    Awesome Saturday brunch experience!

Fantastic food - had the breakfast emapandas and they were amazing. A unique menu that's great for those who love Mexican and lots of options for those who don't. The kids loved their made-to-order pancakes and French toast too. Excellent portion sizes - not too big, not too small. Friendly staff, we brought our family and they were very welcoming. Lots of easy on street parking. Affordable too. We couldn't believe more people haven't found out about this place because it was pretty empty - Yelpers you're missing out!

Came here for brunch on Saturday. It is pretty surprising that this place is not more popular. When we went in there was a huge group of about 12, but other than that it was relatively quiet for a Saturday brunch.

The decor is a little bit too hipster for my taste with the plenty of art pieces hanging on the wall that encompasses the entire room. All the art pieces are for sale as well, if it so happens that the art intrigues you so much while you are eating that you have to buy it.

Our server was very friendly and polite. They started getting backed up a bit after we got seated, but that was okay since we were not in a rush any where.

    Onto the food -
    1. Chips and Salsa - The chips are homemade fresh from the fryer, and as a recovering chip addict this got me right off the wagon again. They were warm and perfectly salted! The salsa is very mild, but was flavorful and fresh; though it could've used a little bit more spice.

    2. Chilaqueles w/ Tomatillo Sauce - This dish seemed to receive rave reviews, however I found it to be a bit disappointing. I have never had this dish before any where else, but it is supposed to be legit here. In fact, too LEGIT TO QUIT! I say it should quit though, because it is OK at best. Much too starchy, perhaps if I was hung over this would've hit the spot.

    3. Steak and Eggs - Deliciously grilled skirt steak served with 2 eggs, roasted potatoes, and toasted english muffin. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender, while the potatoes were crispy and moist. This definitely hit the spot.

The one attribute which brings Angel's over the top is the price. The prices are extremely reasonable along with the quality of the food. We also noticed when we went to the bathroom, this place is definitely a local neighborhood mom and pop shop. It seemed family run, and coming from the fact that my parents own a restaurant - I always have a soft spot for these establishments. I like it!

I am usually the opposite of a creature of habit.
I like change. Embrace it. Make it happen. Revel in it. Routine is not my thing and have me climb the walls.

But here, at Angel's I cannot, and I mean *cannot* get away from the chilaquiles con mole. I came and conquered (or was conquered, as a matter of fact) three times. Each defeat tasted better than any victory, and I have no regret.

Simply because Angel's chilaquiles are the best I have ever had in my life, no kidding. I know you really don't have to believe me, and that's ok. But seriously - it's perfect. Tortillas, eggs, a smoky mole, mild and deliciously spicy, rice, frijoles and a couple of fixings. Enough food for two meals. Eight dollars. $8.
I am day-dreaming about them on a daily basis.

    You want more?
    Here's more!

You can have your chilaquiles two other ways - with tomatillo salsa or "regular", if you are on the vanilla side of life (no shame though).
Coffee is nice, hot and tasty.
Sundays feature unlimited brunch buffer for a whooping $12. For Easter, it included chilaquiles (hehehe), chicken mole, pork in green salsa, tamales, nutty French toast and banana pecans pancakes, among other things. No, it's not a dream. Yes, it was dreamy good.
    Parking is a breeze.
There is no wait. Read: no line. NO LINE.
There is a huge PATIO. Lots of flowers in the summer. And I am sure you will never want to leave once you set foot in there with a heaping plate of food.

The service was horrible, got seated at a table that wasn't clean, the server barely spoke English but was pressuring us to hurry up with our selection.  Then we didn't see her agin for over 30 min.  Never brought us any chips, refilled our water and people at other tables that came after us were served first.  Once the food came out I was even more disappointed.  My eggs were WAY over done.  They were supposed to be sunny side, but the bottoms were brown and chewy, and the yolks were hard.  The potatoes were good, but that was about it.  Even the OJ was not good.
The waitress was never to be found at our table agin she was too busy bussing tables.  They need more servers for sure.

The service was nice & friendly. Easy street parking & no wait. However, in terms of food, it was a bit disappointing. The place serves Mexican food, but unfortunately, the food is prepared and seasoned for the non-mexican palette. I love mole & their mole sauce definitely disappointed me, it was very grainy. I totally do not think the breakfast buffet is worth the $12. Will definitely not return.

    Only eaten here once but...
    - great chorizo scramble with tortillas, lil salad and potatoes with peppers
    - extremely affordable
    - don't think it gets crazy crowded on weekends for brunch
Not sure if 4 or 5 stars but I'd def come back and try more stuff. Sunday breakfast buffet for $12 with drinks and lotta stuff

Best damn chilaquiles we've ever had!  The mole sauce served on top of that luscious mixture of tortillas, eggs, and sauteed vegetables was smoky, spicy and well balanced.  This is a winning dish amongst a menu that seems to do quite a lot right for a good price.

You really do get a great value here.  If you tend to have a hard time figuring out what to order at a place, come here for Sunday Brunch.  For $12 you get unlimited amounts from a buffet line (think about 8 different things on order- both sweet and savory), eggs made your way, bottomless coffee, and the homemade juice of the day.

While we opted for entree-style ordering, simply because we are trying our best to limit the quantity of food we are eating (buffets = busted waste lines, for me), we still left completely satisfied and looking forward to coming back again.

The other thing we sampled was the banana nut pancakes- which had about two full bananas thinly sliced on top with a white chocolate drizzle and candied walnuts.  This tall stack of three fluffy pancakes were only $8.00 and were delicious.

Fantastic art on the wall, a gorgeous patio out back (which we didn't use since it was about 25 degrees out this morning) and together with their great food- you've got a winner!

I should start this off by saying I do not like Mexican food in any way...so if you're anything like me (aka you feel sick just thinking about Mexican food but all your friends love it), suggest Angel's!! The secret is that they also have a huge menu selection of American food...I got the French toast for 6 dollars and it was excellent! In addition to the good food at a low-cost, I really liked their iced tea. I normally don't mention drinks but this really tasted like delicious (cold) tea rather than some bland ice water with tea taste that I normally expect when ordering an iced tea. Ok...enough of my beverage soap-box. I should also mention that the service was awesome: very friendly waitress and prompt service.

*Please note* I am only reviewing their breakfast.

    WOW!  This place is terrible!

The good: outdoor patio and reasonable prices.

The bad: greasy, poor quality food, carelessly prepared, mediocre service, and frigid cold coffee.  Truly the worst breakfast I could imagine.  A few of us got the breakfast buffet, which consisted of a greasy/dry french toast, dry pancakes, and bunch of greasy meaty mexican breakfast dishes.  We also got eggs benedict with it.  The eggs benedict came with scrambled up egg whites on top rather than a poached egg.  What's up with that???? No yolk at all.  Very strange and unappetizing.  It was also only 1/2 of a benedict.  Then the coffee.  I literally got a not even luke warm cup of coffee put in front of me.  What kind of restaurant cares so little about the quality of their food that they don't notice the are serving COLD (and I mean COLD) coffee?

I will admit, the food that did not come off the buffet menu looked much better.  But at any rate I would NEVER come back to this place.  These reviews are bogus and this place blows.

Met a girlfriend for lunch here a few weeks ago. Great location, reasonable street and lot parking nearby. It's a small place but very inviting and well decorated. There was only one other table when we arrived but it got busier as the lunch rush picked up. The waitress was very nice checking on us periodically without hovering over us. After doing some catching up we finally ordered food which arrived about 10 minutes later. It tasted just as good as it looked and smelled. The portions were perfect and the prices were reasonable for even a tight budget (two entrees and 2 coffees for $16). We will most definitely be back!

The hubby and I went for dinner on a Saturday around 6pm.  The place was so deserted I thought I would see a tumbleweed roll by when we walked in.  But the waitress who was sweeping assured me they were open and to grab a seat anywhere.

We had a http://restaurant.com coupon and needed to spend $35.  So we went all out.  I ordered a XX (Dos Equis) beer.  Our waitress brought out chips and salsa right away while we reviewed the menu.  The chips were okay, but they could have been so much better if they were hot and fresh because the salsa was good and spicy.

The hubby went with a taco flight while I went with the Molcajete.  The taco flight was four small corn tortilla tacos, one of each; chicken, beef, pork and shrimp.  I had the shrimp one (the hubby is scared of seafood) and it was really good.  The Molcajete is similar in presentation to a chicken fajita skillet dish.  It came out bubbling hot in a black stone cauldron.  Word of wisdom, don't wear white if you want to order this.  It was literally boiling and spattering hot grease from the sauce.  And it stayed hot forever too.  It came with a side of rice, re-fried beans and a plate of steamed corn tortillas.  It was beyond good.  I would order both of these dishes again.  The tacos were really tasty and full of flavor and the Molcajete was like nothing I've had before.

In order to reach our dinning minimum we had to order dessert too.  Oh darn, well if I must.  The hubby went with a chocolate shake and I had a scoop of cinnamon ice cream; $3/each, not a bad deal!

The brunch here is the best you could possibly ask for if you are in the mood for a Mexican breakfast. The egg empanadas and savory stewed chilies and peppers with fresh made tostadas are delectable. The eggs benedict were some of the best I have had in the city. The price was was as good as our waitress Jeanette, who was a real sweetheart though I was hungry and demanding. The price includes bottomless coffee and juice, though the real surprise on the buffet was the french toast. Coated in coconut it stole the show even though I am more of a fan of the savory. A true 5 star brunch!

First time for my husband and I to have Mexican for breakfast, but we loved it. Real homey feel with local art on the walls, service was great and the people were nice. We had an omelette and chorizo and egg dish. Not too spicy or greasy for breakfast. This place is really affordable and the portions are just the right size.

OMG.. This place is awesome. Hubby took me here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We needed to kill time before my sons basketball game at Whitney Young High School.. (Go Dolphins).

Normally my stomach can not handle spicy mexican foods. So I order an easy eggs and toast breakfast.. Hubby ordered the Chorizo scrambled eggs. With much resistance I tried them after he persisted.

They were amazing.. I actually begged him to switch meals with me, and eventually he did.  They were not spicy at all, and it was very light to eat. The portions were good size too.

I tried the same scramble egg meal at another Mexican Restaurant a week later thinking it would be the same, and NOPE not even close.

Its a smaller venue, but the waitress was so friendly and was always there to check up on us...

This is my new favorite place!

I've been to Angel's a couple of times and have yet to be disappointed.  Everything is made fresh, portions are huge, prices are really reasonable and the staff is so super nice.

The last time we were there we were a party of 12, celebrating my mom's birthday with the ages ranging from 4 to 87.  Of the 12 of us, only 2 of us had been there before.  This made me a little nervous because, after all, it was for my mom's birthday and I really wanted to make sure everyone had a good time... as it turns out, everyone loved everything - even my very picky dad who, as of late, hates everything... he LOVED his Mexican Hot Chocolate.  He couldn't stop talking about it.  As for what everyone else had..well it would take too much to go plate by plate, but we ordered everything from pancakes, to tacos to almond french toast to the HUGE fruit and yogurt plate.  Everyone raved about the food.

As no place is perfect, my only complaint is the time it takes to get the food...but I think it may be because it's made fresh to order.  I am not sure how many people they have back there cooking.  In this last case, it also had to do with the fact that we had a large party - but the other times I've been there it's only been two of us and it was also a little slow.  But if it means I am going to get good food, I don't mind waiting a little bit.

When we got home, I asked my brother and sister what they thought of Angel's - both said they really liked it and plan on returning.  I was very pleased.  I too plan on returning.  Angel's is really a great restaurant!

Tip:  try the Horchata (Rice Water) I swear it is the BEST in the City!

Breakfast buffet is a good deal  at $12 for french toast, fruit, chilaquiles in addition to your choice of egg dish (eggs florentine, eggs benedict and a cheese omelet which looked a bit sad honestly), coffee and juice. Service was ok as others have mentioned and Miss Lady got a bit too close to my face multiple times with hot plates, coffee pots, etc. Watch it sucka! ;)

The water service was on point though. Seriously water fillers take a half empty glass seriously!

Parking was pretty easy and their wasn't a wait to eat. Nice! I'd go back.

I mean, post long run, I'll eat just about anything, so long as it appears quickly. Unfortunately, the one waitress on staff forgot to come take our order...for a solid 15 minutes. Of sitting there. Staring at her. As she walked past us. A number of times.

Once we ordered and brunch arrived, the mood improved. Food itself gets 3.5 stars. The earth didn't move...but I was satiated.

I *might* go back for dinner another time as I'm on a life mission to find acceptable Mexican food in Chicago. Might.

Well another Taco Tuesday for Rudy and I... I searched for somewhere that had al pastor, I found Angel's close and next to the Mexcian counsoulet.... I ordered the tortilla soup, it was beautiful! tasted good too. I aslo ordered the al pastor plate, it was horrible. beans and rice were good , tacos were bitter and... lack of better term just gross, I took two bites, just to make sure and I was done. Rudy got the Vuela, 4 tacos shimp, steak, chicken and al pastor. He said the steak was good but every thing else was mediocore.
Only two other people in the place the service was ok, foor was very fresh and hot, made to order. I am spoiled to have spent my summers in mexico as a kid and to have grown up on street tacos, but it makes it hard as an adult to be a taco snob. I will not be going back

UPDATE - been back twice since my first review; once for the Sunday brunch buffet and once for dinner. This place is just the shit. The smoldering rock thingy's that they put the chicken fajita stuff in is something to behold. Also, the steak burrito is fantastic. There is something different about it, couldn't figure it out, but it was great.

The buffet was worth every penny, lots of great options, some Mexican inspired, some not. The PBJ French toast was a game changer. Thanks again, Angel's. Glad you're just around the corner!

The service was ok. The waitress was a bit out of it and our food took a while. At least our water got refilled a bunch.
My chilaquiles were spicier than anticipated (especially because when I asked if the ranchero sauce was spciy, you would think that when she said no, she would have said but the dish is). but it came with rice and beans and at $8 was not a bad deal.
    Plenty of street parking.

Popped by this place for brunch today and loved it. The food was great (and the prices were good!), and the service was fantastic. I expected it to be packed on a Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't and sitting outside on the patio was an amazing way to spend the day.

They bring out chips and salsa--watch out for that salsa! It burns!

My roommate and I found a deal on http://Restaurant.com while we were in search for a good Mexican place. We went on a Tuesday evening around 6pm - there was nobody else in the restaurant! We read it had good reviews, but it was a bit strange. We sat on the patio, which was pretty big and nice. The waiter was friendly and checked on us just enough. We ordered a pitcher of regular on the rocks - delicious. Chips and salsa were free and good. Guac was a little bland, but till decent I ordered the vegetable enchiladas and my roommate order a burrito. Big portions and food was really good.

I will definitely be going back with another http://Restaurant.com voucher with my boyfriend.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Great food, pretty patio (especially in the fall), and nice people. My only qualm is that the wait for service can sometimes be long and the wait for food. (The latter I don't mind because I'm assuming it's super fresh.)  Just don't go there on your lunch hour or when time is limited, and you'll love it. Great mole, too!

Breakfast should be an easy experience, because I can't take that much before coffee.  And here at Angel's, everything is low key and food is good and low price.  Please know that this is not a Bongo room type of place where you order stuffed french toast with bananas and nutella.

Our table got a salmon bennedict, an avocado bennedict and an Angel's Special eggs.  Three coffees and 1 milk later, the check was $33.  Most importantly, we all loved our food!  The potatoes are plentiful and sauteed with real bell peppers and onions.   The eggs were poached right, and the scramble had chunks of zuchini and mushrooms in it.  Lots of avaocado in my avo bennedict.   Coffee refill was frequent and because the place was small, service is quick.

I hope this little place stays exactly the same for me every Saturday morning!

Holy Amazing Beans. Why else this gem merits a five star review:

--no wait on a Sunday morning at 11 am
    --easy parking
    --friendly service

Yeah, that only gets you to a 3. The food is what makes this the only restaurant I would visit twice in Chicago. I had the breakfast burrito with the aforementioned amazing beans. The only-ONLY-thing I would change on the burrito is to skip the bell peppers; they were still crunchy so they threw off the texture. Otherwise, it was a cheesy, avocado-y, giant sized mass of awesomeness.

He had the chorizo egg scrambler with corn tortillas and it was delicious as well. I'm not a huge chorizo fan, but this was done perfectly. Loved that they brought a whole batch of tortillas, too.

The highlight for me, though, was the order of banana pancakes we started with. They were a work of art, honestly, and so, so delicious.

A restaurant that can deliver fabulous mexican cuisine AND spectacular standard fare is a rare find indeed. One that perfectly executes all that food plus coffee and a soda for less than $35? That's a rare find sitting on top of a unicorn, my friends.

    Eat here.

This is the Andersonville transplant that my wife and I missed for years.  We did a search for "Mexican Sunday Brunch" and this place popped-up in Yelp.
We were not disappointed.  Street parking is everywhere; and there was no wait!  We dined on Tortilla Soup and Huevos con Chorizo.  Our meals were excellent! We highly recommend the Tortilla Soup.
The decor was very fun as well, there were 3 paintings that I would consider purchasing- a Dia de Muerta painting, a Las Luchadores painting and some commercial tequila art. 5 stars, we will be going back to our old transplanted favorite.

Thank you Pedro and family for helping me throw a great party!

When I was trying to figure out where we could have a surprise party for my mother I considered Angel's, but then I thought about trying somewhere my mom hadn't been.  Well, I thought it over some more and decided I really wanted it here.  My mom's better half called and spoke with Pedro about possibly renting out the restaurant when we found out they close at 4 anyhow.  PERFECT!

I wasn't sure how many people to expect (because I figured people would back out closer to the date), but we ended up with about 26 people.  This restaurant worked out perfect.

I stopped by one day to talk about the menu and wish I hadn't, because the 2-week wait seemed like forever!  Here's what we had:
    - milanesa (though not your typical milanesa, but I liked it, especially re-heated)
    - carne asada (maybe with onions?  I don't recall...all I know is my friend took home the leftovers but ended up eating most of it at the bar)
    - pork (this was so tender and so delicious and apparently a hit because there was nothing leftover!)
    - veggies (think fajitas..but better)
    - white rice (with cilantro and lime...if I recall correctly)
    - black beans
    - tortilla soup!!
    - beef empanadas (appetizer)
    - flautas (appetizer)
    - veggie quesadillas (appetizer)
    - crab cakes (appetizer)........and so far the ONLY crab cakes I've ever liked!

We had a lot of food, but we wanted to make sure there was something for everyone (considering there were 4 vegetarians).  Now, as if the food wasn't good enough, the margaritas were perfect!  Though I'm convinced they got stronger as the night went on.

What really got me though was that Pedro had previously said I could bring whatever I wanted and we'd find a way to decorate.  The day of the party I ended up buying 24 balloons and realized there was no way I could leave those in my car, so I called and asked if I could drop them off early.  "Of course!"  I arrived and found the tables had already been arranged and my balloons were set up!  I wasn't even sure what I would do with them, but they ended up putting them in groups of 4 and placing them strategically around the restaurant.  His niece helped me hang up a "Happy Birthday" sign and my aunt helped with some streamer-like things.

When it came time for the pinata, he and one of the other guys ended up holding up and swinging it so people could take a shot at it.  Leave it to me to bring a pinata but not think it all the way through....

My mom was surprised, the party was a success and the food was great!  It's owners like these that keep me coming back.  Thank you so much Pedro (and family)!

This is one of Chicago's best kept secrets in terms of breakfast places - thank you Yelp!  When I want breakfast, I want it now and not after some ridiculous wait.  Enter, Angels (Which by the way, serves breakfast all day long).

I was a little concerned that it was empty at 11 on a Sunday, but Angels (and Yelp) did not let me down.  Angels is a quaint restaurant that has a  minimal decor but with bright paintings on the wall.  It's not about the ambiance, but about their delicious food.

First thing I like:  it is a family owned and run restaurant.   They really do care about their service and were excellent from soup to nuts.  When they found out it was our first time there, they sent a complimentary delicious dessert.  I was impressed!

The food was good and cheap.  Chips and Salsa - muy bueno.  I had the combo with eggs and pancakes which hit the spot.  It also didn't seem greasy like some of the other breakfast/diner spots.  My boyfriend had the chorizo eggs and he liked them a lot.  There was a lot of food and we left full (but not in the I-just-gained-five-pounds feeling).  I was just amazed by their prices too!

We definitely will be back for breakfast and to try more on their menu.  This place has the potential to be a regular and a "5-star"er.

TIP: There is plenty of parking on Ashland and it is accessible from public transit too.

We wanted a new breakfast spot.  We found it.
Husbo had the huervos rancheros (i can never spell that)
He said it was ok - I had the eggs avocado - eggs benedict with avocado, crazy thick good canadian bacon and an awesome not too citrusy hollandaise.
And chips and salsa to start your morning?? Hells yes!
I like this place and we'll definitely be back...It was really good and cheap-o.

    OH. MY. GOD.

    THIS PLACE IS A JEWEL.

$7 for eggs Florentine which is poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce and sauteed spinach on an English muffin. It came with AWESOME potatoes (better than Meli's!) and a gorgeous arugula salad with balsamic vinegar dressing.

My boyfriend got an ham and cheese omlette, potatoes and salad for the same price and he said it was also absolutely amazing.

This jewel is a great place for breakfast or lunch and with the great prices you can't beat it. Give it a try!!

Add another joint to the list for "impatient breakfast peoples of Chicago!"

Angel's is basically a quaint Mexican dineresque joint with all of the tried and true favorites (think lots of mole, chihuahua cheese and refriend beans and rice, yummmm), but serves BREAKFAST and brunch all day long. Allllll day long. And on this very fine Sunday morning, zero wait. I'd venture to guess this is typically the case....but for those that take the chance, a good satisfying meal without frustration or yuppie brekkie crowds awaits. Hurrrrrah!

Location: Jackson/Ashland, west side of street. I've driven by this spot about 1,000x, and it's just on one of those busy streets where you don't stop to think about it. I encourage y'all to do so. Easy metered parking, for some extra incentive.

My choice: Omelette with chihuahua cheese (GREAT in omelettes!), mushrooms, sausage and spinach. Fluffy and flavorful, with a little side salad + vinegarette, and some killer breakfast potatoes sauteed in red and green peppers. Also, served with toast. All of this for approximately $8. Cash that in, mamacita...I'm sick of paying $15 for bad omelettes smushed in between cranky condo dwellers. THIS really is an angel!

His choice: Cesina (aged beef) with mole covered eggs, refried beans and rice. All was gone, so I'll take this as a satisfactory meal.

    Hot, rich coffees. $2/each.

Other items of interest on the breakfast menu: banana nut stuffed pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, many varieties of eggs benedict, many Mexican specialties (huevos rancheros, etc). Truly, for the price point and the offerings...this is a great breakfast spot very near the West Loop/Little Italy/Near West Side. And frankly, the options are limited, so check it out. A good meal to be had, no wait...even on weekends.

NO WAIT. WEEKEND. BRUNCH. This is all we need to know, folks! A step up from a diner, with the same prices and some Mexican flair. Diamond in the rough over here, yo.

*Full liquor available...though I didn't see any breakfast cocktails, they are open for dinner Wednesday-Sunday, and I did see chalkboards beckoning margarita and beer drinkers.

Breakfast potatoes can be touch and go in Chicago, so when given the choice I'll totally go with beans and rice with my Mexican breakfast.

We were looking for a new breakfast place to go this Sunday that served booze and meat, preferably without a line. Thank you Yelp for steering us to Angel's. A short car ride from Wicker Park, we popped into Angel's and there was no one in there! This might make some people wary, but in light of said waiting feelings, we were glad to be seated immediately.

We ordered two Bloody Marys, and here's where they lose that extra star. The Marys were kind of thick and sweet, obviously not their specialty.

After much contemplation I went with the chilaquiles and the bf had the chorizo eggs, both with beans and rice. Our meals were delicious and very filling, we left muey satisfied.

Affordable and without waiting, Angel's is a great out of the way brunch spot.

A friend and I decided to try this place for brunch because of the good reviews on yelp.  I am very familiar with the neighborhood this restaurant is in, but never even knew about it. It must be a well kept secret.  The restaurant itself is unassuming, especially the patio area which looks like someone's back yard and chairs and tables are scattered about very casually.  Definitely don't go to this place for the decor or ambiance.  It's basically a hole in the wall and little emphasis is placed on looks.

With that said, we were pleasantly surprised by our food.  I think the unexpected good quality/taste and even presentation of the food considering the place itself is very humble made this place interesting.  I had the banana stuffed french toast with candied walnuts.  it was delicious.  The breakfast  potatoes were also very good.  My friend had the eggs benedict crab cakes.  I tried some and I must say I really liked the taste of the crab cakes because they weren't "fishy" like some places make them.  Both dishes were served very nicely as they would be at a more upscale place.

The only criticism I have about this restaurant is the service.  I'm not sure if it was a busy day (there weren't that many people, as we were seated right away with plenty of tables open), but we had to ask the server several times for certain things and the food also took a little longer than one would expect.

Rating just on food, I think this place is worth a visit, and the unexpected goodness of the food even wants me to give this place a 5 for food alone.  If you are more into ambiance, and really good service, I would rate this less than a 4.

The breakfast is one of the best in the city. It's always fresh, super cheap and the waitstaff is amazing. All around a great great experience. 5 stars.

However, had the dinner once and there are better options in the area. Nothing terrible but nothing special. Dinner: 3 stars.

Go for the breakfast, the eggs avocado is amazing. So is the 10 dollar Skirt Steak and eggs.
