I've been using yelp for the past few years to look up restaurant reviews but never felt compelled to post a review myself until I went to Angie's.
There are plenty of reasons to love this place: charming location, great coffee and tea bar, homemade fare, fresh baked bread, and so much more. Having said that, the one thing that did make this dining experience stand out is the friendliness and hospitality of Angie and Maryann (the lovely ladies behind this great restaurant). From the moment they greeted us, we fell into conversation like we were old friends and Angie came out with a few fresh dishes that she just made for us to try out. They went above and beyond the hospitality that would be expected in any restaurant.
Everything we ordered was delicious, the coffee was fresh, and we had a great spot outside with a serene view of the lake. When we left, Angie came out with some home made bread for us to take for our trip back to LA. We'll definitely stop by again the next time we're in St. Petersburg.Comment from angie c. of Angie's Market Cafe 10/14/2010

A friend found this place as it was close to our hotel. The service was great, the food was very good and it's very cute. We got to sit outside in the sunshine and there is a park right across the street so it was very nice.
There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try - it's hard to choose! I had the club sandwich and it was huge and yummy. No skimping on any ingredients! My friend had the veggie omelet and said it was awesome - full of fresh veggies.
The owner and the other waitress were super friendly and very helpful. The owner said if there is anything we didn't like, to let her know otherwise how would she ever know what to improve. A great viewpoint for a store owner to have. But I had nothing to tell her as I was very happy with my lunch and visit.
Very reasonable prices. Maybe I am just used to California pricing but this place seemed downright cheap for the amount and quality of the food. -

Today was the first time I visited Angie's Market Cafe. Loved the location right from the start. Very nice, quiet neighborhood. Yes, near a seedy laudromat-but hey, they can't control their neighbors...and no one bothered us.
The atmosphere is wonderful...we were greeted as we walked through the door and told to "manja!" Everyone there is so friendly and it's a real "at home" kind of vibe. It was Sunday, so they were offering a buffet of breakfast foods. $11.95 per person including a drink. The food was all very fresh and delicious! They even had live entertainment that was very relaxing and refreshing on such a beautiful day. It was a great time and I'm sure I'll be back on future trips to St. Petersburg. -

SUMMARY: I was in the right place but ate the wrong dish.
I REALLY wanted to five-star this charming neighborhood-y cafe, in the middle of the Garden district near downtown St. Pete, across from a tiny park with a pond. It oozes homeyness and personality, as did the lovely ladies who work there.
I ordered the turkey reuben (it's one of the "Yelp things" I do) with a side of black bean & corn salsa. I was informed that Angie didn't have time to make that this morning. I opted instead for a guacamole.
After taking quite a long time (only one cook when we were there, as other reviewers pointed out), my pop's order came out first. He ate a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, with a side of home fries. The chicken salad was delicious, large chunky style . Both of his items were excellent.
Mine came out 10 minutes later. Granted, Angie made the guac from scratch (and it was excellent), but the reuben was not very good. It was heaping with cheese, sauerkraut and turkey, but the bread was not grilled, not toasted, and I'm sure it was microwaved (to melt the cheese-- I heard the beeping). The turkey was store bought. I take responsibility for my ordering, but I wish they had let us know about their specialties (especially the homemade bread!) before we ordered.
Sounds like their breakfasts are also worth trying. So when I return on my next visit to town, I shall throw myself to the whim of these three entrepreneuses so that they can wow me and earn a few stars back.
TIP: They also sell local produce, coffee beans roasted in Ybor City, and locally grown Lutz (central Florida) honey.Listed in: Farmers Markets, near and far

BLUF: If you don't mind waiting 45 minutes for Extra-Fresh homemade, from-scratch food, you'll be in luck. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
This little cafe is seated right by a small pond, which is quaint and idyllic. The coffee is fresh, and doesn't taste burnt like most ca$hbucks brews. Also they have a wide variety of teas if thats your thing.
The extremely nice little-old ladies who run the cafe are just slightly batty. Don't mind them, their cooking is worth the oddity.
The food was flat out amazing. I don't think I've had eggs benedict done that well in YEARS. My lady-friend said her vegetable scramble was also neigh-on perfect.
Two downfalls: The cafe is right next to a seedy laundromat, from which odd barefoot men kept pacing back and forth, glancing eerily towards us whilst we were fed a marvelous and sumptuous brunch. And the wait is the other downfall. While only 2-3 women are working at any one time, your wait for food will be considerable. We waited (a very-worth-it) 45 minutes for our food. -

My family and I have been on the great search of finding a lovely breakfast spot in St Pete for many years now. When I read the reviews about Angie's cafe I was very excited to try it out and hoped this would be the place we would come to for breakfast on a regular basis.
We got there right when it opened as we have 2 small children and did not want to have to wait a long time for food. We loved the neighborhood and the kids loved the pond. The cafe was charming and the staff were very friendly. The kids got coloring books and even chalk for the side walk. Our experience was off to an amazing start. The menu looked good and I even commented that I heard they made home made bread and I would like some with my food. I ordered the vegetable scramble and my husband ordered the french toast with home fries. The kids would munch off our plates.
The food came fast. "That was fast" my husband commented to the waitress and we wondered how that could of happened given that our orders should have taken at least 15 minutes if they were cooked fresh.
We soon discovered that the reason it came fast was that the only actual thing cooked fresh was the eggs in the veggie scramble. The home fries on both our plates were clearly cooked a few days ago and were reheated to order. The french toast was the same, made days earlier and merely reheated in the microwave, you could tell by the way it was so hard on the corners as it cooled down and eventually turned into four pieces of hard brick resembling crutons. The home made bread never appeared just regular sliced bread toasted. I still cannot believe that they would reheat home fries and french toast and especially as we were the only customers there. They should not do it even if they are slammed.
We both barely ate the food and when we got home we were all hungry. I wish I had said something, I think I would have if we were not their with the children. Everything was perfect except the food and that is the only reason you go to a restaurant, sure it is important for the atmosphere and staff to be wonderful but that does not keep customers coming back or recommending it to friends.
Our great search for a breakfast place is still on! -

I think the actual name of this place is Angie's Market and Front Porch Cafe. During our recent visit we had breakfast here on late Saturday morning and were surprised to find this place with out a crowd. Of course, that didn't last very long.
This is the type of place the neighborhood loves and locals still don't know about (thanks Yelpers!). It's also the kind of place I like to keep to myself so they don't die from overkill. But this time I decided to share because I want them to survive through to our next visit to St. Pete!!
As you enter, you are welcomed by the friendliest smiles and deliscious temptations! The charm hits you first with a full wall of fresh and organic produce lines the main wall in the market, displayed seemingly effortless, in crates and baskets.
We were greeted with the southern charm you really can't fake and taken to our table. The room was lined with hutches and bureaus filled with knick knacks. Colorful displays of florida kitsch drapes the walls in sea themed and southern belle charms. A gentleman was playing slide guitar to (now) two tables in the dining room. He even covered a Muddy Waters track while we enjoyed our coffee.
The coffee is self serve and in the market area. They serve local coffees; I believe from a roaster out of Ybor City. The menu was breakfast and lunch all day. Now if you have never had a mom from the south that can cook like a king, then you NEED to eat here! Some menu items included Cheesy grits, home fries, fresh fruit, and I can't remember the lunches offered. We were there bursing a hangover and wanted the fulfill our dreams. So biscuits and gravy with homefries and a sunnyside up egg was my choice. Our 'server' (slash cook on her day off ;) ) made sure to get the eggs right.
I could go on and on about this place being heaven on earth, but I won't. I will mention what they told us while we were finishing up- they have buffet dinners on fridays that serve up a single themed cuisine, like greek, etc. And this coming friday (after our stay in StP) our server was in charge of the southern style buffet, for under $6, serving up home made chicken and dumplings! Now get your butt out of here and head on down to Angie's!Listed in: where to go when you visit the…

We were very excited to go here as we recently moved to the neighborhood, were doing a load of laundry next door and generally love these little mom and pop restaurants. The coffee was serve yourself which is fine but it was lukewarm. We were told to seat ourselves which we did. Ten minutes go by. Twenty minutes go by. Finally we walk up to the front counter to ask if we are supposed to order up there or something. That is when our older waitress was like "oh!" and followed us back to our table to take our order. She hadn't even glanced at the back of the restaurant to see if she had any new customers. So she takes our order and I get a breakfast sandwhich with turkey and feta. We wait a good twenty minutes during which time the table of gentlemen who had been there before we arrived, all got fed up that they hadn't gotten their food yet and they got up and walked out. I suppose that's when I should have known.
Waitress comes back to ask if I want the bread for my sandwhich toasted or soft. I reply toasted please. Finally when our food arrives what I get is a scramble. Waitress has no idea anything is wrong, but notices my quizzical look as I start trying to load the giant scramble (the turkey in it is also just sandwhich meat slices - not even cut up or anything) into my bread to make a sandwhich and asks if its okay. I say I actually ordered a sandwhich. She takes my plate back and returns with the same giant scramble just loaded into two small, untoasted pieces of bread. Apparently she didn't recall making that special trip back to the table to ask whether I wanted it toasted about ten minutes before. After dropping the plate off without asking if it was right, she disappeared and we didn't see her again. The food was okay at best, and the homefries were dry as cardboard. Obviously either sitting under a hotlamp for hours, or made the day before (or even a couple) and reheated. Very disappointing as the homefries are my favorite part of breakfast! So I barely ate any of it and left still hungry because it just wasn't that good. Also, our water glasses went dry about 20 minutes in, and despite requesting more water, we never got it. At the end again we sit and sit and wait. And eventually we had to get up and request our check from the cook because our waitress was no where to be found. The place wasn't particularly busy so I'm not sure what the deal was, other than obviously this woman, as sweet and as nice as she was, just isn't cut out to be a waitress anymore. Sorry but memory for these basic things can make all the difference to a customers experience. We will probably go back there anyway, since we do laundry right next door, but we have had the option to do so several times since the first time and decided not to based on the experience I recounted here. I know everyone has bad days, but first impressions are lasting. It's a shame too because I was so excited about this place, and we would have eaten there many more times since then had we had a competent server. -

My favorite breakfast or lunch spot in St. Skeet. There isn't even a close second.
This is a great local produce market and cafe. It's run by three very friendly and personable ladies. The first few times you go, you think that they couldn't possibly be sweeter or take better care of you...but it just keeps getting better.
Breakfast - outstanding, homemade, fresh, and a regular craving for me. I prefer breakfast to the Sunday brunch buffet, but I like a quiet breakfast and would order a la carte anyway, so I prefer to go Wed-Sat. The coffee is locally roasted in Ybor and is also outstanding. Thick slices of delicious sweet tomato (the kind that do not exist in any supermarket), crispy bacon, excellent home fries, perfect pancakes and french toast, and please do NOT forget to ask for homemade jam! They have a great selection of handmade preserves and jams.
Smoothies - I don't even order these off the menu. Just ask them to surprise you, which always results in a great smoothie made entirely out of juice and the best of what's perfectly ripe at their produce market.
Lunch - Everything is good, but ever since I ordered a turkey bacon avocado club on their multigrain bread (did I mention that they bake their bread fresh every morning? and oooo is it good!), I haven't been able to make myself order anything else. I almost always have a cup of the soup of the day as well, and it's always phenomenal...the fresh local produce really makes it. -

wow, great breakfast! I felt like I was at my grandmother's house being cooked a fresh breakfast. I have lived in St. Pete for 4 years and did not find out about this place until recently. It is kind of hidden in the mirror lake neighborhood of st. Pete and easy to miss.
They had a Jimmy Buffet style guy playing acoustic guitar while we ate. Besides the food, the atmosphere definitely takes you away. I hear the Sunday brunch is even better. I ate on a Saturday. Probably the best breakfast place I have eaten in St. Pete so far.
I highly recommend! -

This place is FANTASTIC!!!!! I'm from Miami and I drove up to St. Pete for a vocal competition. My bf and I drove up pretty early in the morning and had a few hours to kill before I had to sing. After trying to check in to our hotel we yelped local breakfast joints and decided on Angie's. We're so happy we decided to go there. The moment we walked in everyone in the restaurant said hello and introduced themselves. We asked to be seated outside. I decided on the eggs benedict and my bf on the French toast. Wow. It was so delicious! Tasted fresh and like grandma's cooking! The fruit that comes with the meal was the only part of the breakfast which was not fresh. If you're in the area check it out!!!

Organic grocery, organic restaurant, local foods...what more could you want?
This is old school, down home, straight from grandma's kitchen country cooking at it's finest. Yep, some days when it's busy, it'll take a little while. However, the staff is right there, waiting to serve you. Oh, and they can be seen bringing fresh loaves of 7 grain (or is it 9) bread out of the kitchen regularly. Good food doesn't come quickly. Sundays they have the full menu on an all you can eat style buffet if you need to get in, get out.
I've had everything, and recommend it all. I even eat the grits here, something I never, EVER would do from any other restaurant. Slightly batty old ladies? Maybe. ;) If you don't walk away loving them as much as you love their food, you belong in front of a $2.99 Grand Slam at Denny's. -

We went to Angie's for breakfast on Sunday morning and enjoyed the brunch buffet a great deal. I think that chick from Orlando got dropped on her head as a baby because the fruit salad could not have been any fresher. All of the food that we tried was delicious, especially the eggs benedict. Puling off eggs benne on a BUFFET? That's totally gangster! As everyone has stated, it is a very charming place and very friendly staff. I could have done without the crack heads hanging out front next door at the laundry matt but oh well. I will be back to try lunch.

The Hubby and I enjoy going out on culinary adventures to find new and fresh food whenever we go out of town. Just a couple of weeks ago, we went down to St. Petersburg for the day and we found this cute cafe tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood in the downtown area. Its "fresh bread" signs posted up on the display window were so inviting that we did not hesitate to go in at all. Like many reviews here state, the inside decor was very welcoming and " homey". It really did make us feel as if we had just gone to grandma's for Sunday brunch. We were very much entertained looking at the antique collection throughout the restaurant while we waited on our food.
Although the service was great, it was not enough to make up for the food itself, which I considered well below average. For starters, I ordered "traditional" eggs Benedict, which are supposed to be poached eggs on a toasted English muffin. My eggs were fried, on an English muffin that had become soggy from the heaping amount of hollandaise poured on top of it. The breakfast included "fresh fruit", and considering the name of the restaurant, this seemed like a safe item to order, and yet i got a small ramekin with fruit medley from a can. At this point I looked forward to my "soup of the day" in hopes it could make my breakfast a little more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the cream of corn soup was not very good either. It simply tasted like canned corn mixed with evaporated canned milk and thrown together without any additional seasoning. The hubby ordered a veggie sandwich with pesto and that tasted ok. I ended up eating his food.
On a good note, the pesto was very tasty and it really added a kick to what would have otherwise been an ordinary leafy greens veggie sandwich with carrots and sprouts.
After our breakfast was served, the waiter asked us how everything was and I did let him know that I did not enjoy my eggs benedict. I believe he told the owner,"Angie", because she came to our table and offered up some dessert on the house.
Let me be very clear, from the moment I walked into this little place, I was charmed by the decor and the service. I can tell that the owners have a passion for food and they really want to bring something fresh and original to the community, for that they should be commended. However, I hope that they work on their food and make sure that they serve what is promised in the menu. If they do that, I have no doubt that this place will be around for many years to come. -

I've only been here for brunch, but it's our new favorite Sunday brunch location. It's a small, simple cafe, but the weekend breakfast is clearly prepared with an extra dash of TLC. It's so charming, it feels like it belongs in a small Southern town. The breakfast buffet is very reasonably priced, and the selection includes: scrambles eggs, eggs benedict, benedict florentine, cheese grits, bacon, sausage, french toast and more. There are a few outdoor tables that overlook a little park. A great little gem!
