Had the opportunity to try Angel's last Friday with several co-workers, with a $25 http://restaurant.com certificate in hand. Our party of 5 arrived at about 7:30, and found plenty of open seats. Angel's has a variety of tables and booths, but note that they are generally set up for parties of 2-4; there was some confusion initially at how to seat our 5 person group. In the end we were seated at a table for 4 and another table was moved over (by a member of our party) to accommodate 5.

The menu at Angel's is huge- I mean there are pictures for every single dish and the thing weighs at least 2 pounds. I enjoyed the pictures though and the arm work out combo was funny at least. Our party ordered spring rolls with tofu, a variety of curries, pad thai with chicken, and the angel fried rice. At Angel's the spice level goes from 0-Thai, 0 being no spice and Thai being "crazy spicy" according to the menu. We ordered spice levels from 2-Thai. Food arrived relatively quickly, and we dug right in. Enjoyed the peanut sauce with the spring rolls, and the tofu was cooked perfectly. My entree was the pad thai with chicken, and it was really good. I like my food spicy, so I was very clear that I wanted it Thai spicy, and it was perfect. Sweet, a little smoky, and spicy enough that after rubbing my eye at one point it started burning from residue on the dish that somehow got on my hands. That is what I call Thai spicy! That said, I believe the spice levels are accurate- the folks that ordered two star dishes didn't find them to be over or under spiced.

Angel's has decor that is a little more upscale than it's neighbor Narai, which is my current favorite Thai spot, so it would be a good choice for a date or a special night. The only downside to our dinner was that our server was pretty absent, and that means subtracting a star. Had to track her down for water refills, and she never brought the spice tray we requested. I think she was the only server working though so it was understandable. Out the door with our $25 off certificate we paid $55 including tax and tip for 5 entrees, 1 appetizer, and 2 beers- awesome! We left right around 9 pm, so about an hour and a half total for our meal. I will definitely be coming back to Angel's to try some of the other 5,000 things on their menu.

Fair is fair. It has been awhile since we have been back after our last less than satisfactory visit. Our party of four dined last night and experienced none of the poor service issues of the past. Our server was pleasant, prompt and efficient. The food came out quickly and was great. A word of caution though...business was slow last night... there were only three other parties dining at the same time we were so maybe this was why the service was so good... I hope not.

At every Thai place I try out I order Phad Thai with max stars, and at every Thai place I try out, I get Phad Thai with weak, whitey stars that only serve to fuel my hate for pale faces. Thai food is supposed to be spicy, and it never is, even if I order 17 stars and a raw pepper. Thai food tends to be weak.

So I go to Angel's Thai after visiting my sister and check out the menu. The menu explains what each star means. I don't remember all of them, but I'm pretty sure it went something like this:

0 Stars: White people can eat it.
1 Star: Elderly white women will call it too hot, otherwise it's not too bad.
2 Stars: Students at The Evergreen college complain about the heat.
3 Stars: This will be spicy for whitey.

Something like that. Apparently there was no 4 star option. There was, however, something that was intriguing. Instead of 4 stars, there was the following option:

    ~~~~~~
    "Thai Spice: And for those who are completely crazy, ask for Thai Spice. It is so hot we do not even bother to put it on scale."
    ~~~~~~

"Bull. Crap." I said to myself. Bull period, crap period. Periods emphasized. What a ridiculous promise that was sure to disappoint. I ordered it anyway - the Phad Thai with Thai Spice.

It arrived, it was huge, and it was actually spicy. I was so floored I was basemented. For the first time in the history of ever, Thai food arrived that tasted like spicy Thai food. Maybe the Thais haven't been lying to me after all.

It wasn't the best Phad Thai I've ever had, but it was above average and with actual spice. The Thai people still vastly overrate how spicy their food is, but for the first time ever I felt the heat, and that means something. Kudos to you Angels Thai. Ku. Dos.

The food here is decent, just inconsistent.  Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes just merely okay.

I've never failed outright here, so I return sporadically for meals, although the price tag makes me cringe a little every time.

I have been a fan of Angel's Thai for five years now.  Unfortunately, I will not return.  The dinner service is terrible (on multiple trips).  We walked in the door (5:40pm).  Nobody was in front of us, and about 1/2 the tables were full.  We were finally seated without menus or water (5:45pm).  Our server came by with menus at 6:00pm, but we told her we knew what we wanted.  I ordered a thai ice tea, but was told they were out.  We ordered some spring rolls and our main dishes.  At 6:15pm, we were told that they only had an 1/2 order of spring rolls left.  At 6:30pm we contacted our waitress and inquired about our food.  Finally at 6:45pm, with no food yet, we kindly advised our waitress we were leaving.  We had arranged baby sitting but returned home without eating.  I will NEVER return to this place.  The food is above average, but only when they actually serve it!!!  Go some place else for Thai, as there are several places within a few blocks.

I love Phad Thai, and this is my favorite place to get it in Olympia. I suggest asking for the tray of spices so you can make it just as spicy as you want it. The Tom Ka soup is also delicious, and they will make dipping sauces for spring rolls that are gluten-free if you ask for it.

Occasionally I order take-out, but it often doesn't taste as good as sitting down in the restaurant.

This is our happy medium for going out to an inexpensive meal with our friends in Oly.  The service is flat out awful but friendly, if you are waiting for friend you get water menus and a place setting.  Even if you are the only people there you will not see your server until the rest of your party shows up. The food is hot....fair...if you are looking for a good quantity of medeocre "Thai" food for a reasonable price..this is it...if you want a true Thai food experience...keep going...for all the Thai places in Olympia... I am constantly surprised at the lack of good Thai dishes
What is with all the broccoli?..

Be sure to get a window seat ...it is worth it just for the show, I think the number one reason we go back....cheap food great show!

The service here is atrocious.  My boyfriend and I took his parents here when they came to visit, which was a huge mistake (we really only went because Narai was closed!).  When we got in, we were led to a table that hadn't been cleared, and the server hastily wiped it with a napkin from a neighboring uncleared table.  It took us at least an hour to get our orders in and get our food.  My boyfriend ordered a curry with tofu, and they brought him a stir-fry dish with chicken!  How do you mess up like that?!  It took at least another half hour for him to get his correct order, and by that time most of us were already finished.  She waitress told us we would get a discount for the screwup, and we ended up getting only two dollars off.  She was very apologetic when we left less that a 10% tip though.

The table next to us had some people leave because their food wasn't ready in time.  They came in about 20 minutes after us, and when we left an hour and a half later they were still waiting.  There was only one waitress on duty, plus a busboy who didn't do anything, but she wasn't exactly rushing around.

Absolutely ridiculous.  The food is good, but when there are other good, faster Thai places in Olympia, why bother?

The pad thai is a bit bland and dry. Nothing special. Tom yum soup does not have that sour flavor, more bland and watery taste compared to the other ones I've had. Masman curry is good though. The paste is really thick and you can taste the peanut butter which dominates the coconut flavor.

The GF and I stepped into Angel's for dinner to avoid the throng of Lacey space invaders, thugs in training, and Billy bob's coming down for Lakefair. So I guess I have something to thank Lakefair for because I enjoyed my experience.

They make a very good Thai Iced Coffee and the presentation of all their plates was well executed.

The Pork and shrimp spring rolls were freshly rolled so didn't have the gummi bear consistency you get from the ones that have been pre-rolled and banished to the fridge for who knows how long. They came with two dipping sauces. A peanut sauce and a Ginger/ Lemongrass sauce. I have only ever been offered the peanut at other places. Both sauces were on point. The peanut was not overly sweet and was thick coating the rolls like a warm nutty blanket. The ginger sauce was sweet and citrusy with a little ginger bite making me wish I could have bought it because it would have made a great simple syrup for some cocktails.

The main dish we went with was Pad See - Lew.

Broad Rice Noodles, button and straw mushrooms, broccoli, carrot, baby corn and an egg tossed in a wok with a soy bean sauce. The veggies were very crisp and crunchy, the egg well cooked, the chicken moist but the noodles were slimy like making out with a slug (Don't ask how I know what that is like.). I wound up eating around the noodles due to this fact.

Despite the noodle disaster, which wasn't okay, I will definitely be back because everything else was perfect plus they have a ton of Curry options I want to try.

We took a group of ten friends to eat at Angel Thai on 7-14 at 7:30pm. Granted it was Lakefair but the restaurant was pretty empty. We picked our table and were almost immediately asked if we knew what we wanted from their giant menu before we were even offered water. At 7:45pm most of our party had arrived. We only had half the water glasses we needed and the waitress didn't even ask if we would like anything other than water to drink.  I had to ask the server to take my drink order. At about 8pm the server took our food order. The entrees for the first three that ordered came out in a reasonable amount of time, but she got their starter out when they were halfway through their meal. My meal came out next, but was not what I ordered (I ordered a noodle dish and was served a salad). Then my other two friends got their food at almost the same time as their starter and one of their entrees had the wrong meat in it. As this was about 30 minutes after they ordered they just ate it anyway. Overall the first people that ordered ate, paid, and left before the last three even received their food. The worst was my friend that waited over an hour for his food as he watched the rest of the table eat. We had to flag down the server to refill our drinks and she didn't clear our plates when we were finished, leaving a huge pile of dishes between us. The server had some difficulty processing a coupon and I found out today that we were charged for two sodas at $1.99 each for one refill. We left at about 9:30pm, not because we had such a fun time chatting, but because it took that long for them to serve a table of ten. I have no idea why anyone would eat at Angel Thai. The food's not bad, but the service makes the dining experience horrible. We go out to Thai places as a group every month. This was the worst so far. PLEASE never eat here when Lemon Grass and Narai are close by with better food, prices, and service.

P.S. - I ate some of my leftovers the next day and there was a half cooked piece of pork in it. Yay raw meat!!

I've been to Angel's twice now.  The first time was about a year ago.  On that visit, I had a fresh spring roll and some type of red curry.  It wasn't very memorable.

Fast forward to a few days ago.  I decided to give it another try for lunch.  This time I started off with another fresh spring roll, as I like to do at any Thai or Vietnamese restaurant.  Theirs is the type that has more lettuce in it than anything else, and I personally think much better rolls can be found elsewhere in town.  I did like the sauces that came with the roll though: a good peanut sauce and a clear, sweet, tangy sauce.

For my main course, I had the Northern Salad (larb) with chicken.  The salad was basically a pile of minced chicken mixed with onions and a few other ingredients sitting on a large piece or two of lettuce with a cabbage wedge and a small cup of rice on the side.  It looked good and the presentation was nice.  However, the chicken was very dry and the dish didn't have much flavor at all.  Additionally, I ordered it "Thai spicy," which was a step above their 1-3 scale, but it was still very mild.  I was quite disappointed in this dish, especially compared to the stellar salads offered up at other local Thai establishments.

I will say that the service was friendly and attentive on this visit.  However, I can't recommend this restaurant based on the quality of the food I've had there on my two visits, especially when much better Thai choices can be found within walking distance.

I was tricked into eating here by my beloved step-son and his friend. While my pineapple curry was adequate, it was nothing special. The spiciness of some of the dishes on our table varied so wildly, my poor kid couldn't finish his meal due to way over-spiced fried rice. we spent a long time twidling our fingers waiting for every part of the meal, from ordering to paying. at the price point ($10+ per plate), it just doesn't make sense to bring our family here, spend a load of money for meals the kids can't finish, and spend way too long waiting forever for service.

hopefully olympia has better thai offerings.

    Preamble:

Went as a party of 2 on a Sunday night just before 9 PM. Used a $25 off $35 Groupon.

    What:

The sampler platter was good, but most of the appetizers are a bit pricey. Ordered a Chicken Pad Thai each and one Green Curry to share.

    Foods:

The Pad Thai portion was huge (almost twice the portion of other places that give small portions), but it was nothing special. Not much meat. Noodle isn't very chewy. But I was hungry, and the plate did the job.

The Green Curry was short of amazing. Lots of ingredients and lots of flavor. Probably my favorite Green Curry to date.

    Staff:

Staff was friendly. A bit slow, but it could have been because of the time of my visit.

    Bottom Line:

Only 3 stars, though, because the Pad Thai (which is my favorite dish) wasn't very good, and I probably won't be saying, "Oh, I know, let's go to Angel's Thai!" the next time I'm around the city with friends, looking for a Thai place.

PS: They played some very sad music, and I felt like I should go find a bridge to jump off of. I would recommend a different playlist to the owner.

Thanks to Restaurant.com's coupon program for introducing me and my family to this great Thai restaurant.

I went here for the first time late last fall and thought the food was good, but not exceptional.  We went during peak dinner hours and it was marginally busy.

What a difference a few months makes! Tonight it was packed and we had to wait a few minutes for a table.

I was introduced to Thai food in graduate school by my wife (GF at the time).  I've grown quite fond of it because I enjoy the fusion of Asian-style food with Indian-type spices.

There have only been a couple of Thai restaurants that have had truly memorable cuisine to me -- and after tonight this is one of them.

I don't know what changed since last fall, but the food was absolutely excellent.  We ordered our dishes with 3-star heat and it was perfect -- warm and spicy without being overpowering.

My wife and I had Tom Kai Gai, Cashew Chicken and Kew Mai Beef.  Everything was just fantastic.  The portions were larger than I remembered from the last time, and none of the dishes were over $12 (before the coupon).

Even my son, who is a notoriously picky eater, thoroughly enjoyed the noodle soup we got for him.  I tasted it and it was loaded with chicken, served in a similar style to Vietnamese Pho, but the broth was much tastier.

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that our waitress was rushed and seemed a little impatient with us, and it also took about 1/2 hour for our food to arrive after we ordered.  However, they were absolutely slammed and only had 3 waitresses working.  The quality of the food easily made up for the wait.

I will be going back soon :D

Authentic Thai food but nothing super special, in terms of the Olympia area I'd say its one of the two or so places I would even consider going. The service is very inconsistent depending on how busy and the time of day, but don't get me wrong, the Phad Tai is just as good as you'll find anywhere in the area but the atmosphere can be boring and stale. But what do you expect when you can get a tasty meal for a very reasonable price? For real advice, go next door to the new Thai restaurant on 4th ave and get the pumpkin curry, inconsistent service just like Angel'sl but probably one of the best curry dishes you can find before you get up into the Seattle area.

Every other time I go here, the food is sorta "meh", which for the prices ($10-13 for an entree, not including rice) makes me think I ought to try some of the other Thai eateries in town.  I am used to reliable yummy Thai food for a few bucks cheaper.

Their green curry does rock socks, so I'll keep going.

I really, really like Angels, but am consistently disappointed by them at the same time.  They seem to have some vastly different chefs or just really strange standards -- food is not even consistent night to night, let alone over a long period of time.  When their food is good, it's great, better than anywhere else in Olympia, and is either the best or second best in the greater Olympia area.  But though I count myself among its fans, I am also well aware of its flaws.  Frequent screw-ups of spiciness requests and requests to leave out certain ingredients don't go well with sometimes frustrating service and food that, even when it comes as ordered, is sometimes not up to the standards set by Angels on good nights.  Unfortunately, I can't figure out what the variable is, or I'd only go to Angels when they're in top form.  As it is, going there is often a let down, and that's unfortunate.

The ambiance is nice enough, though the place has a tendency to get very loud, and while they're happy to serve groups, the seating they have for groups is less than ideal.

Easily the best Thai food in Olympia, in fact it is one of the best I have had in all of western Washington.  The servers are kind and attentive.  They cook the food quickly and my glass has never been fully emptied.  Once you go regularly they remember you and the service goes from really good to spectacular.

The flavor profiles on their dishes are very good, their Thai Spicy is quite spicy.  A definite must if you like Thai and are in Olympia.

Looking at the reviews posted here, it could be that Angel's has improved since my visit in September of 2007. At that time, I did not give them much chance of survival. Yet, they may have found the niche market in Olympia -- in which case Angel's will be around for some time.

I posted my thoughts on my dining experience at Angel's shortly after my visit. Whenever I eat at an establishment I look at the following factors: quality of service, quality of food, price of meal, portion sizes, and the restaurant ambiance. Below is my review from 2007.

Angel's Thai restaurant in Olympia, Washington leaves much to be desired. While the menu certainly has a wide variety, the prices are consistently steep for what you get. $10 for a salad! $12 for the average entrée! Surprisingly, the items that were not overpriced were the drinks.

I had green tea to drink. The tea came quickly. When the waitress brought it she set the cup and pot down without filling the cup. She simply left. Not to wait on another table -- it was not a particularly busy night -- but to go back to the open kitchen to talk to another waitress.

    No extra-mile service here.

I let it sit a moment while I added a few notes to my Blackberry. By the time I tried my tea, it was lukewarm -- not hot.

    Blehk.

The menu had pictures of most entrées. It was difficult to tell the size of the decorative dish, but for $12 it should have been a larger portion.

The food came out quickly. It should have, with only 3 of the 22 tables in the establishment occupied. I had the spicy Pad Kee Mow. The food was hot and had a good blend of spices with beef, vegetables, and flavorful noodles. Unfortunately, the taste was tainted by the prices, cold green tea, and poor service.

Only once did the waitress come by to ask how my meal was. When it was obvious I was done, there was no offer for dessert, coffee, or refill on tea. As for the tea, it could have been because I had left so much of it untouched -- perhaps the waitress didn't think I wanted more.

It is unlikely I will visit here again. I will be surprised if this establishment survives another year without making some significant changes to customer service.

    Recommendations
Attention to detail - make sure food is right before bringing it out to the customer and make sure that what is advertised is what is delivered.

Wait staff training - be professional and attentive, take the initiative and up-sell and suggest menu items.

Lower prices - knocking off $3 alone would be huge.

Rethink the kitchen - with the kitchen being open it can be frustrating for a customer to see their waitress goofing off in back when they need water refilled -- put up a partition.

First time eating at Angel's and I wont be coming back.  Poor services, small portions, and expensive.  Took forever for the food to arrive(50min) and they screwed up my order.  Ordered the green bean stir fry with tofu and they brought me garlic stir fry with tofu.  Not that big of deal considering I was hungry and needed to get back to work, so I kept it.  Found a big piece of chicken in the middle of it.  Not cool since I'm vegetarian.  Even ignoring this issue the food was just average.  There are a lot of great Thai places out there, why go to Angel's?

I have been to Angel's several times, and love it every time. I always get the fresh spring roll with pork and shrimp as an appetizer and they never disappoint me. I have also tried their pineapple and thai fried rice as well as the Pad See Iew and Pad See Maw....all have been good! The ice cream is a must have every time I go there no matter how full I am. I always get the green tea and the crispy/salty taro noodles on top are a good compliment to the slight sweetness of the ice cream.

The only problem I have is the inconsistency of the spiciness of the food. There are times when the spiciness is exactly what I order and there are times when I can hardly catch my breath from how spicy my food is!

Overall great place to eat with alot of vegan options as well!

Angel Thai has always been consistent for me despite all these other reviews. I've been coming for about a year now and I've never had a bad experience. Of course I only get the Pad Thai and spring rolls.

The spring rolls always leave a little to be desired because i'm not a huge fan if mint or whatever that leave is. It's over powering. Love the peanut sauce though.

The pad Thai is my favorite. plus chicken and a squeeze of lime and I'm in heaven. Consistent flavor, texture, and presentation keep me coming back.

According to the menu, as often as possible, Angel's creates their meals with authentic Thai ingredients.  Even the decor on the walls are imported from Thailand.  The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, a good place to meet up with friends.  The service gets ONLY TWO STARS for the lack of consistency, attentiveness, and friendliness.  On the other hand the food gets FIVE STARS.  The Pad See Iew is the best I've found between Olympia and Bellingham.

It's a must try for the food alone!

My wife and I went here for the first time the other day, and we were quite impressed.  The food was delicious, the prices were good, and the experience was, overall, excellent.

The food was perfect.  Not only was it tasty, their description of the levels of spiciness was spot on.  Looking at the menu, it seemed a bit expensive at first, but when the food came, we realized that it was because the portions were quite generous.

The service wasn't quite as speedy as I'm accustomed to from the hole-in-the-wall places that I usually eat at, but I didn't feel neglected.  Rather, the restaurant feels like a place where you take your time to enjoy the food, so keep that in mind.

It's hard to rate a restaurant that's sometimes 2 stars and sometimes 4 stars.  (5 for the food, but never more than 2 for the service).  Angel's Thai is simply inconsistent.  The hope of having a 5 star meal again keeps me coming back (occasionally).

When I'm trying out a new Thai restaurant, I alway order Phad See-ew as the  test dish.  The first time I ate at Angel's Thai, I had the best Phad See-ew ever.  It was also super the next time.  The following time, they clearly had a different chef, and it was not good.  After reading other reviews about how inconsistent it is, I gave another try.  The Phad See-ew was good again.  I thought I should ask the name of the chef to make sure I only ate there when my favorite chef was on duty.  The answer was "ShiTai".  I asked if that was the chef's name, I was told yes.  But I think the waitress was just telling me that the chef was a Thai woman.

Anyway, now that I have a new favorite Thai restaurant in Olympia (see review of Olympia Thai Cuisine on the west side at the former site of the Little Saigon) I'm not so likely to return to Angel's.  Consistency is important.

    UPDATE 11/11
I went last night with my sister and brother in law and I'm dropping my rating from 3 to 2 stars, in large part due to the long wait for our food combined with the fact that some food was cold by the time we got it..  Details below.

We ordered appetizers, soup, and a curry.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  We finally asked the waitress about the status of our meal after about a 40 min wait from when we arrived, and she brought us the fresh springrolls.  Tasty and with plenty of peanut sauce.

Then we waited and waited and waited for more food.  In the middle of the wait, she brought over a plate of gyodza, but unfortunately they were someone else's order.  Finally the soup came.  It was tasty, but quite salty.  (It also senselessly came in a hotpot type dish that was not lit, and that was difficult to ladle out of because the sides were narrower than the ladle on the bottom).  Then fish cakes, beef satay, and curry.  The beef satay was cold, so it must have been sitting somewhere for a while.  My sister asked if the fish cakes had shrimp, which she's allergic to, and the waitress said she'd ask.  She never came back with the answer.

We came here with a http://restaurant.com coupon, which we showed the waitress at the beginning of the meal.  Those come with an automatic 18% tip.  Don't know if that played any role in our getting bad service, as I've had bad service there on other occasions too.

    2/2/2011 1 Check-in Here

Went here after seeing a friends review earlier in the day. I also used a certificate from http://restaurant.com. I paid $10 for $25 worth of food after spending $35 minimum.
They were pretty busy. My husband and I ordered fried veggie spring rolls, which were very tastie. I also ordered a Thai Ice Tea.  For dinner I ordered Yellow Curry with chicken, and rice on the side with 0 stars. My Husband ordered Chicken Phad Thai with 2 stars. They have a scale of 1-3 stars and the "Thai Spicy".
The food arrived with a little wait. Presentation was nice. My drink and rice both had a pretty flower as decoration.
My yellow curry was PERFECT! It had enough meat, it still had a enough flavor for me, since I am not a fan of heat.  My Husband enjoyed his Phad Thai with chicken.  It was better then he's had at Chili Thai. The one flaw, as Sarah G. warned about was that we had to put our water glass out on the edge of the table for a refill.
Prices were reasonable. We had to order another yellow curry to get the bill up to $35 so we could use the gift certificate.  We will be returning!

I love this place!  Having lived in Seattle for about five years now and saturating myself trying as many Thai restaurants as possible, Angel's still manages to be in my top five in the area.  The ambiance and service are high quality and I love the attention paid to little details such as a garnish of a fresh orchid in your rice bowl or iced tea.  Reading the menu is even entertaining as it has the most informative spice rating scale possibly anywhere.  I like ordering phad kee mao, green curry or one of the spicy noodle soups.

What happened to Angel's?  It used to be one of my favorite authentic Thai places in Olympia, and I liked to go there for the variety from Lemongrass.  But last night I bit into an undercooked piece of chicken in our panang curry.  Yikes.

The rest of the meal was disappointing -- they brought us the wrong noodle dish, the noodles were soft and overcooked, only half of our fresh spring rolls were the kind we ordered, the spring rolls were falling apart and were gummy, and the rice was gummy, too.
I probably should have complained, but I was afraid our server would bite my head off.

They must have someone new in the kitchen or new management, and it's really a shame.  I miss the old Angel's!

Craving Thai and never visiting a Thai restaurant in the area before, we decided to try The Lemon Grass.  After researching reviews, we change our minds and decided with Angel's Thai.  I was pleased to find there was also a free entrée coupon in our Entertainment book.  SCORE!

We took my 7-year-old daughter for her first Thai food experience and she LOVED it.  Loved her Orange Chicken, the Shrimp "meat" eggrolls as well as the Pad Thai and Cashew Chicken that she sampled from our plates.  Food was so fresh and delivered in a timely fashion with a smile.  We all loved our meals and found the restaurant to be clean (including restrooms) and service friendly.

The only thing that prevents me from giving our experience 5 stars is that I had wanted another beverage but a server never came around to ask.  We were instead handed our bill, so we left it with that.

We'll definitely be back for another visit.

Also - as we visited on a weekday evening, parking was easy to find and free.

I visited this restaurant on my hairdresser's recommendation ... I'm not sure that I will return.

Waitstaff:  Friendly, but did not come by to check on us other than when we ordered, when they dropped off the food, and when they brought us our check.

Food:  We ordered the Pad Thai, with '3 star' spiciness.  I found the Pad Thai to be soggy to the point of 'swampiness', and the 3 stars wasn't very impressively spicy.   Pad Thai should be dry and light bodied - not soggily weighted down with a thick red oil.    We also ordered the Yum Nua  (beef salad) - which was also unimpressive.  However, the 3 star spiciness for the beef salad was better suited to a 3 star rating.

Price:  The dishes are on the expensive side - approximately $10-12 per entree.  And now they have started charging an extra $1.29 for rice (which should come standard with any rice meal - especially at the above prices!)

Overall Impression:  Save your money and try one of the other Thai establishments in town.

This is really the best Thai place in the area and I have yet to encounter a less-than-perfect meal.

The food is as good as we had in Thailand (and as good as anything I've had in Seattle) but DANG is it slow...if they're going to make us wait that long for our meals, they should bring a basket of chips or something...TO BE CLEAR...the food is the best Thai in Oly, you just have to wait for it...

We went for lunch in a big group.  It looked like one waiter had the whole restaurant.  He disappeared for a long time after taking our orders.  The tea came out late.  The food was meh.  The atmosphere was cool, though.

My husband and I wandered in to Angel's while walking around downtown Olympia and trying to decide where to have dinner.

The waitress was friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant filled up while we were there and a steady stream of people came through to pick up take-out orders.

We had a tray of fresh rolls as an appetizer. They were delicious, as was the spicy peanut dipping sauce and the clear, sweet dipping sauce. I ate mixed seafood Phad Kee Mow. It was delicious! My husband's bowl of won ton soup was also very tasty. We got an order of mango sticky rice to go. Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed that later in the evening!

But where Angel's really came through for us was in customer service. We managed to forget my husband's Bluetooth on our table and didn't discover it missing until the next morning. When we called, the lady who answered the phone did her best to help us, even though she wasn't aware of anything in the lost and found. She took my phone number, and I didn't expect to hear back. But she did call back after checking with the evening staff. They found the Bluetooth, took down my husband's name, and held the Bluetooth until we were able to come in a day later. She even left her cell phone number for us to call if we had any difficulty picking up the Bluetooth.

    Thanks, Angel's!
