Anyone knows me knows that I am a Cub fan, and a Bud man, well, woman. I guess the marketing really worked (although at that time I was fairly young, but whatevers).

I had to make a trip here to check out the brewery, since I'm a Bud gal!

The tour was great, and the point of awesomeness was seeing the gorgeous Clydesdales and even the adorable Dalmatian! (Isn't his name Spot?)

Anyway, it was cool to see what is involved with the brewing process, and of course, the light at the end of the tunnel, a free "sample" of 2 beers of your choice! awesome!!

A must if you are in St. Louis!!! This is such a part of St. Louis history and it is a must see!  If you want to do the private tour you have to book in advance.  We found out the wrong way about this because we tried to book it but couldn't.  But, we were able to manage to get into the free one and it was awesome!  It was a little over an hour long and so worth the money, lol!  They took us on a walking tour throughout the entire grounds.  Learned about the history behind the brewski!  If you love to learn the history behind things, like I do, then you would appreciate this tour!

We got to see some Clydesdales which were really beautiful.

Worth seeing if you are a beer drinker, like me : )

At the end of the tour they gave us 2 free beer samples!!!

Great gift shop too if you love all things Budweiser!!

They had to mess with the formula for Budweiser. Not that it was a great beer, but it was a great brand and a brand that I had an emotional attachment to. Good Bye Budweiser (the beer).

This was by far my most favorite touristy thing to do while in St. Louis. What a beautiful facility! What friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. What a fun, informative and interesting tour. The horses, the Dalmatian, the huge tanks and the pipes carrying the product overhead, the gift shop, the history, the artifacts and last but not least, the tasting room.
A wonderful way to spend some quality, fun, relaxing time while in St. Louis, MO

I hate Budweiser and refuse to drink Schlitz either ironically or not ironically. Yet it was I who coaxed the other half to go with me on the Anheuser-Busch tour. And I'm so glad we went!

First off, the facility is huge. For those of you, who like me, have gone to see a few microbreweries, this place just blows them away in size. It's incredible just how much they produce and how many drunks there are in the US. Everything from the casks to the bottling line is just a crazy testament to how fast and mechanical everything's become. The grounds are beautiful, and especially beautiful if you take one of the last tours of the day around Christmas, with the place all lit up.

And yes, the best part is at the end, when the tour brings you to their tasting room and you get to sample two 5 oz glasses of beer, while grabbing as many bags of pretzels as you can. There's everything from a standard Budweiser to one of their newer Michelob products on tap. Go enjoy the tour, then get your drink on.

Blah blah blah...history, blah blah...horses - GET TO THE FREE SAMPLES ALREADY!

Yeah that's why I went but i was surprised how interesting the tour really was. That factory is huuuuge. And I couldn't believe how many beers they either brew or import. Plus the whole place smells like beer (in a good way not like when you spill beer on the carpet and forget about it)

A lot of cool info about the company and their products in general. Plus if you ever felt the need to own something with a big bud logo on it they have a gift shop.

Great trip for anyone whether your into history or beer. But everybody can appreciate free beer.

Taking the free hour-long tour grants you 2 free beers (and bottomless soda/pretzels) afterwards! I've taken the tour a handful of times in bringing by guests from out of town.

It's a worthwhile tour to see the facilities, though in all the times I've gone I've never gotten to see the bottling room which they warn you ahead of time is sometimes not open for the tour. Sad for me since that's the one room I want to see most!

Taking the tour is suitable for families and people young and old - there is not too much walking involved.

The glass-boxed mini-museum of beer bottles and A-B swag in the tour waiting area is interesting, and the souvenier shop is large.

You made one of the worse 40 ounces of all time. King Kobra

You tried to infiltrate the ghettos by making King Cobra and I have to take my hat off to you, you succeeded. But even then your 40 ounce was the weakest out, well  Country Club is a good runner up.  I want a stronger one from you! Stop making beer that taste like watered down brown bags steeped with wheat.

    Stronger please!

My bro, sis-in-law, and I  take in a tour just about every time we come to StL for a ballgame...this time, we were companied by my fiancee, who was touring the brewery for the first time.

Other than the hospitality room (where free beer can be had) and the packaging plant (which was not open for tours this time but which we've seen during visits in the past for our Laverne-and-Shirley moment), my favorite part of the tour is the room in which beechwood aging takes place. Now I'm not a huge Budweiser fan, so I don't know how much difference the beechwood aging really makes in the taste of the beer...but I do know that the 50-degree room that houses the aging tanks provides a great way to cool off on a hot summer day (which seems to be about any day from May through September). And the whole premises are permeated by the smell of the various grains that are used as part of the brewing process, a scent that smells like neither food nor beer, necessarily, but which my brother and I both labeled a "happy smell."

Of note: (1) We went over Memorial Day, but our wait was still only 15 minutes before we joined a tour. (2) In addition to the free beer available at the tour's-end hospitality room, free samples of Michelob Ultra Dark were available BEFORE the tour, so we ended up with 3 free beers instead of just two. Yee-Haw! (3) Anheuser-Busch apparently now distributes Grolsch and Bass in the U.S., hence both of them were available at the hospitality room.

I have lived in St. Louis my entire life, and I am extremely proud to have Anheuser Busch as a part of our city.  Recently, a friend had family visit and we took them around St. Louis.  One of the things that we did was to do the brewery tour.  Now, they aren't yet 21, but the rest of us are and we really liked getting the free samples after the tour.

It was very interesting seeing how the beer was made and to hear the history.  My Dad is a big history buff, and always goes on about the Busch's, and so it was nice to hear that he really knows his stuff even though I don't think that he himself has taken the tour.  I digress, no matter who you are, the Anheuser Busch brewery tour is wonderful and you will enjoy it, whether you can legally take the samples or just watch others enjoy them.  If you've never gone then you should go, and definitely come if you have visitors!

A really fun brewery tour and ends with two free beers...now I know some of you beer snobs (myself included) don't drink Bud or it's slimmer Dude-Bro Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch did purchase Stella Artois a while back so they have that on tap.

I did get to try the BL with Lime (i've seen commercials, but never wanted to pay to drink one). Really watered down beer, but I can see why the College kids are digging it.

When I go to St. Louis there is really only one place I want to go.  Sure, the art museum rocked my socks.  The Basillica brought me to tears.  The Gateway Arch not only restarted my fear of heights but created a new fear of cramped places.  The Butterfly House reminded me why I live in SoCal.  But it is the Anheuser-Busch Factory that keeps me coming back.

You've heard it before but I don't mind saying it again: FREE BEER.  Not only free FULL-SIZE samples of beer but absolutely the freshest tasting beer you could ever get.  No skunk in this tap!  Besides the history of the factory within this great tour (not too long and not too short) there are gads of other beer that you didn't think Busch made but then, what a pleasant surprise - they do make it!  I've always been a fan and now even a bigger fan knowing all the other beers they make too!

I've been through the tour a couple different times.  It is always slightly different each time only because they close of certain sections to protect trade secrets.  So every new time I go, a different part of the tour is closed because of the trade secret.

The entire place smells wonderful.  Hops and barely and luscious, luscious beer.  *Homer drool*  In addition to beer you get a little snack pack of salty goodness.

I can't wait to go back!

When it comes to tours there is none that beats the Anheuser-Busch Brewery tour. The best way to describe it is like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but this time, it is geared for adults and you don't have to worry about drowning in a chocolate river. The Anheuser-Busch Brewery tour is one of the things that if you live in St. Louis or happen to be visiting the Gateway City, then the beckoning knowledge of the history of Budweiser products will call, if not that, then the lure of free beer after the tour might.

I have gone on the tour a couple of times, mostly with friends and family who happen to be visiting. Each time that I have gone the information is still the same; the history has not changed, which I would guess is a good thing. You're shown all the inner workings of the brewery and the process in which the beer is made. The tour guides are generally always in good spirits and seem to enjoy answering any questions that you might have.

The Anheuser-Busch brewery tour is a great way to knock off a couple of hours of the day. The tour is not terribly long, nor is it horribly short. The tour is great for friends and family, even if they aren't yet 21. Of course, the best thing about the tour, to me, is the free samples at the end.

First of all, let me warn you that Stella Artois' parent company, InBev, purchased Anheuser-Busch a little bit back, and the locals are for the most part still a bit defensive about it. So ordering a Stella at the end of the tour may get you a bit of a dirty look, but they'll still pour it for you.

That said, the brewery is amazing in its scale, and the facilities are obviously first-rate. I have a much higher opinion of this family of beers now, knowing just how much the locals care about it and what pride they take in their work. Well worth a stop to check out and sample their beer (for free!).

I can't believe the tour and parking are free. How cool is that? Although the tour was a bit longer than I was expecting (around an hour).

It was cool seeing the Clydesdales, even if they were "behind bars". Those horses are HUGE!

Is it just me, though, or do you find it odd that people would bring their children to a brewery tour? Maybe I am old-fashioned, but I don't see how it's a good idea to introduce children to alcohol at a young age. What kind of message is that sending them? I dunno, like I said, that's just me, but I thought it was weird.

The tour completes with free beer and snacks. And then a long drive home if it's the last stop on your little vacation from Chicago.

Although not my favorite of beers, I have certainly consumed more than my share of AB products.

The tour is great for a huge place and after reading what the other yelpers had to say now I wish I had time this trip to hit the brewmaster tour.  I will have to save that one for another trip.  It is easy to see why everyone likes the tour, the place is HUGE, clean and the tour is a little overwhelming.

Yea, I like the AB products now a little more... ha ha but the free drinks at the end of the tour are what makes a lasting impression.

    Great brewery tour!

A short drive from St. Louis, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery is a fun and educational experience!  The plant is enormous and you'll quickly learn that it was once a self functioning company town, complete with school and housing for employees.  You can take a tram ride around and learn about the history of the brewery.

Like Carnegie and Rockefeller, Adolphus Busch was an industrial baron with an incredible sense of vision.  While touring the brewery, you will gain an incredible insight of how his dream became reality.  The entire brewing process is on display and explained - the tour is truly fascinating!

The visitor will also get to see the famous Clydesdales in their stables and at the end, experience the hospitality room.  Each person can sample two 5 oz. beers and pretzels are offered as well.  Great way to finish the tour and relax for a bit!

*** Take the time to look through the gift shop.  It's awesome! It has every Budweiser item that you can think of!

As a borderline alcoholic (i.e., college student), there's really nothing that can keep me from giving this less than a 5 star rating. Let's think about this kids: Beer, pretzels, horses. ALL DELICIOUS! (bad joke...ba dum ching!). On a serious note, I haven't been here in awhile but I'm sure this place is still great. The free tour gives you a peek into the process and history behind the brewing of Busch Beer.

In addition to the typical beer tour I also had the opportunity to tour their horse stables and was able to *meet* the various Clydesdale horses that are made famous by those Budweiser beer commercials a few years back.

You learn about beer and get to see the various equipment and to finish it all off, is a visit to their tasting area where you're presented with a variety of their beers for sampling.

Beer, beer, beer, Clydesdale, and beer. Fun for adults and kids.

I tossed out the Budweiser Brewery tour as something to do in St Louis since it is there and big and part of history. The main entrance building is pretty big, with display cases showcasing various historical tidbits and bottles. There is also a gift shop there.

They talked about the history of A-B,  explained the brewing process, and took us through different buildings (mash tanks, aging cellar). We were also taken to the barn and saw the Clydesdale horses and dalmatian dogs. They were feeding so we only saw their butts.

At the end of the tour, you end up in the tasting room and get 2 tasters. The tasters are full-sized (12oz or so). There are non-alcoholic beverages as well and pretzels to munch on.

I'm going to start this off by saying that I'm not even going to talk about the InBev stuff...this is not the place to talk about that kind of thing. So let's just ignore that for now and talk about this great St. Louis establishment.

The brewery tour is a must-stop for any visitor, and any St. Louisan should absolutely make at least one trip here. It's free, it's informative, and hey--free beer at the end!

It is really neat to look at the old AB packaging and learn about the history. The tour guides usually know what they're talking about; you can tell they have a lot of training! You get to see the massive plant in all its glory, but my favorite part is going to see the Clydesdales. They are truly regal and majestic.

The end of the tour is fun because you get two full-sized samples, and they do a little quiz game at the end with people from the "audience."

Forget the politics and the business...if you are in St. Louis, go on the tour.

I have to admit, I haven't taken the tour (although I'd love to). I'm just here to applaud the Bud Chelada with just the right amount of Clamato added to Bud Light. Just tried this flavor for the first time at our local Hooters ...whoo-hoo! This was the most refreshing beer I've had in a long time. I'm usually an imported beer type of person but this recent experience might make me even more of a Bud fan for life...or until the discontinue this flavor.

    Damn good stuff!

We went on the tour today and I didn't quite know what to expect from one of the world's largest beer companies.  I really enjoyed seeing the grounds and it was very inspiring to see the magnitude of their brewing process.  Really, everything in this brewery is huge. Granted, I've never been to any other major brewer and have only been to a microbrewery once, but I kind felt like it was visiting Texas: everything is just bigger here.

I liked how they explained the brewing process. Though, since I fancy myself a homebrewer, I would have liked some more details.  Still, I learned a couple of things and I thought the tour guides did the best they could with such a large group (there was about 60 people or so with our group). You could tell that it was about the one millionth time the tour guides had given the tour, but they did the best they could.

I also appreciated that you got to see so much of the process, including the bottling.  A-B's bottling process is simply fascinating to see and I could have stood on the viewing platform for hours, just watching.

I didn't give this five stars as the tour was just too cookie cutter for me, kinda like their beer.  Perhaps a smaller group would have helped. I think also the fact that the guides had to speak to us over microphoned project also made the tour feel less personal.  Especially when one of the mics kept cutting out.

But I would definitely recommend this place as a must-see if your are visiting St. Louis. If you're from here, you really do need to go just because it's such a major St. Louis, nevermind American, institution.

Plus, as the other Yelpers may have mentioned - free beer at the end!

I'm all for the brewery tour. It's great and all. But what I really dig about A-B is the smell.
You know what I'm talking about. Or at least you do if you live in south city. That yeasty aroma that wafts through the air, especially on a crisp fall morning. It's one of the great sensory experiences of living in St. Louis.

No longer an American owned brewery, but nonetheless this place deserves much of the credit for ruining the beer scene in the U.S. for the 20th Century.  We had countless breweries pre-Prohibition, and after Prohibition these guys transformed beer for the worse by making it as flavorless as possible via use of adjuncts.  Sure this is great for making beer more palatable to non-beer drinkers, but the popularity of reduced flavor beers meant that it took until the end of the 20th century before craft beer was able to emerge again.  Who knows how wonderful American beer would be today if it wasn't set back 60-70 years as a result of this company and a handful of others.

Two words: Beermaster Tour. If you want to really see the guts of the brewery, then spend the money and make reservations for the Beermaster Tour. You go to all the places on the free tour, plus other places and in more detail. You get free out of cask beer and you get to sit around the Beermaster Suite and try all the other brews after the tour. and that's not all folks, you get a free hat. That's right! The Anheuser-Busch brewery tour was awesome! It's free and you get to take as many pictures as you would like around the brewery. It was amazing seeing how everything gets processed, it's sprawling. I'm convinced that their Clydesdales live the best pampered lives for horses ever! Be prepared to walk through a few different buildings, and while you're at it take in the wonderful aroma of what is probably the hops and barley; it really smells great. To top it off, you get two free complimentary draft beers and pretzels in the hospitality room. For those who are underage/children or a person who doesn't drink, they have a soda fountain in the back and two non-alcoholic beers (O'doul's Regular and Amber). Definitely worth going to!

Free beer! Whooo. And oh yeah free tour. Pretty sweet. The tour was short and tour guide went through everything pretty fast, but it's understandable since it's for free and they have to do tons of tours everyday. This place is it's own little city. It's huge. It's nice that we were able to go inside some of the builidings and see what machines the beers went through and how they're packaged. This is a really great FREE tour.

Had a great time today on the tour! We decided to splurge and pay the $25 dollars for the brewmaster tour. It was a smaller tour, with head phones so you could hear the tour guide the whole time. The extra money gets you a smaller tour group,  a tour of the actual production line (which was really cool), a glass cup (that you use to get your beer out of the barrels), a hat, and free beer and time to drink it in the lounge. Id say it was money well spent. We had a great time. I just wish bud light tasted as good out of the bottle as it did right out of the barrel!

The AB brewery was huge. We did the brewmasters tour that was different from the usual one and I'd recommend that you do the same. The tour went through the huge vats, brewing, and bottling of our national swill. It was amazing to see all that beer going by. We were taken through the Clydesdale stables and versed on the history of this prestigious team. They poured us beers straight from the tanks and then we adjourned to our private tasting room for some samples. They pretty much let us call what we wanted to try which was really cool. Shock top was my fav. Not a beer that Ill ever buy, but a really interesting tour. Ein grosse weis bier bitte.

If an out-of-towner comes to visit stl, this should be among the places to go.  I like this kind of stuff--seeing and hearing how something is manufactured...but even if you don't care to know about brewing, you can always go for the free beer.  Bus and elevators involved, minimal walking, go down some stairs, horses and odd smells involved.

On one of my trips back to STL I made a stop here. I grew up in STL but never got around to come here and then when I brought my wife here for a baseball game, I wanted to take her here because she wanted to go. This place is great. It seemed that as soon as we walked in a tour was starting. I think they go every 45min or so. The tour guides knew everything there is to know about this brewery. I wonder how long the test is to do something like this.
They started off giving us history of the brand and then they brought us to the brewery station and the place where they keep the Clydesdale's. Those horses are SUPER HUGE. I mean i know they are big...but they are even larger in person. The thing i didn't know was they whole site was actually a small town when it first started. They had a school house which is still there. There was one building we went into that had a display of all the AnheuserBusch beers. There had to have at least 100+ beers in the case. Some I have never heard of. There was a few other stops but finally we got to the tasting room. AMAZING. We were able to each have 2 drinks and these have to be the freshest beer I have ever had. The taste was soooooooo good. I mean they do make it there for goodness sake.
After the tour we stopped by the gift shop and picked up a few gifts for us and some for some friends back home. This is an amazing free tour. The only other tour of a brewery that I have been on was in Amsterdam at the Heineken Brewery and it was not free but they still gave you a few free beers. I would have to say this one was better because I grew up around the Budweiser products and still drink them to this day.
Everyone should check this out if you are in town.

As beer tours go, A-B was pretty good.  It keeps a good pace and is not too long.  The scale of production is breathtaking, and the grounds have enough history to be worth a look.  The propaganda video and obligatory Clydesdale in a stall are tolerable.  Whatever half-baked idea has "next big thing" status in the tasting room is usually good for a laugh.  (Shotz? Priceless.)  Overall a pleasant way to kill some time.  Stop by Gus's pretzels while you're in the neighborhood.

I'm from STL and I love Anheuser-Busch (AB), and not just because my husband works for them. I loved them way before then. The brewery tour is a whole lot of fun and is extremely educational, but doesn't shove it down your throat. Even if you're just tolerating the tour part for the 2 free samples in the end, you're going to have a good time. The tour goes through all the major parts of the Soulard AB campus, including the bottling works, the Clydesdale stables and paddock, and several other important buildings. I really like learning about and seeing around this huge STL business and community partner. The tasting at the end isn't too bad either; I'm not going to lie. At the culmination of the 45-50 minute tour, you get two free samples of AB products. I'm not just talking about the standards, Budweiser, Bud Light, or Bud Select. Usually, the tour center will feature samples of beers still in production, beers you can't get anywhere else, or beers that they're testing on you before they are even mass produced. I'm a girl who loves to try new things, so this is right up my alley. They also offer non-alcoholic options at the end of the tour, as AB distributes several energy drinks, fruit drinks, and other beverages.

I lived in St. Louis for a short time and made a point to see all that I could while I was there.  The one place I wasn't super-excited to see was the Anheuser-Busch brewery.   But, you know, how would it look if I came back home and told people I didn't go?  So I took the tour.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  When I think "brewery", painted wrought iron, chandeliers, and mosaic tile artwork are not the first things that pop into my mind.  There are 3 buildings on the campus that are part of the National Historic Register.  The place is immaculate and smells like grains and yeast.  I would live in the Clydesdale stables.  The tour was fantastic with lore for the beer buffs, history for the history buffs, and lots of shiny things for little kids to look at.  Of course there are the 2 beer samples at the end of the free tour and they have many brands and new brews on tap that may surprise you.  I still won't drink Bud, but I would go back to the brewery in a heartbeat.
