The claypot chicken rice is NICE!!! They have a tonne of mushrooms in it. The longer the rice/chicken/mushroom stays in the claypot, the tastier as the sauce get soaked up by the rice. Some rice are burnt so it's really crispy and chewy... What a nice surprise to find claypot rice available here.
Great service and very nice and relaxing ambience, even during lunch time. -
Review from Sarah Y.
I came here for the 7 Courses of Beef (Bo 7 Mon) and was a bit underwhelmed. I've had the 7 Courses of Beef at two other places before previously - Pagolac and Anh Hong in SF. Here's how I would rank the three: 1) Pagolac, 2) Anh Hong SF, 3) Anh Hong Milpitas. Strangely, although part of the same restaurant group as the Anh Hong in SF, Anh Hong Milpitas' food quality was a bit inferior.
I wasn't a fan of how they did the 1st course (beef salad) and I've had much better meat quality/taste for the 2nd course (hotpot-style beef wrap-your-own spring rolls). Courses 3-5 were subpar, as well. The beef sausage dishes (Courses 3-5) had a bit of a weird flavor, and we only got 2 beef meatballs for Course 6. The beef porridge (Course 7) was also not as flavorful and the beef was much tougher than that at Pagolac, for instance.
Service was also not very good. One of the dishes we ordered (catfish soup) never even came, with no explanation whatsoever. We had to ask more than once for water, and we had to ask for some condiments, as well. "Ambiance" is not anything to write home about either.
The only saving grace was the Banh Xeo I ordered (Vietnamese shrimp crepe), which was pretty yummy.
I'd go elsewhere for Bo 7 Mon, but perhaps they have other authentic, non-pho Vietnamese dishes in their repertoire that are worth sampling. -
Review from Amiee H.
First time having 7 course beef and it was fantastic!!
FOOD:
1) 7 course beef:
Course 1: Beef pickled veggie salad
- tastes like papaya salad but with beef, pretty good, I liked the sour taste of the salad
Course 2: Thin slices of beef lightly cooked by boiling vinegar
- feels like beef fondue, you get a little boiling bowl of vinegar that you get to dip your beef slices in to lightly cook it, the beef comes out very tender and tasty!
Course 3: Beef rolls rolled up in onion
- Tastes like a well made sausage! Really good!
Course 4: Beef rolls rolled up in seaweed
- I think the best of all the beef rolls! I liked how the seaweed taste complimented the beef sausage
Course 5: Beef rolls rolled up in pork net fat?
- of course anything rolled up in fat is going to taste amazing!
Course 6: Beef pate
- Overshadowed by all the other courses of beef, but still pretty good, it was like a ice cream scoop of a Vietnamese version of a meatloaf
Course 7: Beef Congee
- Vietnamese take on Chinese congee with slices of beef in it. Pretty good way to clean your palate after all the course of beef.
2) Seafood (shrimp/squid) marinated in lemongrass:
- you can cook these raw seafood pieces on a hot plate, it's pretty good because it's very well marinated!
3) Vietnamese Crepe:
Very different from a regular french crepe. It looks like an over sized, well pan fried, crispy omelet with an excess of bean sprouts inside. It's kinda flavorless eaten alone but if you dip it in some sauce it's pretty good!
4) Salty Plum Soda:
I don't know when I fell in love with the salty/sweet combination, but this drink just further confirmed that this combination is well loved by my taste buds! Really refreshing with a nice off balance of salt so the sweetness doesn't take over! YUM!
Service:
They treat you like family here! We were greeted in a friendly way at the door, they were checking on us frequently (my friend dropped his chopstick and within 5 seconds, someone brought him a new pair without him even asking!!) , and when we left, we were excessively thanked for coming in. Well done waiters!
Ambiance:
The restaurant is one big rectangular room so when you walk in, you can see the whole place. It's pretty clean despite being very busy!
Price:
A meal for 5 people (and we were stuffed!) and it came out to be around $100. Pretty good deal for the freshness of food and how tasty everything was!
Overall:
I would recommend coming here to try the 7 course beef!! Really worth the experience!! I didn't try anything else but I heard it wasn't worth it. I would totally come back for the 7 course beef experience!! :) -

I like those guys, they cook very tasty food. They serve very fast, they are like Figaro here and Figaro there. Asian guys rules.
I suggest you at least to try their food first, and make a decision later. Everyone has different taste. So good luck. -

If I could give this place a big fat 0 stars I would!! We walked in yesterday 5/9, with 5 people and they sat us at the table closest to the kitchen area. Upon walking in it looked clean, it looked cleaner than the one on Tully Rd, but was NOT! There were only two other groups in there. The table they sat us at had not 1, not 2, but THREE worm looking bugs, possibly maggotts. After we found the third one sitting on the actual table we got up and left. I was sooooo dissapointed. I really wanted 7 course beef!!!
The Tully Rd location looks really dirty, and is a bit smelly, but their food was really good.
Can anyone recocommend any CLEAN restaurants that serve 7 course beef??? -

San Jose, CA
I have visited this place a couple times over the years and have had nothing but the 7 course beef. Mainly because I wouldn't know what else to order.
Taste: The sweetness in the dishes can be overpowering at times. The sweetness in the beef was surprising in a good way at first, then became more of an annoyance when I realized there wouldn't be anything besides the sweetness.
Service: This is where this place takes the cake. I've been to many asian places where the service stinks. I'd say Korean places are the worst with their awful pretentious attitudes at times. But this place puts the bad Korean places to shame!
If you're not Viet or with someone who can speak Viet and is Viet, then don't come here. Each time I've gone and asked for more veggies, all i've been given is a scornful look and some muttering in Vietnamese. I'm not even asking for meat, just veggies for goodness sake! -

A place for adventurous soul looking for unexpected yet great and satisfying gastronomic cravings. 7 Beef course meal is good to try.
1st . Beef salad-The beef carpaccio is so good, by itself, even without the salad and pickled daikon.
2nd Hot pot style spring rolls. cook your beef on hot broth and make a spring roll. This dish adds playfulness to the dinning experience.
3rd -6th 1meat ball, 3 different sausage on the same platter
The 3 different beef sausage, tea leaf wrapped beef, beef with onions in the middle, and regular sausage almost redundant in flavor, however still delecteble.
7th Beef Porridge- light porridge pack with flavor.
Overall, it is a great meal and enjoyed the experience. I recommend going on weekdays since it gets pack on weekend. -
Review from Tran N.
Bo 7 mon is a Vietnamese classic. It's really meant for people who like to eat cuon (food wrapped spring roll style). All of the meat dishes besides the porridge are meant to be wrapped in rice paper and dipped in nuoc mam. I think place is really worth it given that it's usually a big hassle to prepare all of this stuff to eat cuon at home.
There's a minimum of two orders of bo 7 mon, each serving costs $20. The prices have risen over the years, but I think it's still worth it. My bf and I ordered two servings and had plenty of left over to take home. The service is pretty fast and efficient. The waiters were also pretty aware of how far along we were with each dish so we never felt like we were waiting around. -

4-stars because there aren't much restaurants like these. I went there with my family and a family friend. It was a bit cramped; the waiters and busboys had to play Tetris is make all the dishes and condiments fit on our small table. I thought the food was alright. This restaurant is like a DIY spring rolls; they provide all the ingredients you need, you put whatever you want in it and roll it up! It might take a while to master the spring roll rice paper/tortilla-equivalent; make sure you only wet the whole rice paper round once! If you do it more than once, it'll get too soggy and you would have trouble flattening out.
The good stuff: the waiters would constantly refill the veggie condiments and rice papers, service wasn't bad, and I think it's fun that it's a DIY-spring roll restaurant. The bad stuff: everyone in your party MUST order one dish; it's a rule. I heard my parents and their friends discussing that each member of your party must order a dish or they'll order one for you. Also, if you like your spring rolls ready made, this restaurant is probably not for you. -

7 courses of beef!! What carnivore wouldn't be excited right? They always seem to have a crowd at the door and its Friday night. So I decide to take them on up their reservation services. When I call he asks me to hold even though he spoke perfect english. He shouts in Vietnamese, "She sounds like she speaks Vietnamese. Why the hell is she speaking English?" Stupidity at its finest. Not a smart move if you're talking smack AND you suspect I speak the same language. We're off to a bad start.
So he comes back on the phone and asks for how many people and I still politely replied, "2". "Just come in. No need for reservations". "So I won't be waiting at 7:30 when I arrive? I want to make reservation so I dont have to wait". He says no u won't. I insisted for him to take it and eventually he did. He took my phone number, but not my name. I brush it off. Bad customer service at an Asian restaurant. Typical. Okay.... no big deal. Whatever.
7:30pm- Prime time dinner.
Every table was occupied.
3 groups ahead of me. One couple and two group of 4's. Thank god I was persistant with reservation!!!! Persistence pays off. Staff is a little more courteous upon arrival.
I get a table within 10 minutes and the 7 course beef was actually only 4. Dont be fooled. However you do get a little taste of everything.
1st course: Beef salad
2nd course : Hot pot style spring rolls
3rd course : 1meat ball, 3 different sausage on the same platter
(accounts for 4 course)
4th course : Porridge
Every good meal should consist of the 5 "S's". Savory, Sour, Spicy, Sweet, and Service. This restaurant have only mastered the sweet. Very one note, very one trick pony. Everything from the sauces, salad, sausage, to the porridge was on the sweet side. Despite the bad start, and trying service during dining I came with an open mind. The flavors were just not there. 1Star. -

Really Yelpers?! 4 star average.. I disagree! Maybe I'm rating low because I'm an "Americanized." And my tastes have somewhat strayed from the homeland. (I was born in San Jose, it is the homeland!) Anyways, not gonna extend this...
Selection of dishes seemed limited. Yea you get 7 courses but 3 of the 7 courses are grilled beef. Lets mix it up! My favorite was the one topped with peanuts. There was a salad that came out prior to the course which was light and fresh. The salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. Service was attentive, although they were skimp on some of the veggies (lettuce in particular). We had to ask for more at least 3 times. We weren't refilled with fresh hot water for our wraps so towards the end we were dipping in cold water. Drinking water was refilled when requested.
Meh... -

This place is one of my two favorite places to go for 7 courses of beef (the other being Saigon Kitchen) in the South Bay. Of course, when I order the seven courses I never actually enjoy all the courses, so these days I just order a la carte.
In any event, the food is good, the service is prompt, and the ingredients are fresh. Also a plus, the wontons here are excellent, probably among the best I've had. Unexpected, but a wonderful surprise. -

For years, I've heard so much about this place and after getting the chance to try it...I don't see what all the fuss is about!
We ordered 'Bo 7 Mon' (seven courses of beef) and I wanted to stop after the third course. It sounds like a lot of food, but it's not that much. I personally only liked the beef salad, and the beef that comes w/ rice paper. Everything else I could of easily done without. I don't know what it was but this place didn't get to me. I've been anticipating this visit for so long and it's unfortunate that it didn't meet my expectations. Definitely over-hyped. -

As with many of the different reviews, this place is famous for their 7 courses of beef. Raw beef, beef salad, beef sausage, beef congee..and...let's just say it's a lot of meat :)
The food came out fast to the point that we were trying to scarf everything down so that we could place dishes that they kept on bringing out. Overall, it was a good experience, but it was a little pricey. -

We had several dishes ,And the 7 types of beef course. Delish! I was thinking No RICE! Well. I was told everything is eaten with veggies not a problem with me. I love veggies. I left very happy. And full.

Had the 7 course meal.
1. beef salad... i enjoyed it because I like refreshing salads, but I see how a lot of other people would'nt. It says beef, but i swear it was chicken because it was white?
2. raw beef dipped in hot soup... wasn't that great, I mean you wrap it like a spring roll but the beef has no flavor,
3. beef sausage wrapped with lot leaf... this was my favorite! loved it, so much flavor and it was juicy.
4. lemongrass sausage with onion... least favorite of the three sausages served. onions a bit too raw for my taste.
5. beef sausage.. yummy, juicy n tons of flavor
6. beef ball... was good by itself, wrapping it in the roll lost its flavor
7. porridge.. not the best i had but it was not bad.
I came here with two other guys and we ordered two orders of this dinner and shared it. we also ordered rice noodle as a side to add in to the spring roll.
Service was very nice, we were low on lettuce and they automatically came over with another plate of greens. -

The family and I decided on having dinner at this location of Anh Hong with my in-laws. We arrived at 5pm and were unaware that a reservation was required but since it wasn't busy yet and we had a party of 11 we were seated and given our menus. Hubby ordered for us.
- Crispy Won Ton Soup
- Beef Shrimp Rolls
- Beef Lemongrass Rolls
- Soft Chowmein
There was plenty of food. Service was good until it got busy but the food was worth it. Definitely will make reservations next time we go. -

The 7 courses of beef are fabulous and a bargain for just $19.95 per person. The flavors are simple and well executed. There's a logic in the presentation, which is essentially in 4 waves:
1) salad
2) fondue (roll your own spring rolls) - this came first for us before salad
3) sausage/roll/patty platter
4) porridge
The great part is you can use the rice paper and condiments/sides with all the courses together. It's an interactive and fun dinning experience.
I avoided any crowds by going on a Saturday at opening (noon) and it was empty and quiet. Made for a perfect 2 hour lunch; a great Dim-Sum alternative. I'll definitely be back again! -
Review from Hanna P.
Came here for their 7 course beef. Definitely delicious however it seems like two orders for two people is just ridiculous!!
We paid $40 for something that we couldn't even finish half of and it's crazy to think that their minimum order is 2! WTF? Even for just two people!?
If you're going to eat here, definitely come in a large group. Or at least more than 2 because it's a rip off for a couple. Other than that, the food was delicious, service was good, and everything came out alright. We just had A LOT leftover. -

Went to this place with a big group of people
Before we got there one of my friends had called in 20 minutes in advance to order the Catfish, their specialty
The fish is huge and we also got two other dishes. Some egg rolls and a these beef things to roll up as well
I love wrapping the food up, it is sooo delicious! The service is awesome and they are very attentive about refilling water or anything else you need
I am planning on taking my family their soon! -

After a photo shoot with 1 of my FAV photographer Henry Navarro from http://www.LensExposur..., I got really hungry. Figured that I should show the photographer 7 courses of beef, since he never had it before.
So as usual, I ordered the 7 courses of beef, plenty of herbs & veggies, my photographer enjoyed every single dish & he even ate with the authentic shrimp paste sauce without any hesitation. I'm so proud of him.
All 7 dishes will be served. Menu is served with rice paper, mixed herbs, vegetable & greens, cucumber, carrots, & bean sprout. They serve with Mam Nam & Nuoc Mam - special fish sauce. For only $17.95 per person, minimum order is for 2 people, you get this much!
1. "Goi~ Bo`" Special Beef Salad - A refreshing flavorful mixed salad, daikon, carrot & spring onion.
2. "Bo` Nhung' Dam'" Beef Fondue -Slices of Tenderloin fondue at your table in a simmering red wine vinegar sauce, onion & lemongrass. My 2nd FAV in all dishes! The vinegar boiling with all the beef, at the end you can drink that broth & it is quite sweet & tangy at the same time.
3. "Bo` Cha~ Dum`" Steamed Beef Meat Balls - Meat Balls mixed with Nuts, black wood ear Mushrooms and various traditional Vietnamese spices.
4. "Bo` La' Lot'" Beef Wrapped in Hawaiian Lot Leaf - Minced beef mixed with spices and wrapped in an aromatic leaf freshly flown from Hawaii. By far this is my FAV in the all dishes.
5. "Bo` Mo~ Chai`" Grilled Beef Sausages - Sausages mixed with spices grilled over charcoal to perfection. If you are afraid of fat, skip this dish ;-) but what are we kidding? We come here for this special dishes, right!
6. "Bo` Nuong' Sa~" Beef Grilled with Lemon Grass - charcoal grilled tenderloin rolls topped with peanuts and lemongrass sauce.
7. "Chao' Bo`" Beef Rice Soup - A rich flavorful beef rice soup - light, cooked with beef intestine & what not. A great way to wash down all the yummy meaty we just chow down!
Service was attentive as always & the food was so good & consistent! An hour later, my photographer & I were both well fed & happy! No wonder this place is my favorite place to had this dish in the Bay Area! hands down the best!Listed in: Food I grow up with!

Although this place is good. It also dirty. I guess behind closed door they aren't so clean. Yes, I have seen them dumping back old dipping sauce into the bucket to server other patron after one has dipped into it. I will not visit or give them my business.
Ps. To the restaurant, if you are going to do that...take it back further into your back room where your door doesn't swing out for your customer to see the dirty stuff your doing.
Sincerely,
The customer you lost. -

I took my family here for my dad's birthday. I didn't make a reservation. Only one large table was available (at 5:30), right in front of the door, but there were only two other parties of 2 dining at the moment. I guess they reserve the table HOURS in advance and just don't let anyone sit there even if the people's reservation isn't until 7. Anyway.
We ordered the baked catfish, which ended up being $50 because it was "seasonal". I've never seen catfish listed as seasonal, but whatever.
We also ordered a few servings of the 7 course beef, I definitely felt like we got jipped in portions. A lot of the food was pretty bland.
The worst part really was the service. Yes they were attentive, but whoa, were they TOO attentive. The waiter was hovering behind my boyfriend's elbow as we were looking over the menu. Everytime we'd say something to each other about food, he was all up in it. He kept trying to squeeze in and move things on the table that didnt need to be moved since we didnt even order yet. (Plus the tables are ridiculously small for 7 course beef).
Sometime through the meal, the waiter tried to take away an empty plate that my chopsticks were propped on. He picked up my chopsticks, at the end THAT I PUT IN MY MOUTH and moved them. I totally got a new pair right after.
All in all, it wasn't great food, and we were not comfortable with the service. I like good service and attentive servers, but hovering is NOT COOL. -
Review from Emmie N.
7 courses of beef is the only thing I order, and is the only thing I recommend.
My boyfriend likes this place, and I guess that's how I end up eating here more often than before. Minimum 2 portions order, easily feed 2....but if you go with me, you should order your own 2 portions if you have any hope of being full. JK but seriously though, 2 portions can feed 2-3 people.
Make your own spring roll is the idea :) 4 out of the 7 dishes allow you to customize your roll to your hearts content. The beef salad is kinda lame. I combine the steam beef meat ball with the porridge and it's delicious, try it :) -

I really like this place for the 7 courses of beef. The service is pretty good and everything is fresh. Most people like the 7 courses of beef in the Tully Plaza on Tully Road, but this place is much better.
Recommended for those who enjoy a fresh 7 course of beef meal. -

Came here for my parent's Birthday. I wasn't expecting much, but the dishes were really good. The first meal was just regular hot pot. Not bad, but nothing special. Then came the 7 course beef. It was one (or seven?) of the better courses of beef that I've had. You can taste the quality in the food.
The service is excellent. We never had an empty plate of veggies or a dirty used plate on our table for long. The prices are reasonable and the restrooms are clean. -
Review from Diana B.
Bo 7 (pronounced "bai") mon is my favorite Vietnamese cuisine, and this Anh Hong in Milpitas is my favorite place for getting Bo 7 mon (7 courses of beef). I like that this location is cleaner than the San Jose one that my family and I have been going to ever since I was young. Bo 7 mon is fun to eat with friends, esp. best to eat with a party of 3 or more because ordering one less set than the number of people you have will be a good amount of food. Each set costs $18. Unless there's a big eater in your group, ordering one set per person will leave you too stuffed.
Although 7 courses might sound like a lot of beef, there's variety in how each dish is prepared. The 7 courses are:
1. salad with thinly sliced raw beef marinated in lemon juice - love this
2. raw beef you self-cook in a vinegar-based fondue hot pot - my favorite which the Berkeley location doesn't offer (i like this course so much, i sometimes will add a second order of just the raw beef too)
3-6. comes on the same platter:
3. grilled minced beef rolls wrapped in hawaiian piper lot leaf - favorite, very fragrant
4. grilled beef rolls with onions and lemongrass - my least favorite
5. grilled beef sausage - juicy
6. steamed beef meatball served with shrimp chips - love this too
7. beef porridge - good but uses lots of msg and has cilantro
You can wrap your own spring rolls with the rice paper, courses 2-5 (and even 6 if you like), and veggies. They provide a veggies plate with lettuce, mint, cucumber, bean sprouts, daikon and carrots - all of which you can ask for refills if you run out. However, they didn't have purple basil (my favorite) the last time I visited. Once you've wrapped your spring roll, you can dip it into the orange fish sauce or the brown anchovy sauce (i haven't acquired the taste for the latter yet). Enjoy!
P.S. if you can't finish all the food, you can ask to take the rest to-go. They'll pack more rice paper and veggies for you, too.Listed in: Vietnamese comfort food

Solid four stars.
7 courses of beef. Egg rolls and shrimp on sugarcane are just ok...
It's great how much mint leaves, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and daikons they give you. Pretty clean if you ask me, at least compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Staff is pretty responsive and quick, in my opinion. On the pricier side, but it's not your typical pho joint. -

Love this place. My family and I always get the 7 course. The dipping sauce for the rolls is amazing, put a little hot sauce in and it'll be beast! The 7 course includes Vietnamese salad, regular raw beef (you cook it in hot water), 4 different kinds of beef sausages, and hot rice porridge. The Vietnamese salad is a must have, a light refreshing appetizer. They always renew your plates vegetables.
Great service, always friendly and they try to serve you as quick as possible. It can get really busy and there can be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it!! -

This place deserves a 5 stars from me. We come here quite often and feel that the food are fresh. They give a lot of vegetable to eat with the 7 courses of beef and you can even ask for more.
Besides the food, I'd like to recognize their service staffs. These guys are pretty fast in what they do. They respond to our requests quickly eventhough they are busy serving multiple tables at the same time.
Their prices are at the high range. You can expect to pay around $20 per person. I guess it's okay for both good food and great service. -

Bo bai mon (seven courses of beef) at it's finest! Anh Hong is typically popular for this Vietnamese cuisine. A selection of beef dishes, starting with a goi bo (beef salad) appetizer and ending with a flavorful beef porridge, is served with rice paper, a variety of mixed greens, and slices of cucumber and carrots. To get a better idea of what I'm talking about, check out their menu: http://www.anhhong.com.... They also give you either nuoc mam (fish sauce) or mam nem (anchovy sauce) for dipping. I prefer the latter, which unfortunately, leaves my hands and breathe stinky, but l don't mind it. It's just too good to pass up and the smell is only temporary!
I enjoy eating here because I like being able to roll my own spring rolls and it's a great place to have a good conversation or to catch up with friends and/or family. The food is also well prepared and delicious! The service is extremely prompt and the restaurant is clean, with a very casual atmosphere. -

So worth the wait!!!
Get the 7 course beef dinner....also if you come here w/ a group, def get the whole fish... the catfish is baked to a nice crisp and its absolutely perfect to eat by itself or wrap w/ the pickled veggies... don't forget to add a banh xeo (vietnamese crape) too... sounds like a lot of food (and it is) but it's super good and nice to share =) -

I came here on a Saturday night (around 7-8pm) with a group of 5 guys after we went to TargetMasters.
There is a placemat-like piece of paper with a pen on a podium when we walked in where you can sign up your party/group. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't crowded, and we were able to get a seat almost immediately.
The ambiance was welcoming and warm, but what was weird was that the ventilation was perfect even without huge vents on top of each tables..
The menu's first item is obviously the 7 courses of beef, which I already had chosen even before we arrived. The rest of the menu is pretty much the same as the dishes that are in the 7 courses, but larger and probably styled differently. (I actually don't know, but I'm making an educated guess).
We were surprised that there was actually no pho or any of the other typical Vietnamese dishes included, but there were dishes like Beef Fondue and New York Steak.
The prices were $10-$20, which was comparable to the $17.95 each for the 7 courses, so we all opted for the 7 courses instead.
We all ordered the 7 courses of beef (6 orders). However, the waiter recommended only 5 orders, which we were quite skeptical about (given that these were 6 average guys and a really hungry girl). My boyfriend ordered a jackfruit smoothie ($3.50) and I ordered a salted plum soda ($2.75).
The smoothie came out in a smaller cup than the rest of the drinks, but was good and meaty, tasting similar to banana. The plum soda was a little flat, and most of the time all I tasted was the soda (which as probably just 7up). There was a lot of salt at the bottom, which was not mixed well into the drink.
They came out quickly with a bunch of plates of greens (mint, lettuce), vegetables (carrots, cucumber, etc), hot water, and rice paper. There were 3 sauces that we were given- 1) The sour orange Vietnamese dipping sauce usually used with vermicelli 2) A slightly spicy fish sauce and 3) a plate of hot sauce.
Shortly after that, they brought out the salad (with beef), and the beef fondue. We were confused as to how many courses there was, but we just kept eating as they came and placed more plates in front of us.
The guys were confused as to how to work with the rice paper, but I was familiar with the concept, and taught them how to wet it and roll. However, there was no instructions from the waiter or any indications of how many courses we had finished.
The fondue was confusing, with the raw beef overlapped by rings of onion - did we have to put the onions in as well? We ended up dropping piece by piece in random times, and incorporated it in our spring rolls.
The next dish to come out had three types of "sausages" and a beef-cake. The three beef sausages were 1) hawaiian tea leaf wrapped, and had a rusty flavor to it, 2) cooked onions in the middle of beef rolled and 3) a regular, grilled looking beef sausage. I don't know what their given names are, but most of us preferred the onion-sausage. These we also wrapped into our spring rolls, because there was a buttload of rice paper.
The beefcake was ground beef with some vermicelli, peas, and black fungus. I like black fungus, but for those who are unfamiliar with it or don't understand, it might be a weird chewy texture. However, the beefcake was good, and provided a change of pace to the sausages.
Lastly, we got our beef rice porridge, which was hearty and tasty. There was a good balance with the beef, cut two different ways, and green onions. The porridge is watery, which I like, but might be weird to others.
After all the courses were finished, we still had a bunch of rice paper and greens. We were impressed that we actually got full, and that the 5 orders instead of 6 were more than enough. Pricing was a breeze, since gratuity is automatically added for groups of at least 6, and the cashier was friendly when we wanted to split checks into four credit cards. We asked to take the rice paper to go, but the waiter just gave us a new batch in a plastic bag, and we just added the remaining rice paper into the bag.
It was an amazing experience that wasn't too expensive, and I'd go again, but probably not anytime soon. -

I've been going here for 7 course since they opened. I love the stinky sauce and the fact that the beef does not shrink to the microscopic level after you cook it ( like the Anh Hong on Tully). The restaurant is clean.
I normally don't eat all the courses in the 7 course option so I order full versions on the fondue, or the grill.
One the the best dishes is the honey baked catfish- since it takes 40 mins to make from the time you order it, the key is to call in the order before you arrive.
when they get really busy, the service can be very bad. You have to ask them 4 times before you even get your drink... but the food makes up for the slow service...........sometimes =)Listed in: Vietnamese food

For true carnivores, there are a myriad of ways to show your devotion and get the vegetarians running. You can visit a temple to meat, like Alexander's Steakhouse, complete with a meat locker shrine. You can indulge in your own grilled kalbi at a Korean BBQ like Brothers. Or you can even salivate over skewers of meat at a Brazilian Churascaria like Pampas.
But for true meat devotees, a stop at Anh Hong and their "7 Courses of Beef" should definitely be on that list as well.
Located in a strip mall, Anh Hong serves a variety of food, but it's their "Bo 7 Mon" or "7 Courses of Beef" that is most famous.
On a busy Saturday night, with patrons lined out the door, I had my own 7 Courses of Beef feast.
A true tribute, Anh Hong prepares beef in 7 unique ways. But whether it's salad, fondue, grilled, steamed or in soup, all are delicious and show beef's excellent variety.
The best way to enjoy such a meal is definitely with a native and I was lucky enough to have Vietnamese family friends teach such minor points as the difference between fish sauce and the overly pungent shrimp paste. While this was my second actual meal of Bo 7 Mon, Anh Hong was superior to the place I tried in SF several years ago.
Service was top notch, the meat came continuously, and even trivial fare like vegetables and lettuce were constantly supplied. All in all, it was a great meal and while waddling home, I was satisfied my devotion to meat was fulfilled for the year. -

Service wise: 3 stars
What pissed me off is that we put our name down on the list, but they didn't even use he list. Really chaps my a$$ when I have to fight with them because hey are seating people before me who arrived after me.
That said, food was delicious. We got the 7 course beef dinner. So much food for $18. I haven't been that full in awhile. Every course was delicious. I especially liked the different beef sausages and the porridge.
I will be back again, but maybe making a reservation is better. The place is packed! -

The Bo 7 mon (seven courses of beef) is fantastic, so I'm sure you don't need to hear much more about that. I'll keep this review short and sweet.
If your going with a large party, order less than the amount of people. We had a party of 7. We were warned before to order less, so we ordered the 7 courses for 6 people. It still came out to be way too much, we were stuffing our faces and literally trying to force the food down because we didn't wanna waste such deliciousness! We failed...... we ended up not finishing out plate. Also, skip the Thai tea! We asked the server what he would recommend as far as drinks go and he recommended the Thai tea. It really was pretty good, but the problem is the portions are way too small! Add in ice, and the no refill(for Thai tea) policy and your done with the drink after two sips! Water had to be our replacement for the rest of our meal.
Also brush up on your spring rolls rolling skills..... many of my springs rolls were "leaking" because I suck at rolling. -

Came here with a party of 8 for their 7 courses of beef meal. This would be my second time having this style for dinner. I have had it before at their other location in San Jose. I would have to say i like it, very different from what I'm used to. To break it down, its basically 7 various ways they cook their beef and you just make your own spring rolls with those various styles of beef. And you have a couple different dipping sauces to choose from to dip your spring rolls. One is the nuc mam the fish sauce one and the other is a potent dark sauce, i forgot what its called but its my favorite. It taste great with everything. We also had their fried fish, i thought it was pretty good. Nice sweet taste to it, reminded me of my moms cooking.
Service was just OK, didn't refill our waters or asked us if we wanted anything to drink. The workers are like robots they just bring us our veggies and food and leave. They never say a word to you unless you flag them down and ask them.
Overall the food here is great, the prices were OK. About 20 dollars per person. Service was on the slow side, decor was very nice. This spot is a must try at least once.

I've tried Ann Hong for the first time over at their Berkley location and I enjoyed the food when we were there. The Milpitas branch wasn't bad at all, I don't understand the comments saying the place was dirty. Well again as long as it's not blatant, cleanliness in a restaurant is not really my priority. After you watch a lot of cooking shows you'll realize how chef's handle your food.
The service was a little slow but other than that we enjoyed our dinner. -

This place is easy to miss driving down busy Calaveras- its in the the same stripmall as the SAVEMART.
I love the 7 courses of beef -
I don't know what changed from a few years ago - but I dont know how to order in VN, but this time the menu didn't include the raw beef slices, which I was so craving. Maybe they ordered it seperately before.
I enjoy this family style meal with 7 courses, especially having been sick and not eaten anything for a few days, my appetite was ready...
We ate and ate and ate... and seven'd and seven'd. Eventually we had to resort to just eating meat, instead of pairing it with veggies and wrapping it with noodles.
Overall the food was good, but I don't know why they sat us right next to the kitchen when there were 6 other big empty tables. If I were hosting this would be unacceptable, but as a guest, I just shut up and ate.
Advice: Pace yourself. wash your hands before you eat, there is a neat automatic hand-santizer dispenser in the bathroom.
