We stopped here after seeing their sign about being oldest diner in Florida.  Cute place, some would consider it a dive but they keep it original.  Had cheeseburger platter and wife had the chili.  Everything was great.

Angels is a real diner. Its actually made from an old railroad diner car, and has been serving food for longer than I can remember.
The Iced tea is sweet, the waitresses call everybody hon, and the clientele ranges from attorneys and bankers to mechanics and house painters.
They serve a good hearty breakfast with real grits, not the instant kind. For lunch, they have all your favorites; meat loaf, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and the best cheeseburger and fries in Putnam County.
Prices are small town cheap, and the friendly staff and patrons can be a fountain of local information.

Went there for lunch one day. Tried the Pork Chop Sandwhich with some Fried Pickles on the side. Not impressed. The pickles were allright-but-greasy (they /are/ fried pickles after all). On the other hand, the pork chop was just plain old bad. It had the taste of a not-properly-thawed-out meat patty. If that wasn't bad enough, the sandwhich also had bones in it!  Sandwhiches should not have bones in them. The last insult is that the water tasted swampy at best.
The only thing this place has going for it is that it's Florida's oldest diner. Well gee, good for them!

A small, very old, and honestly charming old diner in downtown Palatka--right after you come across the bridge heading west. The diner was, as my friend and I visited in October, decorated for Halloween and looked thereby all the more charming and the waitstaff was very sweet, but somehow I felt something was missing. We stopped in for milkshakes and they explained they only produced their milkshakes via adding syrup of whatever flavor to vanilla ice cream, but we tried them anyways. Our milkshakes were bland and lumpy--not impressive at all. The other food people were eating in the dinner looked ok but nothing more unique or exceptional than the offerings of a typical Denny's, really. They do have fried pickles, fried okra, and frog legs, so you'll find some uncommon Southern items here, sure enough, but I don't think that and the hype of being "the oldest diner in Florida" really is enough to cause me to stop in again any time soon.

OK.....I will probably get something chucked at my head for giving this place one star, but seriously?? 4 and 5 stars????? UGh...my husband and I ate here one day on the way back from the shore, on the encouragement of my brother-in-law. At first, I thought this place was going to be ok...kinda cute and kitchy.  Everyone said we had to order the Sweet Tea. Now....I am a sweet tea kinda gal...so I was up for it, but what was brought out to us was nearly indigestable. Super weak, and tasted like it was made with swamp water. Blech!  The burgers were ok, but not nearly worth all of the hype that everyone made this place out to be. Perhaps we came on a bad day...who knows? I do know however, that we most likely won't be back to see if there are any "good" days. Sorry Angel's....I was rooting for ya, until I tried ya!

Great restaurant - we found it basically by accident.  Best surprise we have had in a long time.  Forget the great prices - the ambiance, the locals and just the flavor was worth putting this place in my journal!  We'll be back!  Oh, and did I mention the kiss?
