Birds, puppies, bunnies, kittens, fish, reptiles and hamsters, Animal Atlanta has quite the selection of animals and accessories.  This family run business has specialized in animals for the past sixteen years.  I went to the store last week and they had so many adorable Shih Tzu's, Pomeranians, mini Dachshunds and Chihuahuas.  There were also numerous bird species. They work with local breeders and pricing is as follows and is subject to change:

    Birds:  $75 to $1800
Puppies: $400 to $700, sometimes $199 on sale
    Reptiles: $10 to $150

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.  I might go back and get a Pomeranian or Shih Tzu puppy because they were so cute. Of course, like every other pet store the moment you walk in it smells like animals, but if you stay long enough you'll get used to the smell.  For hours and information and additional pricing go to http://www.animalatlan....

Actually there are other place's that will give a store credit for feeder rats. And the price of the rat is not the issue, especially when your feeder rats are only a dollar or two cheaper than other's. It is the simple fact that I was told by one of your employees that your store will give credit on feeder rats, and that yes you prefer them to be alive however if the snake does not eat and the rat dies that you would still give credit. And yes, once before I had brought in a feeder rat that had died (no the snake didn't kill the rat, it died from the stun given to the rat before given to the snake), and one of your employees gave me store credit. Then the second time this happened (and we are talking over the span of 2 years), I was told by a different employee that it was not policy. So if you want to call me a Liar go ahead. For I know for a Fact that I was given store credit for a dead feeder rat. If you are still going to stick to your no dead feeder rat policy then maybe you should have it posted for your customers, and ensure that all employees adhere to the policy. If this is something that was changed during business then it needs to be told to customers.
But instead of dealing with this issue as an uphold businessman that you so claim to be, you immediately accused me of lying and becoming aggressive. The issue could have been handled differently, more effectively, and without treating a customer with disgrace.
I did not travel out of my way to your store just for the prices of your pets or the accessories. Matter of fact I have found through research that your prices are equal to competitors. I came to your business for the fact that it is family owned and the employees are knowledgeable in the animals they deal with. However, at other stores when a customer complains or disagrees with anything, they are not treated with disrespect.
As for a moral backbone, I believe you have no room to talk. For you would not have retaliated in the manner as you have. I have a complaint and I disagree with your store, that does not mean I am morally incompetent.
I do not care that you didn't care that I was a loyal customer and you do not value my business. For I have moved on and do not care for your business any longer. I will continue to defend what I know is to be true. And I only hope that other's do not find out how you treat unsatisfied customers, as you have done to me. I hope this incident will become a learning tool on how to handle disruptions.

I recently bought a new kitten from these people, although I have been browsing there for months since I used to live down the street.  The staff there is always nice and are very helpful even if you just want to come in there and look at the puppies all day :)

I purchased my kitten Stu here about a month ago and I am pretty happy with the way things went.  Their prices are very good too, at least for felines, less than what I would have paid if I had adopted or even gone to the Humane Society.  I recieved a free vet visit and a huge bag of premium cat food.

At Stu's vet visit, the doctor told me he was very healthy and the staff was even commenting on how well socialized he was (I picked a good one!).  There was some wetness around the tear ducts but he said that could be due to the bleach mixture Animal Atlanta uses to clean the cat and dog cages (it can irritate the eyes, but they need to do it for sanitation purposes).

When I get ready for a new puppy I am sure this is one of the places I'll be visiting first.  The store itself is rather small and noisy and you MIGHT get attacked by the parrot or the 200lb tortoise walking around, but other than that, a cool place indeed.

This place is like a mini zoo, but if you're an animal lover, you won't mind the mess or smell or minor chaos everywhere you turn! I stopped by here to purchase fish and a fish tank, but unfortunately, they did not have any. Well, they had some fish tank equipment, but not too many fish (in fact, quite a few were dead....hmm). My guess is that they must've started out with fish, but branched out into other animals because they have a very big selection of dogs, birds, reptiles, and small animals. I am thinking about coming back here to get a rabbit - they're adorable and they have quite a few to choose from. The people here are friendly and eager to help. I'd say this is a great place to bring your kids; don't take them to a big chain store to see animals, bring them here! They even have a tortoise on the loose...

Specialties

Ours is an old-fashioned, family run pet store dedicated to providing healthy, happy pets and everything they need. We've been helping people and pets for 20 years and are still going strong.

We cater to the needs of our customers and their pets because YOU are the reason we are here and we appreciate that. Our staff is well trained in how to properly assist our customers by answering questions in detail, assembling products for you, and carrying your heavy packages to your car. (We will not accept tips for this since that is the way service was meant to be.)

We carry a wide array of pets including puppies, kittens, hand-fed exotic birds, bunnies, hamsters, ferrets, fish, and reptiles. And, of course, we have all the supplies needed to keep your pet at its best. If you need something that we don't have in stock we will be more than happy to special order it for you. This also extends to finding that perfect pet for you!

History

Established in 1990

Twenty years ago, Victor D'Avanzo, his son John, and John's wife Michelle were searching for a more meaningful way to make a living. Vic and Michelle had already owned other businesses and John was a CPA.  Having always been animal lovers, the three decided to build on that passion for pets. After years of preparation and training to become experts in all things animal care, the family proudly opened the doors of Animal Atlanta.

Meet the Business Owner: John D.

I have owned and operated my own independent Pet Store for over 22 years, C.P.A., and still married to my High School Sweetheart for over 31 years.  We work hard to deal with local, reputable breeders of puppies and kittens and hand raise all of our pet Birds which total over 300.  We feed and recommend Blackwood dog and cat food because we think it is the best and most economic food available today.  We are happy to be in Woodstock and cannot wait for you to come visit us !
