I used to be a regular here; of course, working in Deep Ellum lent me that privilege.
I pretty much only get a few things on the menu: the club sandwich with no ham, double turkey, extra crispy bacon and mustard instead of mayo; the chicken fried steak with cream gravy; the chili; the nachos with everything. All the food comes out quickly and is piping hot when you get it.
I will say, Angry Dog makes one beefy bloody mary. GOO-OO-OOD! It's not as spicy as I normally take them but it's a well balanced mix of vodka and tomato and will cure what ales ya... maybe the hair of the Angy Dog from the night before, he he.
Yum! That was a good burger!!! I had one cooked medium with a perfect pink center with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and avocado. Generally I stick with 1/4 pounders or 1/3 pounders, but it wasn't too difficult for me to scarf down this 1/2 pounder (I did take my side of pasta salad home with me though).
Angry Dog is a fairly convenient (pls finish the construction around Good Latimer soon Dallas!) stop for a mighty tasty burger, but I wouldn't call it best in Dallas (Kenny's meat juices are superior). The burger was seasoned nicely (if not a wee bit overseasoned) but despite being cooked a proper medium, it wasn't very juicy. Also, it did get a bit expensive with add-ons like 4 tiny slivers of avocado for $1.25. ALSO, my damn pet peeve again: shredded, non-melted cheese! Do people really prefer this?
The beer selection was good although I thought it was weird that the only thing they were out of was Miller Lite. Oh well. I must also mention that our waiter, whatever his name was, was FANTASTIC. He was really funny and easygoing, and even poured the ketchup on to my plate for me! What a doll!
Will definitely be back if I'm in the area!
I think if people knew ahead of time what type of place Angry Dog is that might eliminate the disappointment some feel after eating here.
Angry Dog is essentially a dive bar. It once even had a pool table tucked in the back of the restaurant. After some renovations the pool table went bye-bye and made room for more tables.
The food is pretty standard bar food. They just do it better than most.

Angry Dog is my favorite neighborhood bar. I'll often grab an Observer and go hang out at the bar.… Read more »
Most favorite burger in the big D. I've tried plenty and always come back to this simple choice.
Not only is it in one of my favorite neighborhoods, but the meters are cheap and the beer is always ice cold.
Sometimes you have to wait for a table, but they generally get you seated fairly quickly. Plus, the staff is amazing. I don't know if it's because we always order tequila shots or we just have those kind of faces, but they always seem to remember us and it feels like "Cheers" but with burgers.
Best Of: The original burger + cheese; Blue Moon + tequila shot.
Maybe the most underrated burger in Dallas. It's simple, doesn't have any gimmicks, but is simply one of the most quality burgers you could ever have. The french fries are exactly how you want your fries to be. And the place itself is really cool.
Sorry for the lack of details, it's been forever since I had it. I just had to express my appreciation for it.
The quest to try all of the top ranked burgers in Dallas continued last week with a trip to Angry Dog. I have to say I was a little disappointed. The burger was big and juicy, but the taste wasn't all that remarkable. It was decent, don't get me wrong, but I don't get all the accolades, especially with Twisted Root just down the street. Also, the cheese fries weren't very flavorful and were rubbery (apparently there's such a thing as too much cheese).
On the plus side, our server was very attentive and friendly, made sure my Dr. Pepper was refilled multiple times. Also, the refried beans were quite tasty.
Oh, Angry Dog, I love ya...
hehehe
Well, I told my hubby I wanted to do something more exciting for my birthday than shuck corn or pick lint from my dryer vent, so I asked my brother (who is a true foodie) where I should go this year...he said "My gosh, Nina, take you tail over to Angry Dog; have a drink, lighten up". :0)
So, I did just that, I got all relaxed, put on my Levis; didn't put on my elastic waist stretch pants, I put on a cute t-shirt (can you believe I wore a fitted shirt?), wore my Rocket-dog sneakers instead of my reliable SAS sandals and I just got into my safe vehicle and got on over to this happening spot. (laughing, I'm not really that weird)
Joking aside--- Yes...we did go to Angry Dog, we took our girls (ages 11 and 7)...we decided to go during daylight hours since we have a bedtime for our kids and because well, just because. (smirk)
Walking in...I felt very comfortable, all kinds of people and all kinds of happy noise...some game was on...(baseball) and we found a table we liked...
For appetizers, chips and salsa
I ordered "The burger"...my hubby ordered the same with a lot more added and piled on top...
The girls ate some appetizers for their meal since they're into the fun stuff...
The servings were super generous and our drinks (Dr. Pepper, of course) were topped off every minute...very good for me!!
Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect in my opinion.
Since we have kids, I prefer fun, noisier places (except for that place with that foolish stuffed animal and pizza). I liked the fact that I could walk into an establishment and not get handed a huge puppy training pad for the kids to sit on while we had dinner...don't you hate that? (kidding)
And, since the prices are fine and the crowd wasn't rowdy, I will go there again and again until I become such a familiar face that I have a table reserved for me. (hahahaha)
Really, it was nice and though we went with the girls during the day, I would not have brought them out in the late evenings nor the weekend nights...you know what I mean...nothing against the establishment, but just being a mom...
I plan to try the hot dog everyone is talking about also...maybe next weekend (without the girls).
Yep, so, I will go again!! Oh, I forgot to mention, the fries--they were okay, nothing super duper to brag about, but, they were hot, crisp and not greasy...so, that's really what they're supposed to be, right? :0)
I know people may faint but I'm not a big fan of Angry Dog. I thought that maybe I went on an off day, so I went twice just to be sure.
Both visits generated the same results: slow service and so-so food. The burger was huge but pretty bland. The fries were just so-so. Maybe they are coasting off of their rep right now, but either way two times is enough for me.
There are other options for a better burger with less wait time. Twisted Root and City Tavern are right in the area.
The Burger.....that's what we go to Angry Dog for. The meat is juicy and tender with just the right amount of seasoning. It's one of the best burgers I have ever had. I have never had bad service here....ever.
I'm always disappointed when I spot an article in a local paper or mag that lists "The Best Burgers in DFW" or similar, and Angry Dog isn't listed. When I scan down the list, I see quite a few places that are trendy hangouts, but have very mediocre burgers.
I've read alot about Angry Dog. Seems the lines are drawn and most love it or have called it nasty. I don't know if it was the overhype but I wasn't overly thrilled like I had hope.
I went during lunch on a Friday and we sat at the bar. Service was great and the place was packed for a somewhat late lunch. Food came fast. But I order the Burger medium and it was well. I like my cheese melted but it just came sprinkled on. And I got bacon on it and it was basically burned. The fries were nothing great but I did like the extra spice next to the S&P. Overall just a notch below ok. Adair's will be next.
i am a huge fan of deep ellum (have been for years) and Angry Dog is a place that i frequent often! the food keeps me coming back... burgers, salads, dogs and the seasoning salt for your fries stays on the table- always a good sign that you will enjoy your meal. ( i don't know why that is... it just is!)
i have been here for lunch, late dinners and to just grab a few drinks. always a pleasant place...if you are dressed up or dressed down... you will blend in. that's another reason why i like it there... there are all kinds of people that can walk in at anytime.
the beer is cold, the food is good... and it's open late. stop by after you have heard some good tunes at curtain club, trees, or wherever you come from in this neighborhood!
Truly AWESOME burger! I have been wanting to go to Angry Dog for almost a year now, and I finally made it last night. All I can say is they really do make a solid burger. I have been in love with Deep Ellum since the first time I drove down Commerce and saw the huge mural of the clinched fist exclaiming "Keep Deep Ellum Alive!" "OK," I thought, "I had no idea it was dying, but fine." But Angry Dog is now my favorite place in the 'hood.
I was hoping for the perfect hotdog going in, but I think the burgers trump the dogs any day. Looking over the menu, it's easy for a first timer to choose what to get after reading the long string of awards their burger, dogs, and wings have won. My inner glutton said, "Get both, Burger and Dog! Will your way through it Dan!" Little did I know, each came with a huge serving of fries. My wife quietly shook her head in shame as the food arrived, and I took a deep breath and went at it.
First bite of the burger, I knew I had chosen correctly. Perfectly cooked meat, juicy and slightly pink in the center, slightly crispy on the outside from the grill, melted cheddar cheese, perfect blend of mayo and ketchup, grilled red onions, and a soft fresh bun, toasted in the center with a slightly buttery flavor. Man, it was heaven. One taste of this burger, and anyone of those Food Network watching culinary adventurers in that endless line at Twisted Root would give up their place and hop on over for a far superior burger at Angry Dog. It reminded me of the perfect burger in a Memorial Day picnic. One of the best in Dallas. When my budding Yelper wife tried it she sat back and said, "Man! Thats a 5 star from me!"
But the only reason I can't give this place 5 is because the hot dogs are not really the way I like them. The dog is alright itself, and the chili is fantastic, but it is so smothered that it is impossible to pick up and the bun gets a little soggy after a bit. I prefer to be able to two-hand my hot dogs, not cut them with a fork. And the fries were just ok. Pretty standard, and could use a little work. But in all, excellent food, especially the burger. If Deep Ellum did ever die, it would be a tragedy to see this place go.
After seeing the special on NBC5, I got curious and went to eat here. Apparently an army of other people also saw it or perhaps it was just normal to be crazy busy at 3.30 PM on a Saturday to the point we could barely find an available table. As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you see is a sign saying "Please find your own seating". That should be the cue for people expecting to find great service that this might not be the place for them.
This is probably the best burger I've had, the meat was cooked perfectly, I asked for medium and the center had a nice pink color all around it and was juicy. The bun was good too, not too thick just the way I like it. The cheese wasn't completely melted which was a little disappointing but not a big deal. The bacon was real crispy which is exactly the way I like it to be cooked.
The french fries was pretty good but not anything spectacular about it. I also tried their chili as an appetizer, it was pretty good but I wish I had tried their nachos which many reviewers seem to rave about.
I'll definitely come back here.
What can I say...Wow!!!
I've been hearing nothing but good things about this place. So a group of us from work came down here for lunch. Everyone had been talking about the burger so I was all set to get a great burger until I saw someone at the table by us. The Angry Dog looked awesome, so I had to have one.
This has got to be one of the best dive foods on earth. The dog itself is a huge kosher hot dog...it has all my favorite greasy spoon toppings on it. Mustard, lots and lots of meaty chili, grilled onions and a pile of cheese. This thing is HUGE!! It covers the plate. You can't pick it up with your hands, so you have to use a fork...the flavors were awesome...the prefect food to go with the ice cold beer...
If the burgers are anything like the Angry Dog, they must be out of this world. But for now, I'm sticking with the Angry Dog!!
Besides the food the place appears to be a great place to watch the game. There's TV on the wall and an really cool bar.
This place does not get the respect it deserves. I'll tell you a little story....
For a few years, I had traveled all over the country. Some major cities, others were backwoods towns. I was exposed to a very eclectic selection of American cuisine (and what could be more American than the burger?). My mission on every trip? Ask the locals where the best burger was, then go eat it. (This was before the days of Yelp when you actually had to talk to people). For a long time, my first place burger was from this small town in SC, until I came to Dallas.
Admit it, exceptional food is never healthy for you, and this burger may quite kill you. But softly and in a good way. Simply called 'The Burger', you can order it regular or double. There's at least 5 different cheeses (I always do pepper-jack), and well, it's a burger, not much more you can dress it up than that.
Your burger is in front of you in under 10 minutes, no lie. Explaining how good it is when it touches your lips is like trying to explain a color to a blind man.
I know they have a menu, but I have no idea what else is on it, I only come for the burger. When my friends or colleagues come in from out of town, I say "want to have the greatest burger ever?" this is where I take them.
I went here today and I think my main fault was that I wasn't hungover and craving something greasy. I went at off-peak hours so I was able to find a table, which is always tops.
Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. She seemed to always be around at the perfect time.
My friend and I order chips and queso (I was very pleased to see that it came with salsa). The chips were greasy and good, but the queso tasted like chilis...not good. I usually devour queso but I just wasn't inspired in this case.
My friend and I both ordered the Angry Dog with everything on it...and fries. Huge pile of chili, cheese, onions, and mustard. It was meh...soggy and heavy. The fries were ok...pretty standard.
I may try Angry Dog again...but only when I am hungover and craving the grease.
Wow, That was good!
Hey If you wanna great burger this is the place to go.
I followed advice from a fellow yelper and man I am glad I did. It was really delicious. The meat was cooked perfect. It was juicy and seasoned very well. I also like you can hand pick what all you want on it. Someone mentioned that all you can order was a hamburger or cheeseburger and there were no items to choose from? I think you may have missed it. The list of things you can add to create your burger is at the bottom of the menu right under the burgers.
This is defiantly one of my very favorite burger joints. Its so worth going into downtown for. Try it I think you would agree.
As good as it gets for burgers. It's been a long time (too long) since I last visited and an old buddy suggested this place. As I drove up I couldn't help but think of how I use to frequent Deep Ellum weekly back in the days of the Green Room and Thin Room... aww memories...
Walked in and this place was packed. Wall to wall, people standing around waiting for a table... and for good reason. This has got to be THE perfect burger. Meat pattie just right, not too thin nor too thick. Bun is excellent. Fries could be better, but I wouldn't dare knock a star off for that. Maybe I'll just get two burgers next time.
Yep, I am a fan ! 1st visit here yesterday in our quest to break the mold and go somewhere new and untried. Great decision! Immediately loved the atmosphere upon walking in. This is a "nice" dive bar, with the dark woods, brick walls and long bar. Around 1230p on a Saturday, it was not packed, just a good sized crowd.
We opted to sit at the bar. Greeted by a cheerful bartender and upon my telling him what type of beer I enjoyed (I'm not a big beer drinker so totally unfamiliar with most of their beer selections), he offered me a sample of Stella Artois. Right on target, loved it. Smooth and COLD, with a squeeze of lime!
BF and I both ordered the huge Angry Dog; what a massive amount of food. Should have split one order. I couldn't even finish 1/2 of the dog and my plate of fries looked like I hadn't even eaten one. Food was pretty good with the grilled onions, tons of cheese and chili, but how could you mess up a hot dog? Pretty tasty, salty fries too. AND, everything so reasonably priced.
Service was excellent, we were checked on frequently. Such a friendly, casual, relaxing experience. I am anxious to go back and try one of their burgers and other enticing items on the menu. This is definitely on the go-back-to list for sure!
I started eating here about 8 years ago, and the place always throws down a Dog. I love everything you can put on the dogs and burgers, the fries are great as well and the beer is so cold. This is a dive bar but locals know this is the place to go.
I am a super-duper hotdog lover and Angry Dog never leaves me wishing I ate somewhere else.
Not only are the "dogs" HUGE, but LOADED. Please do not eat here if you are wanting a "light" lunch. You will be sooooo full, but it is worth it!
Tips for going:
1) This place is PACKED for lunch during the week. Go early, and if you don't mind waiting to eat after lunch hour, definately give it a go.
2) This is such a cool place, that also the reason why the lines outside are so packed is because nobody wants to leave!
3) The serve fried pickles too. Not too salty and they are cut pickles, not the spears.
4) If you don't like tight spaces, you might want to go at a later time. It's not common that you are sittin' real close to a stranger.
I was a bit peeved on my last visit to Angry Dog due to the fact that their kitchen closed so early, but today I went in for lunch. My waiter, Vincent, was super nice, I tried the infamous burger and fries. My server checked back with me, he asked if my meal was absolutely delicious and it was! My burger was prepared perfectly, I love, love, love, the fact that they use shredded cheese on the burgers and yep, that's it. I loved it.
I am a huge fan and I will definitely go back. The best part was that a burger is $6, but you get a crapload of food, I couldn't even finish the deliciousness that was on my plate.

Totally loved it. The tables are a little bit too close, but I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of leg room for the great service and food I got.
I ordered the heart attack special - Double cheeseburger with an order of cheese fries. It may be gluttonous, but dammit it's American.
Also on the positive side, they've got an internet jukebox that has literally every obscure thing I could think of. Solid.
Angry Dog is a must visit, a mainstay in Deep Ellum. I regret that the whole neighborhood has been falling apart, but this place is still full every time I go.
It's laid back, good service, good food and they have Abita beer, which is a plus. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and it's all no-frills, stick to your ribs man food.
however, the reason for this review is I was making my list of "best places to go to the bathroom in Dallas" and I realized I hadn't yet reviewed the place that has pictures of hot men plastered all over every surface. From George Michael to George Clooney, and everyone in between, you'll want to stay awhile just to take it all in!
I have not been in the men's room, but hopefully they are getting the same treatment as us ladies...only I dont know if having men "stay a while" in the bathroom is really what anyone wants! Girls already go together, so the scenery just gives them something to do while they wait their turn!
This is the place I enjoy if I'm in the mood for a dive bar atmosphere while on my lunch break. It's good for what it is. . .a greasy spoon that fights against the revitalization that Deep Ellum's currently going through. Amidst the new boutiques, modern restaurants and businesses re-investing in the area, The Angry Dog is a big F YOU to the suit and tie atmosphere coming in. . .and I will always love it for that.
However, the food is exactly what you'd expect it to be, which, how you look at it can be a good or bad thing. It's greasy, salty and artery clogging. The air's thick with smoke from patrons and the grill. . .DO NOT come here if you have an important meeting later in the day (unless you're armed with Febreze or your meeting is with someone as white trash as your lunch).
The restaurant's namesake is a hot dog covered with all the staples (onions, cheese, chili, MUSTARD) but add some jalapenos to complete this monster and make sure you've got bathroom access in a couple hours because it won't go quietly.
When I want a healthier alternative (good luck here), I go with the Angry Chicken Sandwich hold the mayo. It's the same chicken sandwich you'd get from Snuffer's or any other restaurant served on an onion bun. No frills, no real flavor. . .I dress it with just about all the sides (grilled onions and mushrooms, pico, avocado, jalapenos) so in the end I'm looking at a $10 minimum sandwich. . .NOT COOL.
There are 100 other places in Dallas doing the exact same thing for less money. You're paying for atmosphere here. . .and, again, that's good or bad depending on how you look at it.
I had been away from Deep Ellum for to long. Now that I spend more time with my new love at her place I have warmly welcomed my return to the area. I have not been disappointed. Several old spots and new spots have sparked my desire to return to this area since my high school days.
Angry dog is my new favorite burger stop in Dallas, not Twisted Root (sorry). At the Angry dog my burger is prepared how I ask, not how I guess. Even if I say raw, they'll make it that way. Considering very few places have the courage to do that, it says a lot for those who do.
I have no story to tell, no creative rhyme or poem and no criticism to give. This place is great for lunch, for dinner and most of all for a burger!
i ain't mad atcha Angry Dog. I know what you are! And so do you...
You're a simple, but oh-so-amazing cheeseburger on a squishy, white bun - served with crispy fries and ice cold beer on a lazy (and gluttonous... and hungover) Saturday afternoon. You're a delicious effin hot dog (that I didn't have to dirty my own kitchen to make). You are greasy. And fried. And cheesy.
I don't come see you when I want gourmet delights. I come to you when I want a belly full of awesome and cheap beer.
Thought I'd report on the other food they have that's also delicious!
Angry Chicken - yum! Marinated grilled chicken breast... add a few toppings of your choice (grilled onions and mushrooms for me!) and you have a great sandwich.
I also like the Speedeez (sp?) - marinated beef chunks on a warm and toasty bun. So tasty and yet so simple. Add cheddar cheese and guacamole for a special treat. Yum!
I think they have Lawry's Seasoned Salt on the table (its in a salt shaker so I can't tell for sure) and that's a nice addition to the fries.
The tables are close and this place is packed during the week at lunch but still a great place!
Angry dog has fantastic burgers.
That is what I can say.
Unfortunately, service was horrible for us. It was busy so everything was running slowly, but that happens sometimes and that was ok. We ordered our burgers, and when they came out all five of them had the wrong condiments and cheese on them, and when the server compared them to the ticket he was shocked and very apologetic. When the second round came out, two of them were STILL wrong. The guys just ate the third burger that was brought to them. Our server was super stressed out, and I don't know whose fault it was - kitchen, server... ? Anyways, I did like Angry Dog and their burgers and have heard great things from people that go there regularly, so I'm willing to stick with three stars and hope that my next visit ups it to four. Sometimes these things just happen, even to the best of restaurants. That's what I'm hoping.
Their burger is way better than Twisted Roots, and I am very sorry Diners Drive-ins and dives did not visit Angry Dog. This burger is on par with Port of Call in New Orleans and really rocks. If you like burgers this would be the first spot to hit on the list. They have great beers also.
On our quest for the bestest nachos ever, the BF and I staggered over to the Angry Dog last night to see how theirs held up. Really, we just happened to go there for dinner and saw nachos on the menu, but this is yelp, so I took a bit of literary license...:)
Anyway, the nachos are pretty damn good. Lots of beans, beef, chicken, sour cream, guac, jalapenos, cheese, and deliciousness. I'd say they're the second or third best I've had, after Monica's and maybe tied with Cafe Brazil....I'll have to go back and eat more to decide. Hmm...like right after I finish this, maybe.
After the nachos had been inhaled, I got a burger and he got *the* angry dog. This has always been one of my fave burgers in the city; it's always cooked right, always has the right amount of mustard and mayo and cheese, and they never put those damn vegetable things on it (like lettuce or onion. I'm ridiculously anti-veggie, like a 4 year old.) The angry dog looked tasty too, but I was emphatically denied the opportunity to try it. I lunged at it with my fork, and he actually knocked it aside with his own. Seriously. The man was willing to fight over this hot dog. Musta been good...
No dessert, cuz no room for it; and the waiter was on it, service-wise. We'll be back....and next time I'll just order my own damn hot dog.
I think I found one of my new favorite burger places in town! Went here yesterday for lunch after months of hearing how great it was from the hubby and his buddies. It did not disappoint! The burgers are HUGE - 1/2 lb - and I didn't see a smaller option on the menu, so I just went for it. I asked for it medium and it was a true medium - just a bit of pink in the center and very juicy. Normally I don't love it when places put shredded cheese rather than sliced cheese on the burgers because it usually all falls off, but this time I guess they put it on while the burger patty was hot off the grill because most of the cheese melted and stayed in place. I like that all the fixins come on the side so you can build the burger however you want (I am a burger simpleton so always have to pick off all the veggies at other restaurants)! The fries were pretty good, nothing stellar, but they were not soggy or overcooked. The seasoned salt on the table makes them a million times tastier, and it's nice that they let you add the amount of seasoning yourself. My hubby tried the Angry Dog hot dog piled with cheese, chili, and a bunch of other goodies, and he loved it. He said he probably even prefers it over the burger, which tells you just how tasty it was (because he loves burgers)! I tried it and I must say it was a freaking tasty dog.
Just a warning - I went on Friday at lunch and had about a 15 minute wait. I am not sure if it is always like this, but I am going to venture to guess that it is. It is packed with tables inside - you practically sit on top of each other here, so leave your personal space issues at the door! Don't let that deter you, though...it's worth it!
Angry dog? Or is it hair of the dog? I'll explain later....right now I'd rec the beef nachos. There is nothing appetizer wise about them I call them a meal in themselves. Nicely piled high and enough substance for every chip layed on the platter. Nice bar, so beer is my natural companion with the nachos. Not a bad burger in this place I've had them before too. I'm not into the hot dog scene so I didn't bother because I've had plenty traveling through O'Hara airport in Chicago. Besides I watched a segment on the food channel about how the hot dog industry lobbied Washington to define "meat" as anything on a bone. Which for our Angry Dog's sake can be construed to mean anything.
Now here is my Angry Dog story. My wife comes here with her soccer team after their games. So she wanted to introduce me to the dog one afternoon. We parked on the street and walked towards the front door. As soon as we approached the door a guy came out in a rush and threw up. He must have had a bad night before, and looks like he tried to solve his hangover with a "hair of the dog" approach. I just looked at my wife and said I gotta try this place thanks honey! She mumbled something in Spanish. (Note to self I must get a pocket Spanish dictionary.) Luckily the food was not the source of his demise but rather self inflicted as his buddies reported.
Seems every place I go to has a story. Gotta love Dallas. ;-)
So I FINALLY got to sit down at angry dog and, well, not impressed. And worse, I started to really question what's up with some of the awards/reviews given to this place.
Let me first start off by listing the meal: the combo appetizer, the hamburger, the angry dog, and the angry tuna (what my date had). Yes, I was hungry.
combo appetizer - huh? Put a bunch of uneventful cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, and pickles that I could microwave, ok fine, but the buffalo wings that looked like they might have been off baby chicks (SUPER small), and I paid 8 bucks for that?
The angry tuna - had taste, well seasoned, nice combo with the mayo thing they served with it. Not a bad dish but, this is supposed to be for it's burgers and dogs so, can't base a review on a tuna thing.
The angry dog - very well cooked dog, uneventful bun that looked like a Mrs. Bairds hot dog bun, chili seemed canned to be honest, and cheese. I was looking for onions but didn't see many. Part of me wanted to ask, shouldn't it have more options?
The burger - let me first start off by saying I was VERY surprised that after all this talk about their burgers, only seeing one burger on the menu and the only choices about the burger was if you want mustard or mayo or both gave me a bad feeling. The burger was not seasoned at all and the bun was nothing really but a large white thing (grab a whataburger bun really but not toasted). I asked for the onions to be grilled, not dried out and shrunk to the point of no taste (I think this is what Francesca got).
No, this is far from the best burger in DFW, especially at 7 bucks. For that price, go down the street to Twisted Root and get you a great burger for the same price.
OK that was the food...
2PM on a Saturday and they were playing death metal while college football games were going on. And with kids in the place, you might think they'd put on something a bit, oh I don't know, calmer?
Another oddity - smoking allowed at the bar which will float to the tables not more than 5 feet away yet the tables are non-smoking? Ummm...
I do have to say at least service was Johnny-on-the-spot.

We hit up Angry Dog before the Coldplay concert for dinner last night. I had the burger with cheddar and it was awesome. Definitely one of the best burgers in Dallas. The fries were good too but nothing amazing. I will be back soon!!
We went around 5 and the place was packed. The service wasn't great but I think there were only 3 servers for the whole place.
I'm pretty sure anybody would be Angry if they were slathered with chili, grilled onions, mustard, cheese, cloaked in a bun only to be poked prodded and eaten with a knife and fork. That is true about this hot dog.
It later passed on its Anger to my stomach and arteries. I guess it was Angry's revenge. My whole party of four ordered the Angry Dog along with cheese fries, queso, and fried pickles. This is NOT recommended unless you don't wish to do anything for the rest of the day and would like to fall asleep in your chair at work. But every once in awhile we hunger for that grease. I have had better hot dogs before in Brazillian form. The atmosphere was sportsbar-like. Parking is street only.
Came with my wife and 2-month old baby. We loved the place and the burger is really good but definitely not a good place to bring your baby. We were cramped in a tiny table with our baby literally blocking other tables. Not really comfortable for neither party. Also, If you're a fries lover, this is definitely not your place.
Great atmosphere. Excellent service. The food lived up to the hype and expectations. The Wings were off the chain!!! Best we had ever had hands down!
The burger was great, took a few bites to get into it. But it was very good. Did I think best burger in Dallas? Probably not, but it was definitely top 5! The high quality meat made it what it was as the bun was just a plain white bun!
Overall this place ROCKS! We will be going back and it WAS worth our 55 min drive! it is worth yours too! it was like a little neighborhood bar. The game was on and the Jukebox randomly kicked on a song.
Here is a tip, Deep Ellum is pretty much dead so look for the meters and put in 50 or 75 cents. That should buy you and hour and a half or so. That beats the Parking for $5 next door.
One of the best burgers I have had in the states. The chicken nachos are a must too! Staff was great and good atmosphere. It seems like you can not go wrong with anything on the menu. I did not walk out of this place angry.
If you can and are two people get a seat at the bar. It's long and for the many years I have been coming here the bartenders are the best in the business. Attentive you will rarely have an empty glass, a dirty plate or a conversation you do or don't want. The Food? Chili Dog is award winning. The Hamburger is huge. The Wings are Great. Spicy fries and those who like pasta salad try it. The Observer (the Weekly local paper) dishes out awards (voted via mail in) once a year for "Best Of" the ability to get one Observer award is big for anyone and unusually gets a plaque on the wall. To lay down as many as these guys have it speaks volumes. Is it crowded? Yes the good places are. Trick is to eat not at 11:30 To 1:30 roll in at 1:35 and enjoy. Oh and by the way the beer is cold Tap or Bottle they keep it frosty cold so if your finding Dallas Hot and Dry.
