Can u put a price on ur lil baby when it gets hit by a car late at night. No you can't.

I was a mess.  My dog got hit by a car and I passed this place a million times.  Heard not so great things about it.  They took Lucy in right away.  Long story short my dog is ok.  They went over all costs with me.  It was a lil more expensive that I thought but well worth it.  They ran every X-ray, test, gave her fluids, antibiotics etc.  they went over everything with me.

Further more they are total animal people, and helped me and my dog.  They are loving kind people.  It's an animal emergency room so obviously it's not gonna be daisies and roses in there.  I can only imagine the things that happen in there, but they are awesome people.

Unfortunately I had to visit this place on the worst day of my life. That said, they made a very unpleasant experience as pleasant as possible.
It was a Friday night and my cat suddenly made a weird noise and hid under the stairs. I took him out and noticed he could move his back legs, he was dragging himself around with his front paws. I sat in a dazed panic for a few minutes, called my regular vets office in Burbank and their message suggested SCAH. To make things worse I was supposed to pick my mom up at LAX in about an hour and a half.
I drove down Ventura in a complete panic, with my sick cat in his carrier and cursed the fact that it was a Friday night and parking on Ventura was a complete nightmare. I drove around again and found they had a parking lot and luckily there was a spot open.
I went inside and was already crying. There was a couple in there with a freakin HUGE dog. The waiting area was small (this was a few years ago now) and when this thing would bark it echoed and scared the crap out of me and my cat. The receptionist said she would take my cat back and have them get started on some tests after I explained what happened. I sat in the waiting room bawling like a total baby, so bad other people started to comfort me. Nice Angelinos.
They finally called me back to the room and told me what was wrong, and that the treatment they could do might or might not work and gently told me it was best to have him put to sleep. I agreed and they let me have as much time alone with him as I wanted to. When I was ready, I called in the dr. who asked if I wanted to be there with him when he did it. I always thought I wouldn't be able to, but when it came down to it I had to be with him in his last moments. I held him as they put him down and then told me he was gone. God I am crying again just writing this.
The Dr. (Cavanaugh I believe) could not have been nicer and more sympathetic. They even sent me a condolence card the next week, it was very nice. So while I would give the experience in general a negative 1 million stars, I give this clinic 5 stars for being as good as possible in a horrible situation.

So my girlfriends cat had a coffee table fall on him and when we pulled him off the little guy was running on his side around the whole room. My girlfriend was terribly out of sorts and freaking out. My father happens to be large/small animal vet in GA for the past 30 years, so needless to say I'm used to seeing hurt or sick animals, it doesn't phase me much. She very badly wanted to take him somewhere, so we found this place around the corner.

They were nice initially and we didn't have to wait.

So they came in and said he has a minor cut on his ear and he is limping on his back right leg. The tech said, let the dr have a look and we'll give you an itemized rec before we do anything.

Note: we are $75 in for an exam to begin with.

Now enters Dr. Morgan Cavanaugh. He says he doesn't know if there is any internal bleeding or fractures. He wanted us to do x rays, pain (morphine based) shot misc medications, and lots of other things ending in a ~$967 estimate.

I was floored, my gf was still hysterical, so we talked or a second, and i phoned my father. He was blown away that they wanted $300+ for an X-ray (going rate for large city vet clinics is ~$200). My father said if he's walking and alert (which he was), that he's probably ok, but make a normal vet appt if you feel like he needs more attention. He also said if we wanted to go for the pain shot, go for it, but $60 for that is very expensive.

Note: we hadn't approved or signed anything on the estimate.

We ask to see him, he's scared (obviously) but walking around and awake. Minor cut behind his ear. The tech tells me he might be loopy from the pain shot....
Wait. What? You gave a him that without ANY approval from us? The tech had a bit of an "oh shit" look on his face, but that didn't stop him from scaring the be Jesus out of my girlfriend, saying things like "if this were your child, would you not pay to make sure he's ok?" I said no, to all this and that I'm not paying for something I didn't authorize. I said we'll be taking him now.

Get to the front desk to settle up. Christopher manning the front desk was very helpful and nice about it all. He deducted the $60 shot from our bill and then the dr came out saying that he advises against this (kept saying in a arrogant voice "that's your prerogative". I replied, "thank you for having a look but these prices are nuts, I get it, your an emergency clinic, but this crazy" dr replied "well, they're not, but whatever that's your prerogative" again this guy is basically arguing with me that his prices aren't high, even for an emergency clinic. Still I said "thank you, but we're leaving."

So the tech brings out our cat while I'm paying the $75. The tech hands the cat to my still hysterical girlfriend and is basically guilt tripping the hell out of her for not using their services. Saying how life threatening this could be, and how the shot he gave him will wear off and he'll be in a lot pain.

Look, emergency clinics are needed and I'm glad they were open and close. But every one of the customers paying for your new Audi out back there Dr. are in a very very delicate state, they're scared and vulnerable. This is NOT the time to guilt trip. It was downright un-ethical.

Our cat is currently fine, purring and wanting to be held.

Another note: On our paper work to take home, it says that we "refused to pay for initial hyrdromorphone shot" Which is bullshit, they did it without our consent, therefore we shouldn't pay for it. But an extra sarcastic "kudos" for lying on paperwork!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. If you do go, have your wits about you, and know what things cost because unfortunately/apparently it is in this clinics best interest to scare you into over paying than practicing honest medicine.

I brought my husky/chow mix here on a Sunday afternoon when everyone else was closed. I always drove by here, but never thought I would ever need to actually bring my dog in. Well, I did. One day he just had a bad limp and was completely depressed. I didn't know what he did to himself or what might have caused the injury and since it's hard to gauge an animals pain (accurately) I wanted to see a doctor. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was zero wait upon walking in (4/5pm on Sunday), however when we left around 6 there were definitely more people.

I was also VERY HAPPY to find that Dr. Sharon Torrisi was the attending Vet when I came in with my pup. She had seen him before at Best Friends Animal hospital, and I was glad to see she remembered him. I explained his condition and instead of immediately going to standard route of, "we need to x-ray him" (which is costly), she was kind enough o give him a thorough physical. She checked all his joints, reflexes, examined his spine and how his neck moved. After doing that of course there was a hefty list of things I "could" do but after explaining that I don't have money for tests that will show me very little, she suggested the most basic of the list, and then advised a pain killer.

I got the pain killer (only 1 of the 3 listed) and out the door I spent $200, which included the $75 office visit. So far my dog has been on bed rest and very little activity and today he is almost as good as new. He's happy, barking and wagging his tail. So glad I went to this E.R. vet. It alleviated me of worry and my dog got something to lessen the pain.

Dr. Torrisi is absolutely the best vet I have ever encountered! She takes her time with you, answers all your questions, doesn't make you feel rushed and understands that not everyone is wealthy enough to afford every test and treatment.  She gives you the straight truth about what is really needed and what fits your budget.  Absolute sweetheart, and I wish she was working at Best Friends still!

Also, what I really appreciated, is that when I took the pain killers home, I saw that they had cut some of the pills in half so that I would not have to do it at home. I really appreciated it because it gets messy when done at home. It's the little things that count!

Saved the lives of multiple pets in my care over the past few years - Doctors Morgan Cavanaugh, Juli White, and Reis in particular.  Most notable was a New Year's Eve-into-New Year's surgery that gave many more months to the pup.

Of course it's gonna cost you some money, don't be surprised to pay medical costs for medical treatment!  The one/two star reviews seem to be hung up about this - sadly as with any health care if you want to provide for your pet it's gonna cost, but that said, their rates are right in line with other Animal emergency places I've been, and nowhere have I found better service.

The doctors even made follow-up calls routinely (no charge) just to make sure everything was taking.

If I am ever again (God forbid) in such a pinch, a quick drive over the hill and AEC will have my pet in good hands.  Rock!

(PS - nobody mentioned the AMAZING cappucino machine in the waiting room... thank you AEC for that!  the only way IIIII survived any of those emergencies!)

This past Sunday, my husband  and I brought our gravely ill cat in to be put to sleep.  She had been very sick for the past week and although we had been unsuccessful in obtaining a diagnosis, we knew that it was most likely something "not fixable" (internal bleeding from an unknown cause) and she was beginning to show signs of pain and suffering.  As you can imagine, we were both just absolutely grief stricken.

It was super early in the morning, maybe around 5:30 or 6:00 a.m., when I called the Animal Emergency Centre.  The gentleman that answered the phone told me to bring her right over, and they would see her immediately.

From the minute we walked through the door (both of us in tears), we were treated with the utmost respect and compassion.  The tech that let us in (I believe the same one I spoke to over the phone) *very gently* took our cat to the back for a quick exam, and in just a couple of short minutes from the time we arrived, we were standing face to face with Dr. Cavanaugh.  I cannot think of enough nice things to say about Dr. Cavanaugh...he immediately put my mind at ease by reassuring me that I was doing the right thing, and didn't try to sell me on any bullshit procedures that were only going to prolong my pets suffering (surgeries, meds, etc.).  Oh, and he made eye contact with me.  EYE CONTACT!!!

We were led to an exam room by a different tech, who explained the procedure and answered all of our questions, and moments later our cat was brought in to us (again *very gently*), already hooked up to the IV catheter that the injections would be administered through.  The speed at which this place deals with emergencies is to be HIGHLY commended!  We were offered some "alone time" with our pet (we declined, as we did not want to prolong her pain any longer).  Dr. Cavanaugh once again reassured us that we were doing the right thing, then administered the injections (can I just add one more *very gently*???).   They give a sedative first (just to the animal...sorry) which I really appreciated and it kicked in INSTANTLY to calm my cat - which in turn helped to calm hubby and I.  The procedure itself was done in mere seconds, and my precious baby drifted peacefully away.  Dr. Cavanaugh didn't rush us out of the room immediately afterwards, nor did he himself leave the room right away.  Instead, the three of us just stood there silently for awhile...sort of a "moment of silence" thing.  I really appreciated that - it meant a lot.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could.  The facilities were spotless, the people are super compassionate, and I really appreciate how *gently* they handled my cat and the situation at hand.

Went here for the first time the other night with my injured dog and having thought this would be a great place when having an emergency because of the other reviews... well, I was wrong!
First off, when I entered, I was overwhelmed by the smell in this place.  It smelled as if an animal had died and it had been rotting for the last few days.  Well I "choked" it up and signed in.
After waiting for over 30 mins and someone who came in after us getting their animal before us, my dog was finally paid attention to.
The other thing I found very strange was when they did come out to take him in to look at him, I asked if I should come along and they were very strong about me waiting in the lobby.  Most of us considered pets our kids, and I would never want my kid to go alone with a stranger.  So shame on me for not insisting that I go with him.

I will be looking at other places for the next time and emergency arises after my vets regular hours.

FYI: my dog is doing just fine.  Thank God!

PS: I still can't get that smell out of my nose.  ;-/

My 20 year-old cat was throwing up blood at about 12AM on July 24th so I took her in. Dr. Gillen was kind and not over zealous with diagnostic tests. My cat had numerous ongoing issues including hyperthyroid and compromised kidneys. The treatment she received allowed her to make it through the night without any more vomiting, but she continued to refuse to eat and seemed to be disoriented. Considering her age I felt that I had to make some difficult decisions as to how to proceed as I wanted to make sure that she was not suffering. I did not want to put her through any unnecessary treatment. Twenty years is quite old and after a recent experience with my other cat who went through extensive treatment including a feeding tube, I was determined that this kitty would not be subjected to anything like that.

I called Animal Emergency Centre around noon on July 24th, 2011 and asked to speak to a vet. (I had just left at about 3AM that morning). I was put on hold for several minutes and when the clerk came back on she asked what my question was. I said that I wanted to discuss options with the vet. I was put on hold again and the clerk came back and said that the vet would not discuss options with me on the phone; I would have to bring my cat back in for another exam. It was really frustrating because after spending over $500 just a few hours earlier, I don't think that it was too much to ask for an opinion as to whether I should euthanize my poor cat and if that was a service that they offered.

So, while I found Dr. Gillen patient and helpful as well as all of the other staff members that night, the response I received during the day from the vet working at that time was lacking compassion at best and made a very difficult time for me even more difficult.

I brought in my beloved dog Daisy the other night because she had gotten in a fight with one of my other dogs. As you can imagine i was freaking out and scared because she had some pretty big cuts on her.

It was really late at night and luckily i found this place! The staff was so nice about everything and made sure my pet was comfortable. She was then taken to the back where they gave her some injections and clipped and cleaned her wounds.

I was put in a room with the doctor and she explained what they were going to do. As i watched the staff handle the other patients, i knew my Daisy was in good hands. YES it did cost me some $$ but what do you expect? It's an emergency hospital.

It was worth every cent because when I picked up Daisy she was all stitched up and good as new. :) If you care about your pets well being (&god forbid) you have an emergency situation, I HIGHLY recommend you go here!

I trust them with my babies.  Over the past 6 years, I've brought 3 cats here for different emergencies. Whether it was a sudden onset of kidney trouble, out of control vomiting and diarrhea or a swallowed toy, they've been professional and kind.  I'm sure that working in an E.R. takes a special temperment, dealing with all of us freaked out pet owners. Sometimes the desk staff are not all warm and fuzzy, but they're on top of the important stuff (they know who and where my cat is, what his status is, etc). The doctors have been nothing short of amazing.  My toy-eating cat had been mis-diagnosed with food-related illness by another vet and wasn't getting better, couldn't even keep down water. I brought him to AEC late that night and they had him correctly diagnosed in 5 minutes. They probably saved his life.  E.R.s are never cheap, but this place is worth every penny.

If you're in an emergency situation RIGHT NOW...this is a great local clinic, though only open nights and weekends. Now get thine pet in the car STAT and DRIVE!!

But if you have a moment for an anecdote...read on. Picture this: Saturday night, 10:30 PM. I'd just returned from a trip, and THE MAN and I settled in to watch the dregs of the TiVo and mellow out. Moments into "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," our 3 year old vizsla Drake suddenly squealed and started shaking his head, trying to get something out of his mouth. Fearing the worst - he'd choked on a cow hoof or something- we sprung into action. A quick inspection revealed he'd gotten one of his sliced cow marrow bones crammed around his lower jaw (clearly fate is telling us not to watch trash TV). We find out later that this is apparently NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE....

After unsuccessfully trying to dislodge said marrow bone for about 10 minutes, amidst loud squeals and the body torquing of a 60 pound vizsla, we packed the dog in the car to let the professionals handle the animal equivalent of "marble jammed up nose."

The Animal Emergency Center was fairly hopping for 11PM (at this point) on a Saturday night, but the receptionists and techs were SUPER kind and professional (it should be noted they only began giggling AFTER we totally broke out laughing over our dorky dog's silly mishap) and immediately took our dog into the back. The staff expertly triaged and managed his care, appropriately handling the sicker animals first but moving as efficiently as possible with Drake, and we were kept very much up to speed on our darling furball's treatment.

Although ultimately it took heavy IV sedation and a loud bone saw (natch) to get the darn thing off, the vet did a great job with the carpentry work and sent us home before midnight with a bottle of antibiotics and a slightly woozy - but hopefully the wiser - hound.

Note that Drake and his sister have both been seen here before; the same vet who treated Drake that night, a guy who seems to take his workouts quite seriously, also treated him when he was a puppy. All experiences have been high quality.

It's 9pm on a Friday night, you find your 17 pound furry friend has just eaten an entire chocolate bar - left out by a negligent house guest - filled with enough medical marijuana to get a brontosaurus stoned. What do you do?

1st - Have a very minor freak out. 2nd - Go straight to Emergency Animal Center.

I've only had Wulph for 7 months and he's never needed any emergency care until this weekend. While he didn't show any signs of inebriation or a massive sugar high, I knew too much of a good human thing would be very bad for my little dude.

The staff were amazing! They knew exactly what to do. Apparently drug experimenting canine chocoholics aren't that uncommon. Dr. Juli White had better bedside manner then most human doctors. Neither she nor the staff made my roommate and I feel like irresponsible delinquents (we really aren't).

Wulph ended up being just fine - a little wobbly but smiling the next day. Except he kept asking for doritos. And the house guest was very kind to have picked up the rather hefty medical tab.

I have taken my pets here four times and I was always on a budget and they really worked with me.  The staff is great and both Dr. Cavanaugh and Dr. White have seen my pets a couple of times.  I started going here even though it is a bit far because they were the only ER vet hospital that was not rude to me when I called them.  The distance is well worth the great care and lack of a guilt trip for not having thousands of dollars to treat my pets.  I do as much preventative care as I can and then pray and use my care credit card when I am in a pinch.

They also gave me  a discount when I was 100 dollars short of the 800 dollar bill.  So thank you Animal Emergency Center.

I have experience only with Dr. Juli White, and she's amazing.  Twice I've had to spend late nights here with both my kitties, and she's brought both of them back to stellar health while being sensitive to me and professional.

The first time, my chronically sick cat (Kitty 1) would, yet again, not eat or drink.  I brought her in, and after a thorough battery of tests, turns out she had a hairball stuck in her gut that she couldn't pass.  After identifying the problem, they operated to remove the hairball, sewed her up and discharged her to my normal vet (they are closed weekdays until 6pm, being an emergency place only).  She recovered very well, and is back to normal.

Just recently, Kitty 2 was victimized by Kitty 1, attacked and bitten.  A wound that I thought was healing well turned out to be deeper than I thought, and eventually abscessed and ruptured on Friday night.  Back to AEC we went.  Luckily, we again had Dr. Juli White, and she came in explaining everything to us, with the sutures and the drainage, yadda yadda yadda.  Kitty 2 is bound to recover well, once the cone, tube and stitches are removed.

Point being, I feel like I was treated very well, and both my cats have benefited greatly from having gone here during emergencies (as opposed to waiting till normal hours to see my vet).  They have the facilities and skill to do whatever emergency procedures are necessary, and are there when you just can't wait until the morning.

As for price:  for whoever compared their prices to their normal vets - of course they're going to be more expensive!!! they're an emergency center!  they work the shittiest hours and have highly trained staff for emergency procedures!  they're not just doing physicals all day - they're doing much more complex, unpleasant and shitty work.

As for the wait:  for whoever commented on the wait being long - of course you're likely to wait!  it's an emergency room, with triage and everything.  if something comes in that trumps your emergency - sorry, you're gonna wait.  i'd want them to treat me first if i came in with an animal bleeding profusely, for example, even if that means i'll wait another 20-30 minutes now.  that's how emergency centers work.

all in all, i will definitely go there again if i have to, and dr. juil white has saved both my girls thus far.

It's hard to review an emergency center. I was definitely in an emergency situation with a deep cut on my dog's leg and blood everywhere. I'm certified in pet first aid so I knew what to do, but I also knew I needed to get my dog to a hospital QUICK and this was the only place around. When you are in an emergency there is NO TIME TO DO HOMEWORK. The techs and the doctor (Campbell) were fantastic and treated my dog (very bad cut, severed ligaments requiring surgery) top-notch, but of course I spent $. Luckily I have pet insurance and will do some research of after-hours hospitals to go to (I hope I never have to again.) An animal hospital really is an awful place to be. I don't know if it would have cost less at my vet, because my dog's leg definitely could not have waited. They are open overnights, weekends, and holidays, and it was 7:30 when we got there.

wow, I definitely should have read the reviews first. My poor kitten had a little bit of swelling on his eye it had been 2 days like this, I brought him here since it was after hours (9pm) and it was right down the street from me.  While in the waiting room, the receptionist suggested the vet, Dr Reis, wanted to take my kitten to the back and do a stain test in my kittens eye. Whoa wait a minute, you don't even offer to bring me back first so I can talk to the vet and so the vet can get a good look at my kitten first??  I said no I want to go back with him. The receptionist put us in a room, Dr Reis came in as I was telling her my concerns it seems she was "bothered" and wasn't even listening. She was in the room with me and my kitten for less than minute, walking out the door while i'm trying to explain to her how long it's been swollen...etc, she says shes going to do a stain in his eye, well according to her the test came negative, she just charged me for $70 office visit, $70 stain test and $23 for tobramycin drops. WOW $163 and guess what everyone? The next morning my kitten's eye was EXTREMELY swollen shut, swollen and red from his eye to his ear, I took him first thing in the morning to my regular vet, only for my vet to let me know my kitten was not only prescribed the wrong drops but he was having an extremely bad reaction to the WRONG drops. My vet  came in the room and explained EVERYTHING with me, LISTENED to my concerns, actually LOOKED at his eye, and then prescribed him the right meds. He's now been on amoxicillin antibiotic  and Idoxuridine eye drops, he is doing MUCH better now.
$163 bucks in the garbage from this place, EVERYONE please do NOT go to this Animal Emergency Center.
Better Business Bureau is where this place is getting reported if it hasn't already.

Our regular vet suggested that we take our very ill dog with lupus to the Animal Emergency Center for a blood transfusion in the evening. The female doctor informed us in the morning that our dog should be put down. So we went in the back of the clinic where our dog was to take him home to be euthanized by our normal vet.  While we were back there, there was a beagle that kept barking from maybe being in pain or was maybe just scared. Poor thing. I couldn't believe what the female doctor did, she kept kicking the beagle's cage and screaming at him to shut up. All the animals there were already traumatized by being in an emergency clinic. I hope that doctor gets treated like that someday when she's scared or in pain in an emergency room. Good service. Open during the wee hours of the night. I had to take my dog here because he was very ill and my vet's office was closed. The doctor's at the hospital are great, the rest of staff was ok, but not the friendliest.

I recently had to put my pet rat down and I took her to Animal Emergency Center. I'm so glad I did, because they were SO nice, accommodating, and professional.  I had a really difficult time finding a vet that would let me be in the room with her while she went- I tried calling over 15 different vets and they all said no!  Apparently most vets don't think rats count as real pets or something... Anyways, Animal Emergency were the only ones who would let me be in the room and hold my girl while she went. They were fantastic and I would highly recommend them to everyone!

This place was great! I had to take my cat this weekend cause she couldnt walk and was howling in pain. My regular vet had already closed for the weekend and I had the business card for this place in my wallet. I got my cat in her carrier and headed over. I only waited about 10 minutes to see the doctor. The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I did end up being there for 3 hours, but there were far more urgent emergencies for the doctors to attend to, which i completely understood. And it did put a hefty dent in my wallet, but that's what you get in an emergency. Turns out my cat has a nasty case of Athritis. They prescribed rest and pain meds and just a few days later she is almost back to normal. The hospital even called to check-in on my cat. That was very thoughful. I would go back again in an emergency, but hopefully I won't have to.

Last weekend our little feline Tabitha had to check into the AEC.  We just found out she has kidney disease.  Our vet had us take her to the hospital so she could continue her fluids and have constant supervision.  The entire staff was wonderful, especially Dr. Reis.  She told us ahead of time when she'd be calling  to give us updates and never let us down.  They were also good about letting us come anytime to visit our girl.  We'd just call ahead to make sure they weren't too busy with emergencies and when we arrived they'd have a room set up for us and bring her in for a visit.  The final bill was exactly what they estimated with no surprises.  They made a stressful situation easy to handle.  For that we are grateful.

My Dog has been sick for a couple of days and I have no idea what is wrong with her. I brought her here after 2 days of her crying and not eating. I had been here once before when she slipped a disc, I had been attended by a different doctor that was super nice she immediately got my dog feeling better. This time unfortunately I got a snotty female doctor who kept giving me attitude when I asked her questions about my dogs condition. I was already freaking out so I wasn't thinking straight and her giving me attitude didn't help. I waited for about 20 minutes before I got helped and I was there for about an hour and a half so they could tell me they didn't know what was wrong they gave her some amoxicillan and sent us home with a $700 bill. She is still not drinking water and is very fussy but I am going to wait until Monday to take her to my regular vet where they know what they are doing.

Seriously? Did I get the people from hell?! They completely were rude from the start like whatevering it pretty much. My baby was in pain so I stayed because I didn't know of any other place to take her late at night. I was waiting for 10 minutes, my baby looked so miserable, then they took us to the room for her. LITERALLY another 20 minutes. Then they took her to the back LITERALLY did nothing while she was there for another 15 minutes. I know emergency rooms take a while. So then they said well we are waiting for the vet, apparently her being in the back she was sitting alone. :( So while we waited we saw the veternarian TALKING TO a patients mommy for 10 minutes, yes I counted it wasn't anything concering their pet or even veternarian related. It was about personal life etc. While my little girl is over here in pain she is just yacking her mouth off! They just kept being EXTREMELY rude to us, I was like oh my this is so unprofessional. When I was leaving I saw someone come in, they said oh let me take your dog and we'll have you right in. I'm like UHH what? We didn't even get that kind of service! Is it that some people are more important? Racism I swear. When I came in we were like hello, they acted liked I wasn't there for a good two minutes. Then said yes? I was like what the heck! This place my God, there is an emergency place in eagle rock, go there before you striked with cruel people.

Unless you need xrays asap that day for a matter of life and death. WAIT to see your vet because they'll charge you less than half of what these people ask for.

Reasonable pricing?! Check ups are LESS THAN HALF of what these people charge at my vet. This place the receptionists are rude, the veternarian doesn't care at all unless your probably wearing armani, diamonds and dior or something.

These folks have ranged from mediocre at best, to a nightmare at worst, for the twenty-five plus years I have been taking my pets there.  Why do I continue to take my pets there, given how awful they are?  When it is Sunday afternoon, or Midnight on Tuesday and you have a medical emergency, there's really not much choice.  My latest horror story with them was overthe 4th of July weekend.  The pet-sitter phoned the one land line where I was staying up in the mountains, to tell me that my five-pound Yorkie had fallen down some steps at home and hit his head on a tile floor, and that there was blood coming out of his mouth.  I asked her to take him to the Emergency Center right away.  I phoned them to let them know that the dog was on the way, and to help them to locate my file, so that the visit would go smoothly.  A few minutes later, they phoned me to ask for my fax number, so they could get written credit card authorization from me.  I reminded them that I had already told them that I was in the mountains where there is no fax machine.  They told me to drive someplace to find one and to give them my cell number.  I told them that there is no cell reception at 6000 feet.  "I use SPRINT, and I get cell reception in the mountains", was the reply I got.  Was there ONE WORD about my tiny dog's condition?  NO, there was not.  "How is the dog?", I asked. I was told that the dog "appears stable".  In fact, the dog was still in the waiting room with the sitter, so there was no news on the pup's condition, but time to argue with me about cell phone reception.  I have taken pets there for more than two decades, during which time I have lived in the same house, have had the same telephone number, and the same job.  Couldn't they just take the credit card number from me this one time?  NO, they could not.  Don't get me wrong.  I know they are not a charity.  They are a business, but for heaven's sake, I am a known entity to them.  The dog-sitter paid the bill, and I later reimbursed her.  What if she couldn't afford to pay the bill?  What would have happened to my dog? Years ago, at about 11:00 pm, during a TORRENTIAL rain storm, I found an old cocker spaniel, lying in the street near my house.  She was near death, and I took her there.  I asked if they would treat her while I tried to locate the owner.  Not without money, and not without a signed "hold harmless" agreement, in case the dog died while I was "directing" the treatment.  I found the owner within a day, and I never saw a more moving reunion in my lifetime when she met me there to claim her dog.  It was worth the THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS I spent.  The owner of the old gal later reimbursed me.  They are just awful, unpleasant, and rude.  Stay away of you can, but remember that they are the only game in town in the wee small hours of the morning, and when you know you're the only game in town, there's no motivation to improve your service.  Incidentally, I called SPRINT.  They do not have cell reception in Frazier Park.
