First off im greek and i know what a gyro should taste like. i enjoyed the gyro. The flavor was consistent and the yogurt sauce was really tasty.

They have fresh cut fries verses the frozen fries you get at other places. Their burgers are pretty good too. I honestly have to say i had a good meal and it was worth the price.

This place is great for breakfast, the corn beef hash is very good. Also the burgers are big and very good. They french fries are freshly cut there so they taste great. I recommend this place! Only cons is they close early 3PM. The workers there are nice, and the place is always nice and clean!

I was attending the Assessor's tax sale and happened on this place after walking around this cute La Verne downtown area.  I'l glad I picked this Place.  Had the Lamb Gyro and it was very good the service was pleasant.  I would go back again.  Good food.

Listen up people....this Greek restaurant in La Verne serves authentic GREEK meals plus In n Out tasting burgers and sandwiches.  As for quality...it's unbeatable.  This is a must come to...because it's the real deal.

My friend actually was the first person to invite me..cause she started working there and she just couldn't say enough good things about this place.  For one...She knows that they have the best quality in meats: when it says beef it's actually 100 % beef...when it says lamb...it's lamb, etc. Plus the Greek food is made by the actual Greek lady and her family...talk about home-cooked.

So..I ordered the Gyro and my friend ordered the Greek lasagna dish (no clue what it's called).  The gyro was scrumptious and it's covered in that white cucumber sauce.  My friend's Greek lasagna is made out of big noodles with ground turkey meat....so good when I had a bite.

And the vibe in the place- It has this really warm, cozy feel.  The only disappointment that I have is that I would love to see some live greek music in there at night...that would be really awesome! OR....if I could buy some plates to just throw and smash them all over the floor..hahaha

And they have an adorable website name: http://www.mygreekrest...

    Not bad..not bad!

Come ooooon.....are you kidding? I wanted this place to be good. Especially because the people were so nice and the Greek woman that owns the place gave me a nice smile and a "welcome" as I walked in.

The gyro platter was ass...McSausage style meat (w/ similar taste!) has no place in a gyro. No meat on a vertical rotisserie skewer here. Just look at the pictures...WTF IS THAT!?! What they trying to pull here? Seriously, if McDonald's were to come out w/ a gyro this would probably be it. Except it would probably taste better.  Very disappointing.

Lemon potatoes were okay and the highlight of the meal, salad was whatever, and the vinaigrette that went with it was weak. $12....oh yeah, and you get string beans

The feta burger was not worth getting. It had feta cheese and kalamata olives. wow.

They do serve American food too. They said the owner cooks all the Greek food and the other workers cook the non. Heard the pastrami was okay but of lesser quality than The Hat's.

No offense to those that liked it but next time I search Yelp for a good gyro I'll make sure to stay far away from any place you guys recommend.

Ok Sergio and others. I guess you either love it or hate it. Yeah the Gyros are steak ems but they are good, not as good as right off the vertical spit but good. I happen to like the balsamic vinegar dressing, there isn't enough like I like. All of the food is fresh. I have had the salmon, the greek lasagna (pastitsio) is a brick of macaroni like long noodles, sauce and meat and very good. The vegetarian plate is good, except I don't like stuffed grape leaves, anywhere. The lemon potatoes are very good.
The service is always fast and friendly, I would give them 5 stars if they put in a vertical spit though.

After reading the mixed reviews here, I decided to give this place a shot for lunch today.

It wasn't too busy the when I arrived. The hostess/waitress said I could seat myself. I did. I went over the menu and decided that I would try their Greek style chicken and rice soup with lemon as well as a lamb gyro. I've always like that style of soup and I enjoyed a lot of good Greek food when I was stationed on the East Coast.

The gyro came out first. It looked just like the picture, wrapped in pita and garnished with romaine lettuce, chopped onions and tomatoes, and PLENTY of the yogurt with cucumber sauce. The meat was hot off of the grill and was very tender and juicy.

My soup came out next. I took an initial spoonful, but had to wait a little bit because it was WAY hot. When it cooled down to tolerable levels, I tasted the soup. My first though was, "There is something missing in this Greek chicken & rice with lemon soup., and it's the lemon." I flagged the hostess/waitress down and asked for some sliced lemons which she happily obliged me with an entire lemon sliced. I then added lemon juice to my taste, and was able to enjoy the soup for how it should be flavored.

That whole combo costed less than $10.00. Not bad. I got up and paid at the register, and when the hostess asked me if everything was alright, I told her that my gyro was fine but the soup, the chicken & rice with lemon soup, was missing a lot of the lemon.

She explained that the hardly put lemon in that soup because they have had problems selling it because the local customers find the whole lemony part in this lemon soup to be "too weird". Too weird??? C'mon people, look at the name!

All in all, it was not bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't crap either. Will I be coming back? Perhaps, but not any time soon.

I love the gyros, especially the cucumber yogurt sauce! Bomb diggity ;p Plus the steak sandwich is soo good, it's juicy. I ate at the back patio and there's a lil fountain giving a great vibe. Everyone should try this place out :) the quality of food for an affordable price

I don't really understand how Greek restaurants get away with charging what they do usually. Angel's is probably right around average for a Greek restaurant, so not overpriced like many are. It's a lovely location right on D Street, and other reviews make it sound like it's some kind of neighborhood gem. Unfortunately, we didn't get that at all. The staff is super friendly and they give a decent portion, but the food itself was pretty uninspired and lacking in character. Very typical Greek fare, but without anything that stands out in terms of menu, presentation, flavor, quality, etc... Would I eat here again? Probably at some point, but I'll prob try some other Greek places in the area first, in hopes I can find something better.

Excellent Slavaki and yogurt sauce mmmm....so delicious. Thats been my go to at this place. Little overpriced/the best deals are for to-go orders...why? I want to stay! O and beware where you park between the fire/police dept parking, city parking, and university parking its usually swamped or you could get a ticket if you park in the wrong spot-just fyi.

Though the wait staff was VERY nice and responsive, I found the food here to be terrible. I ordered the vegetarian platter (spanikopita, dolma, potatoes, etc.) and none of it was good. The spanikopita tasted like it came from a package in the freezer - not light and fluffy fillo dough, and cold in the middle. The dolma was mushy and overly oily. This was not the traditional greek food that I remember... if you're looking for GOOD greek, try some place else.

I also have to agree with Serge, I went to this place also hoping it would be good.  The people were very nice, even though service was so so, but the food was awful, I have never had greek before, but I hope that wasnt real greek food!

Ordered the Gyro (beef-lamb) and thought it was ok, they put way too much of the sauce on it. Fries were really delicious, comparable to In n Out for it's freshness. Word out on the street is that their tuna melt is pretty legit, will be trying that next time.

It's an OK place.  I am not sure what real authentic greek food tastes like, so I'm not sure how this place compares.  However, their american meals are okay.  Nothing spetacular.  Their pastrami is good (not as great as The Hat)...it's more of your hamburger stand type of pastrami.  Their hamburgers are ok and their steak is not too bad.  The servers are friendly but pretty much clueless.  We enjoy the outdoor seating...that's the only reason we go...we get to take our dog! :)

This place is awful, I just went there yesterday with my sis for breakfast since she decided she wanted to treat me to an inexpensive breakfast on my birthday. We were in the area and were deciding as to whether or not we should go to IHOP or here because we were debating what would be cheaper. We figured Angel's would be on the more economic side of things but boy were we wrong! We should've taken the hint when we saw that the restaurant was empty! Anyhow, the service was okay, and the lady that waited on us was a bit rude and not so welcoming so that was already a bad start to the experience. I decided that I was going to go with a Belgian Waffle since the menu listed it at 4.99 and I figured that was pretty reasonable. The lady then asked me if I wanted strawberries on it and I agreed because she didn't tell me that it was going to be 2 dollars more for 4 freekin strawberries on top of the waffle that tasted like it was not even cooked all the way through and had way to much whipped cream on it! Needless to say, it was one of the most disgusting waffles I had ever had in my entire life. My sister ordered a stack of 2 pancakes and a side of two overeasy eggs and they gave them to her on the same plate which created a yucky mess. When we got the bill, my sister asked our waitress why the waffle had been 6.99 instead of 4.99 and she said "Because when you add strawberries, it's 2 dollars more" and my sister said "that is a lot" and the rude ass lady said "Well strawberries are expensive!"...Ummmm no dear, when you get frozen strawberries from a container like the ones you used which tasted like ass they should only cost you 99 cents. All in all, this place had gross and overpriced food, totally would not recommend this place to any one else because they are very pricey and the quality of the food is down the tubes. I'm never coming here again!
