Review from Jennifer E.
Norfolk, VA
I have pets of my own and have been active in animal welfare in TIdewater for almost a decade now, and love working with this practice! A few of my foster dogs have been pretty bad off (heart worm, malnourishment, horrible skin conditions, behavior problems that go hand in hand with neglect, etc), and I really appreciate that Dr. Silverstone and his staff take extra time to make them (and me!) comfortable before starting the poking and prodding part of the appointment. For the many dogs we've taken to them, the care is well above par, and this is one of the practices I always recommend to people new to the area. I really like that I'm supporting a veteran owned practice, who has experience in research and supports local charities.
Check it out - you and your best friend will be glad you did. -
Review from Brandi K.

Prescribed wrong medication on multiple occasions. Took my english bulldog in with red circle lesions on his tummy. Told the doctor before examination that I thought it was ringworm. Dr. Silverstone stated that he didn't think ringworm look like that and said it looked like a bacterial skin infection. I am not a vet so I was convinced that the Dr. was right. Then, instead of recommending bacterial tests, Dr. Silverstone gave my husband and I a printout of all the tests that could be done and asked us to select the ones we wanted to do. We chose the bacterial test thinking the Dr. knows more about this kind of stuff than we do. Tests came back negative but was prescribed an antibacterial anyway. We did numerous tests. So we moved to the fungus (ringworm) test and came back neg. from the Dr's lab but positive from an outside lab. So 4 visits and $600 in tests later, and we have to pay $78 for the medication for the ringworm. My husband called Dr. Silverstone so discuss how we were very unhappy about the whole situation and the Dr. stated that he gave us the option of which tests to do. I would pay anything to treat one of my family, but having my dog take the wrong medicines, having a veterinarian who is not confident or decisive is the worst. And every time you step in his office, be prepared to pay $50 for nothing. If you love your pets, take them to someone who also cares. Our dogs are our children and we will not be going back the Dr. Silverstone or the Animal Care Clinic of Holland Roads!
