we no longer just get only the 7 course beef because it gets boring, and we don't like every single beef dish.

so for 4 ppl, instead we order

1- 7 course beef. bo bay mon
beef carppacio bo thai chanh- always a must get
grilled beef with rice cake bo thit bun hoi- yum yum, flavorful
egg rolls, ga gio, crunchy and super yummy, but extremely hot when it comes out, so wait!
and additional plate, sugar cane shrimp or something else. (excuse my vietglish spelling), sugar cane shrimp, u can cut into many pieces. we tried the shrimp and beef one, where the beef wraps around a shrimp, that was okay, but had onion bleh.

but this gives you wayy more variety and super filling! i really like their grilled beef, yum.

total is around $75 before tip. Way better than just getting 3-4 orders of the 7 course.

What a surprise: this innoculus looking corner restaurant with worn out business graphics, serves up some delicious food. 4 stars for the food and 3 for the slow refill of my water; but read on.

I have tried many kinds of Vietnamese food but for some reason, never the 7 Courses of Beef; yes, it is called by that moniker. It was tastey and a feast.

It's a huge amount of food; beef served barbequed 4 diff. ways with differing spices,
an interesting ground beef spiced and steamed and a salad of shredded fruit with very thin slices of boiled beef and the soup. Four different kinds of leafy veggies. And a plate of very thinly sliced raw beef for dipping in the cauldron they will put on your table. Plenty of rice papers for dipping in hot water; here's how you do it: after you dip it for 15 seconds,(make sure it is thoroughly wet) place it on your plate and fill it with various pieces of veggies and or BBQ'd meat; then wrap it all snug and dip in one of the various sauces. I liked the pineapple sauce best, mixed with some red chili. The fish sauce was ok, but second place for me.
The last round is a delicious rice soup with bits of beef and ginger; very soothing for the stomach. You better be hungry, cuz it's feast: big enough for man, but made for a woman! =)

I could go on and on; look it up on line. Better yet, drop in for The 7 Courses of Beef.

Tip: if you are allergic to peanuts, be sure to specify no peanuts.
Good fresh quality for everything, about $85 for three.

Customer service: fine, except for my water was only refilled once.
Can get noisy with families and kids happily noshing away.

Parking: tough, tip: drive up hill one block and turn right or left, usually there is parking. Free on Sundays, I think. Sketchy area after sundown.

    Bathrooms: very clean.

Let me start by saying that if you have a courage to try foreign food, be prepared to encounter a new culture. The food here is absolutely good and authentic. But just like most traditional other Vietnamese restaurants, the service is not the most important thing they focus on, or the look of the restaurant. They are attentive in their way. Their English is usually not good, so they don't say much, but they watch you from far away to make sure you eat the food right instead of coming asking " how is everything?". If you need something, just wave or call them. That is just the way it works in most casual Vietnamese restaurants.

Bottom line: If you are looking for a place to impress your date, I would not recommend it, but if you are culture curious, food adventurous, a Vietnamese food lover, you will be pleased. There are a lot of delicious traditional Vietnamese dishes here that you most likely can't get them else where in San Francisco.

Most people come for the seven-course beef, as did we. It's about $20/ person, but we only ordered 4 for the 6 of us (plus a toddler), which was plenty. My favorite course was the beef salad and the beef porridge. I thought it might be too much meat (and only meat), but there is actually a nice balance because they give you a lot of veggies on the side. Keep in mind that each type of beef sausage counts as a course; we were waiting for the last two courses without knowing that it already came!

I love organizing dinners/happy hour/no reason for get togethers because I figure, if I don't then who will?

Just mention Anh Hong on an invite to a group of yelpers, expect a lot of "I'm there!"

Then tell them, corkage is only $7 and Peter L's bringing booze! I guarantee, this is one dinner where everyone will be on time!

The 7 courses include a beef salad, beef carpaccio, grilled beef wrapped in lot leaf, grilled meatballs and beef in lemongrass, sausages and beef porridge.  We also ordered charbroiled shrimp served on sugar cane, very cute presentation!

This is a very interactive dinner, both with your friends and your food.  If you're the type who can't keep still, no problem, because your hands will be busy: rolling, wrapping, drinking, grilling, boiling, drinking, assembling, drinking.  You're brain will be busy thinking, "wonder if I should skimp on the lettuce to have more pickled carrots? (Yes)  should I put more meat in here? (Yes) is this fish sauce better than that shrimp paste? (Nope) "   I need more wine please! (hell YES!)

Anh Hong is a casual place that's great for big groups where you can easily feel relaxed, have loud conversations with your friends and stuff your face with all the delicious beef you can handle. Holy C-O-W! (pun intended!) where else can you do that for only $20.95 per person?!?

So happy that honey brought me here for our Friday night dinner.

We ordered beef, shrimp and chicken for our spring rolls. You get to roll your own spring rolls! ^___^ A tad different than La Vie, Anh Hong sets a bowl of hot water, rice paper, lettuce, mint leaves, bean sprouts, and vermicelli out for you to leave you to your own rolling. No doubt the beef, shrimp and chicken was delicious and fresh.

Ambiance is exactly like an Asian restaurant, haha. I mean that with utmost respect. Must come here and show your tummy you love it. Very filling!

Over the past few years I've eaten here numerous times and have always ordered the seven course beef dinner. The first few times I had this selection I thought it tasted great but the last 2-3 times I thought the food was just so-so. Not sure if something (chef.... ownership...recipe??) has changed. Some of my items have recently been generously stuffed with semi sautéed (ie still somewhat crunchy) onions which I didn't care for too much. I'm hoping my recent experiences were isolated as I really enjoyed the food in the past 1+ years ago.

So last weekend 14 of us went to dinner for a pals birthday. Her BF was in charge and decided we woudl go to an old haunt of his. I'm a fan most asian food - so I wasnt a hard sell. Especially with the multi-course beef dinner.

We arrived early and were immediately seated. It was a wet rainy night - yet the place was well lit and had the right balance of noise that you wanted to tuck in and enjoy.

Once we are all seated the staff got us started. all but 4 of use went with the 7-course menu - those that didnt had both meat and meat-free dishes that looked great.

Everything about this place says casual, and relaxed yet with an attention to the food. Even being some of the only white faces in the room - we were made welcome and the staff made sure all of us knew what and how to eat each course.

This is most definately a "go again" spot!

The most amazing Vietnamese food I have experienced in my life thus far! A very nice break from the typical pho establishments.

7 COURSE BEEF, BEEF CARPACCIO, GRILLED BEEF, GRILLED SHRIMP, IMPERIAL ROLLS, SPRING ROLLS, SHRIMP WONTONS, SHRIMP WRAPPED SUGAR CANE, BEEF PORRIDGE. BEEF AND SHRIMP AND VEGETABLES AND RICE PAPER AND FISH SAUCE ALL OVER THE PLACE!

I really enjoyed wrapping my own spring rolls and how they came with all the fixings you could possibly want. Though I am a more hands-on person so I could see how that could be a hassle for those who don't like to put an effort into creating their meal. Topped off dinner with a fried banana and vanilla ice cream and stumbled out of the restaurant after a whole 2.5 hrs of dining. Definitely not diet-friendly though possibly low carb!

An order of the 7-courses of beef serves two people is a good bet, as one order is just too much food for one person. Use that as a guide so you will not be stuffed, and then can also order side dishes and/or appetizers - imperial rolls and carpaccio are justifiably popular.

They carry wines and beers but corkage fee is only $7, for any bottle you bring in - even the harder stuffs. However, I normally have beers when eating this.

To me this venue feels more noodle-house than a nice sit-down restaurant but I'm there for the food (the one in San Jose - in the profile pic, lol - is nicer). And, like JasonG said, mention he (or Yelp) sent you but don't be all demanding, lol. Kent is a friendly host and the servers do their best since most visitors are group diners - the ideal way to enjoy it!

Beef..it's what's for dinner!!  And it so was a few weeks ago!  Of course we had the much talked about 7 Courses of Beef.  Of course service could be a little better, but then again, you're coming to restaurants like this for the food strictly, not for the service. As many have said, much of the meal is filled with veggies too to balance out the beef...and your diet!  Bf was pouring on the dipping sauces (vs. dipping) onto his course #2, & one of the waiters came over & scolded him saying, NO NO, not that!  7 Courses of Beef Nazi?
*Course #1: The beef salad: It was light & refreshing & veggie filled.  I don't know what part of the cow it was, but the apperance reminded me of tripe.
*Course #2: Beef fondue: Think shabu like but you make your own spring roll with the veggies, beef & vermicelli wrapper.  Simple yet tasty!
*Course #3: Meatballs mixed with nuts, mushrooms & spices.  Reminded me of pate kind of.  Served with shrimp chips.  Not bad, though I never care for Vietnamese meatballs.
*Courses #4-6: Three different kinds of grilled sausages that you also wrap up like a spring roll (though I did eat one by itself)!  One was wrapped up in Hawaiian lotus leaf, one with lemongrass and peanuts, and the other simply nekkid!  We liked the plain one the best, but they were all delicious and perfectly juicy.
*Course #7: Last but not least, beef rice soup.  Perfect for the chilly weather!  It was so flavorful yet light.

Favorite for sure would be the plain beef sausage, but the beef soup was so good too.  The whole meal was a different & delcious experience.  All that food for $22 per person is a deal.  We left stuffed and with some leftovers to take home.  Come here definetely when you're hungry & feeling carniverous!

Ok so we went to this place many times to eat.  However, on a recent visit, i noticed that they have new people working here.  The woman behind the counter is well, every unprofessional.  We saw her eating a mouthfull behind the counter and not at all interested in helping the customers.

The food is quite expensive for 7-course beef for sure.  We spent amost 300$ for five people.

The FIRE is NOT HOT enough to cook the broth for seafood hot pot incase someone is thinking of orderting the seafood dish.

Not coming back because of the bad service, there are plenty of good vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon with better service.

Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber -the two guys running the place - are the two worst "servers" I've encountered in San Francisco. I've been to so many Vietnamese restaurants that are fantastic, but this is not one of them. Tired, run down... it's what I imagine dining out was like immediately after Saigon fell.

This place was good! But the service rubbed us the wrong way.

First about the food. It was SOOOO good! We did not know that you did not HAVE to order the 7 course beef for EACH person...I guess it makes sense...it's not a all you can eat...just portions...But anyways the food was really good...and it kept coming..it was cheap and delicious! Anyways...if you have a table of 4 just order 3 of the 7 course beef. If its more girls...maybe just half the orders..get my drift....4 guys....4 orders!

What rubbed my friends and I the wrong way was that...we got a shrimp and noodle dish which was mistakenly given to us...We did not read the menu so we did not know what the courses came with...So we did take a second thought and just ate it....When we got the bill we got charged for another $14 extra...We were like, "we never ordered that" the response was, "we gave it to you by mistake and when the waiter came back to take it back...we already ate it....", why didnt they stop us or tell us in advance and just try to sneek it in our bill? The guy behind the counter gave my friend grief about it..then my other friend explained the story and they comped us...

Yes we did eat it...but it was their mistake, we honestly did not know and assumed it came with the meal.

This was my first time having the 7 course beef - it looked like most people in the restaurant ordered it, and about 99% of those customers were Vietnamese so how could we not? In actuality I was a little disappointed - I didn't know what to expect, but the portions were small (albeit filling) and the cooked pork (courses 3-6) tasted and looked like something I've made before so nothing amazing. I expected at least one course to be the raw beef salad I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants, but was disappointed that none of them were.

I would be interested in trying other restaurants' versions of the 7 courses.

This is a great place for group. Everybody in the restaurant is so nice, friendly, and funny. There were a lot of people there but it was not so loud - or may be because we were the loudest group (Oops!)

So 13 people of us ordered:
    - 8 courses of Seven Courses of Beef.
    - 2 courses of Anh Hong egg rolls.
    - 2 courses of Ta Bi Lu Nuong Vi.
    --- $26/ person including tips.

And they were just enough! The food was well done no complaining!!! I could see the egg rolls were served right away because it was so crunchy and hot.

Really, nothing to complain and we all had a good time.

Came here with some friends to try out there 7 course beef set the other night. It was surprisingly quiet for a Thur night (6:30pm). We got sat in a small corner table and immediately ordered as we were famished.

First course: Daikon / Carrot Salad with beef.
Second course: Beef rice paper roll.
Third course: BIG beef meatball w/ shrimp chips.
    Forth course: Beef sausage
Fifth course: Beef wrapped in tealeaf (?)
    Sixth course: Beef meatloaf.
    Seventh course: Beef porridge.

Everything was ok. Porridge being my favorite that night. Would of gave them 4 stars except our waiter disappeared when we wanted to get our check. After 15 minutes, we had to flag down the owner to pay. Next time I'm in the mood for beef prefix meal, I think I'll stick to Pagolac.

GO BIG OR GO HOME. That saying has never rung more true for me than at Anh Hong.  I stopped by Anh Hong to try their egg rolls and raw beef salad, and I ended up ordering the 7 courses of beef... BY MYSELF. In hindsight, it was pretty embarassing to sit there... alone... as course after course came and filled up my table.  However, at the time, I was too busy eating to care.

The 7 course beef dinner at Anh Hong is served with rice paper (and a bowl hot water to rehydrate the wrapping yourself), lettuce, mixed herbs, cucumber, bean sprouts, pickled carrots and daikon.  Aside from the first and last courses (salad and porridge), all these condiments are used to wrap up each course of beef.

    1. Beef salad: slices of cooked beef, daikon, celery, onions, herbs and peanuts in a light vinaigrette. My least favorite course. The beef had a lackluster white appearance and was a bit tough.

    2. Beef carpaccio: raw slices of beef that you cook in a broth. This was pretty good. The broth was vinegar-based and gave the beef a interesting acidic component.

3-6 were various kinds of sausages served on one plate (a grilled beef sausage wrapped in lot leaf, grilled beef rolls mixed with lemongrass and onions, grilled beef sausages, and steamed meat balls). I let out a few audible gasps during this course. These were FANTASTIC! Everything was perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. My favorite item was the grilled sausages in lot leaf.

    7. Beef rice porridge: This was just ok. Vietnamese rice porridge is not thick and gelatinous like Chinese congee. It was more like broken rice in a beef broth. It was a simple way to end a heavy, meaty meal.

Overall: I was really happy with the indulgent 7-course beef dinner at Anh Hong. After having been to Pagolac, I definitely recommend Anh Hong over Pagolac. While Pagolac may have a better ambiance, Anh Hong's beef courses were more memorable.

No Pho here, but that's not what I come here for!

I've been here many times as a kid, but never really appreciated the food until recent years. They supply the ingredients and we roll and wrap our own spring rolls. The meat selection is delicious and the condiments (veggies and herbs galore!) are always fresh. Their "Seven Courses of Beef" is highly recommended by staff...and by me. I think it's a good start if you've never been there before and want to taste a variety of their beef fillings. Not sure if you know how to roll your own wrap with rice paper? No worries, they'll show you.

    I love this place!

    Raw beef salad = awesome
Shrimp and Pork Salad = Refreshing
Shrimp w/ sugarcane = Can't get any better
The beef sausage thing = omg!
    Fish sauce = F**kin awesome

This place is so good, it's basically Vietnamese food that you kinda prepare yourself.  They give you lots of veggies and you order whatever meat you want and then you make your very own spring roll (rice paper is given).  It's a little bit of work but its so good.

The only flaw of this place is the fact that it's hard to find parking in the area of which they're located at.

Been going here since they opened and still think it's the best spot for 7 courses of beef in the East Bay. I love that they give you the option of just 3 courses, with the 3 types of beef sausages, since those usually end up being my favorites anyways.

Love the various carpaccio plates they offer with the beef and salmon being my favorites.

The quality of the meat, rice paper, and the fresh veggies always brings me back to this place and the prices are very reasonable IMO.

Service is sometimes spotty here, but for the most part everyone was friendly, and brought out all of our food quickly and frequently asked if we had any questions. The only let down was on the refills of our water.

I've heard of Bo 7 Mon for years, having grown up in Orange County and in close proximity to both Garbage Grove and Westminster. I was set to go to a Bo 7 Mon restaurant there a few years ago, but plans fell through, and another opportunity to try it never surfaced. That is, until last week.

I admit that I was more than a little excited to try Bo 7 Mon. I love beef in almost any shape or form, and would have no problem consuming nothing but steaks, Korean BBQ, shabu shabu, or any other beef related dish for every meal for the rest of my life. Thus, when I was warned that this might be beef overload, I scoffed. I am immune to beef overload.

Since I'm not Vietnamese and was a newbie to Bo 7 Mon, I was glad to have a Vietnamese friend along for the ride here. He took the time to explain how each dish should be eaten, but the long and short of it isn't much different than Korean ssam dishes - you wrap almost every meat dish except for three in rice paper, fill it with veggies of your choice, dip in sauce, and repeat. Simple enough once you get the hang of it.

My friend is also a foodie, so he explained that Bo 7 Mon arose out of the fact that in Vietnam many cows were emaciated, or at least not as fatty as our native corn fed behemoths. So, as a result, the types of beef used for Bo 7 Mon are less fatty, lean, thinly sliced, and/or ground up and mixed with spices in order to make up for the flavor that is lost as a result of the low fat content.

The first dish is the beef salad. The beef in here really isn't that great, to be honest. The dish is also overpowered by citrus and fish sauce, which, while not a bad thing, was really the only flavors to be discerned (at least to my palate).

The second dish was a fondue style beef dish. The beef slices were lean and thinly sliced, much like shabu shabu or hot pot beef slices. Since these were low on fat, even a shorter amount of time in the pot didn't give the beef the tenderness I was looking for. Still, the beefy flavor was more present here, and when wrapped in the rice paper, was quite good, if a bit chewier than I wanted it to be.

The next courses were the pate with shrimp chips, a sausage course, a beef roll with onions, and the beef wrapped in a leaf whose name I didn't catch (though other Yelpers on here refer to it simply as a Hawaiian leaf). These courses ranged from really good (sausage and roll) to decent (the pate) to not to my taste (the leaf wrapped dish). I think I finished most of the beef and onion roll myself, since I liked that one the best, and at one point was forgoing wrapping the beef sausage in rice paper because they tasted better  (to me) that way. I'm sure I committed several sins of Bo 7 Mon etiquette, but I didn't care.

I really enjoyed the dinner as a concept. I don't think I'd do the whole thing again unless I was with a big group of people, but for the most part the dishes were tasty.

I have to add that when the fried banana dessert arrived, it looked so phallic that the five year old in me couldn't resist moving the banana around on the plate so that it resembled a massive dong with two vanilla ice cream balls. I added the picture to Yelp, which is the first picture I've ever posted. Mature, I know.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!  Thanks to my friends for taking me out to celebrate with Bò 7 món!!!  What a very painful (b/c my dress felt tight afterwards), but pleasant surprise.

Actually, this was not my first experience with 7-course beef, my dear friend Daniel Le (of Re:Charge Medical & Day Spa) brought me here for our FIRST dinner together.

What I love about this restaurant, it brings people TOGETHER to bond over good food, conversation (and in my case LOTS OF LAUGHTER).  Seriously.  Friends, family and casual acquaintances  gather here and just enjoy the family-eating type of experience.

The service here is EFFICIENT.  They don't waste time with pleasantries.  If you don't understand WHAT TO DO, THEN ASK.  Or, go with someone WHO KNOWS what to do!  Or, if you're adventurous, like me, just MAKE IT UP *hahaha*...

Of course, the first time that I came here with Daniel, I didn't know how to wrap anything!  I also had this thing about using my hands to make any rolls.  It was a MESS and I took forever, so Daniel actually had to take over.  We talked and laughed and talked...

    Tonight was no different.

If you never have had 7-course beef, here is the Wiki Link for what to expect:

    http://en.wikipedia.or...

I love that the restaurant employees didn't rush us and they let us be total Asians and steal the extra-veggies to go with our leftovers...

Oh and they were sweet and let my friends bring in an outside birthday cake.

Lots of love to this restaurant and to my friends.

I feel bad for giving 1 star, but I do feel like "Eek! Methinks not."

Super uncomfortable atmosphere for me. It was way too dark.

I hate paying for hot tea especially at $0.75 per pot when it is free at other Vietnamese restaurants. I tried the 7 course beef and grilled chicken rice plate. I did not taste any beef from the beef salad. I do not like to wrap fondue beef. I HATE sausages, and if you give me 3 kinds of sausages then I am just not interested. I honestly thought that the 3 kinds of sausages were only one course since it came all at once. Beef porridge was nothing special just more watered down and more ginger compared to Chinese style beef porridge. As for the rice plate, I absolutely hate frozen peas, corns, and carrots in my rice... it is such a turn off, and I did not take a single bite of it.

Service was very good...but I would not go back to a restaurant for service, so it really does not matter.

Looking for a Vietnamese restaurant tonight and picked this one randomly. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived so we knew it had to be good. Yes, the food was really good.

Food - Yum..Vietnamese coffee (sugary yum!)

Service - well, it honestly felt like they either didn't want us there...

Will we go back? No. There are plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood.

This is my family's go-to place  for Bò 7 Món, we love it! During my most recent trip to Anh Hong Restaurant we ordered 3 portions of the Bò 7 Món, this was more than enough for the four of us!

My favorite of the 7 dishes are Bò lá lot (beef wrapped in lolot leaf), Bò nuong mo chài (ground beef rolled in pork belly), and the Cháo Bò (beef rice porridge). Can't forget the Mam Nem Sauce (Anchovy Sauce)!! My faveee =)

The service is attentive and courteous. The waiters are very efficient and it was great that they never rushed our meal.

I would be cautious what you decide to wear to eat Bò 7 Món because it can get very smelly, especially when the place is packed.

This is my go-to-spot for bo 7 mon in San Francisco, and while I've had better in the the South Bay, making the 40 minute drive just sometimes isn't in the cards when I can walk here in all of 15 minutes whenever I''m hit with a craving. Like most other casual Vietnamese spots, it makes up for the lack of decor/location with some great food at fairly reasonable prices and surprisingly decent service [tonight one of the waiter's was teaching a first-time couple how to make the perfect roll...pretty funny when he told them the sweet anchovy sauce was "coffee" and then they smelled it...gotta love the crinkled nose look...my wife and I however can drink that sauce like a fishy smoothie - new Jamba Juice flavor perhaps?].

Overall just a fun place where you can actually play with your food, get your hands dirty, and not get yelled at by mom.

we had a table of 12 and we all did the 7 course of beef special which is $20.95 per person.  The first dish was the beef salad, then came the hot pot beef made into spring rolls, then the beef congee, then the beef vermicelli cake, and then 3 different beef sausages that are made into more spring rolls.  I'd say it was good food overall, the beef cake was the best one, probably because they use lard in making it (told to me by my expert foodie friend).  I really like the sausages and spring rolls in general, so I'd say I am a fan of the 7 course beef.

The service here was okay, at times they were attentive but sometimes they weren't even looking our way.  Make reservations here, it can get busy around dinner time.

Love this restaurant for the 7 courses of beef. My favorite course is always the first, simply because I love dipping the rice paper in water, adding veggies, and wrapping. I could do simply veggie versions too.

The parking here is a bit tricky if you drive a decent car as it is in the middle of TL. Also, don't except fancy service here. It definitely helps to have someone who speaks Viet here with you. The staff are much nicer then and you can more easier flag them down for refills on rice paper, veggies, hot water, etc. I prefer this place to Pagolac as it's less upscale and more down to earth. They also have round tables where family style is the way to go!

I'm sure there are plenty of reviews of the 7-course beef at Anh Hong so I won't go into that.  I will say that my favorite dish was the beef porridge - so comforting, loved it!  The waiter must serve tons of these 7-course dishes daily but not being all that experienced with it, I wish he could've been a little bit more patient with us.  He just sort of brought them, grunted a lot and didn't take time to answer any questions.

I didn't know that we could ladle the hot water/vinegar that we had cooked thin strips of beef and onions earlier to drink like a soup.  He mumbled, 'do you want this, do you want me to ladle this out for you' very impatiently and then took off with the soup before we could make up our minds.  Ok...that was not impressive.  I might give Anh Hong another chance as lots of friends talk so highly of this place, but I think I would go back to Pagolac first.

Came here with a bunch of friends for the 7 course beef menu! We sat at a giant round table with a lazy susan in the middle. We really had no idea what we were in store for! The food was pretty good, heavy on the sausage for my taste but definitely worth the money and a fun experience! Can't say I'd be back anytime soon though...

I love Vietnamese food, always have.  Lots of leafy greens, meat and plenty of spices.  I usually get the "do it yourself" wraps with rice paper.  I change up my meat options and always enjoy the meal.  I have yet to try the 7 courses of beef, but I will one day soon.  When that day happens, life will be complete.

    Too much.
    Definitely wasn't feeling it.
    So.
Not much eating for me going on.
If you're crazy about loads & loads of beef, you'll probably like it.
    As for me..........nope.

Seven 7 Courses of Beef (bo mon). Just the name alone sold me.

For $18,95 pp, you get the following:

    1) beef salad - loved it! totally refreshing with shredded daikon, carrots, and sprouts.
    2) thin beef slices - served in a vinegar broth, you should quickly eat this as it cooks super fast in the hot soup.

The next 4 items are all served together on a plate. They are all made with ground beef, seasoned different ways. I liked them since they all had different flavors.
    3) beef wrapped in leaf (kind of like a dolma but full of ground beef)
    4) beef rolled around lemongrass
    5) beef sausages
    6) beef meat balls
    7) beef porridge - nice hot, and honestly by this course, I was so stuffed I could barely eat half of it. But it was gold, with ginger notes.

Everything is served with fresh vegetables: rice paper, lettuce leaves, carrots, sliced cucumbers, daikon, sprouts, fresh mint, basil, and other Vietnamese herbs. You roll everything inside the rice paper and dip it in the sweet tangy fish sauce, and just EAT! It's filling but you feel good eating all these veggies.

We were greedy and even ordered the Chao Tom ($13.50), which are shrimp paste balls wrapped around sugar canes. You get 3 of them along with rice noodles and a side daikon salad. You're supposed to cut up the shrimp and size them down to fit your spring rolls that you make. Those were good too but honestly with the 2 of us, the 7 courses of beef would have been plenty.

Such a great experience. Gotta try it. Come with clean hands and get ready to get dirty!

Fresh. Delicious. And plentiful. I've been searching for these Vietnamese rice paper wrap dishes since I left Boston years ago. Not a place for Pho (they don't have it) but if you're a fan of the wraps you make yourself, you will be thrilled. They serve plenty of beautiful basil and other greens, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber and the perfect dipping sauce. I had the grilled shrimp with rice cakes.

I also started with a small chicken soup which hit the spot and had a very nice broth that wasn't greasy or too salty.

The service is a little abrupt but I get the feeling the waiters do care about your experience. At one point, one waiter came over silently, as I was eating, and moved this large cup of dipping sauce away from me. At first I thought, hey....I'm using that, but then I saw that he was filling a small monkey dish with it and showing me the proper way to use it. Without a word, he left the table.

One of the best meals I had while visiting SF.

SO much fun. Seven-course beef, big group of people, and a very hands-on meal!

    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*
    *Fry, dip, fill, roll*

And that's only one of the seven courses.......................... YESSS.

I walked (stumbled? rolled?) away stuffed to the brim and sublimely satisfied. Totally worth the sketch walk through the Tenderloin. I can't wait to come back!!!
