Orlando, FL
Top 2 on my list for best Viet Restaurant in Orlando vs Pho Saigon. Why do you see Vietnamese tourist eating here? Because they know it's the right spot to eat at!
I am Vietnamese and this is by far my go to place for viet food. This is based on having been to Pho Saigon, Pho 88, and Little Saigon.
This is what I recommend everyone to try.
Appetizers: Goi (papaya salad) with beef jerky or pork & shrimp one, Raw Beef w/tripe and rice chips, goi cuon (summer rolls), winter rolls, and banh beo.
Entrees: Bun Thit Nuong w/sugar cane paste or eggrolls, Com(rice) with short ribs, Hot Pot (Lau), and Banh Mi Dac Biet
I have tried a lot more dishes but those were my favorites. Anh Hong takes traditional vietnamese food and puts their own twist to it with wonderful unique flavors. The flavors in their salads/appetizers are so amazing!
The pho and bun bo hue dishes were not my favorite but they are not bad. I recommend Pho Saigon for that.
Decor is good, place is kind of small so there is always a constant flow of diners, and service is great. -
Review from Mark E.
This restaurant really took me to school and allowed me to try new flavors that I had never experienced before. The soups are incredible, as well as the summer rolls. I recommend trying the 'thai tea' as well. Delicious.
If you are looking for an authentic Southeast Asian dining experience, this is it. -

This could've been great until the pricing we got whammied with! Food is good for being from Bolsa ourselves and service was good too.
Canh Chua Ca was good but $20, Bo Luc Lac was chewy and not very flavorful for $16, Summer n Spring Rolls were good and the best deal at $2.50, Rau Muong Xao Toi was delicious for $10, Tom Thit Rim was $18 and ok.
If you are fiending for home food then this is the place but check the prices, and they did accomodate our party of 15 with no problem as well. -

When we're in town we come here for breakfast! Yeah, pho for breakfast. :)
They have one of best Pho I ever tried! ( I tried Pho in DC, LA, ATL, NYC and in Vietnam.) The broth is flavorful w/OUT being oily and salty. The noodles are just the right consistency... not too chewy or soft. They also give you plenty of herbs, lime wedges, jalapenos pepper slices, & bean sprouts.(Which I personally love a lot of in my pho!) I always get the small meatballs and tendons pho and my husband gets the extra large meat w/ tripe pho.
They also have lots of boba tea and dessert selections. I ordered the Cafe Sua Da ( Vietnamese Iced Coffee) boba smoothie with just jelly. It's not on the menu but the waiter took care to make it just the way I like it! We also treated ourselves and had the Cha Dau (Vietnamese pudding with white beans and sticky rice in coconut milk) I asked the waiter to make the pudding cold and the coconut milk warm! Yummy...he even added crushed peanuts on it for us! What a great way to end a delicious meal.
We will be back when we're in town again! -

Great Vietnamese food. Large menu with good selection. Love the bubble smoothies, especially the mango.

Yummy banh mi sandwiches but lacking in other areas. The rice vermicelli salads do not have enough veggies. All of their boba drinks are made from powdered stuff. There are better Vietnamese lunch places near by.

Today was a first for me. No, I've been to Anh Hong before, but today was the first time a cilantro stem went up my nose while eating a bahn mi. I didn't eat the stem.
The vegetarian bahn mi was an afterthought, because I thought my main course would be small. This "French Sub Delight" was loaded with fresh vegetables and the French bread seemed to be just out of the oven. ($2.50, how do they do that?)
One Viet item I've missed since going veggie is the French Pancake with pork, but I've always eaten it as an appetizer instead of as a main course. This vegetarian version, Banh Xeo Chay, was LOADED with cilantro, mint, sprouts, tofu, cucumbers and other delights, mostly placed on the side.
It was a bit unwieldy to eat after adding the greens. In fact I was only able to eat less than a third of the "stuffings" that were served. Any more than that would have made it the size of George Costanza's wallet.
The music was schmaltzy (Air Supply, Celine Dion), but I'll forgive them for that.
We sure are lucky to have a vibrant Vietnamese community in Orlando. We're mentioned in Wikipedia, look it up!Listed in: Pho the love of Vietnam

I love the food and prices here. There was some dishes in their menu that i have not seen in other vietnamese menu before so they seem to serve very authentic food, Just the way i like it.
I had a soda drink that had eggs, Condensed milk and other stuff i can't remember the name but it was delicious lol.
The service was kinda of slow and waitress could not speak english very well which is usually an indication that the place it's authentic as it gets and that is always a plus in my book. She spoke enough to communicate.
Prices are fare.
I want to go back and try more food here :) -

Yuuuuuuuuuuuum!!
That's the first thing my mind screamed when I took a bite out of my 'Com Thit Nuong' but I'll get to that later; let me tell you all how it began:
I have to admit that I did feel a little awkward when I walked in and it was like everyone turned around at the same time to look at me, but then a waitress with a wide smile invited me to sit down and they brought me a water with lemon right away without me even asking.
The initial treatment made me feel a lot better and I was brought a menu where I browsed over the many food items they had. I was a bit lost because I had no idea where to even start. Everything looked good and I saw various people eating Pho, and one couple had like this portable stove on their table with a pot of hot stew cooking, it was a bit overwhelming for a first timer like me but luckily the waitress was very patient and asked me what I like and that's how I ultimately ended up ordering the Com Thit Nuong with chicken.
It's pretty much white rice, with grilled chicken, and a salad made up of green onions, pickled diakon radish, carrots, cucumber, lettuce, and tomatoes.
I LOVE the fact that they thinly sliced the garlic and fried it perfectly and added that over the chicken making for a crunchy and very tasty topping. It was paired off with a sweet sauce that came in a separate small bowl and I'm still not sure what it was but it was absolutely delicious!!!
The food was great, the service was great, I'm still unsure about the tv programming they had set up encouraging people to buy pills that will make your bones strong or some nonsense, it just kept repeating over and over again, but who cares; I had a date with my Com Thit Nuong and that's all I cared about.
I shall return. -

I discovered Ahn Hong when I went to the camera store next door and the smell of the food was so tentalizing , I walk in was greeted by Cindy with a beautiful smile with suggestions based on what I might like.
thus began my love affair with this resto.
My mother has always told me if you see lots of local at a resto waiting to eat chances are the food is very good.
Once again she was right, there's not much of a decor, but then again I'm more interested on the food freshness, creativity, authenticity.
Which Ahn hong delivers.
My Favo are the spring rolls with the creamy peanut dipping sauce.
Bahn mi, #91, #92.
Stay away from the fried fish it's humongous and greasy hence the reason it's called fried lol.
I've returned numerous times and Cindy is always very gracious and most of the staff speak English :)
You can't go wrong at Ahn Hong. -

Good food and service.
I have eaten there on several occasions my cc give me mileage pts. The menu is big so there is a lot of variety. Everyone can get what they want to eat. Decor wise it needs a facelift. I like lots of veggies and tend to order vegetarian where as the rest of the family can eat chicken if they want to. -

Orlando, FL
For starters- every table has all kinds of spicy condiments on them but I was especially impressed by the chop sticks and Pho spoon wrapped with a paper napkin to look like a Lilly at every seat.
Immediately greeted with a huge smile. I began with tea, shrimp & pork summer roll (#2) aptzr. The ice Jasmine tea, is deliciously served with a lime.
As for the summer roll - perfectly fresh, delicious and as good as I have ever had. The peanut sauce was smooth and creamy and garnished with chopped peanuts. The Beef and Pork Pho - absolutely amazing! Fresh basil, mint, iceburg, bean sprout, peanut, cucumber, green onion, carrot, vermicelli, and a spring roll cut up inside of it. simply fantastic and served with a vinegar condiment for some extra zing.
The restaurant is small and attention to detail was paid. I wasn't expecting much when I walked in there, but what I got was a hot, fast, traditional Vietnamese meal made with a lot of care.
Anh Hong is almost a no frills type of restaurant. They are not fancy but they care. You know how I know? My soul told me. -

I've been trying all the Pho places around here to find the best, and I just did! These guys have the best broth out of all of them and that's the key to a good Pho.
Also, if you've ever had tendon and hated it or never had it before, have it here. They do it the way it's supposed to be done and it's amazingly good. -
Review from Jeff O.
I like this cornerstone restaurant A LOT.
The pork BBQ Banh Mi ($3.95) is my favorite. The pork tastes freshly grilled and it's seasoned just right. The bread is perfectly crunchy and soft all at once. And the crisp, cold vegetables inside are ace. The sub may not be filling enough on it's own for most people, so consider ordering something else to go with it. Bubble tea, or an appy. Summer rolls are always good too, but those are hard to mess up. They're about the same everywhere.
I found the service to be good actually, but it was slow. Maybe when it's busy there is mayhem afoot. You be the Judge Judy and executioner.
Only minor complaint is the cacophony of sounds and sights I had to endure on a recent visit. The house music on it's own would be fine, but playing music along with a TV showing Nascar at full volume was ridiculous. Not to mention 2 or 3 other TV's showing football games. Too much shit going on, Baby Doc. -

Thank you Elite YELPERS !!
We found this place via a YELP search for excellent eats when we were in Orlando.
All we can say is WOW..what a true authenticate experience.
Food was excellent.
Service was excellent (Thuien was her name I think) made us feel like we had been there many times and were their VIPs.
Prices..what can we say other than WHAT A DEAL..3 shrimp summer rolls (we like the non-fried summer rolls not the fried spring rolls) for $3 that $1 each..can we say WOW. served with a peanut satay sauce..mmm good.
Afterward told our Orlando friends where we dined..they said..oh you went to little Saigon area..and it truly is..what a great place we never knew about to find authenticate Vietnamese food. -
Review from Mark N.
came for lunch on an amazingly cold day when temps in the morning were in the 30s and tried the pho soup and the spring rolls, both were great! reasonable prices. This is a nice place, simple inside but nice, the staff are friendly and courteous. I used to live near a Vietnamese neighborhood in Albuquerque , NM and have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in California, this place seemed at least as good as most I have tried there. The neighborhood around the Mills and Colonial intersection has several other Vietnamese restaurants which I have not yet tried, so can't compare this with the Orlando competition, I imagine those places are good too.

Craving Banh Mi? Anh Hong is the place to go. If you don't mind waiting, that is. Prices, at $4, can't be beat & the sandwiches are pretty amazing.
If you're looking for a more authentic Banh Mi I'd say you should head over to Boston Bakery, though their erratic hours, cash only service & lack of air conditioning are a buzz kill. Anh Hong is the place to go if you're looking for bologna instead of head cheese & a great Tofu option.
Seriously, though, be ready to wait a good 15-20 mins or so...Longer if you're ordering more. At least they have air conditioning, though. -

I love the pho here. I used to go down the street, but the restaurant I used to frequent seems to have watered down their broth. I stopped into Anh Hong once and now it's my go-to Vietnamese place in Orlando.
The pho is great; the fresh young coconut water in the coconut is a MUST for everyone. The salt and pepper squid is also fantastic.
The service is very friendly, although it's not a quick place to eat.
And seriously -- try the coconut. -
Review from Ken L.
In my opinion, just average Vietnamese food.
Had the following:
Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef soup. Nothing special and the broth lacked the depth of richness you get from properly cooked stock. The noodles were way too soft as well. Ho hum.
Mi hieu tieu thap cam, egg noodle and glass noodles combo. I would order this one again if I ever came back. Pretty good.
Also always I order Vietnamese coffee and YES it was well made. A tiny dose of vanilla makes a HUGE difference when added to the condensed milk. -

$2.50 veggie Banh Mi subs, and they're delicious. I always order two, not because they're small but because at that price, I can't afford NOT to get two.
I've also had tofu/vegetable/rice dishes here in the past and have been satisfied with them. The atmosphere isn't great (but bless their hearts, they try) but the staff has always been friendly. The menu is massive, so chances are you'll find something you like here. -

Take out is amazing here, too. They give you everything that you can possibly need to eat your food including sauces, fork, spoon, chopsticks. The only things that I would change:
The walk in from the parking lot. You have to walk by dumpsters that are often foul-smelling and have flies buzzing around. The door to the restaurant itself could be marked better, as I have accidentally walked into the kitchen a couple of times. -
Review from Walter S.
Of all the Vietnamese restaurants in the Colonial/Mills District, Anh Hong has been our go to spot for Vietnamese Cuisine.
Their food is always remarkably fresh and hasn't let us down on any of our numerous visits. There was a 2 month period where my girlfriend and I were there nearly every week! The foremost reason we go is their grilled pork Banh Mi. Honey glazed chunks of pork, pickled daikon radish and carrots, crisp cucumber, fresh cilantro and fish sauce all come together for a truly scrumptious sandwich. I'm confident enough to say that if you try one from Anh Hong, you're liable to go back for another at some point.
In addition to Banh Mi, Spring or Summer rolls are mandatory as an appetizer. The Summer rolls are like putting a mini Vietnamese pork/shrimp salad in your mouth. Light, airy, fresh. The accompanying peanut sauce goes great with it. The other menu items we've had are their Pho, chicken and pork platters. Their Pho is bright and delicious, but I can't quite say it's the best in town. Their various chicken and pork platters we've had were cooked to perfection. Accompanied by fresh, crunchy vegetables and steamy white rice.
Whenever I finish a meal at Anh Hong, I'm left feeling revitalized. Not only do I feel satiated, but I also feel renewed.
What adds to the experience is their very friendly customer service. Orders are usually called ahead and I'm always greeted by Cindy upon arrival. A very gracious, congenial host who loves to share knowledge of their cuisine. On more than one occasion, she's offered freebies to try while waiting to pick up the order! For example, the baseball sized Banh Bao. A large dumpling/steamed bun stuffed with seasoned pork, onion and a quartered hard boiled egg. It tastes delicious and is cheap! I believe it was $1.00 or $1.50. It's great on the go, cheap and surprisingly filling. She's also given a free selection of boba teas they have stored in the fridge right in front of the register. Oh man, they're incredibly Delicious. I can see how these things can be addicting (as she so proudly stated). It's also not unusual for her throw in a free diet coke with an order. Bless her heart.
Anh Hong is my default setting for Vietnamese Cuisine. I wish Yelp allowed partial stars because this place would definitely earn 4.5 stars. -
Review from Alex E.
I have only had the Pho and Bahn Mi here, but both of those have been very good.
The prices are very cheap for both items. Don't get the large unless you're sharing it or are very, very hungry. The normal size is huge enough.
Service is friendly, sometimes a little bit slow.
Try some of the choices from their extensive drink menu. Fresh coconut juice served inside the coconut is a nice treat. -

I haven't been here in years. I went because I has the enjoy the city coupon. However I was pleasantly surprise with the dish I had: shaken beef over rice and vegetables (I forgot exact name). The beef is tenderly cooked and the sauce is not overly sweet. I would definitely come back just for that dish.

Review from Bryan A.
Started off with the summer rolls...pretty dang good. Their larger than other places and with these, you can actually taste the pork and the shrimp in them individually They were really good.
I ordered the Beef and Flank Pho. The beef came out a lil over cooked. I think the soup was a lil too hot when they put the beef in because it over cooked in the soup. The flank was basically all fat, was kind of disappointing. Needless to say, the noodles were cooked perfectly and didn't stick together. Overall the pho was alright.
I also split a vegetable fried rice. It was very good. Lots of egg and veggies in it. I would definitely order again. -
Review from Evan H.
While in Orlando, FL for a business trip, I decided to stop in to Anh Hong for a quick Pho Lunch. It appeared to be the highest rated Vietnamese joint in the little enclave of Asian restaurants.
The place is pretty small, about 12-15 tables and decorated like I want my Pho places to be decorated - not much on the walls so they can concentrate on making my pho. I don't really expect much when it comes to service at these types of places, just as long as they are attentive.
My order was taken quickly, but it really seemed like they were shocked that someone that wasn't Vietnamese would eat here. They even brought me a fork and when i told them I didn't need it, gave me a weird look. Look buddy, this isn't my first rodeo, I've had dozens and dozens of bowls of your delicious soup, just let me eat in peace.
The broth here was quite tasty, and very clear upon arrival. It wasn't murky or overly oily. The sauces added a nice flavor and the beef was very tender. I only got the Pho Bo, just to keep it simple. Its very cheap too, only $6 for a large, though i dont think they had a small size.
If you are ever in orlando with a pho craving, this is your spot. -
Review from Hang T.
This is the first Vietnamese restaurant that I ate at where I felt like the minority. There were more non-Vietnamese people than Vietnamese which was pretty interesting.
First off, service wasn't that great. It might have been that we were in the corner and they forgot about us, but I saw them giving a lot more attention to their regular patrons than us tourists. Eventually had to flag one of the girls down. That's strange because usually you can't get the waiters at Vietnamese restaurants to give you enough time to look at your menu since they are always hovering at your table.
I ordered the egg noodle soup which was good. Had a good amount of spice and flavor, but I thought their portion was too small and they only have one size you can get. I would have totally gotten a large. The small is too small.
We also had the grilled beef with rice. Everything was way too salty and the meat was tough. My mouth was just so overwhelmed by the constant attack of salt after a while. The only good thing about that meal was the vegetables on the side and the broth that helped bring down the salt.
The pho was not great. The broth could be compared to tea. You know with tea, you get all the flavor at the end of the sip. Same with the broth. It tasted all watered down until the very end of the sip where all the spices kicked in at the end.
I still haven't found good Vietnamese food in Florida. -
Review from Michelle K.
Orlando, FL
I want to love this place, but I don't. I love the location and the fact that I can walk to it. I love the city-like, corner joint feel it has. I like how small it is inside. It possesses an authenticity from the waitstaff to the decor to the clientele.
My first experience there was sub par. I tried the tofu with lemongrass and chili. The tofu wasn't very firm and the dish's more subtle flavors were overpowered by the excessive lemongrass. The sweet and sour soup was too thick and wasn't equally balanced.
My next visit to Anh Hong was incredible--the tofu with mixed vegetables and garlic sauce was delicious. The tofu was still mushy but the flavor of the sauce compensated for the mushiness. I asked our gracious server for extra sauce and he kindly brought out it. We also enjoyed a Durrian Fruit smoothie and a Taro pudding with coconut milk and rice. The dessert and drink was WONDERFUL. I want to return just to try every single drink and dessert.
Tonight, I went for the third time and was very disappointed. I tried the rice vermicelli noodles with tofu and vegetables. The noodles were cooked perfectly but the flavor was incredibly lacking. I used the Siracha and soy sauce on the table to add more flavor--that made it worse.
If I ate meat, I'd probably be happier--but there's something about the tofu at Anh Hong.
I'll definitely go back because I like the place...and it has potential for me. Many others rave about it, so they're doing something right and I can feel it....I'll keep searching for the meal that makes me return with smiles -

I love their Seafood Chrispy Noodle. Delicious. By far, the best restaurant in Orlando for me. Unlike California, there's not many good ones out here. I see they got lots of award here. Overall: great value, great food, and great service.

Anh Hong appears to be a family restaurant. The clean interior is a nice surprise since the exterior is kind of dumpy. The waitress (daughter?) was super nice. The man (father?) not so much. He was gruff and abrupt.
We had banh xeo, pho, com thit Bo nuong, banh mi thit nuong, and Che Ba mau for dessert. Everything except for the pho was yum ( banh xeo was extra yummy bc it was so, so crispy). The pho came out lukewarm ( blech). The pho @pho88 down the street is better. But that's the only dish at pho88 that is better. So only go there if you want pho. Go to Anh hong for everything else. -
Review from Jenn N.
My bf & I decided to try this place because we were in Florida for a week & were starting to crave VIETNAMESE FOOD like crazy. After seeing the good yelp reviews, we decided to give this place a shot.
This restaurant is truly a hole in the wall-- a very SMALL hole in the wall. We came in around lunch time & it was pretty busy. We ordered immediately after we got seated because we were starving & could barely wait to eat. I ordered #91, which is rice with short ribs, steamed eggs, sunny side up egg & shredded pork. I asked the waiter to leave out the shredded pork. My bf ordered the shrimp fried rice & also the eggrolls as an appetizer. This place is JUST like any other Vietnamese restaurants-- nothing special, except for a few things that made me rate this place so low :
1) Our appetizer (which was TWO ITTY BITTY EGG ROLLS) came out after 30 MINUTES & our main dishes didn't come out till ONE HOUR LATER. -- I know this because I kept track of the time & we waited & waited & waited.. They were pretty busy for lunch, but ONE HOUR was pretty ridiculous! I've never waited so long for food before. Not to mention we were starving & we picked this place to eat before we left for the airport & the hour long wait actually made us late & nearly missed our flight.. We sat there for the longest time contemplating whether or not to just leave & get some fast food :(
2) The water tasted really funny. They put a lime in there-- which is usually fine with me, but it didn't taste like lime. Also, the water wasn't cold. WARM, LIMEY, damp-tasting water is just nooot good =/ but honestly, how can you mess up on water? It's just ice & water. ICE & WATER!!!
3) They didn't clean their tables that well because my arm that was resting on the table ended up smelling like FISH SAUCE even before our food arrived.
4) When the food DID finally come out, it wasn't tasty. I don't even know how this place got such good reviews.. My short ribs were mostly all burnt to ash, my sunny side up was FRIED & super oily, the steamed egg was flavorless & was nothing like what I've eaten before & they forgot that I asked for NO shredded pork! :( My bf never complains about his food because he's not really a picky eater.. but he took 2 bites of his shrimp fried rice & went up to pay so we could leave. His fried rice wasn't even fried. It was also very bland & kinda soggy like the rice wasn't cooked right. We couldn't believe how bad the food was.
We were so anxious to eat at this place, but we left very very disappointed & frustrated because we waited so long & the food was definitely NOT worth it. Maybe we came on a bad day-- but it doesn't even matter because we're never ever coming back. -
Review from Nick J.
Anh Hong had the standard cafeteria-feel of most other Viet restaurants in the area (except Lac Viet). Since I've come to expect that, it doesn't really bother me anymore, I kind of like it in a weird way. Sort of like how I started really liking the vuvuzela's midway through the 2010 World Cup...
Moving on --
Shrimp/Pork Summer Rolls - 2.5/5
Peanut Sauce - 2.5/5
-- both average, satisfactory if you're in the mood, but not life-changing.
Bahn mi #16 - jambon (ham)... - 3.5/5 -- good
Bahn mi #17 - grilled pork - 5/5 - EXCELLENT!
-- Both sandwiches came on perfectly warmed, soft buns, which weren't too bready so that the ingredients could really shine.
Grilled Pork Bun (rice vermicelli) - 3.5/5 - good, but would try something new before repeating
Pho #? (Spicy beef/pork egg noodle soup) - 4.5/5 - the broth looked fiery hot, but wasn't too overwhelming. Great flavor, lots of meats. As ordered it came with egg noodles, but next time I would substitute rice noodles (personal preference).
Get the grilled pork Bahn Mi sandwich and the Spicy beef Pho and you will leave very happy! -
Review from Steve L.
It was so good the first time, we came back a few days later. This time around, it wasn't crowded. Because it rained most of the day, all of had a craving for something soupy.
We started with Goi Cuon Tom Chit, or fresh spring rolls with pork and shrimp. Pretty, and pretty refreshing with the fresh vegetables and noodles.
-Pho ga: Ordered for the kids. Good as last time. I helped them finish off the chicken.
-Bun Rieu: This is a shrimp, crab, fresh tomato, vermicelli soup. According to the waiter who served us, they do a pretty preparation of this soup. I didn't try it, but the 3 other adults ordered this and really liked the rich broth, and the abundance of vegetables on the accompanying plates.
-Bun Bo Hue: pork and beef brisket, Vietnamese bologna, spicy soup with blood cake (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Lots of meat in this soup, and a very hearty broth. Soup wasn't too spicy for me, but was still very good.
-Papaya salad with ham and beef: Meat was julienned with the papaya. Slight tartness added to the refreshing taste of this salad.
Once again, this place didn't let us down.Listed in: Thank you Yelp, Land of the Mouse

Thank you!!!!!! This place is the best. Food= awesome-- fresh, authentic, large portions- we share everything-- and cheap.Wrap your own summer rolls, shrimp paste, noodles, glazed pork bites, lots of fresh vegetables and basil leaves. Delicious dipping sauces. Pho is pretty good- broth is a little weak. This place is nothing fancy, but i like to go during lunch time or late afternoon. Plus there's an asian market next door so I can go shopping for noodles and such afterwards. Service is always friendly and fast. Love. It.

Review from Mimi G.
We have been to Anh Hong a few times now and it has been a learning experience for me. The trouble with trying an ethnic cuisine that is unfamiliar to you is that even though there may be descriptions on the menu of the various dishes, they don't always help if you have no frame of reference from which to pull. Such was my demise on our first visit here. Very willing to try and help, our server was a young cheerful girl who unfortunately struggled to find adequate translations. Suffice it to say that Vietnamese "bolony" does not have the first name O*S*C*A*R.
My first time I tried the #8 for an appetizer - described as a steamed round cake with shrimp, pork, onion and the house special sauce on the side. I thought that it would be something akin to the dim sum style steamed dumplings I like at Chinese restaurants. ...Not so much.
What came were two small dishes with what I can only describe as something the consistency of overcooked custard but with no real flavor. This rice flour "pudding" was topped with pulverized powdered shrimp & pork bits along with a few pieces each of fresh and fried chopped scallions. The special sauce looked like rice vinegar with a few pepper flakes and scallions added in but it was more sweet than sour to the taste. Overall, I didn't hate this appetizer but it is not something I would ever order again.
My soup, # 75 on the menu, was described as hot and spicy with the above referenced "bolony", plus beef, pork, brisket & onions. Yes I was being adventurous with the bolony but the rest sounded pretty safe. ... Not so much.
What came out was a dark brothed soup, glistening with red chili oil, that had a deep somewhat sour, bitter and downright unpleasantly harsh flavor. The bolony had no real flavor on its own but that which came from the broth while the slices of beef and pork were also flavorless yet incredibly fatty.
Since I was having such good luck we opted to try some bubble tea for dessert. Bubble Tea or Boba originated in Taiwan back in the 80's. This now trendy drink is a sweet concoction made with fresh fruit or tea, milk and crushed ice served with black tapioca pearls sitting in the bottom of a clear cup. It's ... well ... an acquired taste.
I order the black tea with milk version. I usually drink my tea black without sugar, this was sweetened with lots of honey and mixed with full fat milk which I might have handled until that first sip through the mega straw brought a gummy black marble sized piece of tapioca into my mouth. You drink this overly sweet beverage while chewing on the gelatinous lumps that land in your mouth. Unusual to say the least.
My husband enjoyed his soup #51 on the menu; a Pho style beef broth based soup with sliced beef and meatballs. I simply misordered - a risk you take whenever you try something new and different. On subsequent visits I tried #54 or Pho Ga - a Beef broth based soup with chicken. This was much more to my taste with a satisfyingly flavorful broth. Marty tried a #90 rice platter with short ribs, which were very tender and nicely sauced. I even tried a different melon flavored bubble drink with much better results.
If Vietnamese food is your thing - you will love this place for its authenticity. If you are new to Vietnamese cuisine - don't be scared to keep trying until you discover something you enjoy. With over 200 items on the menu - you are bound to find something! I did. -

Finger lickin good
I have encountered my experience finally after reading multiple fan reviews I wanted to land my opinion ship. ..I parked in the back where Lil saigon is located and went through the back entrance in the alley way at first so got slighty lost until I smelled food. Decided to follow the scent and got placed in mouth watering food heaven. Although it is smaller than the other restaurants around the food makes makes up for that downfall. They have pho, rice vermicelli, rice plates, spring rolls..fresh food central for under 10 bucks mainly.
I ordered #91 rice plate with a boba milk tea...The rice was PERFECT if I could have rice like that everyday with a sunny side egg, pork chop, and veggies I would die a happy camper. The pork chops where just super yummy... seasoned very delicious. The whole rice plate made up for the boba tea that almost gave me a sugar attack. Next time I shall try water to save myself, but overall this place gets a you must try approval on my end of the stick.Listed in: Boba Loca, Whats the Pho-ness?

GREAT CHEAP EAT!
I am from Westminster, CA; commonly referred to as Little Saigon of America. I eat some of the best Vietnamese food restaurants have to offer. I've had the good, the bad and the ugly. Anh Hong is for sure one of the best Vietnamese places I've eaten. The decor is cute and they have won numerous awards for their tasty dishes. They have over a few hundred items on their menu which shoes the diversity and talent of their chefs. The next time I go to Orlando again, this place is going to be my first stop!
