I can't pull it off. I'd like to, but I'd just look stupid. Partly because my hair is too short, but also because I smile too much. It doesn't help that I don't have any tattoos or piercings. I don't even have any leather clothing. So you're never going to see me go punk or rocker.
But I can still put on my button up shirt with a sport coat at Angels & Kings and hang out, right? I dig the scene, I just can't look the part. Luckily, they're still welcoming of me. I like this place for the show. Everyone is on display.
They've got these girls that make an effort to wear as little clothing as possible. Then there are these other girls that wear clothing that looks like it's about to have a wardrobe malfunction and reveal something special.
No cover. Cheap drinks. Easy door policy, but I didn't get the memo to wear all black. Oh, and fashion police be warned: the fishnet stockings were meant to be torn up.Listed in: Drinks first, questions later

Didn't spend enough time here to really analyze it, so this is rated on my first impression for the 15 minutes I was there. Keep in mind, I was already toasted off a few glasses of wine at the Cat & fiddle, so this isn't my best review.
It's too dark. I like dark, but I couldn't see ANYTHING. It's also just a little bit too cramped for me. I was expecting this place to be a bit bigger. The island thing in the middle with the booth made it feel too cramped, they should nix that thing so you can have more room to stand and mingle.
I assumed the music would be good here, considering many of the people I know who listen to good music hang out here, but they played a rise against song and osme other music that instantly turned me off. Of course, that's just a preference thing, so if you like that, it might be the type of place for you.
I can't judge the drinks because I didn't have one, the crowd is typical hollywood. I'll try it again, maybe. -

GOOD:
It's like a rock n roll type of bar for beginners. Don't let the smoking line of tattoos and mohawks fool you. Johnny Nextdoor is in there too.
$3 tap beers and cheap wells. Door guys are cool.
80's hair dancing guy is still fun atmosphere for those who haven't seen him yet.
Still a good neighborhood bar with a little atmosphere (i.e. eye candy) and cheap drinks.
BAD:
This place started off cool, but has slowly gone downhill. Makes me sad. I think the bathroom candy has taken hold. Girls who try way too hard to be rocknroll and be seen are also taking over.
Bathroom line can suck and is pretty damn gross.
(On some nights) The one speaker blasting music to an annoying level is on the cusp of sounding blown out. -

Love the location and the regulars here are hilarious looking. Great prices for drinks. Only thing I hate is theres only one stall for the ladies bathroom and to pee on a busy night is an hour wait! I would suggest only checking this place out mon-thurs, avoid any other day if you care about your bladder & wanna drink a ton lol

This place made me feel dirty. Like, more dirty than I normally feel whenever I go out in Hollywood. They were playing AWFUL music & it was full of long haired dudes and beezies, and featured a ram's head with golden horns which spiralled into some kind of machine gun as the centerpiece above the bar. That was above the gong. So gross, so dirty, so #dark.
Two stars instead of one because I was drinking for free, no one spilled their drink on me, and no one called me a mean name or tried to hit me. Thanks team! -

The crowd here sucks and the female waitress/bartender is a fucking straight hustler. "Oh hey! You want drinks? Okay sure what do you want? Vanilla Vodka and sprite? Rum and coke? Okay coming right up" All this without you saying a word. Haha. The drinks are around $4-10. Pretty standard prices. Oh one plus THE FASTEST SERVICE I'VE EVER RECEIVED AT A BAR. Seriously these people are on top of it. Oh the guy at the door checking IDs is super friendly! Loved that guy.
The decor is awesome but the bathroom is pretty gross. There is also one stall so be prepared to wait for a while. I also just now remembered a girl waiting in line giving up and going into the mens restroom not realizing the mens restroom had two urinals and there was still a guy in there hahhaha.
Okay the highlight of my whole night had nothing to do with this bar but what happened outside of it. There was a long line of identical gourmet looking hotdog vendors. My friend was hungry so I offered to buy her a hot dog with the last of my $5. I asked a vendor how much it was and he said $12. That definitely was not going to cut it so I told her to speak Spanish to him and instantly the hot dog became $4! Haha I felt like I was in Shanghai again except in Shanghai they would rip you off even more instead of giving you a deal. -

It is a self-proclaimed "rock bar" part owned by self proclaimed "rock star" Pete Wentz (though, he'll always be "Peen Wentz" to me). We rolled in around 8:30 and literally were the ONLY people there. It's a flashy looking place, don't get me wrong. Leather stools (no backs on them, fuck!) and benches, curtains. You know, Hollywood shit.
I was initially put off by the fact they didn't have 3 things on their already limited menu. I went to a restaurant once that didn't have items in their bar and on their menu, but it was because they were going out of business. Why would a seemingly successful club not have shit in stock? Especially since they only have about 6 things on their menu to begin with.
They also boast a short and somewhat unimpressive signature drink list. Yea, yea... you don't need to have specialty drinks, but... if you do... make them tasty? They get points for the names of the drinks: The Hammer (Bud Light and a shot of Jack) and Angst (SoCo and crap)... but I was't terribly impressed with the signature beverages. I know, though, I did knock my glass of Angst "over and the barkeep made me a new drink. Something that started with a "p" and had tequila it tasted, basically, like a margarita with soda water. So, I switched to PBR on tap (always a selling point for me). The draft beers cost $4, which is a good price especially for pretentious Hollywood. Well drinks are $5, which is also decent. They sell themselves as a "fancy dive bar"... which, in this barfly's opinion, defeats the purpose of a dive bar.
At about 10:30 the place started to get packed. From my spot on a barstool it appeared that few people were tipping and everyone was a rockstar. Wait, scratch that, a wanna be rockstar.
Instead of my "favorite" people, hipsters, like we'd come across in Silverlake, Echo Park and Downtown LA, we encountered a bar full of has-beens and never was's. Whatever do I mean?
Well, everyone was wearing black, a rock band t-shirt, bandanna/hat and tattoos and with eyeliner. Stop trying tso hard. You want to be a rockstar, that's awesome. But do you all need the same hairstyle? Try originality.
But crowd got douchier as the night went on and we were out of there before midnight. I'd go back if no one was there and if there was parking... but in the grand scheme of things I'd rather go to a bar in the Valley where they have lower prices anyway and parking. And dreamy bartenders. And where the only creepster in the bar is me.
One redeeming factor was the faux (I think) deer head on the wall with machine guns for the antlers. Oh, and they had a gong. They wouldn't let me hit it, but they had one. -

This place. I can't tell you the amount of amazing fun times I've had here.
The drinks are regularly priced, you can ALWAYS get in. (No Line). Sweet photo booth, bartenders are nice.
On a budget? Go here. -

Review from Alex V.
So you were totally into that whole Hot Topic look about 6-8 years ago and you loved dying your hair strange colors, wearing black, and overall just standing out in the crowd (in a really bad way I might add). Well you've come to the right place. You get to hang out with all the other washed up losers that just never let go of that style. Plus you don't have to worry about dancing, because there's no room to dance in this place, barely even room to stand. So your uncoordinated self has no stress going in here. You'll be able to lurk in the darkness with all the rest of the other glegs of society. Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate rockers in the least, but if you wanna go see some real rockers, you gotta go to the Rainbow Room, not this place.
I walked in last night, looked for my friends, couldn't see them because the darkness had surrounded me and I kept getting bumped by creatures covered in tattoos. So upon not finding said friend, I promptly went outside where I could breath properly without some goth dork trying to inhale my soul as I gasped for air.
Anyways, if all this sounds like a great time to you, then head on over to Angels and Kings, hands down one of the worst places I've ever been in my life. -

On Tuesdays you pay $30 dollars and you get an all you can drink wrist band. Usually when its "all you can drink" its only a few simple drinks but they will make anything for you and they are strong which is good!

I loved the Angels and Kings in Chicago...well, the old one that was on Clark St. Angels and Kings Hollywood does not disappoint either!
Drinks are not as expensive as you'd think, the decor is cool. It's a great place in Hollywood to escape Hollywood, if you know what I mean.

Came here last night (saturday night) around 1am....yeah my group had a bit of a late start.
The venue was very interesting, a lot smaller than i thought it was going to be.. and very dim lights....and after they turned on the lights at the end of the night, i understood why.. it's pretty gross haha, but i guess it's just going for that grunge look....
i really liked the rock music they played, it was kind of refreshing not listening to house music all the time like other bars/clubs/lounges.
the people here are also very interesting....i thought i was thrown into an 80's rock party....i'm not hating at all, because i love to people watch, and this was the most entertaining place i've found so far. Interesting characters is all i have to say.
It's a pretty chill place, and i'll definitely be back...
and as far as "dress code" anything goes...it seems :) -

Good: Cool decor. It's very spacious. There's a neat photo booth. There's a doorman.
Bad: The crowd is pretty monotonous - everyone looks the same. The bartender was pretty inexperienced and we had to wait for our drinks so that she could ask the other bartender how to make them. -

The reviews were right, this place doesn't get busy until 12. We were meeting up people here around 9:30 - 10. When we got here there were 5 people here. However, the booths are huge and we had a big group coming so we got one of booths.
Food was good, mini chicken tacos you can finish in two bites, Japanese Dumplings best dumplings i ever had, full of meat and tempura batter, beef sliders, just melted in my mouth, bbq chicken pizza also was mouth watering.
Drinks great prices and being on Hollywood blvd, even better. We got all that food plus 6 drinks for under $75 bucks not including tip.
Mug shot booth is fun, interior is dark, fun spot to come after 12:00 -

FUN! Thanks to mug shot photo booth and bartender Darius! The other bartender on Friday night was LAME-O and I almost turned around to leave his sour puss face but thank goodness he had a funny, sociable bar-tending counterpart!
It's the perfect size bar, with a friendly bouncer to boot! Don't see that too often in Hollywood.
The mug shots definitely got the fun rolling with giggles and the good drinks helped too! This is definitely worth checking out if you don't mind a dance-free lounge. -

Great place! Cheap drinks, great service and even the bouncer greeted my group and wished us a good night. Yep, at a bar on Hollywood Blvd, we were treated awesome and with friendly service. Would definitely go again.

After leaving a dirty ass club, my boyfriend and I and a couple of friends went to go look for a bar to chill at.
we went to a couple places that said it was too late to go in. someone said they thought a place was still open and we walked right in to ANGELS & KINGS..
body guard was super chill, not a egotistical douche bag which we had been dealing with all night.
Prices are very reasonable
good music, a tad loud ( hard to hold a conversation), but at least it was good music
there is a very cool ram on the wall & the horns turn in to guns(pretty sweet)
defiantly going back -

New York, NY
I'm not a bar person. Well I'm more a bar person than a club person but still, I don't go out often with the sole intent and purpose of getting drunk. I was visiting my friend in LA and she had to work on Saturday night--so instead of staying in, I headed over to Hollywood Blvd, into Angels & Kings and grabbed a stool at the bar. It's totally one of those places that you don't feel like an ass showing up solo and striking up random conversations with strangers.
The clientele was eclectic and the music was pretty mellow at first and then got more "rock n' roll" as the evening progressed. The staff were amazing and everybody seemed to be having a great time. I did notice a lot of cheapskate customers come up tot he bar and tip $1 on $20 or more worth of drinks which prompted me to be a bit more generous when it came time to pay my tab. But the bartenders handled these people very graciously and shrugged it off. I guess bartending isn't what it used to be when I did it in my early 20s because if that was me, I would have stopped serving them.
All in all, I'd choose this place over any of the "hot" clubs in LA, and by "hot" I mean overcrowded with drunken children in stilettos and hipster garb. -

Los Angeles, CA
A really nice, well designed bar. It's not too big, it's not too small, there wasn't a line when I arrived, and it's got a sweet rock n roll rambo deer head.
We went here for my friend's birthday. We had our own little booth and champagne to start off the evening. The staff was very friendly and attentive all night.
Saturday had $4 beers and 6$ wells. Very inexpensive considering the location and the crowd.
Not a very pretentious crowd, but this is definitely a bar and not a club, so don't come here expecting to dance your way into a stranger's heart.
The guy to girl ratio wasn't in my favor, but I was more than happy with the kind of people there considering that I didn't get into any bro- fights, and everyone I met was pretty friendly. -
Review from Keesy S.
Came here as a part of a pub crawl and was drawn in by the decor and the seating. i don't know how I feel about backless bar stools, sound like trouble to me, but it had a very nice vibe to it. Very hollywoody in a rock star type of way. The drinks were nice and strong but the vibe was lacking, I'm giving it 3 stars simply for seating and decor though. The bar itself was Meh, but it could've been an off night?

Van Nuys, CA
It's always about the company.
The place is dark and the dress code inexistent, so pretty good place to just hang out with your friends. The "mug shot" booth requires your own camera, I don't know why I thought it would have its own so I was a bit surprised. The price for beers and well drinks are pretty good.
Only 3 stars because it is nothing special, at all. The food was mundane, the drinks were especially boring, and when I ordered a dry gin martini while discussing the well gin with the server and how i'm looking to take advantage of their daily special, she conveniently forgets to mention that a martini is not a well drink even when using cheap, low end gin. Last thing, for a Saturday night: boring.
Worth going back for typical well drinks and beers, perhaps before heading out to a more popular and fun place. -

Los Angeles, CA
This is one of my favorite spots to hit up in Hollywood. It's the perfect location and the ambiance inside is great for a fun night out. The best features are of course the mug shot photo booth, which is always a must for first timers, or after a few too many drinks! Make sure to bring chalk, as the bathroom walls are coated with chalkboard paint , so write your heart out!
Sometimes you can find free street parking but it's easier to just pay the $10 and park next door.
Best nights to go are on the last friday of every month for Hollywood Waste night or for Klub Thrashed Thursdays!
Drinks are relatively cheap considering the location, its usually $3 beers and $5 well drinks. The bartenders are all pretty cool, the best one by far is Manny! -

Los Angeles, CA
This place was uber cool and uber chill. I am a huge fan of loungy bars, that give off a kinda divey feel. This hit the nail on the head! The lighting was low, they played awesome music and the drinks were very well priced for being in Trend Central. It kinda reminded me of a place where Amy Winehouse would come to drink if you could smoke inside.
The only thing that sucked was the parking sitch. $10 to valet, and then another $20 to park the car overnight. I don't even think my bar tab was that much! Seriously!
If I were to go back I'd make sure to either cab it or park somewhere else. -
Review from Kate P.
Sherman Oaks, CA
Went for a friend's birthday party around 9:30ish. We were easily able to find a booth to sit with our group, and the amount of people in the bar was just right. Bar tenders were attentive, drink was pretty strong, and 4 bucks for a beer on tap. The place doesn't have much, just brick walls, seats, and bar, but they do have a cool photo booth where you can pretend to take mugshots.
Only complaint: I know they're trying to look like a rock star club or something, but the bathroom was nasty and the ladies room toilet did not have a toilet seat. Be ready to do some squats! Or sneak into the men's room (which did not have a lock). -

Tacoma, WA
I came here after an invitation from a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. I wouldn't have made this my first choice on my own but it went pretty well anyway.
I think I'm used to wells being cheaper than 6 bucks when they're on special, then again, I haven't been used to shelling out Hollywood amounts of cash for drinks for the last 5 years I've been away, either.
I didn't spend much time inside, but I'm definitely digging the decor. That deer head on the wall was great and the bartender was friendly enough while getting my drink. At first I thought it was entirely too dark but it works.
The scene outside the bar was hilarious. Hooting and hollering and having a great time with everyone. We were all talking to each other whether we were acquainted or not, MUCH more social than the scene inside.
As always in Hollywood, parking is a pain, but that's nothing new.
And please guys, stop calling this a dive. It's definitely NOT a dive bar. -
Review from Danimal C.
Huntington Beach, CA
This place was interesting enough. One of Pete Wentz'(Fall Out Boy) bars, and definitely aimed at the music and tattooed crowd. I came here with a few friends and we all felt pretty much amongst our own, save for a few. Drink specials were definitely nice on my bank account too, which is always good by the end of the night haha.
They had everything you would expect at a bar in Hollywood, the usual drinks, the only thing that was a little different, was it kinda felt like being at a show or in a venue, just as a band is about to go on, since the lighting was suuuper low. I was kind of annoyed by that at first, but as the night went on, i definitely preferred it.
Music selection was eclectic to say the least, ranging anywhere from Rancid, to White Zombie, and that is another thing that i really enjoyed with this place. It would have gotten boring if they just played an album at a time, like Hot Topic or something.
The only thing that really sucked, as it does everywhere in Hollywood, was the parking. Since its Hollywood, its just a free for all search for street parking, or you can shell out $10-15 in one of the lots. I prefer to make a couple laps around the block and see if something opens up :)
Anyways, I would definitely go here again, and plan on it. Its a pretty rad place to just chill with some friends and get some cheap drinks and a good atmosphere. -
Review from Erica F.
It's a rock & roll bar - not my usual cup of tea but I enjoyed it! The music is loud! Don't come here expecting anything but well-curated rock of all flavors. The bar is dimly lit and full of cozy corners to hang out in. The bartenders are friendly and they make the drinks strong. I paid $7 for a Jack & Ginger - very reasonable price! And the door staff and security are super nice and friendly as well.

You know what? I really am a fan of this place. I have been here between 4-5 times in the last few months and I really dig it. Love the Celeb Mug Shots on the wall. DJ plays everything from Bad Company & The Rolling Stones to STP and Sublime. Drinks are strong and cheap. The crowd is diverse at times, but always fun. Dolce Group did good with this one.
P.S...You can take your drink out into the street to a designated smoking area, which is nice if you smoke. -

Totally dig this place. Dark, brooding, and masculine, it's got a rock 'n roll vibe to it that is cemented in its evident departure from the bread and butter Hollywood bar/lounge formula. It's not a club, it's not a dive bar, it's not a sports bar. Think of it as a contemporary twist on the 1940's whiskey bar married to burlesque. Lounge-y without the pretentiousness expected of your Hollywood Blvd. hotspots.
This used to be Bella Cucina Italiana (an Italian restaurant also by Dolce Group, the mastermind behind Angels & Kings), and I always thought the square footage was much too small to house a restaurant. It would get too loud and crowded in there to make it a decent dining spot. The space works so much better as the intimate bar that it is now.
$4 beers on Mondays! DJ spins mostly rock *lots of 80's* on Mondays. -

CRAP AND A WHOLE HALF. This place is dirty like a family of cockroaches living in the corner of an abandoned building.
Puke stains in the one toilet bathroom. Left-over coke lines on the sink.
Wait a minute, sounds like every dirty ass bar in Los Angeles.
Bartender service is horrible. PLEASE AVOID BARTENDER NAMED LIZZY. She has very horrible attitude and is officially the grumpiest person alive, next to Uncle Scrooge. In case you won't be able to identify her, she is a short girl with boobage protruding out claiming attention. She will ask if you want a drink, and if you can't decide on the spot, she will get mad; so beware, you're in for a scare.
To avoid the hassle with 'Lizzy the boobage lady,' please decide on what you are going to drink before you step into the bar.
Also, she swiped my credit card twice. Overcharging me!!!
Was it out of spite? Who knows. I had to call my bank today and reclaim half of it.
So I say, find another joint to hang out at. There are tons of them around the Hollywood area. Angels and Kings should be renamed Cockroaches and Puke. -

Ok, this place is the typical happy dive bar that plays rock music where lots of the pretty people of HOllywood go to drink. More of a locals and musicians venue to hang out. But still.
You are greeted by some sort of Elk thing bust on a wall, with huge horns that shape into it holding guns I think, and also a wall of "Fame" of Mugshots of your favorite celebrities...YAY!
Ok, the drinks are pretty good........
GET THE GUY BARTENDER. Girl BARTENDER either sucks bad or just is very new and probably only got the job cuz her looks, cuz well it's Hollywood...and substance doesn't really exist there...but sadly she was just a pretty face..no real personality...and yeah, she didn't even tip the cup when she was pouring beer to avoid the foam...seriously...ugh. Anyway, try to avoid her, she works on Tuesday nights...I don't know her schedule...
Um..BRING CASH if you can. Other than that, the crowd was pretty people party of HOllywood probably with careers in music or are fucking someone famous...who knows...but still they were actually pretty nice.
ANyway, check it out if you're in LA. I will. :D
CHeck it!
