional with my little boy, very helpful and very understanding. He has a big fear of the vet, and a lot of the times will bite or try to attack. The vet who saw him was gentle with him, making sure he was okay with her before doing anything.

About six months ago I got a call from them, which was weird since I hadn't been there in forever. It was just them checking up and asking how Filbert was. I thought this was very professional and a very cool thing to do.

I have taken my dog to several places in Santa Cruz that i would never recommend. The types of places that give poor care for boarding and over medicate to make a buck.

This place however has been nothing but absolutely amazing! I have taken my dog there for five visits and a 10 day boarding all of the above were great experiences with very kind and genuine people.  Not only all of that but i find that their pricing is very good as well. I highly recommend them for anyone's pet.

We had to take our wheezing cat there yesterday, and they saw us (we had never been there before) within 20 minutes of our phone call.  The doctor was VERY good with animals and seemed to truly love her job. The instructions for how to take care of our cat were very clear, and they took everything very seriously (and moved fast!).  The doctor followed up with us to make sure everything was going well, and felt like she genuinely cared about our cat.

If not for the tasteful art of animals on the walls, you would think this was a human hospital.  It was warm, cutting edge, and *clean*.  No funny smells, wide open spaces, and looked like it could handle procedures big and small.  They even have a special entrance for animals that might carry a virus.

Loved it.  I will say, the bill was *much* higher that we expected, and I guess I would have liked the doctor to say, "we are going to take 3 x-rays and they each cost about $150.  Shall we do that and run other possible tests? Or just look for major emergencies?" I also know she wasn't being careless by ordering lots of tests, because she explained everything clearly.  I was just shocked.

I know it is important to try not to worry about cost, but spending a ton of money on a 15 year old cat is hard sometimes.  I should have communicated more clearly about our concern of the total bill before it happened.  Yikes!

I adopted dog over two years ago and struggled to find a good Vet in Santa Cruz.  I tried Adobe, who told me my dog's skin allergy was fleas, and seemed to not care about my dog or me in the least bit.  Then I went to West side. They over charged me, I had to wait 45 minutes every time i saw them even though I always made an appointment, and they tried to rush me into a $1,000 surgery for a bump on my dog's ear, that went away on its own a week later.  So, I continued my search.

The Animal Hospital of Soquel was hands down the best of them all.  The office was large, clean, and professional.  The staff is happy, sweet and helpful.  My naturally very nervous dog was put right at ease with their AMAZING veterinary staff.  The vet was very understanding of my tight budget and was straight forward about what she was doing and the cost.  I love this place so much that I won't take my dog anywhere else.  I now drive from Berkeley to take my dog here.

As a new pet owner, I was not sure where to go to get my cat checked because she was sneezing.  Upon a recommendation of a family member, I made an appointment with the Animal Hospital of Soquel.  The building is brand new, and they have a spa, and if you feel the need, acupuncture for your pet.  The staff is really friendly and everything there is cutting edge.  I must give a shout out to Annika, the most patient vet tech in the world.  She is wonderful with animals.

Nice and modern facility, excellent location, great staff.  We take both of our dogs here with no complaints.  I'm writing this, however, to get the word out about their rehab services.  Brynne is a vet tech who also does canine physical therapy, and this hospital has the only high-tech underwater treadmill within many miles of Santa Cruz.  Our dog was injured, had surgery, and is coming back from a paraplegic state.  Brynne's close obervation, exercizes and her facility are a great asset...

Without a doubt, the kindest staff I have ever encountered that works with animals.  I recently purchased a German shepherd puppy from a breeder that it turned out is selling puppies that are not being taken care of properly.  The puppy became sick 24 hours after taking her home.  I brought her to the Animal Hospital of Soquel to see what was wrong with her.  After running some tests, it turned out the pup had Parvo, a deadly puppy disease.  I left her there to be taken care of, but due to the severity of the virus, the puppy passed away later that night.  The doctor called me from her cell phone that night around 9pm and spent a good amount of time explaining the situation and comforting me.  She then helped explain some actions I could take to report the breeder that sold me the sick puppy.  A week or so later, I received a card from the Animal Hospital of Soquel.  The card had a picture of a German Shepherd on the cover and inside the card was a very kind and comforting letter.  In addition to the letter there was personal message from ALL 8 OF THE EMPLOYEES that played a role in taking care of the puppy during her last few hours of life.  In an era where money equals time, I was shocked to see so much compassion and so much thought from an animal hospital.  This is my first and will probably be my last post on Yelp, but I wanted to make sure i took some time from my day to write this review for this animal hospital, because I am very, very impressed with their staff!  If you are looking for a good animal hospital, this is the place to go.

This office is absolutely fantastic!  I've been bringing my little dog here for about a year and a half now and every experience has been great.  My doc is Dr. Ghiardi and he's so knowledgable and personable.  He really takes his time to answer your questions and explain the best possible solution for your pets problem.  He's gentle, meticulous and slow.  My shy dog lets him do anyhting to her!  He's against over-medicating and is really careful when prescribing certain meds. The other Docs are great too.

The office is brand new, clean, comfortable and the receptionists and techs are very friendly and helpful.  I always get reminder calls : )  Pricing isn't jacked up and seems fair.  They have Saturday hours which is nice for those who work during the week.

I've worked in the animal industry for almost 10 years so I notice everything and I trust Animal Hospital of Soquel with my baby.

When my small dog was still a puppy he got a fox tail up his nose from running aroud the gulch with my roomate while I was at work, so at nine o'clock on a friday night with a sneezing pooch I arrived at this animal hospital totally freaked out. Nobody had seen the foxtail go in, and I wasn't especially thrilled by the fact that the procedure to remove it (and thus, the cost) would be the only way to confirm it's location in my dog's left nostril. Given the risk of infection I knew it wasn't an option to wait it out, so I had to cough up beaucoup bucks to have the emergency procedure done. It was the first time my little friend would be going under anesthesia and I had to sign all these waives acknowledging that because he was so small that they weren't responsible if he stopped breathing while he was out. Needless to say, I was kind of a wreck as I went home to wring my hands and wait for the doctor to call. And call he did at about one in the morning when he'd finished and Miles had woken up. When I got there the doctor gave me a really nice hug, which in some cases might have been weird, but in that moment it was precisely what I needed. In spite of all the money I spent because I couldn't go to my regular vet I feel good about this experience because I could tell that all the staff genuinely cared about my dog and wanted him to be comfortable. That should be the norm in these types of situations, but it isn't. Now I have the foxtail in a specimen jar to remind me what six hundred dollars on a spring friday night accomplished.

FYI, Big changes, to my surprise Dr. Bannerman & Dr. Gherardi are no longer there. My dog & cat will be following them to Adobe Animal Hospital of Soquel down the street.
