Ok, if you're taking your pet here, it's really not under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately for our pet family, we were at one time "frequent flyers" (during mostlly the puppy years). It's expensive, I won't mince words on this. BUT, and it's a BIG but, I really felt that even through basically EMERGENCY care, my pet and I received individualized care. On the other hand, there aren't many after-business-hours and weekends facilities. I'd prioritize this one .. . .

Every doctor here is awesome except Dr. Anthony Coronado. If he is on duty, I would definitely go elsewhere. He couldn't get beyond the fact that my 15 year old cat who has lived his whole life indoors wasn't immunized. Very close minded. This was the first time this was ever an issue.

This place is more concerned with money than making your pet well. Twice I've brought in a sick cat, always the same diagnosis "We'd love to help, but the cat will need to stay overnight on oxygen for $1000 and then there's an expensive battery of tests before we might even know if they could be treated." Skip it, keep your animal comfortable and take them to a real vet in the morning, where they care about the animals and not how much money they can make keeping them overnight.

Meet the Business Owner: Matt T.
Dr. Matt H. Tompkins is co-founder and managing partner of Animal Emergency and Treatment Centers (AETC) in Chicago and Grayslake, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine program in 1993.
Dr. Tompkins purchased his first veterinary practice (an after-hours emergency clinic) in the spring of 1994 and has since made an entrepreneurial career in the field of veterinary emergency and specialty medicine. He has spearheaded numerous start ups, projects, expansions, and acquisitions over the last 15 years, culminating with Chicago's first 24 hour emergency and specialty hospital, due to open in September 2009.
Dr. Tompkins had a distinguished 22 year career as a Cavalry and Infantry officer in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He was nominated for the prestigious General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award as a lieutenant in the Iowa Army National Guar
