All my first hand experience with AniA is modeling for them. The first time I went to the store to be fitted for a dress for a shoot.  The gal who helped me was darling, helpful and comfortable to be around.  The dresses were outrageously beautiful and she knew just how to piece the accessories.

My more recent experience was actually at a fashion show were their dresses were being used.  More high quality gowns and the winner of their designer scholarship (or something like it) Karina was there to make up a model in her design and do her makeup.  Though she's of course not an employee, even right down to their selected student designer-she was a pleasure to be around and work with, as well as a great talent.  I feel that reflects on AniA as well, they have a great eye for excellence!

Who isn't excited to go wedding dress shopping? When I saw the list of designers sold at AniA, I couldn't wait to get in the store and try stuff on. The best part was...they had a lot of dresses that where in my price range (which was a pretty middle of the road range - I had money to spend, but I wasn't going to drop an excessive amount of money either).

First things first, I went to AniA to try dresses on TWO different occasions. My first reaction when I walked in was - this place wasn't too impressive looking from the inside. Decoration is incredibly outdated, dressing rooms are practically on top of each other and the consultants run around not wearing shoes. I know someone will get on and say "they don't wear shoes so they don't rip the sample dresses". So tell my why every other bridal store I've been to (A LOT by the way) had consultants wearing shoes? The fact is...if you are trying to persuade people to buying a dress for a few thousand dollars, you'd think you'd want to exemplify elegance and a generally high-end feel. Clearly this store doesn't agree.

My consultant was a red-head, I think her name was Rachel. During my first visit, she was great. Really bubbly and outgoing and was pulling me pretty decent dresses. I didn't try anything I loved-had-to-have-it on my first visit, so when I found out they had a trunk show a few weeks later featuring a dress I was dying to try on - I went back.

Rachel was my consultant again (obviously) and after a few dresses, it was clear I wasn't going to be buying anything. I just wasn't getting the right vibe. I kept giving Rachel clear instruction on what I did and did not like and let's put it this way - everything she brought wasn't even close to what I was asking for. It got to the point where she was blatantly ignoring me and telling me that if I didn't raise my budget by a few more THOUSAND dollars, I wouldn't find what I was looking for.

Needless to say, I wasn't impressed with AniA at all. And honestly, I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to shop there. Unless of course, you want your sales consultant to get bored with you and tell you that you must go above your budget to get a decent dress.

I had a fantastic experience at AniA and I feel bad that there have been a few other Yelpers with such a bad experience at this store! Reading through, it sounds like it was the same culprit (barefoot while eating) and hopefully the store has amended this!

Anyways, back to my great time here. This was my first stop in looking for my dress and I'm glad it was. My mother and I had made an appointment for early in the day on a Saturday. We were offered water, tea, coffee and champagne (I took the champagne, obvi. I mean, it's free. And it's champagne). The attendant (Rachel C) introduced herself and listened to my expectations of my dress. Knowing that this was my first stop in trying on dresses, she suggests I try on various styles: sophisticated and sleek; vintage beaded/lace; princessy ball gown, layers of toile; corseted, mermaid; etc. So from there, we narrowed down the style I liked and then we tried on a few different dresses from those styles within qualifiers (budget, strapless, etc). It was such an interesting experience- going in, I thought I was going to be one style and I ended up with a completely different style dress. I'm glad I was 'introduced' to wedding dresses in this method b/c I probably would have never found MY dress!

My mother and I had a few other appointments lined up that day. The next place treated us terribly for showing up to our appointment 20-15 minutes early and so we just skipped out on the full appointment. The next place was nice (I had actually gotten a bridesmaid dress from there about a year ago) and they had the same dress that I fell in love with at Ania (for cheaper!). The reason why we went with Ania is because this store was so far out of the way, for fittings etc, it just wouldn't be convenient, also, we loved Rachel and Ania so much, we wanted to give the business to them.

Rachel C was fantastic. She made me feel so comfortable and at ease. We left without buying anything and explained to her up front that we have a few other appointments that day at other stores and she completely understood, no pressure to buy today, but keep them in mind, etc. It was her easy going & friendly attitude that brought us back to buy the dress.

I've gone back since to show off the dress to a few friends and b/c my dress came in so I needed to try that on. Rachel was there one of the times and was just as pleasant as I remembered. Also, the other times I've been back (w/o an appointment) the ladies were very nice and totally understood that I just wanted to try on that dress and show it off! (kind of an odd request, probably)

So thanks, Ania, you've made this component of my wedding planning that much easier.

I had a great experience at Ania's, I actually went twice and tried on completely different dresses the second time (only 2 months apart)!  Although I did not end up finding "the dress" there I was super close and debating between 2.  They were incredibly helpful, had a great selection, I never felt pressured.  Highly recommended.

I made a mistake.  I thought, hey this is the only time I am ever going to get to try on wedding dresses, I should go to Divine Designs.  Full well knowing that I could not purchase a dress at this expensive dress shop.  Yes I know it sounds like the act of a crazy person, but I thought to myself, self, you are reasonable, you won't fall in love with any expensive gowns.
Well as could easily be predicted by any sane person- I was wrong.  I tried on a lace Monique Lhuillier, and I felt like I had met the dress I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.  Then I looked at the tag.

I then made my second mistake.  I thought to myself, self, we can find a dress just like this without the designer name in my price range.  After months of looking nothing came even close.  The $45 prom dresses other stores wanted $1000 for were not cutting it.

I found this store, and was helped by a younger gal named Megan (the youngness thing made me nervous at first, but she was best).  I found designers more in my price range, not too cheap, not too expensive.  This was a quality store with the right selection.  I came out with the dress of my dreams ($2000 less than the one at Divine Designs). If I had the means, I would have been very happy at the first store, don't get me wrong they were very nice.  But I was so relieved to see that there was a store in the Portland area that could work for me.

I would ALSO give them a NEGATIVE star if I could.!!  I have been to about a dozen bridal boutiques in the last few months, and this was hands-down the worst service I've ever seen.
I came in during the middle of the day (no, they weren't about to close!) and was greeted by......no one.  There were two associates that looked at me when I came in, didn't say ANYTHING, then went back to reading their magazines.  I actually said hi to them, and asked how they were doing (because it was so awkward, I had to say SOMETHING!).  One of them said, "Fine???" and looked away again.  Like I was bothering her by talking to her!!
Anyway, I went around the store looking at dresses and other items, while also being IGNORED by the other two associates working that day.  I was in the store for about 20 minutes, without ANYONE SPEAKING TO ME AT ALL!  Who does that???
By the time I left, there were 4 girls at the front desk, standing around gossiping, and yup...no word when I left either.
I was actually going in to set up an appointment to try on dresses for myself and my whole wedding party.....looks like I'll be going somewhere where they actually CARE about their customers!  Way too many bridal stores in this area to put up with snooty, horrible service.

The woman who assisted our party was disgusting, rude and abraisive.  She greeted us barefoot with a mouth full of food.  Then, she ordered our group to not look at any dresses, and demanded that my friend only try on dresses that she (the clerk) picked out.  Check out Silver Lining or English Dept. if you are looking for a classy and fashionable bridal experience.  Go to Ania if you want Tonya Harding's dumpy cousin to assist you in buying your dress.

Rude and snooty. We were told there wasn't enough time for my friend to try on even one dress because we hadn't made an appointment ahead of time and the store was "about to close." It was 45 minutes away from closing and there were 3 open rooms... When my friend seemed like she was about frustrated to the point of tears I talked to the manager and, though she seemed put out, she let us try on a dress. I have no idea if they have good stuff because the reception was so chilly we had no desire to make an appointment and go back another day. Bleh. Skip it.

I had to write another review for Ania's because they literally saved my wedding day.  Here's my story!
After I went there the first time, early this summer, we decided to move up our wedding date, and I realized I wouldnt' be able to order a dress to have it here in time.  (My first mistake, since Ania's told me that yes they could have it in time after all if I had just checked!) I just thought there would be no way to have a dress ready in that amount of time, so I had a dressmaker make a bridal gown for me.  Well, the final fitting was 1 week before my September wedding, and of course, it wasn't right. At all.  The seams were rippling, it had nothing of the smooth polish and crispness that I wanted - I didn't feel BEAUTIFUL!  In my tears and panic, I called Ania's to see if there was anything they could fit me into in a week!  Rachel was my lifesaver - she had me come down to the shop, had me fitted into my DREAM GOWN, a sample size and they even cleareanced the sample size down for me so I could afford to have it!!!!  They cleaned it, gave me 3 fittings before the wedding day to make sure it was aboslutely perfect, and Rachel HAND DELIVERED it to my hotel the day of my wedding to make sure it was perfect. I can't say enough about them - these ladies go above and beyond to really care about you and your nerves before your wedding day.  Thank God I went to Ania Bridal.  I wish I could post pictures - they made my day perfect!!!!! I love you guys!!!

My friend came here to find her wedding dress, and as her Matron of Honor (I like to say it like a robot--it doesn't sound so, well, matronly), I went with her.

Not only does the boutique serve complimentary champagne (any excuse to drink bubbly in the morning without giving me that "alkie" label is fine by me!), but their service is exceptional. After visiting a few other bridal boutiques with my friend, nothing compares to Ania.

Karen helped us throughout our search, and suggested the gorgeous Jim Hjelm dress that my friend chose to wear on her wedding day. Karen  was super patient, enthusiastic, and not pushy whatsoever.

Be sure to make an appointment--when I first started shopping with the bride I scoffed at the whole appointment thing (I had a low-key, destination wedding), but then I realized appointments are necessary to get the care and attention needed to find such an important gown.

We came back to find bridesmaid dresses--and found the best one that was a perfect echo of the wedding dress...only to find out the vendor will not make the color combination the bride wanted (and it was a simple matter of reversing a reversible fabric). This was not the boutique's fault, and they were fantastic with trying to help us find a second dress.

If I'm ever in another wedding, or if hubby and I decide to have a redux wedding on a larger scale, Ania will be the first place I'll go/recommend.

They had a large dress selection, but I found it annoying how everything is covered in a big heavy clear garment bag. It's difficult to really see the dress without pulling it out of the bag.

Expect to spend at least over 2k on a dress and don't bother coming into the store if you are larger than a size 12. The selection is very limited.

Service was fine, just set an appointment so you get to try on more dresses.  They really tried hard to find me a dress, but I just didn't see one I loved enough to buy.

Excellent customer service!  I just went here with some friends and we had a blast.  Brought our own bubbly and went to town playing with the dresses and providing a fashion show.  While I did fall for one of the dresses I actually ended-up finding "the one" at a different shop, that didn't provide half the quality of customer service.  The dresses here are great and I felt that the coordinator really did listen to our feedback and bring in appropriate dresses.  It is also nice that they help you get into and out of the dresses as many are quite cumbersome.  Some of the shops send you wondering through their collections and don't offer too much help.  This shop is different.  I highly recommend coming here to look for a dress ... and bring friends, this place is set-up great for larger groups.

If I could leave a negative star rating, I would. This was literally the worst bridal experience I have had. Not only did the consultant greet us smacking food in her mouth, and bare foot.....she acted like we were literal children. We were not allowed to look at dresses (Which is the whole point you're there, right?????), and my bridesmaids were ordered repeatedly to sit down. Once she had selected dresses for me to try on, she came in the curtained room with me, and barked that I take my clothes off....without looking away. As I was undressing, and she was putting dresses on me, she literally went through her cookie-cutter questions like 'so, whens the day? how did you meet', all the while gazing past me, not caring one single bit. When we finally had had enough, and I told her we were leaving (there was one dress left to try on), she barked at me 'WELL, THIS is the one that YOU picked out!!!!'. So, i stayed and tried the last dress on.  OH, and did I mention they serve you the cheapest, Cooks quality bubbly, while expecting you to fork over $3k for a dress???? Honestly, I couldn't get out of there fast enough, and even if I had found the dress of my dreams, I would NEVER give them a single dollar. Don't they work on commission???? Big mistake. Only go there if you want to ruin what should be one of the funnest parts of your wedding journey. These ladies are a joke.
Do yourself a favor, and go down the street. Spend your money not only on a dress you love, but service that will make you feel special.

I've been here twice to assist a friend of mine in her quest for the perfect dress.

They have been so helpful! They were accommodating to her budget, only bringing out dresses that were in her range and that matched the description of what she was looking for. Rachel was the salesperson helping us and she was so attentive and sweet and made our bride feel very comfortable.

    Would definitely recommend coming here!

Out of all the bridal places we visited, this was the most promising.  The selection is very large, but has the personal service and professionalism of the boutique dress stores.  This place is one step up from a place like david's bridal in terms of selection and atmosphere, but quite a few more notches up in regard to service.

This is a good place to scope out dresses that you may want but I do agree with the other Yelpers that it is hard to go through the dresses under the thick plastic dress covers.  It should also be noted that the last time I went there were tons of inventory with beads and sequins and I was looking for something on the simple side.  So if you're more of a bride looking to be bedazzled, this is your place.  Otherwise, you'll be better off looking elsewhere.

I was very disappointed with my fiance's experience with Ania Collections. She found the dress that she wanted, got measured, and ordered her dress for our wedding. Two months later, the dress arrived, but didn't fit. Rather than own up to the fact that they had made a mistake, the ladies at Ania attempted to cover themselves by suggesting my fiance had add 'a few inches' around her waist.

First of all, who does that?  My fiance hardly has an ounce of fat on her, and she left feeling insecure that she had gained weight...nice.

Once they realized that the mistake was theirs, they refunded her money completely...

    2 problems with that.

#1. We are 7 weeks from our wedding, and she needs a new dress.  There is no room for mistakes with this sort of thing.

#2. They can't take back the fact that they said she had gained 3 inches (is that even possible in 8 weeks??).  That is just unprofessional, and rude.

I highly recommend that you look elsewhere!

I'm so glad I found them! Didn't end up getting my bridesmaid's dresses there but did send my couture dress from California to Portland to have them clean, steam, press. I was pressured for time and they did an amazing job. The ladies there are so nice and when E-mailing them they were very responsive. My dress turned out beautifully. I'm so happy.

ania is a mixed bag depending on which associate you're matched with.  no matter who you're matched with, you should expect to be rushed through your appointment and your family may or may not be offered anywhere to sit (side-eye to the bridesmaids in another party taking up hella space with their purses and champagne and spread legs).  part of this is a huge problem with the way the boutique is arranged-- their seating arrangement is awkward and unimpressive.

that said, their accessories are among the best in town, which makes a difference when you're trying on gowns.  they get three stars from me for their accessories and for offering a bigger selection of quality gowns than anywhere else in portland.  the service, attitude levels, and store arrangement (how can you be uppity and ineffectual at the same time?) knock serious stars off.

ps. other than the wtoo line, which they only carry a few examples of, most dresses are between 2000-4500.
