Angie ROCKS! About 2 weeks before our wedding, our previous dance instructor went MIA. Not that he had really taught us anything anyway. So I yelped a REAL dance instructor and found Angie. Angie listened to our music, evaluated our beginnerness and our lack of time til the Big Day, and came up with a simple yet totally amazing dance for us. We actually wanted to do a spoof and start with a slow song that then transitioned to something fun and upbeat. She totally went with it and we ended up wowing and surprising all our guests and family. People even said we looked like pro's who had been taking lessons for years not a just a couple weeks at best. I can't even imagine the amazingness she could've provided if we had actually given her a decent timeline to work with.

if you want to impress your guests, or just make sure you don't bore them to death and look like a high schooler at prom who just sways back and forth at your first dance, call Angie. She can work with all skill levels, pretty much any timeline (or lack there of), and any crazy ideas. She made us feel totally comfortable, gave us homework after each lesson so that we could continue to improve in between appointments, and even video taped what we needed to practice at home so we wouldn't forget in the days in between. We felt so comfortable and fabulous on our Big Day!

This too is a bit of a belated review but still holds very true 5 years after our wedding.

We took private lessons with Angie in 2006 to get ready for our wedding dance. Having a mom who owned a dance studio at the time, I felt like there was even more pressure to get it right.

Angie was encouraging and insightful and patient and supportive - and at every lesson not only taught us the steps but gently walked us through finding our way to dance together, with humor and a lightness that made every lesson fun, even when would get frustrated with each other.

I can HIGHLY recommend taking dance lessons before getting married - what you learn about each other and how to communicate with each other is extremely helpful and eye opening and Angie is a wonderful teacher to help guide the process.

I'm sad to say that I didn't have a good experience with Angie. If you're looking for a personable, kind and enthusiastic instructor who truly cares about you and/or their job, look elsewhere.

We read the great reviews and were really looking forward to taking classes with Angie. Unfortunately, we found ourselves sorely disappointed. Not only is the Metronome Ballroom extremely noisy and crowded (which is very distracting if you are just learning to dance) but we were not able to play "our song" for more than a few minutes of our hour long session (which isn't cheap). We found Angie neither warm or engaging. In fact, she never introduced herself to my fiancée, and after two classes, I still don't think she knows his name. Her number one concern was the time -- she was constantly checking the clock to see if our session was over. Bottom line: if you are looking for a warm and engaging teacher who loves what they do, keep searching.

Angie was a true pleasure to work with as a private dance instructor. My husband and I worked with her to get ready for our wedding and first dance. We're probably the reverse of most couples...my husband has dance experience (musical theater) and was way more game for the lessons than I was. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to take lessons, but I didn't have any experience, couldn't follow a lead, and tend to get easily frustrated. Angie was wonderful and patient and had such a sweet way of working with me so I didn't feel stupid and clumsy when I struggled to find my rhythm and comfort level with dancing.

We had so much fun working with Angie. We were dancing to the big band version of It Had to Be You (Harry Connick), so we learned foxtrot for one part and triple-step swing for the other part of the song, and we did one short section of actual choreography at the very beginning, including a lift, which I never thought I'd be able to do. In the end, the dance went really well, and was a real highlight of our big day for our guests and for us (and we got some really great photos!).

Besides the great results, I loved the lessons and the time that we spent together as a couple preparing for the dance. It felt like it was a special part of the process of getting married to work on this project together and learn how to dance together. Angie created a wonderful environment for us to experience the process, and made the experience really special for us. We're so glad we set aside the time to take lessons, and we really loved working with her. We highly recommend her!

Angie was our last minute savior!
We had booked with another instructor, taken two classes then fired her (yes she was that bad).
Then we found another instructor willing to take us on whom we booked with. She canceled twice on us due to illness.
Honestly, luck was not on our side,,,, until we found Angie!
I am not exaggerating,, 3 weeks before our wedding Angie took us on! She was super flexible with scheduling so we could get in several private lessons in before our big day. She was professional, taught us on our level and even had us record clips from the lessons to practice to. I cannot rave enough about her!

Angie Major is a fantastic dance teacher of many styles.  I have taken salsa, cha-cha, rhumba, swing and a little argentine tango with her.  She knows how to break the steps down into easily taught pieces, worked with me to understand moves that I had difficulty getting, taught my husband (who believes that he has two left feet) how to lead and helped me have a fantastic time doing it.

She is energetic, fun, kind and very very good at what she does.  I have sent many friends to both her private and group classes and they have all returned to me with rave reviews; I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn to dance and have a fun time doing it.

This is a belated review from our April 2010 wedding for Angie.

Angie is fantastic! My husband-to-be and I could barely tell our left feet from our right, and we had less than 4 weeks to prepare for the big wedding dance. Thanks to Angie, we pulled it off without a hitch! She is such an amazing instructor - she's warm and encouraging, and knows just how to break it down for a beginner. She is extremely knowledgable and pays attention to details like how to make a dance less about the mechanics, and more about being natural and confident in front of a crowd of people. This is very important, because otherwise I think we would have only focused on learning the dance steps! At the end of each session, she'd take notes and make sure that she knew where we left off. It's clear that she really cares about her work and it shows.

I'd definitely recommend her to anyone!

Angie Major was born to be a Dance Teacher.  Her energy and love of dance is infectious, her patience knows no bounds, her positive attitude and constant encouragement just makes you want to try harder and get better and better.  She makes it so easy with how she breaks out each pattern/movement that "the penny drops" pretty fast.  I've had so many "Aha, I get it" moments in her class, it's not even funny.  I've been taking her American Latin Rhythm group class at Cheryl Burke Dance for about a year now and I look forward to going every Wednesday night.

From beginners, to social dancers, to those who want to pursue dance at a more serious level, Angie will be with you every step of the way!

I had a VERY reluctant groom to get onboard to learn a dance routine for our first dance. Although he has very good rhythm he didn't have very much confidence to dance in front of a large group. That's where Angie stepped in.

She boosted his confidence and showed him easy broke-down steps that made it easier for him to learn. After 3 lessons he was doing swing! I think he secretly liked it, even though he grumbled about it.

On our wedding night he was excellent and we thank goodness didn't fall or even make any wrong moves. Everyone loved it and even people who were great dancers thought we excelled.

I also have to say she was so easy and cooperative when we had to make numerous scheduling decisions and she was fun, spunky, patient and endearing...even 7 months pregnant! We'll go back I'm sure to learn more dances. Thanks Angie!!

We just had our last lesson in a series of lessons with Angie.  We're getting married next week and Angie has instilled in us a confidence we couldn't have had learning on our own.  Angie is a great dancer and actually knows how to teach.  She is kind, patient and very hands-on.  She made us feel incredibly comfortable the whole time.  We walked away sad that this was our last lesson with her.  We really enjoyed ourselves!  We look forward to further lessons with Angie!

Angie is a WONDERFUL dance teacher--patient, personable, with a very effectual teaching style.  We have been taking her group ballroom dance classes at the Daly City Kaiser, and have learned American Ballroom Tango, Foxtrot, and will be starting Rumba soon.  My husband and I were completely new to ballroom dancing before we took Angie's classes and were a bit timid about ballroom dancing.  Angie completely put our fears at ease, and we have just fallen in love with ballroom dancing!  Angie has over 20 years experience in teaching dance, and her expertise and enthusiasm for teaching really shows.  She always has clever methods to fix mistakes and help us remember steps.  We highly recommend dance lessons with Angie and look forward to taking more dance lessons with her!

I am thrilled to join the ranks of Angie Fans here on yelp.  My husband and I started taking her Ballroom Dance class offered at the Daly City Kaiser in May and we just wrapped up American Tango.  She is incredibly patient, upbeat and positive.  I am not coordinated at all, but her confidence is contagious.  I also recommend her couple counseling skills.  Quite a few time Dutch and I would start bickering over who stepped on whose toes and she would quietly intervene with with an apt word without  hurting anyone's feelings.  We are finding that her advice is applicable to things far beyond the dance floor.

We have had Angie as a group dance instructor and, most recently for private lessons prior to our wedding. She is very dedicated to making you look good and happy while dancing, willing to work around your schedule, is easy to access for lessons and very pleasant. I recommend her highly for those interested in not doing the 'hug and sway' for the first dance.

My husband and I took dancing lessons with Angie for our first dance and for the father/daughter and mother/son dance. We were complete beginners when we started out and we LOVED working with her! She is an extremely knowledgeable instructor and quickly made us feel comfortable and actually have fun dancing. She was able to pinpoint our individual weak points almost immediately and taught us how to get around them.

Thanks to Angie both dances went beautifully and we were able to have a lot of fun both preparing for them and dancing them.

For someone with two "left" feet who wanted to learn social dancing, Angie is a godsend! She has a terrific personality with a lot of patience that helped me to relax and concentrate on her instructions. Her methodology used in teaching a neophyte to dance is perfect. After several lessons, I could actually remember the steps and was not self-conscious about dancing in public. After each lesson, Angie provides a "cheat sheet" to take home that is used toguide your practice between lessons with her.

If you want to learn to dance, whatever your age, I would highly recommend taking lessons from Angie.

Angie's a really great teacher and an incredibly warm person.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any of my friends.  I'm getting married in a couple months and she's been helping me and my fiance with our First Dance.

She has really made us feel extremely comfortable which I think is especially key for teaching wedding couples.  I have a small bit of experience with salsa but my fiance has never partner-danced.  We really appreciated it when Angie really listened and understood what we meant when we said that we didn't want to do a showy performance.

I also really like how Angie can speak in different lingos depending on what your understanding of dance and music is.  My fiance is a musician on the side, and it was really great that she could speak in his language - it really helped us a ton!

It's also great that Angie is a beautiful dancer herself - it really gives me something to look up to!  Her studio at home is really great - the only downside is that it's a bit of a drive if you live in the city.

Try her out - you will love her!

We just saw Angie tonight....I'll give her ten stars, not five. We are leaving for are wedding in 7 days!!! But she showed us some basic moves, that we could probably do "and and get away with" for our first dance.....However, we scheduled two more lessons with her and I am even thinking about a 3rd because it was so "FUN", before we leave for Mexico... She is professional, sweet, in tune with your dance style and moves. My fiance actually really liked it!!!! I was surprised. I am hoping he will stick with this after the wedding is done. Also, I know she teaches at multiple places, but the studio at her home is really nice. Also she has a sensitive way of making men, whether "dancers" or not "like my fiance"  feel comfortable and good. I caught my fiance  doing the moves she taught him while he was going down the hallway. Thanks Angie!!!! I hope to take latin dance with you!!! You ROCK...& of course, if you are a tremendous teacher, you have to be an awesome dancer which she is!

Angie made us feel extremely comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. She put the ipod on and listened to the song we wanted once through, and knew exactly the type of dance we should do.  She was very patient with us ( she would take my fiance aside when he needed to practice a little bit more on a step over and over and over again). She gave us options of different dances that we could do. After the first hour we already had learned several dance steps.  After each class she gives you a little note card and writes down all the steps you learned that day to practice.  We ended up meeting with Angie several more times and absolutely loved our first dance!!! It was everything we hoped for. I would highly recommend Angie to anyone, even those that have never set foot on a dance floor. We may even go back and take more dance lessons with her.

My teenage daughter actually found Angie first -- she started taking classes with Angie when she was 13 or 14. Now she's 17 and we've both had wonderful, wonderful experiences with Angie. She's a great teacher -- warm, funny, hardworking and with high expectations of her students. You have fun, but you also learn a lot and progress fast. My husband and I hired Angie for private wedding dance lessons earlier this year and had so much fun. Angie helped us make our wedding the most amazing event -- because we had so much fun dancing together and I can honestly say we did not enjoy dancing together before Angie helped us (our beats were all off, until Angie showed us what to do). Thank you Angie!

Angie is simply amazing!  I have taken both private lessons with her (for over a year now) and attended her group classes.   She is a wonderful dance instructor.  She is patient, fun, energetic, and kind, not to mention a fabulous dancer!  She is so easy to dance with, I am extremely shy dancer but feel completely at ease and comfortable dancing with her.  She makes it okay to make a mistake and offers a vast amount of knowledge on a variety of dance styles.  I have learned so much more than I thought I would in such a short amount of time and her style is so much fun that I look forward to my lessons each week.   She also has an amazing talent for knowing what I may have missed or done wrong when things get off track.  She makes sure to come up with creative and detailed exercises for me if I have trouble mastering a step or body movement.  Angie is a fabulous dance instructor!
