This is an iconic pier that is part of many pictures taken around Lauderdale by the Sea. It is the longest pier in South Florida, it's open 24/7 for fishing & features a cafe & occasional live music.
Anglin's Pier first opened on November 24 1963. It has been, and still is today, an important part of the City of Lauderdale by the Sea offering tourists and fishermen a place to get close to the water.
The Pier, as of June of 2020 is only open half way due to damage by Hurricane IRMA 2017 and it's open 24 hours a day.
Anglin's Fishing Pier is close to the water, approximately 12 feet above the water so if you are fishing and like to use artifcial bait they can be worked pretty well from the height and angle of this fishing pier. $7 fee for adult fishing.
Anglin's Fishing Pier offers 2 types of fishing, sand and reef "rock" fishing. From the Bait house to the middle house is sand and from the middle house out to the 'T' is reef.
If you are not into fishing but just strolling, you can do that for $2 entry fee.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Alex R.Bronx, NY0411Feb 26, 2024
Just wanted to thank everyone for leaving their honest reviews about this fishing pier. I was planning of going fishing with my family this weekend, but after reading how hostile, disrespectful and downright despicable the owners are towards members of the public, we've changed our minds and will be going elsewhere. The experience of the woman who was told to "Go Back to California" by these people was the dealbreaker for me. Revolting. Your comments did not go unnoticed and are actively working to deter would-be visitors from going. Thanks again for the warning.

This pier is named for Lauderdale by the Sea founder Melvin Anglin who built the city's first 800 foot wood fishing pier in 1941. When it opened, admission to the pier was only 10 cents. After a hurricane the family would salvage the wood from the pier and rebuild it, a process they had to do three times.
In 1962 real estate agents Everett Sorensen and Frank Myatt purchased the pier and secured a 99 year lease for the land the pier sat on. They lengthened the pier to 876 feet making it Broward County's longest pier and they built it on concrete pickings. Anglin's Fishing Pier reopened on November 24,, 1963.
In 2006 the pier suffered major damage from Hurricane Wilma and ever since then half of it has been closed. The pier was sold again in 2010 and is currently open for sightseeing ($2.00) and fishing, no license required ($7).
If you are looking for the newest and nicest pier in the area, that would be a few miles to the south in Pompano where the pier just got a multi million dollar make over. I think there is plans in the works to fix this pier up. I still love a historic pier like this one and admission is cheap enough for a stroll over the ocean. Tip to keep in mind, they only accept cash and will not take a $20.Helpful 103Thanks 0Love this 78Oh no 1 - Dec 20, 2021
A very cool older pier. It's not a long pier and half of it's still closed due to hurricane damage but it's nice walk with lots of pelicans . The star of the pier is the pelicans, they are just hanging out looking for fish so they are very patient and let you take pictures. It's a nice pier for fishing and the guy I was talking too was pulling in a ton of fish.

I have truly special memories at this pier which I first discovered years ago, prior to half (well maybe not half) the pier being destroyed by a hurricane and needing to be cordoned off while it is repaired.
When we first went to the pier we picked our hour perfectly and managed to walk onto the pier in the sunlight but as we were there the sun started to set and it created magical moments and lighting that I swear I will remember for the rest of my life. I kid you not! If you have the chance to go just prior to sunset, do it! What a treat!
The pier also provides for great photo opportunities especially with the large birds such as pelicans and seagulls that perch there. My photo of one such pelican is now being used as the cover photo on Yelp! How exciting! I am a proud Yelper!
That said, the pier is definitely less interesting and less of an experience with a good portion of it closed. Nonetheless, I find myself there yearly regardless!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 27, 2020
This is one long fishing pier. It will cost you to fish on it, and a couple of bucks to just walk on it. It's pretty old, but fits it's purpose well. There were quite a number of people fishing on a Sunday afternoon. The pier is pretty open with little shade, although there are a few benches to sit on.

$2 per person to get in and it's cash only. The attendant was kind of rude since we only had a $20 bill; he threw kind of a hissy fit. Pro tip: bring cash and in small increments.
I'm sure the pier is great for people who love fishing because there were so many that were doing so. I've never been there during the day, I'm sure it's lovely.
We went at night and the place was pretty packed; it was cold due to the windy ocean breeze so I suggest bringing a sweater. There were benches and the the pier was well lit. I saw a pelican which was pretty cool. Other than that, there's not much going on there. Is it worth $2? I don't think so. If you're a fisher, you would love it. If you're like me and love the ocean, better off going during the day. I'm sure it's a better picture opportunity than at night.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 15, 2018
The pier is actually very nice. Yes part of it is still closed but the guy that checked us in was super nice and explained that hurricane erma damaged it pretty good last year.
The fishing was great. Pier wasn't over crowded, fishermen were not rude.
Saw so many neat fish and sea life. Like Sting rays, a nurse shark, a crab that we caught but got away, many varieties of fish. We mainly caught ballyhoo and Blue runners.
The blue runners tasted delicious the ballyhoo's got tossed back. :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 5, 2017
It's a pier... it's 2-bucks a person (cash only)... it's a pier... but it IS open 24-hours!
So the end of the pier is over-filled with actual fisher-people.
VERY WELL maintained... no visible loose boards, no hanging nails, no excessive weathering of the paint or signage.
A couple of nice benches to sit and watch the waves, the people and feel the breeze.
At the land-end of the pier, some well maintained benches for a family to bring their own picnic.
I am personally suspicious of any 'cash-only' businesses...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 24, 2019
My family had a pretty good time here last year and this.
Currently $18 and a $10 deposit gets you a fishing rod for the day and a pack of bait (shrimp, squid or mullet fish). $10 deposit is returned to you after you hand back your rod. The hours are great. It's a 24 hr fishing pier and you can go to dinner and come back. The guy working "roofer Dave" (he used to fix do roof maintenance) is awesome. He helped me with tangled lines, and gave me plenty of fishing tips.
The water here is quite clean as there isn't much industrial activity nearby or too many passing boats.
We've seen a kid catch a shark here and I caught a tropical filefish. We promptly set them back in the water of course.
We caught a chub and someone gave us a blue runner. We took both back to our airbnb and cooked them. Delicious!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
