Need a can of tomato sauce in the middle of a recipe? A loaf of whole wheat bread, or fresh local eggs? Whether you crave Ben & Jerry or Johnny Walker, you can almost always get what you need. If you can't find it, just ask....it's probably there. If not, at least you had a chance to see a friendly face and check in with some of your neighbors. Every good neighborhood needs a store like this one.

For whatever reason, I always want to get out of there in a hurry. Not sure why. I've bought things here only a few times. Their prices and selection aren't as good as a full-service grocery store's, but their location is midway up Upper Noe (Noe Vista?), and 6-7 blocks between a Safeway and a Whole Foods. So charging more for my convenience must be good business for them.
I feel like I'm in the way sometimes, especially when in the back of the store, looking for beer, soda, or Gatorade. It's a little cramped back there. And generally at least one person is inside or outside the store, just hanging out. Not surprising in a family-owned business perhaps.
Don't plan on parking (legally) at this store. Of course, you'd probably shop here only if you were in walking distance, right? -

I still don't totally know what to make of this place and it strikes me as a store steeped in mystery. There seems to be a fascinating cast of characters working and hanging around here, and they all seem to know each other very well. Perhaps one day I'll make my way into the inner circle.
First, the positives of the Market of Angel: they have fresh tamales delivered every Sunday at about 4:30. One easily feeds two people, and they are quite good.
And serving up said tamales are very friendly folks. The nice woman there will call you "honey". And in general, the place has a great neighborhood vibe.
As far as their merch, it's a bit mixed. It's a perfectly fine place to get milk, a lemon, ice, some TP, Miller Lite, maybe a box of Cheerios, but certainly don't come here looking for a great selection or much in the way of organic/healthy fare.
All in all, a reliable corner store and I'm glad it's in the 'hood. -

I've been going to the store for 37 years only two owners and I really don't like it that they play favorites with some of the customers they don't give credit to all the customers only the ones that they like. I used to get credit never was late always pay on time, one day went to get somethings n they said they do not give credit to anyone anymore So I left. one day I went back I noticed that they are giving credit to a couple of customer so I guess they just give it to whoever they feel like it, one time the son helped me out but the parents wouldn't. the mom always forgets my name and calls me somebody else so I don't understand that when I have been there for years! So i stop going n I'll go out of my way to go safeway

Six pack of Pilsner Urquell, $6.99. Word.
I don't know if I would take them up on the "Deli" aspect, but when there are a couple people hanging out in chairs outside on a sunny day, you know it's a good neighborhoody kind of place.Listed in: Goin' to the Corner...

These folks are seriously friendly - John is there all the time reading textbooks and talking about sports. His mom owns the place, and she is incredibly nice and double-bags all of the beer I buy so I won't drop it on the way back up the hill. And don't forget crazy Bobby the Rockstar, the friendly guy who sits outside on sunny days.
Great place because of its convenience, but prices are a bit steep and when the male owner (don't know his name because he's rarely around) doesn't believe we're over 21 and screams at us, that's a drag. -

Alice, George, and John are all so nice and friendly. It's a very convenient neighborhood market with some great food that Alice makes. I've been going here for years, and one of the reasons I enjoy living in Noe Valley so much.

Very nice neighborhood place with friendly owners and a wide selection of stuff when you need to grab a few things. It's also a great place to grab a paper before jumping on the bus.

I visit whenever I am in town and am never disappointed. John and Bobby are ultra-friendly and the sandwiches are great. This neighborhood stop is a real treat. I love the community feel, how people seem to know each other and chat outside on warm days. The prices are good and fair and you can't beat the service.

City's best liquor prices. They can't be beat. Hate to say it but that's all I've ever bought there. Everyone's friendly although I will agree with the other post about them being "an odd cast of characters"; almost out of a movie...

Convenient and very friendly. I much prefer Angel's Market to a trek to Safeway or Bell Market. Besides, they recognize me here, round prices down, and double bag whenever you need it. Glad they're here!

These folks are the best. We love Mom, Dad, and Son. I always do not get everything on the shopping list at Safeway in order to patronize these folks. Great deli food as well. The sweetest people in town. A San Francisco an Noe Valley gem !!!
